Pattern dynamics plays a fundamental role in biological functions from cell to organ in living systems, and the appearance of rotating waves can lead to pathological situations. Basic dynamics of rotating waves of contraction-relaxation activity under local perturbation is studied in a newly developed protoplasmic droplet of the Physarum plasmodium. A light pulse is applied by irradiating circularly a quarter of the droplet showing a single rotating wave. The oscillation pattern changes abruptly only when the irradiation is applied at a part of the droplet near the maximal contraction. The abrupt changes are as follows: the rotating wave disappears or is displaced when the irradiation area is very close to the center of the rotating wave, while new rotating waves are created when the irradiation area is far from the center of the rotating wave. These results support the hypothesis that the phase response curve has a discontinuous change (type 0 resetting) from delay to advance around the maximal contraction. The significance of the results is discussed in relation to “vulnerability” in excitable media and biological systems in general.  相似文献

Non-linear waves of excitation are found in various biological, physical and chemical systems and are often accompanied by deformations of the medium. In this paper, we numerically study wave propagation in a deforming excitable medium using a two-variable reaction-diffusion system coupled with equations of continuum mechanics. We study the appearance and dynamics of different excitation patterns organized by pacemakers that occur in the medium as a result of deformation. We also study the interaction of several pacemakers with each other and the characteristics of pacemakers in the presence of heterogeneities in the medium. We found that mechanical deformation not only induces pacemakers, but also has a pronounced effect on spatial organization of various excitation patterns. We show how these effects are modulated by the size of the medium, the location of the initial stimulus, and the properties of the reaction-diffusion-mechanics feedback.  相似文献

以复金兹堡一朗道方程为模型,利用数值实验方法观察了时空系统中螺旋波斑图的演化行为,发现在局域非均匀参数条件下,系统的螺旋波可以受到该杂质区域的影响而演化成为稳定的靶波.研究表明,内传的螺旋波转换为稳定靶波的必要条件是非杂质系统和杂质系统的振荡频率相等且小于系统的固有频率,并在参数一频率空间形成一个特殊的V形区域,进一步分析表明,该V形区域具有左右对称、两侧靶波传播方向相反以及随杂质区域参数α_2的增大而向参数β_2减小方向平移等性质.  相似文献

大脑皮层在一定条件下可以自发出现螺旋波和平面波,为了了解这些有序波的产生机制,构造了一个双层的二维神经元网络.该网络由最近邻兴奋性耦合和长程抑制性耦合层组成,采用修改后的Hindmarsh-Rose神经元模型研究了该混沌神经元网络从具有随机相位分布的初态演化是否能自发出现各种有序波.数值模拟结果表明:当抑制性耦合强度比较小时,系统一般不会自发出现有序波;在兴奋性耦合强度足够大的情况下,抑制性耦合强度越大,系统越容易产生有序波.系统出现不同的有序波与系统初态和耦合强度有密切关系,适当选择兴奋性和抑制性耦合的耦合强度,系统会自发出现迷宫斑图、平面波、单螺旋波、多螺旋波、旋转方向相反的螺旋波对、双臂螺旋波、靶波、向内方形波等有序波斑图.螺旋波、迷宫斑图和内向方形波出现概率分别达到27.5%, 21.5%和10.0%,这里的迷宫斑图是由不同传播方向的许多平面波组成,其他有序波出现概率比较小.研究结果有助于理解发生在大脑皮层中的自组织现象.  相似文献

在固井质量评价中主要利用套管中模式波的幅度或衰减变化反映水泥的胶结状况,不同测井仪器在套管中激发的模式波的类型不同,研究套管中各模式波的传播特征和影响因素可充分挖掘测量数据的潜在应用价值。CBL和SBT等测井仪器在套管中主要激发拉伸波,类同于平板中的零阶对称Lamb波,水泥环封隔测井仪器的斜入射模式在套管中主要激发套管弯曲波,类同于平板中的零阶反对称Lamb波,垂直入射模式激发套管共振波,类同于平板中的高阶对称Lamb波。该文重点分析了这些模式波的衰减特征及其对微环的响应,套管弯曲波在套后耦合轻质水泥时对微环不敏感,但在套后耦合常规水泥或重水泥时,其衰减明显高于胶结良好的状况;拉伸波对微环的存在最为敏感;套管共振波对微环不敏感。  相似文献

The radiation of elastic waves from a localized source is observed experimentally in a two-dimensional plasma crystal. An initial shear stress applied by a laser forms a small dipole source. The emerging complex wave pattern is shown to consist of outgoing compressional and shear wave pulses. Subsequent structures are identified as inward-going waves due to the finite size of the source region, which reappear on the opposite side. The compressional wave forms a trailing wave train due to strong dispersion, while the nondispersive shear wave evolves into a vortex-antivortex pair on either side. The experiments are compared with a molecular-dynamics simulation.  相似文献

We investigate theoretically and experimentally the capillary-gravity waves created by a small object moving steadily at the water-air interface along a circular trajectory. It is well established that, for straight uniform motion, no steady waves appear at velocities below the minimum phase velocity c(min)=23 cm s(-1). We demonstrate that no such velocity threshold exists for a steady circular motion, for which, even for small velocities, a finite wave drag is experienced by the object. This wave drag originates from the emission of a spiral-like wave pattern. Our results are in good agreement with direct experimental observations of the wave pattern created by a circularly moving needle in contact with water. Our study leads to new insights into the problem of animal locomotion at the water-air interface.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate spatiotemporal pattern formation in excitable media with only a long-range link. Besides the trivial solutions of spiral patterns, we find the asymptotic self-sustained target waves in the autonomous tissues. The wave source supporting this kind of new pattern is the oscillatory one-dimensional Winfree-loop self-organized under the presence of a long-range link, which is explored by the dominant phase-advanced driving method. Based on this understanding we can effectively regulate the oscillations of excitable media by suitably arranging the long-range link, including construction of self-sustained target waves with controllable period and wave length, or manipulation of system states between different patterns.  相似文献

The competition of waves has remained a hot topic in physics over the past few decades,especially the area of pattern control.Because of improved understanding of various dynamic behaviors,many practical applications have sprung up recently.The prediction of wave competitions is also very important and quite useful in these fields.This paper considers the behaviors of wave competitions in simple,inhomogeneous media which is modeled by Brusselator equations.We present a simple rule to judge the results of wave competitions utilizing the dispersion relation curves and the waves coming from different wave sources.Moreover,this rule can also be used to predict the results of wave propagation.It provides methods of obtaining the desired waves with given frequencies in inhomogeneous media.All our results are concluded and verified by computer simulations.  相似文献

In this paper, we experimentally investigate the pattern transition of two-dimensional Faraday waves at an extremely shallow depth in a Hele-Shaw cell. Several patterns of Faraday waves are observed, which have some significant differences in wave profile, wave height and wave length. It is found that, in a wide range of the forcing frequency f, there always exists a region of the acceleration amplitude A, in which there exist the so-called hysteretic jumps between different patterns of Faraday waves. All of these experimental observations could enrich our knowledges about the Faraday waves and would be helpful to the further theoretical studies on the related topic in future.  相似文献

研究了复Ginzburg-Landau方程系统中模螺旋波与其他斑图在同一平面内的竞争行为,发现演化结果在系统参数平面内可分为四个主要区域:在I区和III区中,模螺旋波与相螺旋波相比稳定性较差,模螺旋波的空间被相螺旋波所入侵.在II区中,模螺旋波具有较强的稳定性,相螺旋波的空间被模螺旋波所入侵.在IV区内,由于时空混沌所导致的频率不稳定性,演化的结果较为复杂.我们通过对模螺旋波、相螺旋波以及时空混沌的频率分析,发现当模螺旋波的系统参数为α1=-1.34,β1=0.35时,较高频率的模螺旋波具有较好的稳定性,高频模螺旋波可以入侵低频斑图空间.竞争结果主要受系统变量实部的频率影响,频率分析所得到的理论结果与数值实验结果符合得非常好.  相似文献

Autapse is a type of synapse that connects axon and dendrites of the same neuron, and the effect is often detected by close-loop feedback in axonal action potentials to the owned dendritic tree. An artificial autapse was introduced into the Hindmarsh-Rose neuron model, and a regular network was designed to detect the regular pattern formation induced by autapse. It was found that target wave emerged in the network even when only a single autapse was considered. By increasing the(autapse density) number of neurons with autapse, for example, a regular area(2×2, 3×3, 4×4, 5×5 neurons) under autapse induced target wave by selecting the feedback gain and time-delay in autapse. Spiral waves were also observed under optimized feedback gain and time delay in autapses because of coherence-like resonance in the network induced by some electric autapses connected to some neurons. This confirmed that the electric autapse has a critical role in exciting and regulating the collective behaviors of neurons by generating stable regular waves(target waves, spiral waves) in the network. The wave length of the induced travelling wave(target wave, spiral wave), because of local effect of autapse, was also calculated to understand the waveprofile in the network of neurons.  相似文献

A model of a ferromagnet with nonuniform dissipation is introduced for the Landau-Lifshitz equations. It is shown that in this model a ferromagnet can be regarded as an oscillating active medium where the formation of autowave structures — spin autowaves, pacemakers, and spiral waves — is possible. 以Barkley模型为对象,研究了可激介质的非均匀性对螺旋波斑图形成的影响.该模型中各参数与可激介质的属性密切相关,通过参数涨落的正态分布来刻画非均匀性,数值研究了单参数以及多参数涨落的正态分布情形下螺旋波斑图的形成.研究表明,可激介质的非均匀性对于螺旋波波纹的粗细及疏密程度有较大影响.参数涨落分布的方差越大,形成的螺旋波波纹越粗糙.对于两参数均匀分布的极端情形,当参数分布大于某一范围,无法形成螺旋波.这些都与螺旋波旋转的角频率密切相关.螺旋波旋转的角频率越大,螺旋波波纹越粗,同时波纹越密集;反之,螺旋波 关键词: 螺旋波 非均匀介质 Barkley模型  相似文献

Elementary excitations of a new type in paramagnetic materials with spin-orbit interaction are predicted theoretically within the Rashba model and named the spin remagnetization waves. These normal modes arise from rotation of the spin magnetic moment in a medium where the electric field contains a constant component and a traveling wave component. A method is proposed for exciting these vibrations by illuminating the sample with an oscillating interference pattern. The spin remagnetization waves can be experimentally detected by measuring the dependence of the current through the sample on the oscillation frequency and wave vector of the interference pattern.  相似文献

A new method for phase-shifting interferometry based on wave amplitude modulation is proposed and discussed. This proposal is based on the interference of three waves, where two waves attend as two reference waves and the other wave attends as a probe wave. Thereby, three interference terms are obtained, but because a phase difference of π/2 between the two references is kept constant, one of the three terms will be dropped, while the two remaining will be put in quadrature. Under these conditions, the resulting pattern is mathematically modeled by an interferogram of two waves, where an additional phase is given by the amplitude variations of the reference waves. In this Letter, both a theoretical model and some numerical simulations are presented.  相似文献

We discuss the results of studies of surface-wave transformation by nonuniform flows, performed in the tank of the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IAP RAS), and the results of modelling of the influence of iceberg motion on regular background internal waves in the subsurface pycnocline.Transformation of surface waves in the flow field past an immersed sphere is studied both experimentally and theoretically. It is shown that even fairly weak nonuniform flows can cause noticeable changes in the surface-wave field. The sizes of the spatial region in which the characteristics of the surface waves are changed exceed considerably the sizes of the nonuniform-flow region. It is found that the nonlinearity of surface waves leads to an increase in the variability of the surface-wave amplitude in a broad frequency range. The proposed theoretical model describes well the main experimentally observed features of the transformation of nonlinear surface waves in the nonuniform-flow field.It is proved experimentally that background internal waves with frequencies close to those of internal waves in an iceberg wake lead to a considerable transformation of the field of lee waves. The parameters of the resulting wave system are independent of characteristic horizontal sizes of the iceberg model and the length of the internal wave. The total wave system is stationary in the entire velocity range of the model in the case of counterpropagation of background waves. In the case of copropagation of background waves, the nature of the wave system depends on the ratio between the towing velocity and the phase velocity of background waves. In particular, the wave system in the wake can have both a pronounced nonstationary nature and a typical stationary phase pattern.  相似文献

A nonlinear theory of pattern selection in parametric surface waves (Faraday waves) is presented that is not restricted to small viscous dissipation. By using a multiple scale asymptotic expansion near threshold, a standing wave amplitude equation is derived from the governing equations. The amplitude equation is of gradient form, and the coefficients of the associated Lyapunov function are computed for regular patterns of various symmetries as a function of a viscous damping parameter gamma. For gamma approximately 1, the selected wave pattern comprises a single standing wave (stripe pattern). For gamma<1, patterns of square symmetry are obtained in the capillary regime (large frequencies). At lower frequencies (the mixed gravity-capillary regime), a sequence of sixfold (hexagonal), eightfold, ...patterns are predicted. For even lower frequencies (gravity waves) a stripe pattern is again selected. Our predictions of the stability regions of the various patterns are in quantitative agreement with recent experiments conducted in large aspect ratio systems.  相似文献

Image formation in a collinear holographic storage system was analyzed. The wavefront from each pixel of a spatial light modulator was regarded as a plane wave in the recording medium, and its wave vector was determined by the position of the pixel. The hologram in the recording medium was treated as the summation of all gratings written by all combinations of two plane waves. The image of a data page was formed by diffraction of the reference waves by all gratings. The results of the simulation showed good agreement with experiment. We introduced the pixel spread function to describe the image formation characteristics. Analysis of the pixel spread function reveals that a radial-line pixel pattern for reference waves gave a sharper image than other reference pixel patterns. It is also shown that a random phase modulation applied to each reference pixel improved the image formation.  相似文献
