Lucky Cement Factory, Pezu is using limestone of Sheikh Buddin Hills as a raw material in cement. Workers of the factory have direct and general public have indirect exposure to radiological hazard due to natural radionuclides present in limestone. To address the radiological hazards, limestone, mixed (limestone+clay) and cement samples were evaluate for concentrations of 222Rn and 226Ra using CR-39, RAD7 and HPGe detectors. Maximum mean values of 222Rn using CR-39 and RAD7 detectors were found 1447 ± 198 and 1416 ± 74 Bq.m?3 in cement samples and minimum were found in 536 ± 122 and 525 ± 45 Bq.m?3 limestone samples, respectively. Maximum mean value of radon exhalation rate of 12.28 ± 1.68 Bq.m?2 h?1 in cement samples was found below the world average value of 57.6 Bq.m?2 h?1. Maximum mean values of 226Ra measured by CR-39 and HPGe detectors were found 24.25 ± 3.35 and 23.6 ± 0.70 Bq.kg?1 in cement samples and minimum were found in 8.98 ± 2.02 and 9.19 ± 0.40 Bq.kg?1 limestone samples, respectively. A positive correlations (R2 = 0.9714) using CR-39 and RAD7 detectors and (R2 = 0.9573) using CR-39 and HPGe detectors were obtained for the concentrations of 222Rn and 226Ra, respectively. Maximum mean value of annual effective dose of 347.78 ± 47.58 µSv.y?1 in cement samples was found below the world average value of 1100 µSv.y?1.  相似文献

The activity concentrations and absorbed gamma dose of primordial radionuclides 238U, 232Th and 40K were determined employing γ-ray spectrometry in 31 soil samples from the land area earmarked for house construction in Perambalur district and 14 rock samples from quarries that supply stones for the entire district. The soil samples registered relatively a higher mean value of 13.2 Bq kg?1 for 238U, 66 Bq kg?1 for 232Th and 340.3 Bq kg?1 for 40K as compared to mean values for rock samples (238U—8.0 Bq kg?1; 232Th—65.1 Bq kg?1; 40K—199.1 Bq kg?1). The mean absorbed gamma dose rate for soil (61.4 nGy h?1) marginally exceeded the prescribed limit of 55 nGy h?1 while, rocks registered the mean absorbed gamma dose rate of 10.4 nGy h?1. The mean radium equivalent activity was distinctly higher in soil (130.6 Bq kg?1) than in rock (20.0 Bq kg?1). However, these values were lower than the limit (370 Bq kg?1) set by OECD for building materials. It is evident from the data that the soil and rocks do not pose any radiological risk for house constructions in Perambalur district.  相似文献

Knowledge of radioactivity levels in human diet is of particular concern for the estimation of possible radiological hazards to human health. However, very few surveys of radioactivity in food have been conducted in Ghana. The natural radionuclides 226Ra, 228Ra, 228Th and 40K were measured in the foodstuffs using gamma ray spectrometry. All samples were found to contain high 40K content in the range 87.77?C368.50?Bq?kg?1. The maximum concentration of 228Th and 40K were found in cassava to be 14.93?±?3.86 and 368.50?±?19.20?Bq?kg?1, respectively. The total annual committed effective dose was estimated to be 4.64?mSv. The daily intake of radionuclides from food consumption reveals that cassava and plantain are the highest contributors, while millet is the lowest. The daily radionuclide intake from the foodstuffs consumed by the general public was 411.32?Bq and the daily internal dose resulting from ingestion of the radionuclides in the foodstuffs was 0.01?mSv. The radionuclide concentrations were comparable with those reported from other countries.  相似文献

The thermal decomposition rate constant of AIBN (??d) in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF)/methyl methacrylate (MM) mixtures of various compositions at 60°C is studied. The ??d value is 6.45 × 10?4min?1 for pure DMF and 7.20 × 10?1 min?1 for pure methyl methacrylate. The ??d values of DMF/MM mixtures were found to be dependent on the mixture composition. This dependence is not a linear function of the monomer mole fraction, but has a minimum at ca. 20 30 mol% of MM. The relationship between the AIBN decomposition rate constant and the monomer mole fraction was interpreted on the basis of solvation of the initiator molecules. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A study of the biodegradation of imidacloprid in soil was carried out under laboratory conditions. Sandy soil samples were fortified with imidacloprid at 50, 100 and 150 mg kg?1 along with 45 x 107 colony forming units (cfus) of Bacillus aerophilus and the samples were compared with unamended soil. The samples were extracted with acetonitrile, cleaned up by treatment with primary secondary amine sorbent and graphitised carbon black. The residues of imidacloprid and its metabolites were analysed by high performance liquid chromatography. The parent compound, imidacloprid, was found to be more persistent in both the treatments. Among metabolites, the highest values were obtained for urea and olefin while 5-hydroxy, 6-chloronicotinic acid (6-CNA), nitrosimine and nitroguanidine (NTG) were also observed in all the treatments in amended soil. In case of unamended (control) soil, 6-CNA was found to be the most persistent metabolite followed by olefin, urea, 5-hydroxy, nitrosimine and NTG metabolites. Total imidacloprid residues for control soil samples followed first-order kinetics at 50 and 150 mg kg?1 but in case of control imidacloprid fortified at 100 mg kg?1, the total residues of imidacloprid and its metabolites followed pseudo-first-order kinetics. The respective half-life value for 50 mg kg?1 was 25.08 days and 30.10 days for both 100 and 150 mg kg?1. However, total imidacloprid residues followed pseudo-first-order kinetics for its applications at 50, 100 and 150 mg kg?1 in sandy loam soil amended with B. aerophilus. The half-life values for 50, 100 and 150 mg kg?1 were worked out to be 14.33, 15.05 and 18.81 days, respectively. With the use of B. aerophilus, the reduction percentage of initial applied dose imidacloprid in sandy loam soil was found to be higher in all the three doses as compared to that of the control samples.  相似文献

The concentration of radioactive226Ra,232Th and40K in building and ceramic materials of Bangladesh was investigated by γ-spectrometry with two HPGe detectors. Radium equivalent activities, representative level index values, criterion formula, emanation coefficients and222Rn mass exhalation rates were estimated for the radiation hazard of the natural radioactivity in the materials. The activity concentrations of the natural radionuclides, radium equivalent activities, emanation coefficients and222Rn mass exhalation rates are compared with the corresponding values for building and ceramic materials of different countries. The radium equivalent activities in the samples varied between 30.9 (mosaic stone) and 328.0 Bq·kg−1 (gypsum). The emanation coefficient of the materials ranged from 7.83 (cement) to 33.0% (soil) and the222Rn mass exhalation rate ranged from 2.31 (stone chips) to 118.0 μBq·kg−1·s−1 (gypsum).  相似文献

In this article, we present results obtained from a radiometric survey that was conducted in the Leepa Valley of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan. The purpose of current study is to appraise the radioactivity levels and the associated health hazards due to the terrestrial radionuclide in soil and rock samples. In this regard, 16 soil and 17 rock samples were collected from different locations of the Leepa Valley. After processing the samples, activity concentrations of primordial (232Th, 226Ra and 40K) and anthropogenic (137Cs) radionuclides were determined using a P-type coaxial high purity germanium detector. From the results obtained the mean activity concentrations of radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th and 40K in the soil samples were found to be 31.25 ± 0.46, 44.1 ± 1.07 and 575 ± 8.89 Bq kg?1 respectively. Whilst, in rock samples 226Ra, 232Th and 40K mean activities were found as 28.46 ± 0.45, 48.63 ± 1.12 and 666.7 ± 9.39 Bq kg?1, respectively. The 137Cs concentration level in soil and rock samples is found to be 15.04 ± 0.29 and 5.7 ± 0.16 Bq kg?1, respectively. The average radium equivalent activity (R aeq) was found as 143.16 and 142.93 Bq kg?1 in soil and rock samples, respectively. These findings are less than the recommended safe value of 370 Bq kg?1 as given in OECD report (1979). The values of external (H ex) and internal hazard index (H in) are also less than unity. Mean value of absorbed dose rate was found as 69.78 nGy h?1 for the soil samples, which is in good agreement with the world wide average value (70 nGy h?1). Mean value of absorbed dose rate from rock samples was found as 70.01 nGy h?1. Mean values of the annual effective dose is also lower than the values reported for different other countries of the world.  相似文献

A radioanalytical procedure has been developed for the determination of99Tc in environmental samples. The procedure consists of precipitation, solvent extraction, ion exchange, electrodeposition and radiation measurement. Rhenium was used as a non-isotopic carrier of99Tc. On the basis of 3σ counting error, the detection limits were 4.9·10?5 Bq/l, 7.4·10?3 Bq/kg wet and 7.4·10?2 Bq/kg dry for water, biota and soil samples, respectively. Sea water, seaweeds (brown algae) and soils were collected to evaluate the present levels of99Tc in Japan. The level of99Tc in sea water was ca. 1·10?4 Bq/l around Japan. Among the seaweeds (brown algae), Ishige okamurai showed the highest concentration of 5.8·10?2 Bq/kg wet tissue and the highest concentration factor of 583. The level of99Tc in the organic rich surface soil was ca. 1 Bq/kg dry soil in Fukuoka.  相似文献

In order to understand the mobility of uranium it is very important to know about its sorption kinetics and the thermodynamics behind the sorption process on soil. In the present study the sorption kinetics of uranium was studied in soil and the influence parameters to the sorption process, such as initial uranium concentration, pH, contact time and temperature were investigated. Distribution coefficient of uranium on soil was measured by laboratory batch method. Experimental isotherms evaluated from the distribution coefficients were fit to Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin?CRadushkevich (D?CR) models. The sorption energy for uranium from the D?CR adsorption isotherm was calculated to be 7.07?kJ?mol?1.The values of ??H and ??S were calculated to be 37.33?kJ?mol?1 and 162?J?K?1?mol?1, respectively. ??G at 30?°C was estimated to be ?11.76?kJ?mol?1. From sorption kinetics of uranium the reaction rate was calculated to be 1.6?×?10?3?min?1.  相似文献

The activity concentration of primordial radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th, and 40K in soil samples of Thirthahalli taluk were measured systematically by using a low background HPGe detector coupled to 16 K MCA. The measured activity concentration of 226Ra lies between 5.1?±?0.2 and 79.5?±?1.7 Bq kg?1with an average activity of 25.99 Bq kg?1, 232Th ranges from 5.1?±?0.3 to 95.3?±?2.2 Bq kg?1with an average activity of 33.60 Bq kg?1and that of 40K varies from 18.3?±?1.5 to 833.4?±?17.5 Bq kg?1with an average activity of 175.52 Bq kg?1. Higher concentration of these radionuclides were found in the soil samples where the regional geology is granites. The consequential gamma dose and the corresponding radiation hazard was also estimated and is found to be within the permissible limits. The possible radiological impact on the public was also determined and these results are presented in this paper.  相似文献

Samples of natural and manufactures building materials collected around Lusaka have been analyzed for natural radionuclides using -spectrometry. A simple comparison of the specific radioactivities of primordial radionuclides in these materials to the world averages for soil (25 Bq kg–1 238U, 25 Bg kg–1 232Th, 370 Bq kg–1 40K and 89 Bq kg–1 Raeq) shows that, of the nine types of samples analyzed, only burnt clay bricks (for238U,232Th and40K), cement roofing tiles (for238U), building and river sands (for232Th and40K) have greater activities than does soil. Radiological evaluation of specific radioactivities in these materials indicates that all materials meet the external -ray dose limitation of 1.5 mSv y–1, that is, all samples have a radium equivalent activity of less than 370 Bq kg–1.  相似文献

The activity of the terrestrial primordial radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th and 40K are measured for Bidar soil samples. The collected soil samples are analyzed using HPGe detector based on high resolution gamma spectrometric system. The activity of the three radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th and 40K were found to be in the range of BDL–47.68, 7.65–59.08 and BDL–260.65 Bq kg?1 respectively. The mean gamma absorbed dose rate in air above 1 m from ground is estimated to be 34.47 nGy h?1. Annual effective dose equivalent and the radium equivalent activity were within the limits in the present study and it is found that the activity of the radionuclides are comparable with the worldwide literature values. Also the external hazard indices for the soil samples of Bidar district were within the limit of unity.  相似文献

In this work, a simple method for electroanalytical determination of 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) hormone in natural waters was developed using a boron-doped diamond electrode (BDD). The analyses were performed using square wave voltammetry and the parameters were optimized. The results showed a well-defined irreversible oxidation peak (BR buffer 0.1 mol L?1, pH 8.0) at +0.65 V (vs. Ag/AgCl). The voltammetric results showed also that the oxidation process is controlled by adsorption of species and indicated that there are two electrons involved. The obtained analytical curves for 17α-ethinylestradiol presented good linearity in the concentration range 9.9?×?10?7 to 5.2?×?10?6 mol L?1 in utlrapure water and 7.9?×?10?7 to 5.2?×?10?6 mol L?1 in natural water samples (supply dam). Detection limits (DL) obtained were between 2.4?×?10?7 and 7.5?×?10?7 mol L?1 and quantification limits (QL) between 7.9?×?10?7 and 2.5?×?10?6 mol L?1. The recovery experiments showed values between 86 and 114 % for spiked samples thus indicating the applicability of the electroanalytical methodology to quantify 17α-ethinylestradiol directly in natural water of supply Dam (Billings Dam in Diadema-SP. Brazil), without any preconcentration or derivatization.  相似文献

This paper reports the use of an adsorptive voltammetric technique for Pb(II) determination using cupferron as a selective complexing agent. After accumulation of the complex onto a hanging mercury drop electrode, the electrode potential was scanned with differential pulse modulation and the reduction current of lead was observed at about??0.5?V. Under optimum conditions (5?×?10?4?mol?L?1 cupferron concentration, 0.1?mol?L?1 acetate buffer (pH 5.5), adsorption at??50?mV for 30?s) the detection limit was 5.1?×?10?10?mol?L?1. The relative standard deviation of five measurements for low lead concentration was 3.1%. The accuracy of the method was tested by analysing certified reference material (SPS-WW1 Waste Water). Finally, the method was successfully applied to the determination of Pb(II) in river water samples without any pretreatments.  相似文献

The system manganese(VII)-3,7-bis(dimethylamino)-phenothiazin-5-ium chloride (MB)-water-1,2-dichloroethane has been studied using UV-spectrophotometry. The molar absorptivity of the complex is (3.86 ± 0.06) × 104 L mol?1 cm?1 at 290 nm and the system obeys Beer??s law in the range 0.1?C0.99 ??g mL?1 Mn(VII). The detection limit (DL) and quantitation limit (QL) of Mn(VII) determination were found to be 0.0146 and 0.049 ??g mL?1, respectively. The composition of the complex is established as MB: MnO 4 ? = 1: 1. Extraction investigations of the system discussed were carried out. The characteristic values for the extraction equilibrium and the equilibrium in the aqueous phase was determined: extraction constant Kex = (1.12 ± 0.05) × 105, distribution constant KD = 75.61 ± 0.1 and association constant ?? = (1.48 ± 0.08) × 103. A new method has been developed for the microdetermination of manganese(VII) in plants and steels.  相似文献

The destructive distiliation of rubber tire samples was studied by thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry, combustion calorimetry, and mass spectroscopy. The decomposition reaction was found to be exothermic and produced a mass loss of sixty-five percent. The products from the distillation process were a solid residue with a heating value of about ?3 × 107 J kg?1. a liquid with a heating value of about ?4 × 107 J kg?1, and a combustible gas of undetermined heating value. The gas evolution curves which were obtained indicate that a variety of organic materials are evolved simultaneously during decomposition of the rubber polymer.  相似文献

The present work aims to measure and estimate radioactivity and hazardous radiation indices of the soil. Soil samples were collected from various locations in the Visakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh, India. The measurement of specific activity of 226Ra, 232Th, and 40K radionuclides is carried out with the help of HP-Ge based gamma spectrometer system. Activity concentration of radionuclides in the samples 226Ra, 232Th and 40K ranged from 20 ± 2 to 91 ± 2 Bq.kg-1, 45 ± 3 to 365 ± 3 Bq.kg-1, and 400 ± 9 to 607 ± 8 Bq.kg-1, and the respective mean values are 53.36 Bq.kg-1, 203.74 Bq.kg-1 and 479.19 Bq.kg-1. The measured mean value of the absorbed dose rate is 171.41 nGy.h-1, which was beyond the worldwide mean outdoor value of 60 nGy.h-1. Thus, the annual effective dose estimated from the above value is 1.04 mSv.y-1. The correlation was done among the measured 226Ra, 232Th, and 40K activity concentrations. The estimated radium equivalent dose is 381.60Bq.kg-1. The estimated health hazard index and annual effective dose rates of dwellers of Visakhapatnam were studied and compared to Indian average values. The study will help to generate the baseline data for assessing hazard indices to the public and geological mapping of natural radiation in India.  相似文献

Natural radioactivity measurements and assessment of radiological hazards in soil and sand samples obtained from Penang, Malaysia were carried out using the Exploranium GR-135 Plus “Identifier” Radioisotope Identification Device and high-resolution High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector system. The activity concentrations of 238U, 226Ra, 232Th, and 40K were found to be 184±11, 396±22, 165±14, and 835±28 Bq kg?1 respectively, and the external gamma dose rate is 315±44 nGy h?1 for soil samples. For sand samples, the activity concentrations of 238U, 226Ra, 232Th and 40K were 31±8, 62±16, 36±6, and 369±17 Bq kg?1, respectively, and the external gamma dose rate is 66±12 nGy h?1. To assess the radiological hazard of radioactivity present in the samples, the radium equivalent activity, annual effective dose, annual gonadal dose equivalent, external hazard, and internal indices were calculated. The Raeq values of soil samples were higher than the limit of 370 Bq kg?1, which is equivalent to a gamma dose of 1.5 mSv yr?1, whereas the Raeq for sand samples was lower than 370 Bq kg?1. The calculated concentrations by HPGe spectroscopy were compared with the measured concentrations detected by a GR-135 spectrometer. The calculated and measured gamma dose rates had an ideal correlation coefficient R of 0.72. The gamma dose rates in Penang increased with the average annual age-standardized rates (ASR) for all cancers between 1994 and 2010. The effects of the pH value of soil and sand samples on natural radionuclides concentrations were investigated. The high concentration of 226Ra/238U ratio disequilibrium (226Ra/238U of 1.76–2.33) was observed in the sampling sites. Moreover, a portable continuous radon monitor (SNC, model 1029, Sun Nuclear Corporation) was used to measure the radon concentration of the soil surface. The radon concentrations were found to vary from 7 to 50 Bq m?3. A positive correlation was observed between the radon and radium concentrations in samples measured by the SNC continuous radon monitor and HPGe detector.  相似文献

Measurements have been made of radon (222Rn), release from diverse quaternary samples collected from different sediment deposits in the Errachidia and Beni-Mellal areas (Morocco). The radon diffusion coefficient as one of some important parameters of radon transport in the soil has been measured using solid state nuclear track detectors (SSNTD). Radon -activity, uranium content and radon exhalation rate have been determined in the studied samples. Uranium concentrations were found to vary from 0.14 to 9.52 ppm whereas the radon exhalation rate varied from 0.003 to 0.145 Bq.m-2.h-1. A positive correlation has been found between radon exhalation rate and uranium content in the studied samples. The average radon diffusion coefficients were found to vary from (1.26±0.09).10-6 m2.s-1 to (4.3±0.36).10-6 m2.s-1. Furthermore, the correlation between 222Rn diffusion coefficient and porosity are also discussed.  相似文献

Novel films consisting of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were fabricated by means of chemical vapor deposition with decomposition of either acetonitrile (ACN) or benzene (BZ) using ferrocene as catalyst. The electrochemical responses of MWCNT-based films towards the ferrocyanide/ferricyanide, [Fe(CN)6]3?/4? redox couple were probed by means of cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy at 25.0?±?0.5?°C. Both MWCNT-based films exhibit Nernstian response towards [Fe(CN)6]3?/4? with some slight kinetic differences. Namely, heterogeneous electron transfer rate constants lying in ranges of 2.69?×?10?2?C1.7?×?10?3 and 9.0?×?10?3?C2.6?×?10?3?cm·s?1 were obtained at v?=?0.05?V·s?1 for MWCNTACN and MWCNTBZ, respectively. The detection limit of MWCNTACN, estimated to be about 4.70?×?10?7?mol·L?1 at v?=?0.05?V·s?1, tends to become slightly poorer with the increase of the scan rate, namely at v?=?0.10?V·s?1 the detection limit of 1.70?×?10?6?mol·L?1 was determined. Slightly poorer response ability was exhibited by MWCNTBZ; specifically the detection limits of 1.57?×?10?6 and 4.35?×?10?6?mol·L?1 were determined at v?=?0.05 and v?=?0.10?V·s?1, respectively. The sensitivities of MWCNTACN and MWCNTBZ towards [Fe(CN)6]3?/4? were determined as 1.60?×?10?7 and 1.51?×?10?7?A·L·mol?1·cm?2, respectively. The excellent electrochemical performance of MWCNTACN is attributed to the presence of incorporated nitrogen in the nanotube??s structure.  相似文献
