It is found that no current is driven in a central region of a tokamak plasma once the central current density becomes nearly zero ("current hole"), in spite of high electric conductivity, at the current drive by a toroidal electric field and a radio-frequency wave in experiments on the JT-60U tokamak. This is a new, stiff, self-organized structure of a magnetic field in an axisymmetric toroidal plasma.  相似文献

With consideration of the effects of the atomic process and the sight line direction on the charge exchange re-combination spectroscopy (CXRS), a code used to modify the poloidal CXRS measurement on Tokamak-60 Upgrade (JT-60U) in Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute is developed, offering an effective tool to modify the measurement and analyse experimental results further. The results show that the poloidal velocity of ion is overestimated but the ion temperature is underestimated by the poloidal CXRS measurement, and they also indicate that the effect of observation angle on rotation velocity is a dominant one in a core region (r/a 〈 0.65), whereas in an edge region where the sight line is nearly normal to the neutral beam, the observation angle effect is very small. The difference between the modified velocity and the neoclassical velocity is not larger than the error in measurement. The difference inside the internal transport barrier (ITB) region is 2-3 times larger than that outside the ITB region, and it increases when the effect of excited components in neutral beam is taken into account. The radial electric field profile is affected greatly by the poloidal rotation term, which possibly indicates the correlation between the poloidal rotation and the transport barrier formation.[第一段]  相似文献

Experiments are described in which structured discharges, including stationary and moving striations, were observed in 4 MHz rf plasmas generated using two solenoidal coil configurations. The structured plasmas which formed in the vicinity of the solenoidal coils were not quenched when elaborate precautions were taken to shield the capacitive electric fields. Measurements of the rf power input to the plasma and the resistance reflected by the plasma into the drive circuit showed no discontinuous change during the formation or disappearance of the structured discharges surrounding the solenoidal coils. Observations of striated rf discharges reported by other investigators are reviewed. Arguments are given to support the conclusion that the striation-like structures observed in rf plasmas and the moving striations observed in dc plasmas are part of the same general family.Much of the work described in this paper was supported by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. We report detailed observations on self-sustained oscillations observed by varying the dynamical resistance in a Ne hollow cathode discharge. The periodicity (T) of these oscillations transform into a state with 2T irrespective of ballast resistance (Rb) at larger driving parameter values. For the intermediate values of driving parameter (4.38-5.06 mA), a window appears for Rb⩾5 kΩ. In the window regime the oscillations are chaotic and the behavior is strongly dependent on Rb  相似文献

Studies of nonsustained disruptive discharges (NSDDs), isolated cases of which can occur in vacuum interrupters, indicate lateral discharges between the cathode and shield, which can initiate a brief discharge between the contacts. To facilitate the study of such discharges, the sample discharges were triggered by a surface discharge induced by a spark gap, built into the side of the cathode, and observed with a high-speed film camera and image-converter camera. The tests showed a cathode spot after igniting. The emitted electrons first charge the shield negatively and then are directed toward the anode. The discharge burns at a high voltage, with current ranging from 10 to 100 A. After a period of up to 400 μs, the current demand increases abruptly; an arc discharge occurs between the contacts and discharges the capacitances near the switch. The contact gap undergoes a rapid dielectric recovery, and the restored voltage is maintained. These types of discharge were also observed with NSDDs; thus it can be assumed that the triggered discharges studied correspond to the NSDD type  相似文献

Evolution of the current density profile associated with magnetic island formation of an m/n=2/1 tearing mode was measured using a motional Stark effect (MSE) diagnostic for the first time in the JT-60U tokamak. With the island growth, the current density profile turned flat at the radial region of the island, followed by an appearance of a hollow structure. As the island shrank, the flat region became narrower, and it finally diminished after the disappearance of the island. The fluctuation of the local poloidal magnetic field from MSE showed a strong correlation with a slow island rotation. This indicates that the observed deformation in the current density profile is localized at the island O point.  相似文献

A spontaneous transition phenomena between two states of a plasma with an internal transport barrier (ITB) is observed in the steady-state phase of the magnetic shear in the negative magnetic shear plasma in the JT-60U tokamak. These two ITB states are characterized by different profiles of the second radial derivative of the ion temperature inside the ITB region (one has a weak concave shape and the other has a strong convex shape) and by different degrees of sharpness of the interfaces between the L mode and the ITB region, which is determined by the turbulence penetration into the ITB region.  相似文献
