We compute the time evolution of elliptic flow in non-central relativistic heavy-ion collisions, using a (2+12+1)-dimensional code with longitudinal boost-invariance to simulate viscous fluid dynamics in the causal Israel–Stewart formulation. We show that even “minimal” shear viscosity η/s=?/(4π)η/s=?/(4π) leads to a large reduction of elliptic flow compared to ideal fluid dynamics, raising questions about the interpretation of recent experimental data from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider.  相似文献

The pattern of angular correlations of hadrons with a (semi-)hard trigger hadron in heavy-ion collisions has attracted considerable interest. In particular, unexpected large angle structures on the away side (opposite to the trigger) have been found. Several explanations have been brought forward, among them Mach shockwaves and Cherenkov radiation. Most of these scenarios are characterized by radial symmetry around the parton axis, thus angular correlations also determine the rapidity dependence of the correlation. If the observed correlations are remnants of an away side parton after interaction with the medium created in the collision, pQCD allows to calculate the distribution P(y)P(y) of the away side partons in rapidity. The measured correlation then arises as a folding of P(y)P(y) and the rapidity structure of the correlation taking into account the detector acceptance. This places non-trivial and rather stringent constraints on the underlying scenario. We investigate these dependences and demonstrate that Mach shockwaves survive this folding procedure well whereas Cherenkov radiation scenarios face new challenges.  相似文献

If the matter produced in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions reaches thermal equilibrium, its subsequent evolution follows the laws of ideal fluid dynamics. We show that general predictions can be made on this basis alone, irrespective of the details of the hydrodynamical model. We derive several scaling rules for momentum spectra and anisotropic flow (in particular the elliptic flow, v2v2, and the hexadecupole flow, v4v4) of identified particles. Comparison with existing data is briefly discussed, and qualitative predictions are made for LHC.  相似文献

We present empirical features of parton energy loss in nucleus–nucleus collisions at RHIC through studies of the spectra and nuclear modification factors (RAARAA) for charged hadrons, neutral pions (π0π0) and non-photonic electrons. The flat distribution of RAARAA at high transverse momentum (pTpT) for a given collision centrality is consistent with a scenario where parton energy loss ΔpTΔpT is proportional to pTpT. The centrality dependence of the parton energy loss indicates the absence of path length dependence in the magnitude of energy loss. The lack of strong path length dependence suggests a dynamical picture where the dense partonic medium undergoes rapid expansion and the density of the medium falls rapidly in the first a few Fermi interval, which may be much shorter than the full path length. Implications of the empirical constraints on the parton energy loss will also be discussed.  相似文献

To complement existing knowledge of the density matrix γF(x,y)γF(x,y) of independent fermions for N   particles in one dimension under harmonic confinement, the corresponding matrix γIB(x,y)γIB(x,y) for impenetrable bosons is given for N=2N=2 and 3 (with the N=4N=4 form available also). For fermions the momentum density is then obtained and illustrated numerically for N=10N=10. The boson momentum density is studied analytically at high momentum p  , the coefficients of the p−4p−4 and p−6p−6 terms being tabulated for N=2–5N=25 inclusive. Their dependence on powers of N   is exhibited numerically. Finally, the functional relationship between γIB(x,y)γIB(x,y) and γF(x,y)γF(x,y) is formally set out and illustrated.  相似文献

The effect of Ru substitution for Mn in bilayered oxides La1.2Sr1.8(Mn1−yRuy)2O7 (0?y?0.20?y?0.2) was investigated by magnetization measurements and low-temperature Lorentz transmission electron microscopy. It was found that the magnetic anisotropy is controlled by the Ru content y and temperature T. The easy axis changes from 〈1 1 0〉 for the y=0y=0 crystal to the c  -axis for y=0.2y=0.2, and it rotates away from the c-  axis for the y=0.05y=0.05 and y=0.07y=0.07 crystals with decreasing temperature. Furthermore, maze-shaped magnetic domain structures were observed in the (0 0 1) thin crystals with 0.05?y?0.20.05?y?0.2. Changes in domain size and structure indicate that the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy becomes stronger as Ru content y increases.  相似文献

Azimuthal anisotropy in heavy-ion collisions is studied by taking into account the ridges generated by semi-hard scattering of intermediate-momentum partons, which can be sensitive to the initial spatial configuration of the medium in non-central collisions. In a simple treatment of the problem where the recombination of only thermal partons is considered, analytical formulas can be derived that yield results in accord with the data on v2v2 for pT<1–2 GeV/cpT<12 GeV/c. Centrality dependence is described by a geometrical factor. Ridge phenomenology is used to determine the initial slopes of v2v2 at low pTpT for both pion and proton. For higher pTpT, shower partons from high-pTpT jets must be included, but they are not considered here.  相似文献

Analytic expressions are given for the baryonic, electric and strangeness chemical potentials which explicitly show the importance of various terms. Simple scaling relations connecting these chemical potentials are found. Applications to particle ratios and to fluctuations and related thermal properties such as the isothermal compressibility κTκT are illustrated. A possible divergence of κTκT is discussed.  相似文献

The grand partition functions Z(T,B)Z(T,B) of the Ising model on L×LL×L triangular lattices with fully periodic boundary conditions, as a function of temperature T and magnetic field B  , are evaluated exactly for L<12L<12 (using microcanonical transfer matrix) and approximately for L?12L?12 (using Wang–Landau Monte Carlo algorithm). From Z(T,B)Z(T,B), the distributions of the partition function zeros of the triangular-lattice Ising model in the complex temperature plane for real B≠0B0 are obtained and discussed for the first time. The critical points aN(x)aN(x) and the thermal scaling exponents yt(x)yt(x) of the triangular-lattice Ising antiferromagnet, for various values of x=e−2βBx=e2βB, are estimated using the partition function zeros.  相似文献
