Logarithmic divergences in the one-loop scattering amplitude of the heterotic string compactified on the Zn-orbifold are investigated. The coefficient of these divergences is shown to be a function of the indices of the representations to which the massless states of the model belong.  相似文献

The energy of an antiphase boundary has been calculated by means of Pines's elastic spheres method, as modified by incorporating the dependence of atomic size on the neighbors in the first coordination sphere, which represents an advance in the theory of ordered solid solutions. There is a reduction in the elastic strain energy when a nonequilibrium antiphase boundary is formed in CuZn, and if this is incorporated one obtains realistic values for the energies of such boundaries; in AuCu3 the elastic strain energy increases the energy of an antiphase boundary of octahedral type. The change in the elastic strain energy in a nonequilibrium antiphase boundary constitutes a considerable part of the total energy change given by the quasichemical theory, and it introduces substantial corrections into the antiphase-boundary energy for CuZn and AuCu3.  相似文献

We study the finite-size corrections of the dimer model on a square lattice with two different boundary conditions: free and periodic. We find that the finite-size corrections depend in a crucial way on the parity of ; we also show that such unusual finite-size behavior can be fully explained in the framework of the logarithmic conformal field theory.  相似文献

The crystallographic structures of several transition aluminas possessing a face-centred cubic packing of oxygen anions can be considered as deriving from that of a non-stoichiometric spinel. However, they are not yet known in detail owing to the poor crystallinity of most of the samples studied by X-ray or electron diffraction. Conversely, relatively large crystals have been produced in the case of non-stoichiometric spinels in the alumina-rich (or Ga2O3-rich) parts of the Al2O3–AlN, Al2O3–MgO, Al2O3–NiO, Al2O3–Li2O and Ga2O3–MgO systems. Detailed studies of their diffraction patterns have shown that all these phases possess periodic antiphase boundary (PAPB) structures based on the spinel structure. In the case of the so-called δ-transition aluminas, various structural models have been previously proposed and in this paper we are focusing on the striking similarities between their diffraction patterns and those of several metastable PAPB aluminate structures. This makes it possible to show that at least three distinct PAPB structures must be taken into account in the case of δ-transition aluminas. APB planes are either {100} or {110} whereas APB vectors are either 1/2??001? or 1/4??110? when referring to the spinel structure. Neighbouring octahedral and tetrahedral incompatible sites are observed in the vicinity of each APB and cation vacancies are shown to occupy these octahedral sites.  相似文献

One of the best understood families of logarithmic onformal field theories consists of the (1, p) models (p =  2, 3, . . .) of central charge c 1, p =1 ? 6(p ? 1)2/p. This family includes the theories corresponding to the singlet algebras ${\mathcal{M}(p)}$ and the triplet algebras ${\mathcal{W}(p)}$ , as well as the ubiquitous symplectic fermions theory. In this work, these algebras are realised through a coset construction. The ${W^{(2)}_n}$ algebra of level k was introduced by Feigin and Semikhatov as a (conjectured) quantum hamiltonian reduction of ${\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}(n)_k}$ , generalising the Bershadsky–Polyakov algebra ${W^{(2)}_3}$ . Inspired by work of Adamovi? for p = 3, vertex algebras ${\mathcal{B}_p}$ are constructed as subalgebras of the kernel of certain screening charges acting on a rank 2 lattice vertex algebra of indefinite signature. It is shown that for p≤5, the algebra ${\mathcal{B}_p}$ is a quotient of ${W^{(2)}_{p-1}}$ at level ?(p ? 1)2/p and that the known part of the operator product algebra of the latter algebra is consistent with this holding for p> 5 as well. The triplet algebra ${\mathcal{W}(p)}$ is then realised as a coset inside the full kernel of the screening operator, while the singlet algebra ${\mathcal{M}(p)}$ is similarly realised inside ${\mathcal{B}_p}$ . As an application, and to illustrate these results, the coset character decompositions are explicitly worked out for p =  2 and 3.  相似文献

The width W of the active region around an active moving wall in a directed percolation process diverges at the percolation threshold p(c) as W approximately Aepsilon(-nu( parallel)) ln(epsilon(0)/epsilon), with epsilon=p(c)-p, epsilon(0) a constant, and nu( parallel)=1.734 the critical exponent of the characteristic time needed to reach the stationary state xi( parallel) approximately epsilon(-nu(parallel)). The logarithmic factor arises from screening the statistically independent needle shaped subclusters in the active region. Numerical data confirm this scaling behavior.  相似文献

Antiphase domains occur in thin GaAs epitaxial films grown on Ge(001) by molecular beam epitaxy. The domains have been imaged by transmission electron microscopy using 200-type reflections in dark field. The carefully chosen imaging conditions with convergent illumination ensure that doubly diffracted beams from a pair of first order Laue zone discs contribute to the singly diffracted 200-type beams. The three Bragg reflections may add in or out of phase to give domains in either light or dark contrast depending on their polarity.  相似文献

With the use of a HP 5950 A spectrometer X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) of valence band were obtained for Cu-Pd alloys and the density of electron states was calculated by the coherent potential method. It is found that d-resonance states of Pd are present in the alloys containing a high percentage of copper but there are no apparant d-resonance states of Cu in the alloys containing a high percentage of palladium.  相似文献

The existence of one-dimensional regular arrays of antiphase domain boundaries has been confirmed in tin-substituted PZT ferroelectrics of ABO3 perovskite structure (Pb0.99{[(Zr1–y Sn y )1–x Ti x ]0.98Nb0.02}O3,x=0.03 and 0.04,y=0.20) by means of electron diffraction and lattice imaging. Calculation has been made of the number of satellite spots in the diffraction patterns and their positions determined. They coincide well with the electron diffraction patterns experimentally obtained. The finding proves the relative elongation in one dimension of the ferroelectric unit cell caused by a parallel array of electrical dipoles, as compared to the cell of an anti-parallel array of dipoles.  相似文献

Using 13.4 fb(-1) of data collected with the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have observed 300 events for the two-photon production of ground-state pseudoscalar charmonium in the decay eta(c)-->K(0)(S)K-/+pi(+/-). We have measured the eta(c) mass to be [2980.4+/-2.3 (stat)+/-0.6 (syst)] MeV and its full width as [27.0+/-5.8 (stat)+/-1.4 (syst)] MeV. We have determined the two-photon partial width of the eta(c) meson to be [7.6+/-0.8 (stat)+/-0.4 (syst)+/-2.3 (br)] keV, with the last uncertainty associated with the decay branching fraction.  相似文献

Detailed behavior of the magnetoresistance (MR) is studied in lightly doped antiferromagnetic La(1.99)Sr(0.01)CuO(4), where, thanks to the weak-ferromagnetic moment due to spin canting, the antiferromagnetic (AF) domain structure can be manipulated by the magnetic field. The MR behavior demonstrates that CuO(2) planes indeed contain antiphase AF-domain boundaries in which charges are confined, forming antiphase stripes. The data suggest that a high magnetic field turns the antiphase stripes into in-phase stripes, and the latter appear to give better conduction than the former, which challenges the notion that the antiphase character of stripes facilitates charge motion.  相似文献
