The water activities of aqueous electrolyte mixture (NaCl + KCl + LiCl + H2O) were experimentally determined at T = 298.15 K by the hygrometric method at total ionic-strength from 0.4 mol · kg−1 to 6 mol · kg−1 for different ionic-strength fractions y of NaCl with y = 1/3, 1/2, and 2/3. The data allow the deduction of new osmotic coefficients. The results obtained were correlated by Pitzer’s model and Dinane’s mixing rules ECA I and ECA II for calculations of the water activity in mixed aqueous electrolytes. A new Dinane–Pitzer model is proposed for the calculation of osmotic coefficients in quaternary aqueous mixtures using the newly ternary and quaternary ionic mixing parameters of this studied system. The solute activity coefficients of component in the mixture are also determined for different ionic-strength fractions y of NaCl.  相似文献

The mixed aqueous electrolyte system magnesium and manganese sulfate has been studied with the hygrometric method at the temperature 298.15 K. The relative humidity of this system is measured at total molalities from 0.2 mol kg−1 to about saturation of one of the solutes for different ionic-strength fractions y of MgSO4 with y=0.2, 0.5 and 0.8. The obtained data allow the deduction of new thermodynamic parameters. The experimental results are compared with the predictions of ZSR rule. From these measurements, the new Pitzer mixing ionic parameters are determined and used to predict the solute activity coefficients in the mixture. The obtained results are used to calculate the excess Gibbs energy at total molalities for different ionic-strength fractions y of MgSO4.  相似文献

The thermodynamic properties of the mixed aqueous electrolyte of ammonium and alkaline earth metal nitrates have been studied using the hygrometric method at 25?°C. The water activities of these {yNH4NO3+(1?y)Y(NO3)2}(aq) systems with Y ≡ Ba2+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ were measured at total molalities ranging from 0.10 mol?kg?1 to saturation for different NH4NO3 ionic-strength fractions of y=0.20, 0.50 and 0.80. These data allow the calculation of osmotic coefficients. From these measurements, the ionic mixing parameters are determined and used to calculate the solute activity coefficients in the mixtures at different ionic-strength fractions. The results of these ternary solution measurements are compared with those for binary solutions of the alkaline earth nitrates of magnesium, calcium and barium with ammonium nitrates. The behavior of the aqueous electrolyte solutions containing mixtures of barium or calcium or magnesium with ammonium nitrates are correlated and show that ionic interactions are more important for the system containing Mg2+ than for Ca2+ or Ba2+. The trends are mainly due to the effects of the ionic size, polarizability and the hydration of the ions in these solutions.  相似文献

Isopiestic vapor-pressure measurements were made at the temperature 298.15 K for aqueous KCl + MgCl2 solutions using KCl(aq) as the reference standard. The measurements for these ternary solutions were made at KCl ionic strength fractions of y=0.0, 0.1989, 0.3996, 0.5993, 0.7925 and 1.0 (with two additional sets at y=0.0, 0.2021, 0.3998, 0.6125, 0.8209 and 1.0) for the ionic strength range from 0.4014 to 6.2790 mol?kg?1. Our results, and those from two previous isopiestic studies, were combined and used with previously determined parameters for KCl(aq) and those determined here for MgCl2(aq) to evaluate mixing parameters for the Clegg-Pitzer-Brimblecombe model. These combined data were also used to determine the mixing parameters of the Scatchard model. Both sets of model parameters are valid for ionic strengths of I≤12.8 mol?kg?1, where higher-order electrostatic effects have been included in the Clegg-Pitzer-Brimblecombe mixture model. The activity coefficients for KCl and MgCl2 were calculated from these models and the results for KCl were compared to experimental data from Emf measurements. The Scatchard model interaction parameters were used for calculation of the excess Gibbs energy as a function of the ionic strength and ionic strength fraction of KCl. The Zdanovskii-Robinson-Stokes rule of linearity for mixing of isopiestic solutions was tested.  相似文献

The water activity and osmotic coefficients of the system {y NH4NO3+(1-y) KNO3}(aq) has been measured at total molalities from 0.2 mol kg−1 to about saturation of one of the solutes for different ionic-strength fractions y of NH4NO3 with y=0.2, 0.5 and 0.8 at the temperature 298.15 K using the hygrometric method. The obtained data allow the deduction of the thermodynamic parameters. From these measurements, new Pitzer ionic mixing parameters are determined and used to predict the solute activity coefficients in the mixture. The results obtained are used to calculate the excess Gibbs energy at total molalities for different ionic-strength fractions of NH4NO3.  相似文献

Relative humidities have been measured for mixed aqueous electrolyte system of ammonium and potassium chlorides by the hygrometric method at total molalities from 0.3 to 6 mol-kg–1for ionic-strength fractions yof NH4Cl of 1/3, 1/2, and 2/3 at 25°C. The data allow the calculation of new water activities and osmotic coefficients. The proposed ECA (extended composed additivity) rule of calculation of water activity in mixed aqueous electrolyte solutions from the water activities of a single component is extended to this system. The experimental results and the predictions of the ECA rule are compared with the Robinson–Stokes, Reilly–Wood–Robinson, the Pitzer, and the Lietzke–Stoughton II models. Predictions made using these models are, in general, consistent with our results. From these measurements, the Pitzer mixing ionic parameters are determined and used to predict the solute activity coefficients in the mixture for different ionic-strength fractions.  相似文献

This work reports the results of a thermodynamic investigation of the ternary mixed-electrolyte system (CsCl + CaCl2 + H2O). The activity coefficients of this mixed aqueous electrolyte system have been studied with the electromotive force measurement (EMF) of the cell: Cs ion-selective electrode (ISE)|CsCl(mA), CaCl2(mB), H2O|Ag/AgCl at T = 298.15 K and over total ionic strengths from (0.01 to 1.50) mol · kg?1 for different ionic strength fractions yB of CaCl2 with yB = (0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8). The cesium ion-selective electrode (Cs-ISE) and the Ag/AgCl electrode used in this work were made in our laboratory and had a good Nernst response. The experimental results obey the Harned rule, and the Pitzer model can be used to describe this ternary system satisfactorily. The osmotic coefficients, excess Gibbs free energies and activities of water of the mixtures were also calculated.  相似文献

Isopiestic vapor-pressure measurements were made for {yMgCl2+(1−y)MgSO4}(aq) solutions with MgCl2 ionic strength fractions of y=(0,0.1997,0.3989,0.5992,0.8008, and 1) at the temperature 298.15 K, using KCl(aq) as the reference standard. These measurements for the mixtures cover the ionic strength range I=0.9794 to 9.4318 mol⋅kg−1. In addition, isopiestic measurements were made with NaCl(aq) as reference standard for mixtures of {xNa2SO4+(1−x)MgSO4}(aq) with the molality fraction x=0.5000 that correspond to solutions of the evaporite mineral bloedite (astrakanite), Na2Mg(SO4)2⋅4H2O(cr). The total molalities, m T=m(Na2SO4)+m(MgSO4), range from m T=1.4479 to 4.4312 mol⋅kg−1 (I=5.0677 to 15.509 mol⋅kg−1), where the uppermost concentration is the highest oversaturation molality that could be achieved by isothermal evaporation of the solvent at 298.15 K. The parameters of an extended ion-interaction (Pitzer) model for MgCl2(aq) at 298.15 K, which were required for an analysis of the {yMgCl2+(1−y)MgSO4}(aq) mixture results, were evaluated up to I=12.075 mol⋅kg−1 from published isopiestic data together with the six new osmotic coefficients obtained in this study. Osmotic coefficients of {yMgCl2+(1−y)MgSO4}(aq) solutions from the present study, along with critically-assessed values from previous studies, were used to evaluate the mixing parameters of the extended ion-interaction model.  相似文献

Thermodynamic properties of quaternary aqueous solutions of mixed chlorides of 1-1*1-1*2-1 charge type with the cations (Na+, NH4 +; Mg2+, Ca2+, Ba2+) were determined using the hygrometric method. The quaternary systems NH4Cl + NaCl + MgCl2 + H2O, NH4Cl + NaCl + CaCl2+ H2O, and NH4Cl + NaCl + BaCl2 + H2O have been studied at 25 °C. The water activities were measured at total molalities from 0.44 mol⋅kg−1 to saturation for different ionic-strength fractions y of NH4Cl, y=(0.20,0.50,0.80), and different ionic strength ratios z for other solutes, z=(0.20,0.50 and 0.80) for each value of y. The obtained data allows the calculation of osmotic coefficients.  相似文献

The osmotic coefficients of aqueous calcium chloride solutions were experimentally determined atT =  313.15 K by the isopiestic method. Magnesium chloride served as the isopiestic standard for the calculation of osmotic coefficients. The molality range covered in this study correspond to about 0.1mol · kg  1to 3.0mol · kg  1. In addition, the osmotic coefficients of aqueous mixtures of calcium chloride and magnesium chloride were determined over the range of ionic strength levels of about 0.1mol · kg  1to 9mol · kg  1and at various mole fractions. The results obtained were correlated by the Pitzer equation.  相似文献

The water activities of the systems NH4Cl + MgCl2 + CaCl2 + H2O and NaCl + MgCl2 + CaCl2 + H2O are measured at total molalities from 0.60 mol kg−1 to saturation for different ionic-strength fractions NH4Cl or NaCl, y = 0.20, 0.50, 0.80, and z ratio ionic-strength for other solutes, with z = 0.20, 0.50 and 0.80 for each y. The obtained data allow the deduction of osmotic coefficients.  相似文献

Isopiestic osmotic coefficients are presented for aqueous mixtures of tetra-n-methylammonium chloride, (CH3)4NCl, with guanidinium salts such as GnCl, CH3COOGn, GnNO3, GnClO4 and Gn2SO4 at 298.15 K up to an ionic strength of 2 mol?kg?1. The osmotic coefficients are analyzed in terms of the Scatchard-Rush-Johnson equations. The activity coefficients of each electrolyte in the mixtures were calculated and fitted by the Harned-type equations. The molar excess Gibbs energy of mixing, Δm G E, of the mixtures were analyzed with Friedman’s equations.  相似文献

Five of the six possible aqueous two-salt mixtures from among NaCl, KCl, NaH2PO4,and KH2PO4 have been studied by the isopiestic method at 25°C. The sixth mixture, NaCl–KCl, has been studied previously. The deviations from ideal mixing behavior are described by a series of coefficients which were found by regression analysis. The coefficients were used to calculate the excess Gibbs energies of mixing for equal ionic strength fractions of each salt and the trace activity coefficient of each salt at an ionic strength of 2 mode-kg–1. The cross-square mixing rule is obeyed within experimental uncertainty for the excess Gibbs energies of mixing.  相似文献

The thermodynamic properties, including activity coefficients, osmotic coefficients and excess Gibbs free energy for RbCl and Rb2SO4 aqueous mixtures at T=298.15 K and in 0.01 mol · kg−1 to 5 mol · kg−1 ionic strength, were determined by emf measurements. The Rb–ISE and Ag–AgCl electrodes used in this work were prepared in our laboratory and had a reasonably good Nernst response. The experimental data were fitted by using the Harned rule and Pitzer model. The Harned coefficients and the Pitzer binary and ternary interaction parameters for the system have been evaluated. The experimental results obey the Harned rule. The Pitzer model can be used to describe this aqueous system satisfactorily.  相似文献

Vapor–liquid equilibria (VLE) of binary mixtures containing the high boiling solutes: nonan-1-al, 4-methyl-benzaldehyde, nonan-2-one, and 4-phenylbutan-2-one and the ionic liquid (IL) [EMIM][NTf2] were studied by using the transpiration method. VLE measurements were carried out over the whole concentration range at different temperatures between 298 and 323 K. Activity coefficients γi of these solvents in the ionic liquid have been determined from these data using the NRTL-equation. In addition vapor pressures of the pure solutes 4-methyl-benzaldehyde, nonan-2-one and 4-phenylbutan-2-one have been measured as function of temperature and their enthalpies of vaporization have been obtained.  相似文献

Abstract

The molar single activity coefficients associated with propionate ion (Pr) have been determined at 25°C and ionic strengths comprised between 0.300 and 3.00 M, adjusted with NaClO4, as background electrolyte. The investigation was carried out potentiometrically by using a second class Hg/Hg2Pr2 electrode. It was found that the dependence of propionate activity coefficients as a function of ionic strength (I) can be assessed through the following empirical equation: log ypr = –0.185 J3/2 + 0.104 I2. Next, simple equations relating stoichiometric protonation constants of several monocarboxylates and formation constants associated with 1:1 complexes involving some bivalent cations and selected monocarboxylates, in aqueous solution, at 25°C, as a function of ionic strength were derived, allowing the interconversion of parameters from one ionic strength to another, up to I = 3.00 M. In addition, thermodynamic formation constants as well as parameters associated with activity coefficients of the complex species in the equilibria are estimated. The body of results shows that the proposed calculation procedure is very consistent with critically selected experimental data.  相似文献

Ternary aqueous solutions of MgSO4 and K2SO4 have been studied by the hygrometric method at 25°C. The relative humidity of this system is measured at total molalities from 0.35 mol-kg–1 to about saturation for three ionic-strength fractions (y = 0.25, 0.50, and 0.80 of MgSO4. The data allow calculation of water activities and osmotic coefficients. From these measurements, the Pitzer ionic mixing parameters are determined and used to predict the solute activity coefficients in the mixture. The results are used to calculate the excess Gibbs energy at total molalities for ionic-strength fraction y.  相似文献

Activity coefficients at infinite dilution have been measured by gas–liquid chromatography for 27 organic solutes (n-alkanes, 1-alkenes, 1-alkynes, cycloalkanes, aromatics, alcohols, and ketones) in the ionic liquid trihexyl(tetradecyl)phosphonium tetrafluoroborate [3C6C14P][BF4]. The measurements were carried out at four different temperatures viz. T = (313.15, 333.15, 353.15, and 373.15) K. From the experimental data, partial molar excess enthalpy values at infinite dilution were calculated for the experimental temperature range. The selectivity values for the separation of n-hexane/benzene, cyclohexane/benzene, and methanol/benzene mixtures were determined from the experimental infinite dilution activity coefficient values. These values were compared to those available in the literature for other ionic liquids and commercial solvents, so as to assess the feasibility of employing [3C6C14P][BF4] in solvent-enhanced industrial separations.  相似文献
