We study the temperature dependence of bottomonium for temperatures in the range 0.4T(c) < T < 2.1T(c), using nonrelativistic dynamics for the bottom quark and full relativistic lattice QCD simulations for Nf = 2 light flavors on a highly anisotropic lattice. We find that the Υ is insensitive to the temperature in this range, while the χb propagators show a crossover from the exponential decay characterizing the hadronic phase to a power-law behavior consistent with nearly free dynamics at T ? 2T(c).  相似文献

The ground state of three flavor quark matter at asymptotically large density is believed to be the color-flavor-locked (CFL) phase. At nonasymptotic density the effect of the nonzero strange quark mass cannot be neglected. If the strange quark mass exceeds m(s) approximately m(u)(1/3)delta(2/3), the CFL state becomes unstable toward the formation of a neutral kaon condensate. Recently, several authors discovered that for m(s) approximately (2deltap(F))(1/2) the CFL state contains gapless fermions, and that the gapless modes lead to an instability in current-current correlation functions. Using an effective theory of the CFL state, we demonstrate that this instability can be resolved by the formation of a meson supercurrent, analogous to Migdal's p-wave pion condensate. This state has a nonzero meson current that is canceled by a backflow of gapless fermions.  相似文献

We investigate the residual chromomagnetic nonperturbative interaction between colour sources which survives above the deconfinement temperature. This interaction is demonstrated to be attractive enough to support bound states of quarks (and gluons). Although, for heavy quarks, such bound states appear to be very shallow and thus to dissociate easily, for light quarks (and gluons), the interaction is found to be strong enough to lead to quark (gluon) pair creation in the vacuum and thus to a complete rebuild of the vacuum state. We show that in very dense quark matter there must exist metastable domain walls where the axial U(1) phase of the color-superconducting condensate changes by 2pi. The decay rate of the domain walls is exponentially suppressed and we compute it semiclassically. We give an estimate of the critical chemical potential above which our analysis is under theoretical control.  相似文献

We investigate the effects of an external magnetic field in the gap structure of a color superconductor with three massless quark flavors. Using an effective theory with four-fermion interactions, inspired by one-gluon exchange, we show that the long-range component B of the external magnetic field that penetrates the color-flavor locked phase modifies its gap structure, producing a new phase of lower symmetry. A main outcome of our study is that the B field tends to strengthen the gaps formed by Q-charged and Q-neutral quarks that coupled among themselves through tree-level vertices. These gaps are enhanced by the field-dependent density of states of the Q-charged quarks on the Fermi surface. Our considerations are relevant for the study of highly magnetized compact stars.  相似文献

We present results for the chiral and deconfinement transition of two flavor QCD at finite temperature and chemical potential. To this end we study the quark condensate and its dual, the dressed Polyakov loop, with functional methods using a set of Dyson-Schwinger equations. The quark propagator is determined self-consistently within a truncation scheme including temperature and in-medium effects of the gluon propagator. For the chiral transition we find a crossover turning into a first order transition at a critical endpoint at large quark chemical potential, μEP/TEP≈3. For the deconfinement transition we find a pseudo-critical temperature above the chiral transition in the crossover region but coinciding transition temperatures close to the critical endpoint.  相似文献

We report preliminary results on the chiral and deconfinement aspects of the QCD transition at finite temperature using the Highly Improved Staggered Quark (HISQ) action on lattices with temporal extent of N τ = 6 and 8. The chiral aspects of the transition are studied in terms of quark condensates and the disconnected chiral susceptibility. We study the deconfinement transition in terms of the strange quark number susceptibility and the renormalized Polyakov loop. We find reasonably good agreement between our results and the recent continuum extrapolated results obtained with the stout staggered quark action.  相似文献

We study the3 P 0 quark-antiquark pair condensation in QCD, representing the gluon-interaction approximately by instantaneous Coulomb plus Breit potential. Particular attention is paid to non-uniqueness of the solution of the gap equation. The genuine dynamical solution can be characterized by a rapidly convergent behavior at large momentum, as was recognized in covariant formulations of Landau gauge. We impose the required behavior and make a numerical study of the chiral condensation.  相似文献

Paramagnetism of gluons is shown to play the basic role in establishing main properties of QCD: IR freezing and asymptotic freedom (AF). Starting with Polyakov background field approach the first terms of background perturbation theory are calculated and shown to ensure not only the classical result of AF but also IR freezing. For the latter only the confining property of the background is needed, and the effective mass entering the IR freezing logarithms is calculated in good agreement with phenomenology and lattice data.  相似文献

TheJ/Ψ production in 158 A GeV Pb-Pb interactions is studied, in the dimuon decay channel, as a function of centrality, as measured with the electromagnetic or, alternatively, with the very forward hadronic calorimeters. After a first sharp variation at mid-centrality, both patterns continue to fall down and exhibit a curvature change at high centrality values. This trend excludes any conventional hadronic model and finds a natural explanation in a deconfined quark-gluon phase scenario.
