We describe a three-family Pati–Salam model from intersecting D6-branes in type IIA string theory on the T6/(Z2×Z2)T6/(Z2×Z2) orientifold which is of strong phenomenological interest. In the model, the gauge coupling unification is achieved naturally at the string scale, and the gauge symmetry can be broken down to the Standard Model (SM) close to the string scale. Moreover, we find that it is possible to obtain the correct SM quark masses and mixings, and the tau lepton mass. Additionally, neutrino masses and mixings may be generated via the seesaw mechanism. Furthermore, we calculate the supersymmetry breaking soft terms, and the corresponding low-energy supersymmetric particle spectra which may potentially be tested at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and provide the observed dark matter density.  相似文献

In this Letter, we present a fermionic extension of the scalar Born–Infeld equation, which has been derived from the Nambu–Goto superstring action in (2+1)(2+1) dimensions through the Cartesian parameterization. It is demonstrated that in the relativistic limit where c→∞c, the fermionic Born–Infeld model reduces to the supersymmetric Chaplygin gas model in one spatial dimension. We display the full anomaly structure of supergravity, including new contributions to the conformal anomaly. Our result has the super-Weyl and Kähler U(1)U(1), transformation properties that are required for implementation of the Green–Schwarz mechanism for anomaly cancellation.  相似文献

We investigate the possibility of localizing various matter fields on the double walls. For spin 0 scalar field, massless zero mode can be normalized on the double walls. However, for spin 1 vector field, the zero mode is not localized on the double walls. In the paper [C.A.S. Almeida, M.M. Ferreira Jr., A.R. Gomes, R. Casana, arXiv:0901.3543 [hep-th]], the authors investigated fermion localization on a Bloch brane, especially, they found fermion resonances on the Bloch brane for both chiralities and related their appearance to branes with internal structure. Inspired by their work, for spin 1/2 spinor field, we focus our attention mainly on the fermion resonances, and also found fermion resonances for both left-handed fermions and right-handed ones on the double walls, which further supports the arguments presented in the paper [C.A.S. Almeida, M.M. Ferreira Jr., A.R. Gomes, R. Casana, arXiv:0901.3543 [hep-th]].  相似文献

In higher dimensional field theories with compactified dimensions there are three standard ways to do perturbative calculations: (i) by the summation over Kaluza-Klein towers; (ii) by the summation over winding numbers making use of the Poisson-resummation formula; and (iii) by using mixed propagators, where the coordinates of the four infinite dimensions are Fourier-transformed to momentum space while those of the compactified dimension are kept in configuration space. The third method is broadly used in finite temperature field theory calculations. One of its advantages is that one can easily separate the ultraviolet divergent terms of the uncompactified theory from the non-local finite corrections arising from windings around the compact dimensions. In this note we demonstrate the use of this formalism by calculating one-loop self-energy corrections in a 5D theory formulated on the manifold and on the orbifold .  相似文献

We investigate two-dimensional Wess-Zumino models in the continuum and on spatial lattices in detail. We show that a non-antisymmetric lattice derivative not only excludes chiral fermions but in addition introduces supersymmetry breaking lattice artifacts. We study the non-local and antisymmetric SLAC derivative which allows for chiral fermions without doublers and minimizes those artifacts. The supercharges of the lattice Wess-Zumino models are obtained by dimensional reduction of Dirac operators in high-dimensional spaces. The normalizable zero modes of the models with N=1 and N=2 supersymmetry are counted and constructed in the weak- and strong-coupling limits. Together with known methods from operator theory this gives us complete control of the zero mode sector of these theories for arbitrary coupling.  相似文献

A number theoretic approach to string compactification is developed for Calabi–Yau hypersurfaces in arbitrary dimensions. The motivic strategy involved is illustrated by showing that the Hecke eigenforms derived from Galois group orbits of the holomorphic two-form of a particular type of K3 surface can be expressed in terms of modular forms constructed from the worldsheet theory. The process of deriving string physics from spacetime geometry can be reversed, allowing the construction of K3 surface geometry from the string characters of the partition function. A general argument for K3 modularity is given by combining mirror symmetry with the proof of the Shimura–Taniyama conjecture.  相似文献

We investigate the massive graviton contributions to 4D gravity in a 6D brane world scenario, whose bulk field content can include that of 6D chiral gauged supergravity. We consider a general class of solutions having 3-branes, 4D Poincaré symmetry and axisymmetry in the internal space. We show that these contributions, which we compute analytically, can be independent of the brane vacuum energy as a consequence of geometrical and topological properties of the above-mentioned codimension two brane world. These results support the idea that in such models the gravitational interactions may be decoupled from the brane vacuum energy.  相似文献

We present the full three-loop β-functions for the MSSM generalised to include additional matter multiplets in 5, 10 representations of SU (5). We analyse the effect of three-loop running on the sparticle spectrum for the MSSM Snowmass benchmark points. This Letter discusses the orientifold projection of the quantum corrections to type IIA strings compactified on rigid Calabi–Yau threefolds. It is shown that N=2N=2 membrane instanton effects give a holomorphic contribution to the superpotential, while the perturbative corrections enter into the Kähler potential. At the level of the scalar potential the corrections to the Kähler potential give rise to a positive energy contribution similar to adding anti-D3-branes in the KKLT scenario. This provides a natural mechanism to lift an AdS vacuum to a meta-stable dS vacuum.  相似文献

We investigate, which lightest supersymmetric particles can be obtained via a non-vanishing lepton- or baryon-number violating operator at the grand unification scale within the R-parity violating minimal supergravity model. We employ the full one-loop renormalization group equations. We take into account restrictions from the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon and b→sγbsγ, as well as collider constraints from LEP and the Tevatron. We consider a six-dimensional Einstein–Maxwell system compactified in an axisymmetric two-dimensional space with one capped regularized conical brane of codimension one. We study the cosmological evolution which is induced on the regularized brane as it moves in between known static   bulk and cap solutions. Looking at the resulting Friedmann equation, we see that the brane cosmology at high energies is dominated by a five-dimensional ρ2ρ2 energy density term. At low energies, we obtain a Friedmann equation with a term linear to the energy density with, however, negative coefficient in the small four-brane radius limit (i.e., with negative effective Newton's constant). We propose new methods for calculation of the discrete spectrum, the reflection amplitude and the correlation functions of boundary Liouville theory on a strip with Lorentzian signature. They are based on the structure of the vertex operator V=e-φ in terms of the asymptotic operators. The methods first are tested for the particle dynamics in the Morse potential, where similar structures appear. Application of our methods to boundary Liouville theory reproduces the known results obtained earlier in the bootstrap approach, but there can arise a certain extension when the boundary parameters are near to critical values. Namely, in this case we have found up to four different equidistant series of discrete spectra, and the reflection amplitude is modified, respectively.  相似文献

The sensitivity of the ATLAS detector to the discovery of a heavy charged Higgs boson is presented. Assuming a heavy SUSY spectrum, the most promising channels above the top quark mass are H±tb and H± → τ±ντ which provide coverage in the low and high tanβ regions up to ∼ 600 GeV. The achievable precisions on the charged Higgs mass and tanβ determination are also discussed. The H±W± h0 channel, though restricted to a small MSSM parameter space, shows a viable signal in NMSSM where the parameter space is less constrained. The observation of the channel H → τL ντ + c.c. may constitute a distinctive evidence for models with singlet neutrinos in large extra dimensions.  相似文献
