In this study, complexes formed via hydrogen bond interactions between N-protonated adrenaline (AdH+) and DMSO have been studied by density functional theory (DFT). The relevant geometries, energies, and IR characteristics of the hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) have been systematically investigated. The natural bond orbital (NBO) and the quantum theory of atoms in molecule (QTAIM) analysis have also been applied to understand the nature of the hydrogen bonding interactions in complexes. The H-bonds involving amino or hydroxyls as H-donor are dominant H-bonds in complexes and are attributed to strong H-bonds. The weak H-bonds, such as π H-bonds and H-bonds involving methyl (DMSO) or methenyls (C2H6 and C5H7 of AdH+) as H-acceptors, were found in complexes as well. The complexes in which the dominant H-bond involves amino of AdH+ as H-donor are more stable than those with the dominant H-bond involving hydroxyls as H-donor. Some relationships between various properties of QTAIM, NBO, geometry as well as frequency were also investigated.  相似文献

The H(2)CO...(HF)(n) (n = 1, ..., 9) complexes were investigated using the MP2 method and the following basis sets: 6-311++G(d,p), aug-cc-pVDZ and aug-cc-pVTZ. It was found that the cooperativity effect enhances significantly the F-H...O hydrogen bond; in some of cases one can detect the covalent nature of hydrogen bonding. To deepen the nature of the interactions investigated, the scheme of decomposition of the interaction energy was applied; for stronger H-bonds where the cooperativity is more important, the delocalization energy term increases. The ratio of delocalization energy to electrostatic energy increases for stronger hydrogen bonds where the proton...acceptor distance is shorter. The Bader theory was also applied, and it was found that for stronger H-bonds the electronic energy density at the proton...acceptor bond critical point is negative and may be attributed to the partly covalent interaction.  相似文献

Density functional theoretical studies on hydrogen-bonded complexes of serotonin with methanol/ethanol have been carried out in a systematic way. The conformational analysis led to ten stable conformers that can be either gauche or anti depending on the dihedral angle values taken by ethylamine side chain and the 5-hydroxyl group. Serotonin-molecules strongly bind with ethanol than methanol. Ethylamine side chain is the most reactive site in both methanol/ethanol complexes and it is responsible for the stability order. The topological parameters, electron density, and Laplacian of electron density show excellent correlation with the hydrogen bond length. Natural bond orbital analysis confirms C–H···O hydrogen bond formed between the serotonin–alcohol complexes to be red shift in nature except for Gph(out)anti complex both with methanol and ethanol to be blue shifted. The energy decomposition analysis reveals that strong interactions between serotonin and ethanol/methanol are due to the attractive contributions from the electrostatic component.  相似文献

In this work, mono- and di-hydrated complexes of the formamide were studied. The calculations were performed at the MP2/6-311++G(d,p) level of approximation. The atoms in molecules theory (AIM), based on the topological properties of the electronic density distribution, was used to characterize the different types of bonds. The analysis of the hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) in the most stable mono- and di-hydrated formamide complexes shows a mutual reinforcement of the interactions, and some of these complexes can be considered as "bifunctional hydrogen bonding hydration complexes". In addition, we analyzed how the strength and the nature of the interactions, in mono-hydrated complexes, are modified by the presence of a second water molecule in di-hydrated formamide complexes. Structural changes, cooperativity, and electron density redistributions demonstrate that the H-bonds are stronger in the di-hydrated complexes than in the corresponding mono-hydrated complexes, wherein the σ- and π-electron delocalization were found. To explain the nature of such interactions, we carried out the atoms in molecules theory in conjunction with reduced variational space self-consistent field (RVS) decomposition analysis. On the basis of the local Virial theorem, the characteristics of the local electron energy density components at the bond critical points (BCPs) (the 1/4? (2)ρ(b) component of electron energy density and the kinetic energy density) were analyzed. These parameters were used in conjunction with the electron density and the Laplacian of the electron density to analyze the characteristics of the interactions. The analysis of the interaction energy components for the systems considered indicates that the strengthening of the hydrogen bonds is manifested by an increased contribution of the electrostatic energy component represented by the kinetic energy density at the BCP.  相似文献

Theoretical studies on hydrogen-bonded complexes between amino acids (glycine, alanine, and leucine) and urea in gas phase have been carried out using density functional theory (DFT) and ab initio methods at the B3LYP/6-311++g** and MP2/6-311++g** theory levels. The structures, binding energy, Chelpg (charges from electrostatic potentials using a grid-based method) charge distribution, and bond characteristics of the mentioned complexes were calculated. Urea is a good H-bond donor and an excellent receptor for highly electronegative atoms like O and N, through the formation of two or more hydrogen bonds. The NH2 and COOH groups of amino acids can form several different types of H-bonds with urea molecular, as well as CαH and alkyl side chains. The calculated high binding energy also suggests multiple H-bonds formed in one complex. The OH···O contact is the strongest hydrogen bond interaction with H···O separation around 1.65 Å and its relevant angle close to 176°. The closely linear amide H-bonds NH···O and OH···N strongly stabilize the amino acid–urea complex with H···O separation between 1.89 and 2.38 Å. The weaker CH···O/N H-bonds are also discussed as significant interaction in biological systems involving amino acids.  相似文献

The conversion between anamorphoses of the dihydrated glycine complex was studied by means of B3LYP/6-31++G**. It was found that proton transfer was accompanied by hydrogen bond transfer in the process of conversion between different kinds of anamorphoses. With proton transfer, the electrostatic action was notably increased and the hydrogen-bonding action was evidently strengthened when the dihydrated neutral glycine complex converts into dihydrated zwitterionic glycine complex. The activation energy required for hydrogen bond transfer between dihydrated neutral glycine complexes is very low (6.32 kJ·mol-1); however, the hydrogen bond transfer between dihydrated zwitterionic glycine complexes is rather difficult with the required activation energy of 13.52 kJ·mol-1 due to the relatively strong electrostatic action. The activation energy required by proton transfer is at least 27.33 kJ·mol-1, higher than that needed for hydrogen bond transfer. The activation energy for either hydrogen bond transfer or proton transfer is in the bond-energy scope of medium-strong hydrogen bond, so the four kinds of anamorphoses of the dihydrated glycine complex could convert mutually.  相似文献

The complexes formed via hydrogen bonding interactions between cysteine and propanoic acid have been studied at the density three-parameter hybrid functional DFT-B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level regarding their geometries, energies, vibrational frequencies, and topological features of the electron density. The quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) and natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis was employed to elucidate the interaction characteristics in cysteine–propanoic acid (Cys–Prop) complexes. More than 10 kinds of hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) including intra- and inter-molecular H-bonds have been found in Cys–Prop complexes. The results show that both the strength of H-bonds and the deformation are important factors for the stability of Cys–Prop complexes. The strongest H-bonds (O2HA···O1B and O2HA···O1B) exist in the most stable Cys–Prop complex. The stronger H-bonds formed between hydroxyl and O (or N) atom usually stronger than those involve C (or S) atom. Relationships between the electron density (ρ) of BCP and H-bond length as well as the Fock matrix element (F ij) has also been investigated and used to study the nature of H-bonds. Moreover, the results show that the change of the bond length linearly correlates with the corresponding frequency shift.  相似文献

The interactions of L-alanine with gamma- and alpha-alumina have been investigated by diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS). L-alanine/alumina samples were dried from aqueous suspensions, at 36.5 degrees C, with two amino acid concentrations (0.4 and 0.8 mmol g-1) and at different pH values (1, 6, and 13). The vibrational spectra proved that the nature of L-alanine interactions with both aluminas is the same (hydrogen bonding), although the groups involved depend on the L-alanine form and on alumina surface groups, both controlled by the pH. For samples prepared at pH 1, cationic L-alanine [CH3CH(NH3+)COOH] displaces physisorbed water from alumina, and strong hydrogen bonds are established between the carbonyl groups of alanine, as electron donors, and the surface Al-OH2+ groups of alumina. This occurs at the expense of alanine dimer dissociation and breaking of intramolecular bonds. When samples are prepared at pH 6, the interacting groups are Al-OH2+ and the carboxylate groups of zwitterionic L-alanine [CH3CH(NH3+)COO-]. The affinity of L-alanine toward alumina decreases, as the strong NH3+...-OOC intermolecular hydrogen bonds prevail over the interactions with alumina. Thus, for a load of 0.8 mmol g-1, phase segregation is observed. On alpha-alumina, crystal deposition is even observed for a load of 0.4 mmol g-1. At pH 13, the carboxylate groups of anionic L-alanine [CH3CH(NH2)COO-] are not affected by alumina. Instead, hydrogen bond interactions occur between NH2 and the Al-OH surface groups of the substrate. Complementary N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms showed that adsorption of L-alanine occurs onto the alumina pore network for samples prepared at pH 1 and 13, whereas at pH 6 the amino acid/alumina interactions are not strong enough to promote adsorption. The mesoporous structure and the high specific surface area of gamma-alumina make it a more efficient substrate for adsorption of L-alanine. For each alumina, however, it is the nature of the specific interactions and not the porosity of the substrate that determines the adsorption process.  相似文献

As the first step toward understanding the augment role of vitamin C (Vc) for the anticancer effect of methylglyoxal (MG), the nature of the coupling interactions between Vc and MG has been systematically investigated at the B3LYP/6-311++G** level of theory in combination with the atoms in molecules (AIM) theory, natural bond orbital (NBO) method, and energy decomposition analysis (EDA). The possible stable complexes have been located on their potential energy surface (PES). Most of them are characterized by one or two intermolecular H-bonds with the binding energies varying from −11.1 to −2.0 kcal/mol. AIM analyses suggest that all the intermolecular H-bonds have been predominated by the electrostatic interaction. A good linear correlation between the intermolecular H-bond distance and the electron density as well as its Laplacian at the bond critical point of the intermolecular H-bond has been observed. Depending on the selected coupling modes between Vc and MG, the origin of the blue-shifts of the stretching vibrational frequencies of different C–H bonds has been elucidated. Additionally, the inherent reason for the positive role of Vc in the anticancer process for MG has been verified through the investigation of the one-electron oxidation behaviors of the most stable complex.  相似文献

Low-temperature, high-resolution X-ray studies of charge distributions in the three Schiff bases, the dianil of 2-hydroxy-5-methylisophthaldehyde, 3,5-dinitro-N-salicylidenoethylamine and 3-nitro-N-salicylidenocyclohexylamine, have been carried out. These structures exhibit interesting weak interactions, including two extreme cases of intramolecular hydrogen bonds that are ionic N(+)-H...O- and neutral O-H...N in nature. These two types of hydrogen bond reflect differences in geometrical parameters and electron density distribution. At the level of geometry, the neutral O-H...N hydrogen bond is accompanied by an increase in the length of the C(1)-O(1) bond, opening of the ipso-C(1) angle, elongation of the aromatic C-C bonds, shortening of the C(7)-N(2) bond and increased length of the C(1)-C(7) bond, relative to the ionic hydrogen bond type. According to the geometrical and critical point parameters, the neutral O-H...N hydrogen bond seems to be stronger than the ionic ones. There are also differences between charge density parameters of the aromatic rings consistent with the neutral hydrogen bond being stronger than the ionic ones, with a concomitant reduction in the aromaticity of the ring. Compounds with the ionic hydrogen bonds show a larger double-bond character in the C-O bond than appears in the compound containing a neutral hydrogen bond; this suggests that the electronic structure of the former pair of compounds includes a contribution from a zwitterionic canonical form. Furthermore, in the case of ionic hydrogen bonds, the corresponding interaction lines appear to be curved in the vicinity of the hydrogen atoms. In the 3-nitro-N-salicylidenocyclohexylamine crystal there exists, in addition to the intramolecular hydrogen bond, a pair of intermolecular O...H interactions in a centrosymmetric dimer unit.  相似文献

MP2/6-311++G(3pd,3df) calculations were performed on complexes of acetylene and fluoroform acting as the proton donating systems and different Lewis bases being the proton acceptors since these complexes are linked through C-H···Y hydrogen bonds. Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules (QTAIM) is applied to explain the nature of these interactions. The characteristics of bond critical points are presented for these complexes. The inter-relations between energetic and geometrical parameters as well as the parameters derived from the Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) theory are analyzed here. Red- and blue-shifted hydrogen bonds are detected for the complexes investigated and the differences between those interactions are analyzed from the QTAIM perspective. It is shown that such differences are in agreement with the Bent rule. The position of the bond critical point of the proton donating bond is connected with the nature of hydrogen bonding, that is, if it is blue- or red-shifted.  相似文献

A series of hydrogen-bonded complexes between N-heterocyclic analogs of Indene and amino acid side-chain mimics have been analyzed employing second-order Møller-Plesset perturbation (MP2) theory and density functional theory with dispersion function (DFT-D) calculations with the aim of gaining greater insight in to the nature of intermolecular interactions in these systems. In this study, the hydrogen bonding ability of N-heterocyclic analogs of Indene towards amino acid side-chain mimics follows the sequence Azaindazole (AIND) > Indazole (IND) > Azaindole (AIN) > Indole (IN) whereas the hydrogen bonding ability of amino acid side-chain mimics towards N-heterocyclic analogs of Indene follows the sequence AcOH > MeNH2 > MeOH > MeSH. Bader’s theory of atoms in molecules (AIM) and natural bond orbitals (NBO) analyses are employed to elucidate the interaction characteristics in the complexes under study. The purpose of conducting these studies is to measure the relative strength of hydrogen bonding interactions such as N-H···O=C, N-H···O, N-H···S, N-H···N, and O-H···N in these complexes and their role in providing stability to the complexes. The AIM theory shows good correlation of the electron density and its Laplacian at the bond critical points (BCP) with the computed stabilization energy for all the complexes under study.

Ab initio and density functional theory studies have been performed on the hydrogen‐bonded complexes of neutral and protonated nicotine with ethanol, methanol, and trifluromethanol to explore their relative stability in a systematic way. Among all the hydrogen‐bonded nicotine complexes considered here, protonated forms in nicotine–ethanol and nicotine–methanol, and neutral form in nicotine–trifluromethanol complexes have been found to be the most stable. In the former two complexes, the proton attached to the pyrrolidine nitrogen acts as a strong hydrogen bond donor, whereas the pyrrolidine nitrogen atom acts as a hydrogen bond acceptor in the latter case. Neutral complex of nicotine with trifluromethanol has been found to possess a very short hydrogen bond (1.57 Å) and basis set superposition error corrected hydrogen bond energy value of 19 kcal/mol. The nature of the various hydrogen bonds formed has been investigated through topological aspects using Bader's atoms in molecules theory. From the calculated topological results, excellent linear correlation is shown to exist among the hydrogen bond length, electron density, and its Laplacian at the bond critical points for all the complexes considered. The natural bond orbital analysis has been carried out to investigate the charge transfer in the nicotine alcohol complexes. In contrast to the blue shifting behavior that is generally exhibited by other C? H···O hydrogen bonds involving sp3 carbon atom, the C? H···O hydrogen bond in the protonated nicotine–ethanol and methanol complexes has been found to be proper with red shifting in nature. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

A whole dataset containing 55 hydrogen bonds were studied at the MP2∕aug-cc-pVTZ level of theory. The changes of geometries and stretching vibrational frequencies show that there are 31 redshifted and 24 blueshifted hydrogen-bonded complexes. Natural bond orbital analysis was carried out at the B3LYP∕aug-cc-pVTZ level of theory to obtain the electron densities in the bonding and antibonding orbitals of the proton donor X-H bond, which are closely associated with its bond length. Based on their relationship, a generally applicable method considering both the electron densities in the bonding and antibonding orbitals of the proton donor X-H bond has been developed to quantitatively describe the hyperconjugative effect on the X-H bond length changes in these hydrogen-bonded complexes.  相似文献

The hydrogen-bonded isoelectronic complexes of aniline with HF/F- and an ionic form of aniline with HF were investigated by use of computational methods: Symmetry-Adapted Perturbation Theory (SAPT), Atoms in Molecules (AIM), and Natural Bond Orbitals (NBO) approaches. All computations were based on structural models previously generated at the B3LYP/6-311+(d,p) level. The differences between neutral (Ph-NH2...HF)and anionic (Ph-NH2...F- and Ph-NH-...HF) complexes were clearly outlined. The discussed charged complexes serve as Lewis acids and base, HF and F-, respectively. It was found that electrostatic and induction energy terms, obtained as a result of the SAPT method, are most dependent on the type of H-bonding (i.e.,charged or neutral). The electrostatic term is the most distinctive between the neutral and charge-assisted hydrogen bonds in the investigated two-body systems, whereas the latter is more significant in the case of weaker interactions (larger H...B distances). Application of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to energy components obtained from the SAPT procedure indicated that all of them are relatively well intercorrelated. The above-mentioned terms together with the exchange energy terms are the most important contributions ofthe main principal component, which describes 95% of the total variance. Comparison of AIM parameters in bond critical points for modeled H-bond systems shows a good agreement with those from equilibrium complexes, both experimental and calculated ones. It was found that charged H-bonded complexes exhibit larger fluctuation of electron density and its Laplacian in bond critical points, in line with SAPT analysis. NBO results confirmed the effect of the strength of interaction on property changes both in the region of H-bonding and outside of it. The latter, more distant consequences follow the Bent-Walsh rule for all studied complexes.  相似文献

In the present study, it is attempted to scrutinize the hydrogen bonding interaction between Carmustine drug and DNA pyrimidine bases by means of density functional theory calculations regarding their geometries, binding energies, vibrational frequencies, and topological features of the electron density in the gas phase and the water solution. Based on the density functional theory results, it is found that the process of intermolecular interaction between Carmustine drug and nucleobases is exothermic and all of the optimized configurations are stable. Furthermore, the negative stability energy represented by a polarizable continuum model shows the significant increase in the solubility of the nucleobase after hydrogen bonding intermolecular interaction in the presence of water solvent. It is also found that the intermolecular hydrogen bonds between drug and the nucleobases play the significant role in the stability of the physisorption configurations. Hydrogen bond energies for hydrogen-bonded complexes are obtained from Espinosa method and the atoms-in-molecules theory are also applied to get a more precise insight into the nature of the intermolecular hydrogen bond interactions.  相似文献

The energies, geometries and harmonic vibrational frequencies of 1:1 5‐hydroxytryptamine‐water (5‐HT‐H2O) complexes are studied at the MP2/6‐311++G(d,p) level. Natural bond orbital (NBO), quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) analyses and the localized molecular orbital energy decomposition analysis (LMO‐EDA) were performed to explore the nature of the hydrogen‐bonding interactions in these complexes. Various types of hydrogen bonds (H‐bonds) are formed in these 5‐HT‐H2O complexes. The intermolecular C4H55‐HT···Ow H‐bond in HTW3 is strengthened due to the cooperativity, whereas no such cooperativity is found in the other 5‐HT‐H2O complexes. H‐bond in which nitrogen atom of amino in 5‐HT acted as proton donors was stronger than other H‐bonds. Our researches show that the hydrogen bonding interaction plays a vital role on the relative stabilities of 5‐HT‐H2O complexes.  相似文献
