The a-C:H and a-C:NX:H films were deposited onto silicon wafers using radio frequency (rf) plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) and pulsed-dc glow discharge plasma CVD, respectively. Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to characterize chemical nature and bond types of the films. The results demonstrated that the a-C:H film prepared by rf-CVD (rf C:H) has lower ID/IG ratio, indicating smaller sp2 cluster size in an amorphous carbon matrix. The nitrogen concentrations of 2.9 at.% and 7.9 at.% correspond to carbon nitride films prepared with rf and pulse power, respectively.Electrochemical corrosion performances of the carbon films were investigated by potentiodynamic polarization test. The electrolyte used in this work was a 0.89% NaCl solution. The corrosion test showed that the rf C:H film exhibited excellent anti-corrosion performance with a corrosion rate of 2 nA cm−2, while the carbon nitride films prepared by rf technique and pulse technique showed a corrosion rate of 6 nA cm−2 and 235 nA cm−2, respectively. It is reasonable to conclude that the smaller sp2 cluster size of rf C:H film restrained the electron transfer velocity and then avoids detriment from the exchange of electrons.  相似文献

Diamond-like carbon (DLC) is an attractive biomedical material due to its high inertness and excellent mechanical properties. In this study, DLC films were fabricated on Ti6Al4V and Si(1 0 0) substrates at room temperature by pulsed vacuum arc plasma deposition. By changing the argon flow from 0 to 13 sccm during deposition, the effects of argon flow on the characteristics of the DLC films were systematically examined to correlate to the blood compatibility. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the films were investigated using Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) surface analysis, a nano-indenter and pin-on-disk tribometer. The blood compatibility of the films was evaluated using in vitro platelet adhesion investigation, and the quantity and morphology of the adherent platelets was investigated employing optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The Raman spectroscopy results showed a decreasing sp3 fraction (an increasing trend in ID/IG ratio) with increasing argon flow from 0 to 13 sccm. The sp3:sp2 ratio of the films was evaluated from the deconvoluted XPS spectra. We found that the sp3 fraction decreased as the argon flow was increased from 0 to 13 sccm, which is consistent with the results of the Raman spectra. The mechanical properties results confirmed the decreasing sp3 content with increasing argon flow. The Raman D-band to G-band intensity ratio increased and the platelet adhesion behavior became better with higher flow. This implies that the blood compatibility of the DLC films is influenced by the sp3:sp2 ratio. DLC films deposited on titanium alloys have high wear resistance, low friction and good adhesion.  相似文献

Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films deposited on different substrates by plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition were investigated. Bonding states and film quality were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy. The influence of the power of plasma and the deposition time on the sp2/sp3 ratio as well as the concentration of CHn bonds was studied. The influence of sp2/sp3 ratio on the formation process of conducting channels in diamond-like carbon films as a result of electrical breakdown was determined. Reproducible increase of diamond-like carbon film conductivity, with initial sp2/sp3 ratio larger than 0.16, was observed after electrical breakdown.  相似文献

Ti incorporated amorphous carbon (a-C) films with variant Ti contents were prepared by the unbalanced magnetron sputtering process. Scanning electron microscopy, ultraviolet Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy were used to characterize the microstructure of a-C films. The hardness and lubricated tribological properties were assessed using nanoindentation and ball-on-disk tribometer. As the Ti content in a-C films increases from 0 to 15.2 at.%, the sp3 volume fraction, the internal stress and the hardness of the films decreases gradually, while the disorder of sp2 bond increases. The electrochemical tests reveal that the a-C films with lower than 1.5 at.% Ti possess good corrosion resistance in Hanks’ solution, while the a-C film with 15.2 at.% Ti is susceptible to crevice corrosion. The reduced friction of the a-C films is due to the sp2 bonded film surface and boundary lubrication of the Hanks’ solution. The a-C film with 3.1 at.% Ti exhibits the best wear resistance in Hanks’ solution among the studied films.  相似文献

The a-CNx films were deposited onto high-speed steel substrate by pulsed laser deposition at different nitrogen pressures. The tribological properties of the films in humid air and in vacuum were investigated using a ball-on-disk tribometer under various loads. The composition, microstructure and morphology of the films, wear tracks and paired balls were characterized by energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA), X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS), Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). With increasing the deposition pressure, the fraction of sp3 C bond reduces, the fraction of trapped nitrogen increases and the friction coefficient of the films declines both in humid air and vacuum. The friction coefficient of a-CNx film decreases with increasing normal load. The tribological performances of the films in humid air are better than those of in vacuum. A transferred graphite-like tribo-layer is observed from a-CNx film to the paired ball for both environments.  相似文献

Carbon nitride thin films were obtained through plasma assisted physical vapor deposition technique by pulsed arc, varying the substrate temperature and investigating the influence of this parameter on the films hemocompatibility. For obtaining approaches of blood compatibility, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) was used in order to study the platelets adherence and their morphology. Moreover, the elemental chemical composition was determined by using energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), finding C, N and O. The coatings hemocompatibility was evaluated by in vitro thrombogenicity test, whose results were correlated with the microstructure and roughness of the films obtained.During the films growth process, the substrate temperature was varied, obtaining coatings under different temperatures, room temperature (Troom), 100 °C, 150 °C and 200 °C. Parameters as interelectrodic distance, voltage, work pressure and number of discharges, were remained constant. By EDS, carbon and nitrogen were found in the films.Visible Raman spectroscopy was used, and it revealed an amorphous lattice, with graphitic process as the substrate temperature was increased. However, at a critical temperature of 150 °C, this tendency was broken, and the film became more amorphous. This film showed the lowest roughness, 2 ± 1 nm. This last characteristic favored the films hemocompatibility. Also, it was demonstrated that the blood compatibility of carbon nitride films obtained were affected by the ID/IG or sp3/sp2 ratio and not by the absolute sp3 or sp2 concentration.  相似文献

Amorphous carbon–sulfur (a-C:S) composite films were prepared by vapor phase pyrolysis technique. The structural changes in the a-C:S films were investigated by electron microscopy. A powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) study depicts the two-phase nature of a sulfur-incorporated a-C system. The optical bandgap energy shows a decreasing trend with an increase in the sulfur content and preparation temperature. This infers a sulfur incorporation and pyrolysis temperature induced reduction in structural disorder or increase in sp 2 or π-sites. The presence of sulfur (S 2p) in the a-C:S sample is analyzed by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The sp 3/sp 2 hybridization ratio is determined by using the XPS C 1s peak fitting, and the results confirm an increase in sp 2 hybrids with sulfur addition to a-C. The electrical resistivity variation in the films depends on both the sulfur concentration and the pyrolysis temperature.  相似文献

Carbon nitride thin films deposited by dc unbalanced magnetron sputtering have been analyzed by high-resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman spectroscopy. The XPS data show that N 1s binding states depend on substrate temperature (Ts). By comparison with the Raman spectra, N 1s binding states are assigned in which nitrogen atoms are mainly bound to sp2 and sp3 carbon atoms at Ts = 100°C, whereas at Ts = 500°C nitrogen atoms are mainly bonded to sp2, sp3 and sp1 carbon atoms.  相似文献

Carbon films with high conductivity anisotropy were obtained via sputtering a graphite target with an accelerated argon ion beam. The film structure was studied using Raman spectroscopy (combination scattering spectroscopy), transmission high-resolution electron microscopy, chemical analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and tunnel spectroscopy. We found conductivity anisotropy along and across the film chains of the order of 104, which is associated with a high content of linear carbon chains with sp hybridization of bonding orbitals.  相似文献

Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films were deposited on Si(1 0 0) substrates using plasma deposition technique. The deposited films were irradiated using 2 MeV N+ ions at fluences of 1×1014, 1×1015 and 5×1015 ions/cm2. Samples have been characterized by using Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). Analysis of Raman spectra shows a gradual shift of both D and G band peaks towards higher frequencies along with an increase of the intensity ratio, I(D)/I(G), with increasing ion fluence in irradiation. These results are consistent with an increase of sp2 bonding. XPS results also show a monotonic increase of sp2/sp3 hybridization ratio with increasing ion fluence. Plan view TEM images show the formation of clusters in the irradiated DLC films. HRTEM micrographs from the samples irradiated at a fluence of 5×1015 ions/cm2 show the lattice image with an average interplanar spacing of 0.34 nm, revealing that the clusters are graphite clusters. The crystallographic planes in these clusters are somewhat distorted compared to the perfect graphite structure.  相似文献

The effect of substrate bias on X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) study of nitrogen incorporated amorphous carbon (a-C:N) films embedded with nanoparticles deposited by filtered cathodic jet carbon arc technique is discussed. High resolution transmission electron microscope exhibited initially the amorphous structure but on closer examination the film was constituted of amorphous phase with the nanoparticle embedded in the amorphous matrix. X-ray diffraction study reveals dominantly an amorphous nature of the film. A straight forward method of deconvolution of XPS spectra has been used to evaluate the sp3 and sp2 contents present in these a-C:N films. The carbon (C 1s) peaks have been deconvoluted into four different peaks and nitrogen (N 1s) peaks have been deconvoluted into three different peaks which attribute to different bonding state between C, N and O. The full width at half maxima (FWHM) of C 1s peak, sp3 content and sp3/sp2 ratio of a-C:N films increase up to −150 V substrate bias and beyond −150 V substrate bias these parameters are found to decrease. Thus, the parameters evaluated are found to be dependent on the substrate bias which peaks at −150 V substrate bias.  相似文献

TiN, TiC and Ti(C, N) films have been respectively prepared using closed-field unbalanced magnetron sputtering ion plating technology, with graphite target serving as the C supplier in an Ar-N2 mixture gas. Bonding states and microstructure of the films are characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) in combination with transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The friction coefficients are measured by pin-on-disc test and the wear traces of deposited films are observed by optical microscope. Results show that the TiN film and Ti(C, N) film exhibit dense columnar structure while the TiC film exhibits a mixed microstructure of main nanocrystallite and little amorphous phases. The Ti(C, N) film has the highest microhardness value and the TiC film has the lowest. Because of small amount of pure carbon with sp2 bonds existing in the film, the friction coefficients of Ti(C, N) and TiC multilayer films are lower than that of TiN film. In addition, the multilayer structure of films also contributes visually to decrease of friction coefficients. The TiC film has extremely low friction coefficient while the wear ratio is the highest in all of the films. The results also show that the Ti(C, N) film has excellent anti-abrasion property.  相似文献

Ultrananocrystalline diamond/hydrogenated amorphous carbon composite films were deposited in the ambient of hydrogen by coaxial arc plasma deposition. The film compositions and chemical bonding structures were investigated by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoemission and hydrogen forward scattering spectroscopies. The sp3/(sp2+sp3) ratio and hydrogen content in the film were estimated to be 64% and 35?at.%, respectively. The optical parameters and the optical dispersion profile were determined by using a variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometer at 55°, 65° and 75° angle of incidence in the photon energy range of 0.9–5?eV. Combinations of multiple Gaussian, and Tauc-Lorentz or Cody-Lorentz dispersion functions are used to reproduce the experimental data. Results of ellipsometry showed a refractive index of approximately 2.05 (at 2eV) and optical band gap of 1.63?eV. The imaginary part of dielectric function exhibited a peak at 3.8?eV, which has assigned to π-π* electron transitions. Furthermore, Electron spin resonance measurements implied the existence of dangling bonds, which might have a partial contribution to the optical absorption properties of the deposited films. A correlation between optical parameters and structural profile of the deposited films is discussed.  相似文献

Carbon nitride (CNx) films were deposited from acetonitrile at low voltage (150-450 V) through electrodeposition. The films were characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM), Raman spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. AFM investigations revealed that the grain size was ∼200 nm and roughness was ∼10 nm. The films were found to be continuous and close packed. IR spectra revealed existence of strong sp3, sp2 type bonding and weak sp type carbon nitrogen bonds and these bonds were found to increase with voltage. The fraction of sp3-bonded species in the sample increased in low voltage range and after reaching maximum at 350 V, decreased for higher voltages. However, the concentration of sp2 CN ring structures in the film increased with increasing voltage. Also, the peak width decreased at low voltages reaching a minimum and increased thereafter. It was observed that the voltage dependent increase in the concentration of polymeric type sp2 CN (chain) structures was much more pronounced than that of graphitic type sp2 CN (ring) structures. Raman spectra showed the presence of both the D and G bands. The shift in the G band indicated the presence of nitrogen in the film. The ID/IG ratio was found to increase with the incorporation of nitrogen. Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) showed a clear increase in the nitrogen content with increase in the voltage. The formation of the film could be explained on the basis of dissociation of electrolyte under applied voltage.  相似文献

Carbon-based materials have been of great interest due to their potential application in cold cathodes for field emission displays and other vacuum microelectronic devices. Pyrolyzed polyaniline (PPANI) with N-doped nanostructures was prepared by pyrolysis of polyaniline at high temperature of 900 °C. The morphologies and microstructures were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, AFM, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It was found that there were sp2C-N and sp3C-N bonds between the nitrogen and the carbon atoms in the nanostructures of the PPANI obtained. The electron field emission investigations showed that the turn-on field and effective work function ?e of PPANI were 1.7 V/μm and 0.010 eV which were lower than N-doped amorphous carbon films obtained by other methods.  相似文献

As-deposited antimony sulfide thin films prepared by chemical bath deposition were treated with nitrogen AC plasma and thermal annealing in nitrogen atmosphere. The as-deposited, plasma treated, and thermally annealed antimony sulfide thin films have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, and electrical measurements. The results have shown that post-deposition treatments modify the crystalline structure, the morphology, and the optoelectronic properties of Sb2S3 thin films. X-ray diffraction studies showed that the crystallinity of the films was improved in both cases. Atomic force microscopy studies showed that the change in the film morphology depends on the post-deposition treatment used. Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) analysis revealed the plasma etching on the surface of the film, this fact was corroborated by the energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis. The optical band gap of the films (Eg) decreased after post-deposition treatments (from 2.36 to 1.75 eV) due to the improvement in the grain sizes. The electrical resistivity of the Sb2S3 thin films decreased from 108 to 106 Ω-cm after plasma treatments.  相似文献

There are higher technical requirements for protecting layer of magnetic heads and disks used in future high-density storage fields. In this paper, ultra-thin (2 nm thickness) tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C) films were firstly prepared by filtered cathodic vacuum arc (FCVA) method, then a series of nitriding treatments were performed with nitrogen plasma generated using electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) microwave source. Here it highlighted the influence of nitrogen flow and applied substrate bias voltage on the structural characteristics of ta-C films during the plasma nitriding process. The chemical compositions, element depth distribution profiles, physical structures and bonding configurations of plasma-nitrided ta-C films were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and UV-vis Raman spectroscopy. The experimental results show that the carbon nitride compounds (CNx) are formed in nitrogenated ta-C films in which the N content and its depth distribution depends on bias voltage to large extent rather than N2 flow. The N content of nitrogenated ta-C films can reach 16 at.% for a substrate bias of −300 V and a N2 flow of 90 sccm. With increasing nitrogen content, there is less G peak dispersion and more ordering of structure. Furthermore, appropriate nitriding treatment (substrate bias: −100 V, N2 flow: 150 sccm) can greatly increase the fraction of sp3 and sp3C-N bonds, but the values begin to fall when the N content is above 9.8 at.%. All these indicate that suitable ECR-assisted microwave plasma nitriding is a potential modification method to obtain ultra-thin ta-C films with higher sp3 and sp3C-N fractions for high-density magnetic storage applications.  相似文献

Structure of smooth hydrocarbon CD x films with a high deuterium ratio x ~ 0.5 redeposited from T-10 tokamak D-plasma discharges (NRC Kurchatov Institute, Moscow) has been studied. For the first time, small and wide angle X-ray scattering technique using synchrotron radiation and neutron diffraction have been employed. A fractal structure of CD x films is found to consist of mass-fractals with rough border, surface fractals (with rough surface), plane scatterers and linear chains forming a branched and highly cross-linked 3D carbon network. The found fractals, including sp2 clusters, are of typical size ~1.60 nm. They include a C13 fragment consisting of three interconnected aromatic rings forming a minimal fractal sp2 aggregate 9 × C13. These graphene-like sp2 clusters are interconnected and form a 3D lattice which can be alternatively interpreted as a highly defective graphene layer with a large concentration of vacancies. The unsaturated chemical bonds are filled with D, H atoms, linear sp2 C=C, C=O, and sp3 structural elements like C-C, C-H(D), C-D2,3, C-O, O-H, COOH, C x D(H) y found earlier from the infrared spectra of CD x films, which are binding linear elements of a carbon network. The amorphous structure of CD x films has been confirmed by the results of earlier fractal structure modeling, as well as by researches with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy which allow finding a definite similarity with the electron structure of their model analogues — polymeric a-C:H and a-C:D films with a disordered carbon network consisting of atoms in sp3 + sp2 states.  相似文献
