光弹性涂层法是最常用的实验应变分析测试技术之一,但其实际应用受到诸如准备时间长、基底加强效应、复杂的数据后期处理等固有局限性的影响。近年来,出现了两种通过在光弹性聚合物材料中添加非发光染料或发光染料的新的光弹性涂层制作方法。这种基于染料的光弹性涂层使新方法能够克服上述传统光弹性涂层法应用中的许多局限性,并有望成为重要的应变测量工具。论文回顾了这两种新的基于染料的光弹性涂层方法的提出与发展过程,分别介绍了两种测量方法的实验装置、基本原理及一些实际应用,总结了两种新方法各自的优点与不足。最后指出了基于添加发光染料的发光光弹性涂层的未来发展方向和技术改进。  相似文献

New experimental methods continue to be proposed for determining the in-plane elastic constants of orthotropic composite materials, as no single method has been found completely satisfactory. In particular, the in-plane shear modulus is difficult to measure. In this paper, an orthotropic half-plane subjected to a concentrated edge load is proposed as a calibration specimen. Photoelastic calibration of orthotropic-birefringent composites is also difficult due to the need to conserve the commercially unavailable, difficult-to-make model materials and the absence of many closed-form solutions. In this paper, the orthotropic half-plane specimen is proposed for photoelastic calibration of birefringent-orthotropic model materials also. For elastic and photoelastic calibration of orthotropic materials, the least-squares procedure is used for processing the experimental data.  相似文献

The axisymmetric floor of the reactor building of the nuclear-power station Bugey 2 was stress analyzed experimentally using a two-dimensional photoelastic model. The modulus of elasticity of the concrete and the maps of moduli of deformation of the soil were taken into consideration. Photoelastic stress freezing analyses in the orthopaedic literature have, in the past, been limited to studies where bone-on-bone, bone-on-metal or ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)-on-metal constructs are modeled. In these cases photoelastic plastics are used to simulate either bone or UHMWPE as it interacts with a metal implant. In joints such as the shoulder, a UHMWPE component is often cemented directly into the scapula's glenoid concavity using polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). While a photoelastic material can be used to simulate bone with proper load scaling, UHMWPE and PMMA have very different mechanical properties at elevated stress freezing temperatures as compared within vivo body temperature. In this study, materials were identified such that proper scaling of elastic properties at elevated temperatures was utilized to simulate the metal-UHMWPE-PMMA-bone construct. Stresses on orthogonal planes throughout the glenoid were compared for two different UHMWPE component anchoring geometries (keeled and pegged). High stresses were found at the neck of the glenoid and also at the component-bone interface beneath simulated PMMA inclusions.  相似文献

Many transparent materials when deformed and viewed in polarized light exhibit a birfringent effect. The present study is an attempt to consider, within a consistent framework, many of the non-linear aspects of the phenomenon of birefringence in polymers and how they may be used in the development of a method for the stress analysis of non-linear problems.

The kinematics in a rate form for the large deformations of a medium exhibiting permanent as well as recoverable deformations is first given. The constitutive problem for rate dependent materials is then treated. The proposed differential model can exhibit a very wide range of material behavior and is in a form that satisfies the requirements for the proper formulation of constitutive relations. A mechanical-optical constitutive relation is derived that can model rate dependent behavior without itself having any explicit dependence on the rates. The use of the birefringent effect for solving non-linear time dependent problems is discussed and the inapplicability of some of the existing photoelastic procedures pointed out. The theory and techniques of analysis are checked by first performing the quasistatic and dynamic characterization of a polyester blend to about 25% strain, and then solving some stress analysis problems.  相似文献

Experimental research relative to pressure effects on the mechanical behavior of materials is frequently handicapped by the difficulties associated with making load and deformation measurements in a hostile environment. The application of photoelasticity in high-pressure experiments provides a means for studying the effect of hydrostatic stress on varying stress fields. The purpose of this paper is to examine the feasibility of using the photoelastic method of stress analysis in a high-pressure environment. The unusual feature of this application is the finite elastic deformations suffered by the photoelastic model under high pressure. As a result, the mechanical and stress-optical properties of the model materials are functions of pressure. Another important feature in this study is the selection of a suitable model material. Since the model must come into contact with the liquid pressure media, chemical and absorption resistance are essential considerations. Although it was found that photoelastic investigations can be carried out at high pressure, limitations are imposed by the presence of the optical vessel and pressurized fluid.  相似文献

The fracture of a known ductile polymer (polycarbonate) is investigated. It is shown that polycarbonate obeys the Dugdale model of ductile yielding by comparing measured plastic-zone sizes and displacements to the theoretical predictions. Strain-energy release rates are calculated and the critical value is shown to be one or two orders of magnitude higher than critical values for brittle polymers. Photoelastic photographs of the fracture process are presented and it is shown that the photoelastic effect definitely enhances the definition of the yield zone. Microscopic photoelastic photographs are also presented which are used to give a new interpretation to the photoplastic effect. Finally, suggestions for future work are presented.  相似文献

A series of frozen stress photoelastic tests is carried out in the present investigation. Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics is used to analyze the problem of a part-through corner crack at an open hole in a plate of finite width loaded in tension. The photoelastic modeling capability of three-dimensional subcritical crack growth problems is assessed. This is achieved by comparing monotonically grown flaw shapes in epoxy models with crack profiles relative to fatigue crack propagation tests in a different material. Photoelastic stress-intensity factor distributions are checked against numerical results obtained for quarter elliptical geometries. The dependence of stress intensity factors on flaw shape is also discussed.  相似文献

A dual-observation method is developed for determining photoelastic parameters in scattered light. Using this method, the intensities of scattered light along two directions of observation, making an angle of 45 deg in a plane normal to the beam, are recorded simultaneously without rotation of either the beam or the model. Photoelastic parameters are evaluated from these records. The theory of the method, the apparatus and techniques, as well as an illustrative experiment, are reported.  相似文献

The use of losipescu specimens for the determination of the shear properties of a vinyl-ester resin was investigated. The antisymmetric four-point bend and the Adams and Walrath fixtures were studied for their suitability in loading these specimens. Photoelastic and strain-gage data in addition to published finite-element results show that the latter fixture distorts the stress field in the gage section. The antisymmetric four-point bend fixture is found to give the purest shear-stress field in the gage section and to yield the most reliable shear-modulus values. A refined photoelastic analysis shows that the shear-stress distribution between the notch roots is essentially uniform with a relative maximum or minimum at the centroid depending on the depths of the notches. Also, stress risers of up to 30 percent are observed near the notch roots. Except at the roots, finite-element predictions are presented which are in excellent agreement with photoelastic data. The failure mode of this vinyl-ester resin is tensile and the corresponding tensile stress calculated from the average shear stress in the gage section of the losipescu specimen is in excellent agreement with failure data acquired in tension.  相似文献

Stress analysis of the components of a shrinkfit assembly has been carried out by the three-dimensional photoelastic technique. Experimental results obtained from the analysis of a typical shrink-fit assembly, wherein a cylindrical wheel is shrink fitted onto a hollow cylindrical hub in an asymmetrical position. Photoelastic models made from hot-setting Araldite B were loaded at the critical temperature in a stress-freezing oven and the meridional and the hoop slices were observed in a transmission polariscope. It is concluded from this investigation that the bending induced in the components due to the asymmetrical placement of the wheel and the contact shear at the interface influences the stress distribution quite considerably. Also, the dimensions of the components in the axial direction have an influence on the mode and contribute to the magnitude of the variation of stress components.  相似文献

Consideration of the laws of elasticity and optics allows the classification of photoelastic materials into several categories. Two types of photoelastic materials are studied experimentally in compressible and incompressible forms to decide in which category they belong. Two epoxies and three polyurethane rubbers are reported. Both epoxies were calibrated for their response to frozen stress, and one under live load. The rubbers were all calibrated under live load at ambient temperature. The results support an earlier hypothesis that the photoelastic response of incompressible materials is strain sensitive and cannot be used directly in the general three-dimensional case to determine normal stress without additional data.  相似文献

Photoelastic data are combined with the finite-element method for stress solutions over regions partially bounded by free surfaces and axes of symmetry. Least-squares solutions are obtained without presumed values of applied forces at element nodes and without isoclinic data. 光弹性应力分析是一种重要的实验方法,确定等倾线参数和等差线参数是光弹法的关键。常用的六步相移法可以自动确定等倾线和等差线参数,但在求解等倾角时,由于不能避免等倾线相位图中耦合等差线的影响,会造成误差。针对这个问题,本文提出优化方案--多次载荷-六步相移法,实现在等倾线相位图求解中消除等差线的影响。通过处理对称受压圆盘在不同载荷、不同光场下得到的光弹图像,实现光弹性等倾线和等差线的自动判读,验证了所提方法的可行性。  相似文献

工程结构裂纹尖端应力强度因子(SIF)由于形状、荷载的复杂性及边界条件的不确定性,难以用解析法得到,数值计算也有困难,而光弹性法弥补了上述方法的不足。本文用环氧树脂制作圆轴模型,采用机加工的方法制作圆轴模型裂纹,然后将加载模型进行应力冻结,通过光弹性实验研究分析了圆轴裂纹尖端应力分布。由于带环形裂纹的圆轴在弯扭组合变形时,离中性轴最远的裂纹尖端处于复合裂纹状态,而三维光弹性应力冻结法是测定复杂三维问题复合裂纹的有效方法。本文用双参数法测定I型应力强度因子,用切片逐次削去法测定Ⅲ型应力强度因子,实验误差较小。  相似文献
