Sensitivity analysis for variational inequalities
Sensitivity analysis results for variational inequalities are presented which give conditions for existence and equations for calculating the derivatives of solution variables with respect to perturbation parameters. The perturbations are of both the variational inequality function and the feasible region. Results for the special case of nonlinear complementarity are also presented. A numerical example demonstrates the results for variational inequalities. The author is indebted to A. V. Fiacco for many valuable suggestions and comments. We give a brief overview of important results in several areas of sensitivity and stability analysis for nonlinear programming, focusing initially on qualitative characterizations (e.g., continuity, differentiability and convexity) of the optimal value function. Subsequent results concern quantitative measures, in particular optimal value and solution point parameter derivative calculations, algorithmic approximations, and bounds. Our treatment is far from exhaustive and concentrates on results that hold for smooth well-structured problems.Research supported by National Science Foundation Grant ECS-86-19859 and Grant N00014-89-J-1537 Office of Naval Research.

The main objective of this paper is to study reduction rate of 2D DEM (digital elevation model) data profile after data reduction by the Douglas–Peucker (DP) linear simplification method and by fractal interpolation to show original terrain reconstruction. In this paper, two-dimensional data of measured geographic profiles are taken as the study object, by using the DP method and the improved Douglas–Peucker (IDP) method to reduce data. Its aim is to retain spatial linear characteristics and variations, then take reduced data points as basic points and use the random fractal interpolation approach to add more data points up to the same as the original data points, in order to reconstruct the terrain, and compare the experimental data with the random point extraction method addressed in related literature. This paper uses tolerance calibration to generate different reduction rates and utilizes four types of evaluation factors, statistical measurement, image measurement, spectral analysis and elevation cumulative probability distribution graph, to make a quantitative analysis of profile variation. The study result indicates that real profile elevation data, manipulated with varied reduction approaches, then reconstructed by means of fractal interpolation can produce data points with a higher resolution than those originally observed, thereby the reconstructed profile gets more natural and real details.

One of the topics of interest in data envelopment analysis (DEA) is sensitivity and stability and stability analysis of the specific decision making unit (DMU), which is under evaluation. In DEA, efficient DMUs are of primary importance as they define the efficient frontier. In this paper, we develop a new sensitivity analysis approach for the CCR, BCC and Additive models, when variations in the data are considered for a specific efficient DMU and the data for the remaining DMUs are assumed fixed.

We develop the general framework of sensitivity analysis for equilibrium problems in the setting of vector topological normed space. Our approach does not make any recourse to geometrical properties and the obtained result can be viewed as an extension and generalization of the well-known results (on variational inequalities) in the literature. Even though we have worked under arbitrary constraints Kλ with Hölder-property—that have been decisive in our treatment—we have obtained, in a similar spirit of Domokos [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 230 (1999) 382-389], the best lower bound for the continuity modulus despite of the properties of the boundary of Kλ.

In this paper, we study simple necessary and sufficient conditions for the stability of generalized linear-quadratic programs under perturbations of the data. The concept of generalized linear-quadratic problem was introduced by Rockafellar and Wets and consists of solving saddle points of a linear-quadratic convex concave functionJ onU×V, whereU andV are polyhedral convex sets in n and m . This paper also establishes results on the closedness and the uniform boundedness of the saddle-point solution sets. These properties are then used to obtain results on the continuity and the directional derivative of the perturbed saddle value. The research of the first author was supported by the CEE, Grant No. CI1-CT92-0046.

Sensitivity analysis framework for variational inequalities
In this paper a sensitivity analysis framework is developed for variational inequalities. The perturbed solution to a parametric variational inequality problem is shown to be continuous and directionally differentiable under appropriate second order and regularity assumptions. Moreover, this solution is once continuously differentiable if strict complementarity also holds.

This paper presents a computational framework for the optimization and sensitivity analysis of a process whose state depends upon several parameter functions. Assuming that the process is described by a system of quasilinear, parabolic, partial differential equations, we show how determining the problem parameters so as to improve an associated objective functional is directly related to knowing the state function sensitivities. An expression for the gradient of the objective functional in terms of the solutions of an adjoint system enables one to bypass the calculation of state function sensitivities. These concepts are illustrated for a simple model of cooperative processes in chemical kinetics. Since sensitivity analysis and model optimization are important tools for investigating parameter dependence and validating mathematical models, research developments in such diverse fields as optimal design theory, chemical kinetics, and parameter identification are important motivations for this paper. This author would like to gratefully acknowledge Dr. M. As a useful management and decision tool, data envelopment analysis (DEA) has become a pop area of research. One of the topics of interests in DEA is sensitivity and stability analysis of decision making units (DMUs). Due to the uncertainty of the data in real life, this paper will give some DEA models in fuzzy environment. It is followed by a series analysis of sensitivity and stability for all DMUs. Finally a numerical example will be presented to give an illustration of the sensitivity and stability analysis.

Summary  In the present paper empirical influence functions (EIFs) are derived for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions in functional principal component analysis in both cases where the smoothing parameter is fixed and unfixed. Based on the derived influence functions a sensitivity analysis procedure is proposed for detecting jointly as well as singly influential observations. A numerical example is given to show the usefulness of the proposed procedure. In dealing with the influence on the eigenfunctions two different kinds of influence statistics are introduced. One is based on the EIF for the coefficient vectors of the basis function expansion, and the other is based on the sampled vectors of the functional EIF. Under a certain condition it can be proved both kinds of statistics provide essentially equivalent results.

Sensitivity analysis in vector optimization
For a vector optimization problem that depends on a parameter vector, the sensitivity analysis of perturbation, proper perturbation, and weak perturbation maps is dealth with. Each of the perturbation maps is defined as a set-valued map which associates to each parameter value the set of all minimal, properly minimal, and weakly minimal points of the perturbed feasible set in the objective space with respect to a fixed ordering cone. Using contingent cones in a finite-dimensional Euclidean space, we investigate the relationship between the contingent derivatives of the three types of perturbation maps and three types of minimal point sets for the contingent derivative of the feasible-set map in the objective space. These results provide quantitative informations on the behavior of the perturbation maps. The authors would like to thank the referees for their valuable comments and suggestions.

A unified approach to computing first, second, or higher-order derivatives of any of the primal and dual variables or multipliers of a geometric programming problem, with respect to any of the problem parameters (term coefficients, exponents, and constraint right-hand sides) is presented. Conditions under which the sensitivity equations possess a unique solution are developed, and ranging results are also derived. The analysis for approximating second and higher-order sensitivity generalizes to any sufficiently smooth nonlinear program.

Sensitivity analysis in multiobjective optimization
Sensitivity analysis in multiobjective optimization is dealt with in this paper. Given a family of parametrized multiobjective optimization problems, the perturbation map is defined as the set-valued map which associates to each parameter value the set of minimal points of the perturbed feasible set in the objective space with respect to a fixed ordering convex cone. The behavior of the perturbation map is analyzed quantitatively by using the concept of contingent derivatives for set-valued maps. Particularly, it is shown that the sensitivity is closely related to the Lagrange multipliers in multiobjective programming. This research was made while the author stayed at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, Laxenburg, Austria. The author would like to thank an anonymous referee for his helpful suggestions; particularly, he pointed out that Proposition 2.2 and Theorem 2.1 are valid also in infinite-dimensional spaces.

The minimum time transfer of a satellite around the Earth is studied. In order to deal numerically with low thrusts, a new method is introduced: Based on a so-called noncontrollability function, the technique treats the ha1 time as a parameter. The properties of the method arc studied by means of an infinite dimensional sensitivity analysis. The numerical results obtained by this approach for very low thrusts are given  相似文献

In this paper, we develop sensitivity ranges for parameters used in the ELECTRE I multicriteria decision method. Parameters studied include criteria weights as well as significance thresholds. For these parameters, intervals are determined in which parameter changes will not affect the set of non-outranked alternatives. The approach developed is illustrated by a numerical example and possible applications are discussed.
