In this paper, the influence of calcination temperature and time has been investigated on the structural, morphological, optical, and photo-catalytic properties of Sn/Ce co-doped TiO2 nano-powders prepared via sol–gel process. They were calcined at the temperatures in the range of 475–975 °C for 1 and 2 h. The photocatalytic ability of TiO2 powders was evaluated by means of methylene blue degradation experiments conducted under the irradiation of simulated solar light. The X-ray diffraction results showed that the tensile strain in the host lattice was present. The comparison with undoped and Sn or Ce-doped TiO2, co-doped TiO2 shows an obviously higher catalytic activity under visible light irradiation. The absorbance spectrum of Ce and Sn co-doped TiO2 exhibited significant red-shift to visible region. The red-shift is caused by the appearance of a new electronic state in the middle of the TiO2 band-gap. FESEM images show the formation of doped TiO2 nanoparticles with small size in structure and spherical in shape. The FTIR spectra exhibited peaks corresponding to the anatase and rutile structure phases of TiO2.  相似文献

Anatase TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by a simple sol-gel method at moderate temperature. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy revealed the exclusive presence of anatase TiO2 without impurities such as rutile or brookite TiO2. Thermogravimetric analysis confirmed the formation of TiO2 at about 400 °C. Particle size of about 20 nm observed by transmission electron microscopy matches well with the dimension of crystallites calculated from XRD. The electrochemical tests of the sol-gel-prepared anatase TiO2 show promising results as electrode for lithium-ion batteries with a stable specific capacity of 174 mAh g?1 after 30 cycles at C/10 rate. The results show that improvement of the electrochemical properties of TiO2 to reach the performance required for use as an electrode for lithium-ion batteries requires not only nanosized porous particles but also a morphology that prevents the self-aggregation of the particles during cycling.  相似文献

Using the first principles calculations, the electronic and optical properties of C, Mo and Mo-C-doped anatase TiO2 are studied. For the Mo mono-doped TiO2, the band gap reduces little, and the largest perturbation occurs at the CBM of TiO2. C mono-doping suppresses the effective band gap, but the partially occupied subbands in the gap probably also serve as the recombination centers for electrons and holes. Therefore, the Mo-C co-doping is investigated for the charge compensation consideration. We discuss six doped configurations and find that the total energy of the system is increased with increasing distance of C and Mo. It is found that co-doped configurations with C nearest to Mo possess the lowest total energy. Then, we focus on discussing three possible Mo-C adjacent co-doped configurations. The subbands mainly induced by C-2p states in the band gap become fully occupied because the Mo atom contributes sufficient electrons to C anion for compensation. At the same time, the effective band gap is narrowed about 0.9 eV and the perturbation at the CBM occurred in Mo mono-doped TiO2 disappears, which means the band edges of doped system still straddle the redox potentials of water. Furthermore, the optical properties of the compensated Mo-C adjacent co-doped TiO2 and pure TiO2 are calculated. The optical absorption edges of the Mo-C co-doped TiO2 shift towards the visible light region.  相似文献

In this work, amorphous and crystalline TiO2 films were synthesized by the sol–gel process at room temperature. The TiO2 films were doped with gold nanoparticles. The films were spin-coated on glass wafers. The crystalline samples were annealed at 100°C for 30 minutes and sintered at 520°C for 2 h. All films were characterized using X-ray diffraction, transmission electronic microscopy and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. Two crystalline phases, anatase and rutile, were formed in the matrix TiO2 and TiO2/Au. An absorption peak was located at 570 nm (amorphous) and 645 nm (anatase). Photoconductivity studies were performed on these films. The experimental data were fitted with straight lines at darkness and under illumination at 515 nm and 645 nm. This indicates an ohmic behavior. Crystalline TiO2/Au films are more photoconductive than the amorphous ones.  相似文献

TiO2 nanopowder is produced by the low-temperature hydrolysis of TiCl4. The phase composition of the sample is found to form at a hydrolysis temperature of 30–38°C. Low-temperature annealing (up to 440°C) increases the degree of crystallinity of the phases present in the sample (anatase, brookite) and only weakly affects their ratio. At 500°C, the sample consists of three phases: rutile is detected apart from anatase and brookite. Brookite begins to fail at 600°C; at 700°C, crystalline brookite fails completely.  相似文献

In this research, Cu-doped TiO2 thin films have been successfully deposited onto a glass substrate by Sol–gel technique using dip coating method. The films were annealed at different annealing temperatures (400–500 °C) for 1 h. The structural, optical and electrical properties of the films were investigated and compared using X-ray Diffraction, UV–visible spectrophotometer and 4-point probe method. Optical analysis by mean transmittance T(λ) and absorption A(λ) measurements in the wavelength range between 300 to 800 nm allow us to determine the indirect band gap energy. DRX analysis of our thin films of TiO2:Cu shows that the intensities of the line characteristic of anatase phase increasing in function of the temperature.  相似文献

A simple and highly efficient method is developed for in situ one-step preparation of carbon co-encapsulated anatase and rutile TiO2 nanocrystals (TiO2@C) with core-shell structure for lithium-ion battery anode. The synthesis is depending on the solid-phase reaction of titanocene dichloride with ammonium persulfate in an autoclave at 200 °C for 30 min. The other three titanocene complexes including bis(cyclopentadienyl)dicarbonyl titanium, cyclopentadienyltitanium trichloride, and cyclopentadienyl(cycloheptatrienyl)titanium are used instead to comprehensively investigate the formation mechanism and to improve the microstructure of the product. The huge heat generated during the explosive reaction cleaves the cyclopentadiene ligands into small carbon fragments, which form carbon shell after oxidative dehydrogenation coating on the TiO2 nanocrystals, resulting in the formation of core-shell structure. The TiO2 nanocrystals prepared by titanocene dichloride have an equiaxed morphology with a small diameter of 10–55 nm and the median size is 30.3 nm. Hundreds of TiO2 nanocrystals are encapsulated together by the worm-like carbon shell, which is amorphous and about 20–30 nm in thickness. The content of TiO2 nanocrystals in the nanocomposite is about 31.1 wt.%. This TiO2@C anode shows stable cyclability and retains a good reversible capacity of 400 mAh g?1 after 100 cycles at a current density of about 100 mA g?1, owing to the enhanced conductivity and protection of carbon shell.  相似文献

Anatase is the low-temperature (300–550 °C) crystalline polymorph of TiO2 and it transforms to rutile upon heating. For applications utilizing the photocatalytic properties of nanoscale anatase at elevated temperatures (over 600 °C) the issue of phase stabilisation is of major interest. In this study, binary TiO2/SiO2 particles were synthesized by a flame aerosol process with TiCl4 and SiCl4 as precursors. The theoretical Si/Ti ratio was varied in the range of 0.7–1.3 mol/mol. The synthesized TiO2/SiO2 samples were heat treated at 900 and 1,000 °C for 3 h to determine the thermostability of anatase. Pyrogenic TiO2 P25 (from Evonik/Degussa, Germany) widely applied as photocatalyst was used as non-thermostabilized reference material for comparison of photocatalytic activity of powders. Both the non-calcinated and calcinated powders were characterized by means of XRD, TEM and BET. Photocatalytic activity was examined with dichloroacetic acid (DCA) chosen as a model compound. It was found that SiO2 stabilized the material retarding the collapse of catalyst surface area during calcination. The weighted anatase content of 85% remains completely unchanged even after calcination at 1,000 °C. The presence of SiO2 layer/bridge as spacer between TiO2 particles freezes the grain growth: the average crystallite size increased negligibly from 17 to 18 nm even during the calcination at 1,000 °C. Due to the stabilizing effect of SiO2 the titania nanoparticles calcinated at 900 and 1,000 °C show significant photocatalytic activity. Furthermore, the increase in photocatalytic activity with calcination temperature indicates that the titania surface becomes more accessible either due to intensified cracking of the SiO2 layer or due to enhanced transport of SiO2 into the necks thus releasing additional titania surface.  相似文献

This report discusses the preparation and microstructure of Co/Ni co-doped MgGa2O4 nanoparticles. The nanoparticles with the size of 20–55 nm were synthesized by sol-gel method. The phase and crystallinity were confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) pattern. The particle size was estimated according to XRD data and transmission electron microscopy. The electronic structure was studied using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The XPS studies showed that Ga3+ ions possess tetrahedral and octahedral sites of spinel structure and the inverse degree (two times of the fraction of tetrahedral Ga3+ ions) has increased with the increase of the doping concentration of Co2+ and Ni2+ ions. For Co/Ni co-doped MgGa2O4, two broad absorption bands of 350~500 and 550~700 nm were observed in the absorption spectra. The broad band at 350~500 nm was assigned to the combination of the absorption of octahedral Co2+ and Ni2+ ions, whereas the absorption band at 550~700 nm is mainly due to tetrahedrally coordinated Co2+ ions and octahedrally coordinated Ni2+ ions.  相似文献

The Br-doped hollow TiO2 photocatalysts were prepared by a simple hydrothermal process on the carbon sphere template following with calcination at 400 °C. The structure and properties of photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectrum, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscopy, N2 desorption–adsorption, UV–Vis spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The TiO2 hollow spheres are in diameter of 500 nm with shell thickness of 50 nm. The shell is composed of small anatase nanoparticles with size of about 10 nm. The TiO2 hollow spheres exhibit high crystalline and high surface area of 89.208 m2/g. With increasing content of Br doping, the band gap of TiO2 hollow spheres decreased from 2.85 to 1.75 eV. The formation of impurity band in the band gap would narrow the band gap and result in the red shift of absorption edge from 395 to 517 nm, which further enhances the photocatalytic activity. The appropriate Br doping improves the photocatlytic activity significantly. The TiO2 hollow spheres with 1.55% Br doping (0.5Br-TiO2) exhibit the highest photocatalytic activity under full light. More than 98% of RhB, MO, and MB can be photodegraded using 0.5Br-TiO2 with concentration of 10 mg/L in 40, 30, and 30 min, respectively. The degradation rate of Br-doped photocatalysts was 40% faster than undoped ones.

Comparative GGA and GGA+U calculations for pure and Mo doped anatase TiO2 are performed based on first principle theory, whose results show that GGA+U calculation provide more reliable results as compared to the experimental findings. The direct band gap nature of the anatase TiO2 is confirmed, both by using GGA and GGA+U calculations. Mo doping in anatase TiO2 narrows the band gap of TiO2 by introducing Mo 4d states below the conduction band minimum. Significant reduction of the band gap of anatase TiO2 is found with increasing Mo doping concentration due to the introduction of widely distributed Mo 4d states below the conduction band minimum. The increase in the width of the conduction band with increasing doping concentration shows enhancement in the conductivity which may be helpful in increasing electron–hole pairs separation and consequently decreases the carrier recombination. The Mo doped anatase TiO2 exhibits the n-type characteristic due to the shifting of Fermi level from the top of the valence band to the bottom of the conduction band. Furthermore, a shift in the absorption edge towards visible light region is apparent from the absorption spectrum which will enhance its photocatalytic activity. All the doped models have depicted visible light absorption and the absorption peaks shift towards higher energies in the visible region with increasing doping concentration. Our results describe the way to tailor the band gap of anatase TiO2 by changing Mo doping concentration. The Mo doped anatase TiO2 will be a very useful photocatalyst with enhanced visible light photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

Hydrothermal method was used to prepare TiO2 nanoparticles with annealing temperature at 500 °C–700 °C. The mixture of anatase-rutile phase was investigated by powerful tool of X-ray diffraction (XRD). The structural parameters of anatase and rutile mixture phaseTiO2 nanoparticles were calculated from the Rietveld refinement. The transformation rate of rutile was increased linearly with an annealing temperature of 500 °C–700 °C. The spherical morphology of the anatase and rutile mixed phase were obtained by scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope. The spherical particle of the anatase and rutile TiO2 shows with great aggregation with different size and within the range of few tens nm. The EDAX study revealed the presence of titanium and oxygen. The best photocatalytic activity was identified as the 87.04% of anatase and 12.96% of rutile mixer phase of TiO2. Various factors could be involved for a better photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

Titania (TiO2) exists in several phases possessing different physical properties. In view of this fact, we report on three types of hydrogen sensors based on individual TiO2 nanotubes (NTs) with three different structures consisting of amorphous, anatase or anatase/rutile mixed phases. Different phases of the NTs were produced by controlling the temperature of post‐anodization thermal treatment. Integration of individual TiO2 nanotubes on the chip was performed by employing metal deposition function in the focused ion beam (FIB/SEM) instrument. Gas response was studied for devices made from an as‐grown individual nanotube with an amorphous structure, as well as from thermally annealed individual nanotubes exhibiting anatase crystalline phase or anatase/rutile heterogeneous structure. Based on electrical measurements using two Pt complex contacts deposited on a single TiO2 nanotube, we show that an individual NT with an anatase/rutile crystal structure annealed at 650 °C has a higher gas response to hydrogen at room temperature than samples annealed at 450 °C and as‐grown. The obtained results demonstrate that the structural properties of the TiO2 NTs make them a viable new gas sensing nanomaterial at room temperature. (© 2015 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH &Co. In this work photocatalytic properties of TiO2 thin films doped with different amount of Tb have been described. Thin films were prepared by high energy reactive magnetron sputtering process. Comparable photocatalytic activity has been found for all doped TiO2 thin films, while different amounts of Tb dopant (0.4 and 2.6 at. %) results in either an anatase or rutile structure. It was found that the terbium dopant incorporated into TiO2 was also responsible for the amount of hydroxyl groups and water particles adsorbed on the thin film surfaces and thus photocatalytic activity was few times higher in comparison with results collected for undoped TiO2 thin films.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) films with a thickness of 550 nm were deposited on quartz glass at 300 °C by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. The effects of post-annealing between 600 °C and 1000 °C were investigated on the structural and optical properties of the films. X-ray diffraction patterns revealed that the anatase phase of as-grown TiO2 films began to be transformed into rutile at the annealing temperature of 900 °C. The TiO2 films were entirely changed to the rutile phase at 1000 °C. From scanning electron spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy images, it was confirmed that the microstructure of as-deposited films changed from narrow columnar grains into wide columnar ones. The surface composition of the TiO2 films, which was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy data, was nearly constant although the films were annealed at different temperatures. When the annealing temperature increased, the transmittance of the films decreased, whereas the refractive index and the extinction coefficient calculated by the envelope method increased at high temperature. The values of optical band gap decreased from 3.5 eV to 3.25 eV at 900 °C. This abrupt decrease was consistent with the anatase-to-rutile phase transition. The optical properties of rutile and anatase titanium dioxide (TiO2) are calculated from the imaginary part of the dielectric function using pseudopotential density functional method within its generalized gradient approximation (GGA) and a scissors approximation. The fundamental absorption edges calculated for the unit cell of both rutile and anatase are consistent with experimentally reported results of single crystal rutile and anatase TiO2 and with previous theoretical calculations. A significant optical anisotropy is observed in the anatase structure which holds promise for investigating the band gap modification with better visible-light response and provides a reliable foundation for addressing the effect of impurities on the fundamental absorption edge/band gap of anatase TiO2. Further calculations on the electronic structure and the optical properties of C-, N-, and S-doped anatase TiO2 are performed. The results are analyzed and discussed in terms of optical anisotropy and scissors approximations.  相似文献

Pigment-grade anatase TiO2 particles (160 nm) were passivated using ultra-thin insulating films deposited by molecular layer deposition (MLD). Trimethylaluminum (TMA) and ethylene glycol (E.G) were used as aluminum alkoxide (alucone) precursors in the temperature range of 100–160 °C. The growth rate varied from 0.5 nm/cycle at 100 °C to 0.35 nm/cycle at 160 °C. Methylene blue oxidation tests indicated that the photoactivity of pigment-grade TiO2 particles was quenched after 20 cycles of alucone MLD film, which was comparable to 70 cycles of Al2O3 film deposited by atomic layer deposition (ALD). Alucone films would decompose in the presence of water at room temperature and would form a more stable composite containing aluminum, which decreased the passivation effect on the photoactivity of TiO2 particles.  相似文献

The effects of atmospheric air and argon environments on thermal-induced phase transformations in electrospun TiO2 nanofibers have been investigated in situ using synchrotron radiation diffraction. Diffraction results showed that the as-synthesized TiO2 nanofibers were initially amorphous, but crystallized to form anatase and rutile after thermal annealing in air or argon at elevated temperatures. The crystallization temperature of anatase was delayed by 100 °C in argon relative to in air, and the transformation of anatase into rutile occurs faster in argon atmosphere than in air due to the formation of oxygen vacancies. Non-linear strains formed in both polymorphs and the substantial elevation of rutile thermal expansion pointed to strain anisotropy in the rutile phase and the concomitant fibre breakage.  相似文献

Visible light Bi2O3/TiO2 nanocomposites are successfully prepared with different dosages of Bi2O3 by hydrothermal process. All the as-prepared samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning and transmission electron microscopes (SEM and TEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis (BET), N2 adsorption-desorption measurement, and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS). XRD and Raman spectra reveal the anatase phase of both TiO2 and Bi2O3/TiO2 nanocomposites. X-ray diffraction patterns demonstrate that the bismuth ions did not enter into the lattice of TiO2, and Bi2O3 is extremely dispersive on the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles. The incorporation of Bi2O3 in TiO2 leads to the spectral response of TiO2 in the visible light region and efficient separation of charge carriers. The enhanced visible light activity is tested by the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange under light illumination, and the performance of Bi2O3/TiO2 nanocomposites are superior than that of pure TiO2 which is ascribed to the efficient charge separation and transfer across the Bi2O3/TiO2 junction. Bi2O3/TiO2 nanocomposite (20 mg) loaded with 0.25 of Bi2O3 dispersed in 50 ml of 5 ppm methyl orange solution exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity of 98.86% within 240 min of irradiation, which is attributed to the low band gap, high surface area, and the strong interaction between Bi2O3 and TiO2.  相似文献
