The analysis of the measurement of gravitational fields leads to the Rosenfeld inequalities. They say that, as an implication of the equivalence of the inertial and passive gravitational masses of the test body, the metric cannot be attributed to an operator that is defined in the frame of a local canonical quantum field theory. This is true for any theory containing a metric, independently of the geometric framework under consideration and the way one introduces the metric in it. Thus, to establish a local quantum field theory of gravity one has to transit to non-Riemann geometry that contains (beside or instead of the metric) other geometric quantities. From this view, we discuss a Riemann–Cartan and an affine model of gravity and show them to be promising candidates of a theory of canonical quantum gravity.  相似文献

The purely affine theory of gravity possesses a canonical formulation. For this and other reasons, it could be a promising candidate for quantum gravity. Motivated by these perspectives, we discuss spinorial matter coupled to gravity, where the latter is described by a connection having no a priori relation to a metric. We show that one can establish a truncated spinor formalism which, for special or approximate solutions to the gravitational equations, reduces to the standard formalism. As a consequence, one arrives at "matter-induced" Riemann–Cartan spaces solving the Weyl-Cartan space problem.  相似文献

A spatially closed universe undergoing at present accelerated expansion, having a non-vanishing cosmological constant, and filled with luminous- and dark matter is described in terms of the Integrable Weyl–Dirac theory. It is shown that, during the dust-dominated period, dark matter and the quintessence pressure, the latter giving rise to acceleration: both are created by the Dirac gauge function. The behavior of two models: a nearly flat one and a well closed are considered in appropriate gauges, and plausible scenarios are obtained. The outcome of the present paper, together with results of a previous work,(31) provide a geometrically based, classical, singularity-free model of the universe, that has originated from a pure geometric Weyl–Dirac entity, passed a prematter period, the radiation-dominated era, and continues its development in the present dust period.  相似文献

The affine theory was conceived as a geometric model, wherein the connection field is the primary structure of the space-time. According to the program lying on the basis of this theory, metric and some sort of matter are somehow to be deduced from the connection field. In the present paper, we point out classical ways to a realization of this program. It is shown that, even in that case where the introduction of the metric seems to exclude the coupling of gravity to matter, the situation is not so hopeless as one may assume. In particular, for a symmetric Einstein tensor, it is answered the old question as to a self-consistent introduction of a metric and a metrical energy-momentum tensor controversially debated by Einstein, Eddington, and Weyl.  相似文献

We argue that the structure general relativity (GR) as a theory of affine defects is deeper than the standard interpretation as a metric theory of gravitation. Einstein–Cartan theory (EC), with its inhomogeneous affine symmetry, should be the standard-bearer for GR-like theories. A discrete affine interpretation of EC (and gauge theory) yields topological definitions of momentum and spin (and Yang–Mills current), and their conservation laws become discrete topological identities. Considerations from quantum theory provide evidence that discrete affine defects are the physical foundation for gravitation.  相似文献

We show that there is a threshold in energy for the onset of chaos in cosmology for the Universe described as a dynamical system derived from the Einstein equations of General Relativity (GR). In the case of the mixmaster model (homogeneous and anisotropic cosmology with a Bianchi IX metric), the chaos occurs precisely at the prescribed necessary value H vac=0 of the GR for the energy of the Universe while the system is found to be regular for H<0 and chaotic for H>0 with respect to its pure vacuum part. In the case of generalized scalar tensor theories within the Bianchi IX model, we show using the ADM formalism and a conformal transformation that the energy of the dynamical system as compared to vacuum lies below the zero energy threshold. The system is thus not exhibiting chaos and the conclusion still holds in the presence of ordinary matter as well. The suppression of chaos occurs in a similar way for stiff matter alone.  相似文献

In the framework of an integrable Weyl–Dirac (W–D) theory a cosmological model is proposed. It describes a universe that began its expansion from a primary pre-Planckian geometric entity containing no matter. During the pre-Planckian period, from R 0 =5.58×10 –36 cm to RI=5.58×10 –34 cm, this embryonic universe has undergone a very rapid expansion and cosmic matter was created by geometry. At RI the universe was already filled with matter having the Planckian density P and being in the state of prematter (P=–), while the Weylian geometric elements were insignificant. This state is the Planckian egg that has served as the initial state of the singularity-free cosmological model (1) considered in the framework of Einstein's general theory of relativity. The W–D character of the geometry and the cosmological constant are significant in the pre-Planckian period during the matter creation. In the dust-dominated period a relic of the W–D geometry causes a global dark matter effect. In between the pre-Planckian and dust period one has Einstein's framework and is negligible.  相似文献

Based on the new metric theory of gravitation suggested by the author of this article, it gives a possible theoretical interpretation on the famous experiment done by D.R. Long in 1976, i.e. the distance-dependent effect of the gravitational constant in Newton's theory of gravitation.  相似文献

No Heading In this paper we treat the so called clock paradox in an analytical way by assuming that a constant and uniform force F of finite magnitude acts continuously on the moving clock along the direction of its motion assumed to be rectilinear (in space). No inertial motion steps are considered. The rest clock is denoted as (1), the to and fro moving clock is (2), the inertial frame in which (1) is at rest in its origin and (2) is seen moving is I and, finally, the accelerated frame in which (2) is at rest in its origin and (1) moves forward and backward is A. We deal with the following questions: (1) What is the effect of the finite force acting on (2) on the proper time interval (2) measured by the two clocks when they reunite? Does a differential aging between the two clocks occur, as it happens when inertial motion and infinite values of the accelerating force is considered? The special theory of relativity is used in order to describe the hyperbolic (in spacetime) motion of (2) in the frame I. (II) Is this effect an absolute one, i.e., does the accelerated observer A comoving with (2) obtain the same results as that obtained by the observer in I, both qualitatively and quantitatively, as it is expected? We use the general theory of relativity in order to answer this question. It turns out that I = A for both the clocks, (2) does depend on g = F/m, and = (2)/(1) = (1 – 2atanhj)/ < 1. In it ; = V/c and V is the velocity acquired by (2) when the force is inverted.  相似文献

On the basis of his ‘Zürich Notebook’ I shall describe a particularly fruitful phase in Einstein's struggle on the way to general relativity. These research notes are an extremely illuminating source for understanding Einstein's main physical arguments and conceptual difficulties that delayed his discovery of general relativity by about three years. Together with the ‘Entwurf’ theory in collaboration with Marcel Grossmann, these notes also show that the final theory was missed late in 1912 within a hair's breadth. The Einstein‐Grossmann theory, published almost exactly hundred years ago, contains, however, virtually all essential elements of Einstein's definite gravitation theory.  相似文献

The unification of the gravitational and electromagnetic fields achieved geometrically in the generally covariant unified field theory of Evans implies that electromagnetism is the spinning of spacetime and gravitation is the curving of spacetime. The homogeneous unified field equation of Evans is a balance of spacetime spin and curvature and governs the influence of electromagnetism on gravitation using the first Bianchi identity of differential geometry. The second Bianchi identity of differential geometry is shown to lead to the conservation law of the Evans unified field, and also to a generalization of the Einstein field equation for the unified field. Rigorous mathematical proofs are given in appendices of the four equations of differential geometry which are the cornerstones of the Evans unified field theory: the first and second Maurer-Cartan structure relations and the first and second Bianchi identities. As an example of the theory, the origin of wavenumber and frequency is traced to elements of the torsion tensor of spinning spacetime.  相似文献

A simple example of classical physics may be defined as classical variables, p and q, and quantum physics may be defined as quantum operators, P and Q. The classical world of p&q, as it is currently understood, is truly disconnected from the quantum world, as it is currently understood. The process of quantization, for which there are several procedures, aims to promote a classical issue into a related quantum issue. In order to retain their physical connection, it becomes critical as to how to promote specific classical variables to associated specific quantum variables. This paper, which also serves as a review paper, leads the reader toward specific, but natural, procedures that promise to ensure that the classical and quantum choices are guaranteed a proper physical connection. Moreover, parallel procedures for fields, and even gravity, that connect classical and quantum physical regimes, will be introduced.  相似文献

General relativity is reduced to O(3) electrodynamics by consideration of the irreducible representations of the Einstein group and through a particular choice of basis. The photon is shown always to possess a scalar curvature R, and so the origin of quantization is found in general relativity.  相似文献

A theory of (4+1)-dimensional gravity is developed on the basis of the teleparallel theory equivalent to general relativity. The fundamental gravitational field variables are the five-dimensional vector fields (pentad), defined globally on a manifold M, and gravity is attributed to the torsion. The Lagrangian density is quadratic in the torsion tensor. We then give the exact five-dimensional solution. The solution is a generalization of the familiar Schwarzschild and Kerr solutions of the four-dimensional teleparallel equivalent of general relativity. We also use the definition of the gravitational energy to calculate the energy and the spatial momentum.  相似文献

Let us consider a Lie (super)algebra G spanned by T where T are quantum observables in BV formalism. It is proved that for every tensor c... that determines a homology class of the Lie algebra G the expression c...T...T is again a quantum observable. This theorem is used to construct quantum observables in the BV sigma model. We apply this construction to explain Kontsevich's results about the relation between homology of the Lie algebra of Hamiltonian vector fields and topological invariants of manifolds.  相似文献

The unified theory of coherence and polarization is applied to an investigation of the changes in the polarization, the coherence and the spectrum of partially coherent electromagnetic Hermite–Gaussian (EHG) beams propagating through atmospheric turbulence. Based on the extended Huygens–Fresnel principle, the 2×2 electric cross-spectral density matrix of partially coherent EHG beams in turbulence is expressed analytically by using a quadratic approximation of Rytov's phase structure function. The analytical expressions for the degree of polarization, the degree of coherence and the spectrum of partially coherent EHG beams in turbulence are derived, and the corresponding analytical results of electromagnetic Gaussian Schell-model (EGSM) beams can be obtained when the order number of the Hermite polynomial is zero. Some interesting results are obtained, which are illustrated by using numerical examples.  相似文献

We consider the Schrödinger operator H=(i+A)2 in the space L 2(R 3) with a magnetic potential A created by an infinite rectilinear current. We show that the operator H is absolutely continuous, its spectrum has infinite multiplicity and coincides with the positive half-axis. Then we find the large-time behavior of solutions exp(–i H t)f of the time dependent Schrödinger equation. Our main observation is that a quantum particle has always a preferable (depending on its charge) direction of propagation along the current. Similar result is true in classical mechanics.  相似文献

We apply the energy momentum and angular momentum tensor to a tetrad field, with two unknown functions of radial coordinate, in the framework of a teleparallel equivalent of general relativity (TEGR). The definition of the gravitational energy is used to investigate the energy within the external event horizon of the dyadosphere region for the Reissner-Nordström black hole. We also calculate the spatial momentum and angular momentum.  相似文献
