The electronic structure of disordered Pd3Fe is studied within an almost self-consistent KKR-CPA procedures. Our starting point are the self-consistent potentials for the ordered ferromagnetic Pd3Fe obtained by the LMTO method. We perform the ferromagnetic calculation and examine the influence of disorder on the electronic structure of this alloy through the analysis of the Bloch spectral functions and densities of states and compare our results with experiment. We also propose a mechanism for the formation of magnetic moments in ferromagnetic alloys.  相似文献

Substituting Eu by Ca in ferromagnetic EuB6 leads to a percolation limited magnetic ordering. We present and discuss magneto-optical data of the Eu(1-x)Ca(x)B6 series, based on measurements of the reflectivity R(omega) from the far infrared up to the ultraviolet, as a function of temperature and magnetic field. Via the Kramers-Kronig transformation of R(omega) we extract the complete absorption spectra of samples with different values of x. The change of the spectral weight in the Drude component by increasing the magnetic field agrees with a scenario based on the double-exchange model, and suggests a crossover from a ferromagnetic metal to a ferromagnetic Anderson insulator upon increasing Ca content at low temperatures.  相似文献

We analyze microscopically the valence and impurity band models of ferromagnetic (Ga,Mn)As. We find that the tight-binding Anderson approach with conventional parametrization and the full potential local-density approximation+U calculations give a very similar band structure whose microscopic spectral character is consistent with the physical premise of the k·p kinetic-exchange model. On the other hand, the various models with a band structure comprising an impurity band detached from the valence band assume mutually incompatible microscopic spectral character. By adapting the tight-binding Anderson calculations individually to each of the impurity band pictures in the single Mn impurity limit and then by exploring the entire doping range, we find that a detached impurity band does not persist in any of these models in ferromagnetic (Ga,Mn)As.  相似文献

Intensities and positions of resonance lines are calculated for the ferromagnetic resonance spectra of multilayer ferromagnetic films in a magnetic field oriented normally to the film surface. It is shown that the positions of spectral lines depend on the number of ferromagnetic layers, while the line intensities are determined by the phase shift between the oscillations of the magnetic moments of neighboring layers. A qualitative comparison is carried out between the results of calculations and the spectra observed in experiments.  相似文献

We investigate the electronic structure of the two-dimensional t–J model in a transverse external static magnetic field with canted long-range magnetic order using cluster perturbation theory. The distribution of the spectral weight in the whole range of fields from zero to ferromagnetic saturation is explored. We demonstrate the possibility of a sharp change in a distribution of spectral weight at the Fermi level associated with the magnetic correlations when varying magnetic field.  相似文献

We investigate the spectral function of a hole moving in the orbital-ordered ferromagnetic planes of LaMnO3, and show that it depends critically on the type of orbital ordering. While the hole does not couple to the spin excitations, it interacts strongly with the excitations of e(g) orbitals (orbitons), leading to a new type of quasiparticle with a dispersion on the orbiton energy scale and with strongly enhanced mass and reduced weight. Therefore we predict a large redistribution of spectral weight with respect to the bands found in local density approximation (LDA) or in LDA+U.  相似文献

Giant magnetic linear dichroism (MLD) is observed in the ferromagnetic semiconductor Ga(0.98)Mn(0.02)As. The contribution to this effect induced by the spontaneous magnetization can be clearly identified by azimuthal dependencies. The spectral dependence of the effect in the range from 1.4 to 2.4 eV shows that the MLD induced by the spontaneous magnetization is strongly enhanced for excitations from the electronic states that are responsible for the ferromagnetism in this material. This spectral sensitivity and the size of the effect makes MLD a powerful tool for the study of (III, Mn)V alloys and similar novel ferromagnetic semiconductors.  相似文献

GaMnAs layers grown by pulsed laser deposition were studied by magneto-optical transversal Kerr effect spectroscopy, spectral ellipsometry, resistivity and the Hall effect measurements, and magnetometry. The growth regimes for magnetically inhomogeneous layers containing Mn-enriched ferromagnetic regions with different composition and sizes were established. The layers grown at a temperature of 300°C exhibit a ferromagnetic behavior at temperatures below 80 K, which is conditioned by the presence of local ferromagnetic (Ga,Mn)As regions in the paramagnetic matrix. The nature of peculiarities in the TKE spectrum of these layers is discussed.  相似文献

A microscopic theory for rare-earth ferromagnetic hexaborides, such as Eu1-xCaxB6, is proposed on the basis of the double-exchange Hamiltonian. In these systems, the reduced carrier concentrations place the Fermi level near the mobility edge, introduced in the spectral density by the disordered spin background. We show that the transport properties such as the Hall effect, magnetoresistance, frequency dependent conductivity, and dc resistivity can be quantitatively described within the model. We also make specific predictions for the behavior of the Curie temperature T(C) as a function of the plasma frequency omega(p).  相似文献

Colloids of cobalt-substituted magnetite are investigated using ferromagnetic resonance. It is found that the ferromagnetic resonance spectrum consists of two spectral lines. The intensity ratio of these lines depends on the size of the magnetic particles. The experimental results are interpreted in the framework of the Raikher-Stepanov theory. It is established that the average radius of particles increases with increasing time.  相似文献

An approximate scheme determining basic parameters of the electronic spectral density in the s-d model of ferromagnetic semiconductors is suggested which well interpolates between the low and high temperature régimes. The method is based on fitting the lowest momenta of the spectral density and yields no exceptional behaviour of the electronic spectrum at the Curie temperature.  相似文献

A study of the d-dimensional classical Heisenberg ferromagnetic model in the presence of a magnetic field is performed within the two-time Green function’s framework in classical statistical physics. We extend the well known quantum Callen method to derive analytically a new formula for magnetization. Although this formula is valid for any dimensionality, we focus on one- and three- dimensional models and compare the predictions with those arising from a different expression suggested many years ago in the context of the classical spectral density method. Both frameworks give results in good agreement with the exact numerical transfer-matrix data for the one-dimensional case and with the exact high-temperature-series results for the three-dimensional one. In particular, for the ferromagnetic chain, the zero-field susceptibility results are found to be consistent with the exact analytical ones obtained by M.E. Fisher. However, the formula derived in the present paper provides more accurate predictions in a wide range of temperatures of experimental and numerical interest.  相似文献

Nachtergaele obtained explicit lower bounds for the spectral gap above many frustration free quantum spin chains by using the martingale method. We present simple improvements to his main bounds which allow one to obtain a sharp lower bound for the spectral gap above the spin-1/2 ferromagnetic XXZ chain. As an illustration of the method, we also calculate a lower bound for the spectral gap of the AKLT model, which is about 1/3 the size of the expected gap.  相似文献

We have performed an in situ photoemission study of Pr1-xCaxMnO3 (PCMO) thin films grown on LaAlO3 (001) substrates and observed the effect of epitaxial strain on the electronic structure. We found that the chemical potential shifted monotonically with doping, unlike bulk PCMO, implying the disappearance of incommensurate charge fluctuations of bulk PCMO. In the valence-band spectra, we found a doping-induced energy shift toward the Fermi level (EF) but there was no spectral weight transfer, which was observed in bulk PCMO. The gap at EF was clearly seen in the experimental band dispersions determined by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and could not be explained by the metallic band structure of the C-type antiferromagnetic state, probably due to localization of electrons along the ferromagnetic chain direction or due to another type of spin-orbital ordering.  相似文献

Magnetic polymer composites filled with microparticles of the nanocrystalline 5BDSR alloy have been studied. Measurements have been performed mainly by the ferromagnetic resonance method complemented by other spectroscopic methods. A quasi-stepwise structure of spectra near the direction of the magnetic field perpendicular to the nanocomposite plate has been found. It has been shown that incorporation of nanoparticles of technical carbon into the composite leads to a nonmonotonic concentrational dependence of the broadening of spectral lines, which is caused by spatial variations in the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. The ferromagnetic resonance spectrum has been processed by taking into account the scatter of the magnetic anisotropy and demagnetizing factors.  相似文献

59Co NMR measurements on La1-xSrxCoO3 reported here establish unequivocally, for the first time, the coexistence of ferromagnetic regions, spin-glass regions, and hole-poor low spin regions at all x values from 0.1 to 0.5. A zero external field NMR spectrum, which is assigned to the ferromagnetic regions, has a spectral shape that is nearly x independent at 1.9 K, as are the relaxation times, T1 and T2. The integrated spectral area increases rapidly with x up to x = 0.2 and then decreases slightly for larger x. In a field of 9.97 T, a narrow NMR line is observed at 102 MHz, identical to that found in x = 0 samples in previous work. The integrated intensity of this spectrum decreases rapidly with increasing x, and is ascribed to hole-poor low spin regions. Beneath this spectrum, a third broad line, with a peak at 100 MHz, is assigned to a spin- or cluster-glass-like phase.  相似文献
