In this study we synthesized two acid‐/base‐controllable [2]rotaxanes featuring aminodiazobenzene and aminocoumarin units, respectively, as chromophores and dibenzo[24]crown‐8 and dibenzo[25]crown‐8 units, respectively, as their macrocyclic components. Each [2]rotaxane contained N‐alkylarylamine (ammonium) and N,N‐dialkylamine (ammonium) centers as binding sites for their crown ether components. The absorption patterns of the chromophores were dependent on the position of the encircling macrocyclic component and the degree of protonation, with three distinct states (under acidic, neutral, and basic conditions) evident for each [2]rotaxane. The mixed [2]rotaxane system displayed stepwise and independent molecular shuttling behavior based on the degree of protonation of the amino groups in response to both the amount and strength of added acids or bases; as such, the system provided five different absorption signals as outputs that could be read using UV/Vis spectroscopy.  相似文献

A template-directed strategy to forming a bis(diimide) macrocycle through an intermediate asymmetric [2]catenane is reported. Saponification of the ester linkages within the crown ether component is much slower in the mechanically interlocked structure when compared to the free crown. The predominance of a single translational isomer leads to a dimeric structure, resulting in the generation of infinite channels within the crystal lattice. [structure: see text]  相似文献

We report the synthesis of two [2]catenane‐containing struts that are composed of a tetracationic cyclophane (TC4+) encircling a 1,5‐dioxynaphthalene (DNP)‐based crown ether, which bears two terphenylene arms. The TC4+ rings comprise either 1) two bipyridinium (BIPY2+) units or 2) a BIPY2+ and a diazapyrenium (DAP2+) unit. These degenerate and nondegenerate catenanes were reacted in the presence of Cu(NO3)2?2.5 H2O to yield Cu‐paddlewheel‐based MOF‐1050 and MOF‐1051. The solid‐state structures of these MOFs reveal that the metal clusters serve to join the heptaphenylene struts into grid‐like 2D networks. These 2D sheets are then held together by infinite donor–acceptor stacks involving the [2]catenanes to produce interpenetrated 3D architectures. As a consequence of the planar chirality associated with both the DNP and hydroquinone (HQ) units present in the crown ether, each catenane can exist as four stereoisomers. In the case of the nondegenerate (bistable) catenane, the situation is further complicated by the presence of translational isomers. Upon crystallization, however, only two of the four possible stereoisomers—namely, the enantiomeric RR and SS forms—are observed in the crystals. An additional element of co‐conformational selectivity is present in MOF‐1051 as a consequence of the substitution of one of the BIPY2+ units by a DAP2+ unit: only the translational isomer in which the DAP2+ unit is encircled by the crown ether is observed. The overall topologies of MOF‐1050 and MOF‐1051, and the selective formation of stereoisomers and translational isomers during the kinetically driven crystallization, provide evidence that weak noncovalent bonding interactions play a significant role in the assembly of these extended (super)structures.  相似文献

Rotacatenanes are exotic molecular compounds that can be visualized as a unique combination of a [2]catenane and a [2]rotaxane, thereby combining both the circumrotation of the ring component (rotary motion) and the shuttling of the dumbbell component (translational motion) in one structure. Herein, we describe a strategy for the synthesis of a new switchable [3]rotacatenane and the investigation of its switching properties, which rely on the formation of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) radical π-dimer interactions-namely, the mixed-valence state (TTF(2) )(+.) and the radical-cation dimer state (TTF(+.) )(2) -under ambient conditions. A template-directed approach, based on donor-acceptor interactions, has been developed, resulting in an improved yield of the key precursor [2]catenane, prior to rotacatenation. The nature of the binding between the [2]catenane and selected π-electron-rich templates has been elucidated by using X-ray crystallography and UV/Vis spectroscopy as well as isothermal titration microcalorimetry. The multistate switching mechanism of the [3]rotacatenane has been demonstrated by cyclic voltammetry and EPR spectroscopy. Most notably, the radical-cation dimer state (TTF(+.) )(2) has been shown to enter into an equilibrium by forming the co-conformation in which the two 1,5-dioxynaphthalene (DNP) units co-occupy the cavity of tetracationic cyclophane, thus enforcing the separation of TTF radical-cation dimer (TTF(+.) )(2) . The population ratio of this equilibrium state was found to be 1:1. We believe that this research demonstrates the power of constructing complex molecular machines using template-directed protocols, enabling us to make the transition from simple molecular switches to their multistate variants for enhancing information storage in molecular electronic devices.  相似文献

In this study, we synthesized [2]rotaxanes possessing three recognition sites—a dialkylammonium, an alkylarylamine, and a tetra(ethylene glycol) stations—in their dumbbell‐like axle component and dibenzo[24]crown‐8 (DB24C8) as their macrocyclic component. These [2]rotaxanes behaved as four‐state molecular shuttles: i) under acidic conditions, the DB24C8 unit encircled both the dialkylammonium and alkylarylammonium stations; ii) under neutral conditions, the dialkylammonium unit was the predominant station for the DB24C8 component; iii) under basic conditions, when both ammonium centers were deprotonated, the alkylarylamine unit became a suitable station for the DB24C8 component; and iv) under basic conditions in the presence of an alkali‐metal cation, the tetra(ethylene glycol) unit recognized the DB24C8 component through cooperative binding of the alkali‐metal ion. In addition, we observed that the [2]rotaxanes exhibited selective recognition for metal cations. These shuttling motions of the macrocyclic component proceeded reversibly.  相似文献

In pursuit of a neutral bistable [2]rotaxane made up of two tetraarylmethane stoppers--both carrying one isopropyl and two tert-butyl groups located at the para positions on each of three of the four aryl rings--known to permit the slippage of the pi-electron-donating 1,5-dinaphtho[38]crown-10 (1/5DNP38C10) at the thermodynamic instigation of pi-electron-accepting recognition sites, in this case, pyromellitic diimide (PmI) and 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylate diimide (NpI) units separated from each other along the rod section of the rotaxane's dumbbell component, and from the para positions of the fourth aryl group of the two stoppers by pentamethylene chains, a modular approach was employed in the synthesis of the dumbbell-shaped compound NpPmD, as well as of its two degenerate counterparts, one (PmPmD) which contains two PmI units and the other (NpNpD) which contains two NpI units. The bistable [2]rotaxane NpPmR, as well as its two degenerate analogues PmPmR and NpNpR, were obtained from the corresponding dumbbell-shaped compounds NpPmD, PmPmD, and NpNpD and 1/5DNP38C10 by slippage. Dynamic 1H NMR spectroscopy in CD2Cl2 revealed that shuttling of the 1/5DNP38C10 ring occurs in NpNpR and PmPmR, with activation barriers of 277 K of 14.0 and 10.9 kcal mol(-1), respectively, reflecting a much more pronounced donor-acceptor stabilizing interaction involving the NpI units over the PmI ones. The photophysical and electrochemical properties of the three neutral [2]rotaxanes and their dumbbell-shaped precursors have also been investigated in CH2Cl2. Interactions between 1/5DNP38C10 and PmI and NpI units located within the rod section of the dumbbell components of the [2]rotaxane give rise to the appearance of charge-transfer bands, the energies of which correlate with the electron-accepting properties of the two diimide moieties. Comparison between the positions of the visible absorption bands in the three [2]rotaxanes shows that, in NpPmR, the major translational isomer is the one in which 1/5DNP38C10 encircles the NpI unit. Correlations of the reduction potentials for all the compounds studied confirm that, in this non-degenerate [2]rotaxane, one of the translational isomers predominates. Furthermore, after deactivation of the NpI unit by one-electron reduction, the 1/5DNP38C10 macrocycle moves to the PmI unit. Li+ ions have been found to strengthen the interaction between the electron-donating crown ether and the electron-accepting diimide units, particularly the PmI one. Titration experiments show that two Li+ ions are involved in the strengthening of the donor-acceptor interaction. Addition of Li+ ions to NpPmR induces the 1/5DNP38C10 macrocycle to move from the NpI to the PmI unit. The Li+-ion-promoted switching of NpPmR in a 4:1 mixture of CD2Cl2 and CD3COCD3 has also been shown by 1H NMR spectroscopy to involve the mechanical movement of the 1/5DNP38C10 macrocycle from the NpI to the PmI unit, a process that can be reversed by adding an excess of [12]crown-4 to sequester the Li+ ions.  相似文献

Two dibenzo cyclic ether compounds, 6,12‐dibromodibenzo[d,i]‐1,2,3,6,7,8‐hexahydro‐1,3‐dioxecin (systematic name: 8,16‐dibromo‐2,4‐dioxatricyclo[12.4.0.05,10]octadeca‐5,7,9,14,16,18‐hexaene), C16H14Br2O2, (II), and 8,14‐dibromodibenzo[f,k]‐1,5‐dioxa‐1,2,3,4,5,8,9,10‐octahydrocyclododecene (systematic name: 7,19‐dibromo‐11,15‐dioxatricyclo[14.4.0.05,10]icosa‐5,7,9,16,18,20‐hexaene), C18H18Br2O2, (III), were prepared as scaffolding for phosphate‐anion receptors. In both compounds, the two aromatic rings are linked by three methylene units ortho to the oxygen substituent of each ring. The only difference between the two compounds is the number of methylene units linking the two ether O atoms. The dibenzo cyclic ether with an ether linkage of one methylene unit adopts a chair‐like conformation, where the two aromatic rings are parallel to each other. On the other hand, the dibenzo cyclic ether with an oxygen linkage of three methylene units adopts a bowl‐like conformation. The latter scaffold configuration is the only structure of the two that would allow for the placement of convergent functional groups necessary for the establishment of an anion‐selective binding pocket.  相似文献

An approach to the study of polyvalency-the interaction of polyvalent receptors with polyvalent ligands-in unnatural systems is outlined. In this study, the complexation of dibenzylammonium cations by dibenzo[24]crown-8 or benzometaphenylene[25]crown-8 is utilized as the component receptor-ligand interaction. Two analogous multivalent receptors-each containing either seven dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8 CLUSTER) or seven benzometaphenylene[25]crown-8 (BMP25C8 CLUSTER) moieties appended to a modified beta-cyclodextrin core-were prepared in moderate yields. For each of these multivalent receptors, complementary mono- and divalent ligands containing one or two dialkylammonium centers, respectively, were prepared in good yields. These ligands contained fluorine atom substituents to allow their interactions with crown ether compounds to be probed by (19)F NMR spectroscopy. The complexation of these monovalent ligands with the DB24C8 CLUSTER and the BMP25C8 CLUSTER was studied by determining the average binding constant (K(AVE)) between the receptors and ligands. The abilities of the crown ether clusters to complex with these monovalent ligands was compared with those of the monovalent crown ethers dibenzo[24]crown-8 and benzometaphenylene[25]crown-8. In both instances, it was found that clustering seven crown ethers together into one molecule is detrimental to the abilities of the crown ether moieties to complex with monovalent dialkylammonium ligands. The complexation of the divalent ligands by the DB24C8 CLUSTER and the BMP25C8 CLUSTER was then studied-again by determining K(AVE)-and their abilities to complex with these ligands was compared with those of their respective component interactions. By determining K(AVE) for the polyvalent interaction, it was possible to calculate an association constant, K(POLY), for the binding of the divalent ligands by the DB24C8 CLUSTER and the BMP25C8 CLUSTER compounds. In both instances K(POLY) for the polyvalent interaction was found to be approximately 2 orders of magnitude higher than the association constants, K(A), for the component interaction.  相似文献

The template-directed syntheses, employing bisparaphenylene-[34]crown-10 (BPP34C10), 1,5-dinaphthoparaphenylene-[36]crown-10 (1/5NPPP36C10), and 1,5-dinaphtho-[38]crown-10 (1/5DNP38C10) as templates, of three [2]catenanes, whereby one of the two bipyridinium units in cyclobis(paraquat-p-phenylene) is replaced by a bipicolinium unit, are described. The crude reaction mixtures comprising the [2]catenanes all contain slightly more of the homologous [3]catenanes, wherein a "dimeric" octacationic cyclophane has the crown ether macrocycles encircling the alternating bipyridinium units with the bipicolinium units completely unfettered. X-ray crystallography, performed on all three [2]catenanes and two of the three [3]catenanes reveals co-conformational and stereochemical preferences that are stark and pronounced. Both the [3]catenanes crystallize as mixtures of diastereoisomers on account of the axial chirality associated with the picolinium units in the solid state. Dynamic (1)H NMR spectroscopy is employed to probe in solution the relative energy barriers for rotations by the phenylene and pyridinium rings in the tetracationic cyclophane component of the [2]catenanes. Where there are co-conformational changes that are stereochemically "allowed", crown ether circumrotation and rocking processes are also investigated for the relative rates of their occurrence. The outcome is one whereby the three [2]catenanes containing BPP34C10, 1/5NPPP36C10, and 1/5DNP38C10 exist as one major enantiomeric pair of diastereoisomers amongst two, four, and eight diastereoisomeric pairs of enantiomers, respectively. The diastereoisomerism is a consequence of the presence of axial chirality together with helical and/or planar chirality in the same interlocked molecule. These [2]catenanes constitute a rich reserve of new stereochemical types that might be tapped for their switching and mechanical properties.  相似文献

We announce the establishment of a new family of macrocycles—the asararenes, which are based on para‐methylene linked “asarol methyl ether” (1,2,4,5‐tetramethoxybenzene) units. Macrocycles with 6–12 aromatic units have been synthesized and isolated in a single step from asarol methyl ether and paraformaldehyde. Even larger rings, with up to 15 asarol methyl ether units, have been observed by high‐resolution mass spectrometry. Single‐crystal X‐ray structures of asar[6]‐, asar[7]‐, asar[8]‐, asar[9]‐, asar[10]‐ and asar[11]arene highlight the diverse structural features of this family of macrocycles. While the cavities of the asar[6–8]arene macrocycles are mostly filled with methoxyl groups, the asar[9]‐ and asar[10]arene rings contain accessible cavities and self‐assemble into infinite channels filled with solvent molecules in the solid state. These solid‐state structures highlight the potential of this family of macrocycles for a wide range of potential applications.  相似文献

Highly efficient syntheses of donor-acceptor [2]catenanes were developed using a combination of templation and reversible metal-ligand coordination. The desired [2]catenanes were obtained within minutes through a five-component assembly, involving a donor-containing crown ether, an acceptor-containing ligand, two Pd(II) metal centers, and a dipyridyl ligand. The [2]catenane formation was characterized by 1H NMR and UV-vis spectroscopies and cold-spray ionization mass spectrometry. In particular, great translational selectivity was observed when a crown ether with two different donor units was employed.  相似文献

1,3-Bis(p-phenoxybenzenesulfonyl)benzene, 4,4′-bis(p-phenoxybenzenesulfonyl)diphenyl ether, and 4,4′-diphenoxydiphenyl sulfone were polymerized with isophthaloyl or terephthaloyl chlorides in Friedel-Crafts type polymerizations. These polymers had [2,2]p-cyclophane units in the backbone, introduced by employing 3,9-bis(p-phenoxybenzoyl) [2.2]p-cyclophane as part of the polyaryl ether component. Thermolysis of the dimethylene bridge of the [2.2]p-cyclophane monomer produced diradicals which combined across polymer chains to provide crosslinks. p-Cyclophane polymers with 1,3-bis-(p-phenoxybenzenesulfonyl)benzene showed potential as high performance, thermally stable laminating resins.  相似文献

The dibenzo[3n]crown-n were synthesised starting from bis[2-(o-hydroxyphenoxy)ethyl]ether obtained from bis[2-(o-formylphenoxy)ethyl]ether via Baeyer-Villiger oxidation in H2O2/CH3COOH in a good yield. The cyclic condensation ofbis[2-(o-hydroxyphenoxy)ethyl]etherwith tri- and tetraethylene glycol bisdichlorides andthe bisditosylate of pentaethylene glycol in DMF/Me2CO3 afforded the large cyclic ethers of dibenzo[21]crown-7, dibenzo[24]crown-8 and dibenzo[27]crown-9. The structures were analysed with IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and low-resolution mass spectroscopy methods. The Na+, K+, Rb+ and Cs+ cations' recognition of the molecules were conducted withsteady-state fluorescence spectroscopy. The 1:1 association constants, Ka, in acetonitrile were estimated. Dibenzo[21]crown-7 was the best both for K+ and Rb+ binding but showed too small an effect on Cs+. Dibenzo[24]crown-8 exhibited the binding power in the order of Rb+ > K+ > Na+ > Cs+. However, dibenzo[27]crown-9 displayed marked binding with only K+ but not with Rb+ or with Cs+ cations probably due to the heavy atom effect of fluorescence quenching.  相似文献

A novel series of oligophenylene OPP(n)-substituted calix[4]crown-4s bearing up to three phenylene units, 1a-d, has been efficiently synthesized by means of either microwave-assisted or silver(I) ion-assisted Pd-catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling of tetraiodocalix[4]crown-4 and the corresponding oligophenylboronic acids. Complexation of OPP(n)-substituted calix[4]crown-4s with silver (I) ion was substantiated by 1H NMR spectroscopic and high-resolution ESI- or MALDI-TOF- MS studies. The weak binding affinities of OPP(n)-substituted calix[4]crown-4s for silver (I) ion, which were estimated from 1H NMR titrations with binding association in the range of 30-90 M(-1), allows reversible disassembling in the presence of KI at ambient temperature. Remarkably, the single-crystal X-ray structures of OPP(n)-calix[4]crown-4.Ag+ complexes indicate the atypical silver (I) ion-crown ether binding mode resulting in the formation of rigid nanocones with volume created up to approximately 1500 A(3). Our results suggested that despite the weak binding affinity of crown ether ligands for silver (I) ion, this weak interaction is still be useful as a tool to construct supramolecular architectures.  相似文献

Six different degenerate [2]rotaxanes were synthesized and characterized. The rotaxanes contained either two tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) units or two 1,5-dioxynaphthalene (DNP) ring systems, both of which serve as recognition sites for a cyclobis(paraquat-p-phenylene) (CBPQT4+) ring. Three different spacer units were incorporated into the dumbbell components of the [2]rotaxanes between the recognition sites. They include a polyether chain, a terphenyl unit, and a diphenyl ether linker, all of which were investigated in order to probe the effect of the spacers on the rate of the shuttling process. Data from dynamic 1H NMR spectroscopy revealed a relatively small difference in the DeltaG++ values for the shuttling process in the [2]rotaxanes containing the three different spacers, in contrast to a large difference between the TTF-containing rotaxanes (18 kcal mol(-1)) and the DNP-containing rotaxanes (15 kcal mol(-1)). This 3 kcal mol(-1) difference is predominantly a result of a ground-state effect, reflecting the much stronger binding of TTF units to the CBPQT4+ ring in comparison with DNP ring systems. An examination of the enthalpic (DeltaH++) and entropic (DeltaS++) components for the shuttling process in the DNP-containing rotaxanes revealed significant differences between the three spacers, a property which could be important in designing new molecules for incorporation into molecular electronic and nanoelectromechanical (NEMs) devices.  相似文献

The concept of using [2]rotaxanes that carry one or more surrogate stoppers which can subsequently be converted chemically into other structural units, resulting in the formation of new interlocked molecular compounds, is introduced and exemplified. Starting from simple NH2(+)-centered/crown-ether-based [2]rotaxanes, containing either one or two benzylic triphenylphosphonium stoppers, the well-known Wittig reaction has been employed to make, 1) other [2]rotaxanes, 2) higher order rotaxanes, 3) branched rotaxanes, and 4) molecular shuttles--all isolated as pure compounds, following catalytic hydrogenations of their carbon-carbon double bonds, obtained when aromatic aldehydes react with the ylides produced when the benzylic triphenylphosphonium derivatives are treated with strong base. The two starting [2]rotaxanes were characterized fully in solution and also in the solid state by X-ray crystallography. The new interlocked molecular compounds that result from carrying out post-assembly Wittig reactions on two [2]rotaxanes were characterized by (dynamic) 1H NMR spectroscopy. In the case of a molecular shuttle in which the crown ether component is dibenzo[24]-crown-8 (DB24C8), shuttling is slow on the 1H NMR timescale, even at high temperatures. However, when DB24C8 is replaced by benzometaphenylene[25]-crown-8 as the ring component in the molecular shuttle, the frequency of the shuttling is observed to be around 100 Hz in [D4]methanol at 63 degrees C.  相似文献

2,7-Bis[2-(6,7,9,10,12,13,15,16-octahydro-5,8,11,14,17-pentaoxabenzocyclopentadecen-2-yl)vinyl]-benzo[1,2-d;3,4-d']bisthiazole, 2, with crown ether styryl moieties substituted on a heterocyclic core, was synthesized and its complex forming ability with several metal cations was evaluated in acetonitrile by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. The results are compared to those for the analogous ligand possessing a single crown ether styryl moiety. Selective binding of the metal cation at the heterocyclic core of both ligands was observed only for Hg2+. Alkali and alkaline earth cations bind selectively at the crown ether moieties. Stability constants and pure spectra of defined stoichiometry were determined with the use of HYPERQUAD, a least-squares fitting program, and the results were validated in one case by subjecting the titration spectral matrix to singular value decomposition with self-modeling (SVD-SM). The multitopic ligand 2 forms relatively strong 2:2 stoichiometric complexes with K+, among the alkali metal cations, and Ba2+, among the alkaline earth metal cations, and is a promising selective optical sensor for these ions.  相似文献

We report on the kinetics and ground-state thermodynamics associated with electrochemically driven molecular mechanical switching of three bistable [2]rotaxanes in acetonitrile solution, polymer electrolyte gels, and molecular-switch tunnel junctions (MSTJs). For all rotaxanes a pi-electron-deficient cyclobis(paraquat-p-phenylene) (CBPQT4+) ring component encircles one of two recognition sites within a dumbbell component. Two rotaxanes (RATTF4+ and RTTF4+) contain tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) and 1,5-dioxynaphthalene (DNP) recognition units, but different hydrophilic stoppers. For these rotaxanes, the CBPQT4+ ring encircles predominantly (>90 %) the TTF unit at equilibrium, and this equilibrium is relatively temperature independent. In the third rotaxane (RBPTTF4+), the TTF unit is replaced by a pi-extended analogue (a bispyrrolotetrathiafulvalene (BPTTF) unit), and the CBPQT4+ ring encircles almost equally both recognition sites at equilibrium. This equilibrium exhibits strong temperature dependence. These thermodynamic differences were rationalized by reference to binding constants obtained by isothermal titration calorimetry for the complexation of model guests by the CBPQT4+ host in acetonitrile. For all bistable rotaxanes, oxidation of the TTF (BPTTF) unit is accompanied by movement of the CBPQT4+ ring to the DNP site. Reduction back to TTF0 (BPTTF0) is followed by relaxation to the equilibrium distribution of translational isomers. The relaxation kinetics are strongly environmentally dependent, yet consistent with a single electromechanical-switching mechanism in acetonitrile, polymer electrolyte gels, and MSTJs. The ground-state equilibrium properties of all three bistable [2]rotaxanes were reflective of molecular structure in all environments. These results provide direct evidence for the control by molecular structure of the electronic properties exhibited by the MSTJs.  相似文献

Two sets of functionalised calix[4]arenes, either with a 1,3-crown ether bridge or with an open-chain oligo ether moiety in 1,3-position were prepared and further equipped with additional deprotonisable sulfonamide groups to establish chelating systems for selected cations Sr2+, Ba2+, and Pb2+ ions. To improve the complexation behaviour towards these cations, calix[4]arenes with oligo ether groups and modified crowns of different sizes were synthesized. Association constants were determined by UV/Vis titration in acetonitrile using the respective perchlorate salts and logK values between 3.2 and 8.0 were obtained. These findings were supported by the calculation of the binding energies exemplarily for selected complexes with Ba2+.  相似文献

Three beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CyD) derivatives with crown ether units, that is N-(4'-benzo-15-crown-5)-6-imino-6-deoxy-beta-CyD (2), 6,6'-[N-(4,4'-dibenzo-18-crown-6)-imino]-bridged bis(beta-CyD)(3), and 2,2'-[O-(4',5'-benzo-15-crown-5)-ethyl]-bridged bis (beta-CyD)(5), were synthesized as cooperative recognition receptor models. Their molecular binding behavior with four representative fluorescent dyes, i.e., ammonium 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonate (ANS), sodium-6-toluidino-2-naphthalene-sulfonate (TNS), Acridine Red (AR) and Rhodamine B (RhB), was investigated in buffer solutions (pH = 7.20) at 25 degreesC by means of circular dichroism, NMR and fluorescence spectroscopy. 2D-ROESY experiments showed that dyad host 2 and triad host 3 adopted a CyD-guest-crown ether binding mode, while triad host 5 adopted a CyD-guest-CyD binding mode, upon inclusion complexation with guest molecules. Therefore, hosts 2 and 3 showed high molecular recognition ability towards charged guests, giving an enhanced binding ability up to 115 times for ANS by 3 and fairly high molecular selectivity up to 1450 times for the ANS/AR pair by 2 as compared with native beta-CyD in an aqueous phosphate buffer solution. On the other hand, host 5 was found to be able to effectively recognize the shape of a guest molecule, showing significantly higher binding ability towards linear guests. The binding affinities and molecular recognition abilities of these CyD-crown ether conjugates towards guest molecules are discussed from the viewpoint of electrostatic and/or hydrophobic interactions, size/shape-fit concept, and multiple recognition mechanism between host and guest.  相似文献
