A molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) able to selectively bind triclosan (TCS) and triclocarban (TCC), commonly used antibacterial agents in many consumer products, was prepared using noncovalent molecular imprinting methods. The prepared MIP was evaluated as a selective sorbent in SPE for sample cleanup before HPLC-UV analysis of TCS and TCC in soil and biosolid samples. The MIP was also compared with commercially available C18 SPE sorbent. The molecularly imprinted SPE (MISPE) developed in this study was more efficient than C18 SPE for the cleanup of extracts of soil and biosolid samples prior to the analysis of TCC and TCS using HPLC-UV. The LOQ values for both TCC and TCS in the soil samples were determined to be 40 microg/kg; in the biosolid samples, the LOQ values were 100 and 300 microg/kg for TCC and TCS, respectively. Compared to C18 SPE, using MISPE for sample cleanup may result in a significant reduction of analytical cost, because one MIP can be reused up to 35 times and HPLC-UV instead of HPLC/MS can be used for instrumental analysis following sample cleanup by MISPE.  相似文献

Two molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have been synthesised for the selective extraction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) from water samples. One polymer was synthesised via a non-covalent approach and the other via a semi-covalent approach. The selectivity of the polymers for 4-NP was evaluated when these polymers were applied in on-line solid-phase extraction (MISPE) coupled to reversed-phase HPLC. The MISPE conditions for both MIPs were optimised and a clean-up step was included to eliminate non-specific interactions. Differences between the two MIPs were observed with the non-covalent MIP being the more selective of the two, whereas the recoveries were slightly higher for the semi-covalent MIP. The performance of the imprinted polymers in the MISPE of real water samples was also evaluated.  相似文献

The use of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) prepared by ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) for bisphenol A (BPA) was reported in this article. The resulting MIPs have high imprinting and adsorption capacities, and can be used for separation and determination of BPA in environmental water samples. The successful application of ROMP in the molecular imprinting field is described here. For the first time, two cross-linkers (dicyclopentadiene and 2,5-norbornadiene) and two Grubbs catalysts (first and second generation) were investigated to compare their effects on the binding performance of MIPs. The ROMP technique is able to create the imprinted polymers within 1 h under mild conditions. Furthermore, it can provide MIPs with obvious imprinting effects towards the template, very fast template rebinding kinetics, high binding capacity and appreciable selectivity over structurally related compounds. The adsorption process for MIPs in this study can be completed within 45 min, which is much faster than that of bulk MIPs synthesized by traditional free-radical polymerization. The resulting imprinting polymer was evaluated for its use as a sorbent support in an off-line solid-phase extraction approach to recover BPA from diluted aqueous samples. The optimized extraction protocol resulted in a reliable MISPE method suitable for selective extraction and preconcentration of BPA from tap water, human urine and liquid milk samples. This article demonstrates the practical feasibility of the MIPs prepared via ROMP as solid-phase extraction materials.  相似文献

As shown in the past years, SPE based on molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) may provide significant enhancement of selectivity in sample preparation and analyte preconcentration. The objective of this work was the fabrication of MIPs for the specific adsorption of rutin and quercetin. The two flavonoids were used as the template molecules for the preparation of MIP phases in a self-assembly (noncovalent) approach. The produced MIPs were validated with regard to the imprinting efficiency as media for LC and SPE. The retention behavior of several flavonoid compounds was studied using as stationary phases imprinted, control nonimprinted polymers, and commercial silica-based materials. MIPs were applied as materials for the selective SPE and preconcentration of the flavonoids from white and red wine, orange juice, and tea. The collected fractions were analyzed by high-pressure LC. MIP-SPE facilitated specific analyte isolation and effective sample clean-up. The results show that molecularly imprinted SPE can be a useful tool for the simple, selective, and cost-effective pretreatment of samples containing natural antioxidants.  相似文献

Three polymers have been synthesised using 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) as the template, following different protocols (non-covalent and semi-covalent) and using different functional co-monomers, 4-vinylpyridine (4-VP) and methacrylic acid (MAA). The polymers were evaluated to check their selectivity as molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) in solid-phase extraction (SPE) coupled on-line to liquid chromatography. The solid-phase extraction procedure using MIPs (MISPE), including the clean-up step to remove any interferences, was optimised. The 4-VP non-covalent polymer was the only one which showed a clear imprint effect. This MIP also showed cross-reactivity for the 4-chloro-substituted phenols and for 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) from a mixture containing the 11 priority EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) phenolic compounds and 4-chlorophenol. The MIP was applied to selectively extract the 4-chloro-substituted compounds and 4-NP from river water samples.  相似文献

A broad selective molecularly imprinted polymers-based solid phase extraction (MISPE) for levonorgestrel (LNG) from water samples was developed. Using LNG as a template molecule, acrylamide (AA) as functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as linking agent and bulk polymerisation as a synthetic method, the molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were synthesised and characterised. The MIPs displayed a high specific rebinding for LNG with the imprinting factor of 3.71. The Scatchard analysis showed that there was at least one class of binding site for LNG formed in the MIPs with the dissociation constant of 8.046?µg?mL?1. The results of selectivity testing indicated that the MIPs also exhibited high cross-reactivity with structurally related compounds (estrone, methylprednisolone and ethinyl estradiol), but no recognition with non-structurally related compound (indomethacin), suggesting that the MIPs could be used as a broad recognition absorbent. MISPE column was prepared by packing MIPs particles into a common SPE cartridge. The MISPE extraction conditions including loading, washing and eluting solutions were carefully optimised. Water samples spiked with LNG were extracted by MISPE column and detected by high-performance liquid chromatography. The recoveries were found to be 79.97?~?132.79% with relative standard deviations (RSD) of 1.92?~?10.43%, indicating the feasibility of the prepared MIPs for LNG extraction.  相似文献

In this paper we describe, for the first time, a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for the antibiotic amoxicillin (AMX), synthesised by a noncovalent molecular imprinting approach and used to extract AMX selectively from urine samples. The MIP was applied as a molecularly selective sorbent in molecularly imprinted SPE (MISPE) in an off-line mode, where it showed useful cross-selectivity for a structurally related antibiotic, cephalexin (CPX). By using a MISPE protocol, the MIP was able to selectively extract both AMX and CFX from 5 mL of water spiked with 10 mg/L with recoveries of 75 and 78% for AMX and CFX, respectively. When applied to real samples (urine) at clinically relevant concentrations, recoveries from 2 mL of human urine spiked with 20 mg/L decreased slightly to 65 and 63% for AMX and CFX, respectively. To demonstrate further the selectivity of the MIP obtained, a comparison with commercially available SPE cartridges was performed. Improvements in the retention of both AMX and CFX on the MIP were obtained relative to the commercially available cartridges, and the MISPE extracts were considerably cleaner, due to molecularly selective analyte binding by the MIP.  相似文献

A selective molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE) for indomethacin (IDM) from water samples was developed. Using IDM as template molecule, acrylamide (AM) or methacrylic acid (MAA) as functional monomer, ethylene dimethacrylate (EDMA) as crosslinker, and bulk or suspension polymerization as the synthetic method, three molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were synthesized and characterized with a rebinding experiment. It was found that the MIP of AM-EDMA produced by bulk polymerization showed the highest binding capacity for IDM, and so it was chosen for subsequent experiments, such as those testing the selectivity and recognition binding sites. Scatchard analysis revealed that at least two kinds of binding sites formed in the MIP, with the dissociation constants of 7.8 μmol L−1 and 127.2 μmol L−1, respectively. Besides IDM, three structurally related compounds — acemetacin, oxaprozin and ibuprofen — were employed for selectivity tests. It was observed that the MIP exhibited the highest selective rebinding to IDM. Accordingly, the MIP was used as a solid-phase extraction sorbent for the extraction and enrichment of IDM in water samples. The extraction conditions of the MISPE column for IDM were optimized to be: chloroform or water as loading solvent, chloroform with 20% acetonitrile as washing solution, and methanol as eluting solvent. Water samples with or without spiking were extracted by the MISPE column and analyzed by HPLC. No detectable IDM was observed in tap water and the content of IDM in a river water sample was found to be 1.8 ng mL−1. The extraction efficiencies of the MISPE column for IDM in spiked tap and river water were acceptable (87.2% and 83.5%, respectively), demonstrating the feasibility of the prepared MIP for IDM extraction. A bisphenol A (BPA) molecularly imprinted polymer, the composition of which was optimised using a chemometric approach, has been applied to the selective preconcentration of the template from aqueous samples. The selectivity of the polymer toward BPA and related compounds was evaluated chromatographically. The BPA-imprinted polymer was packed in a column and used for continuous on-column solid-phase extraction (MISPE) of aqueous samples followed by subsequent analysis by HPLC with fluorescence detection of the eluted fractions. The composition of the washing solvent applied in the MISPE procedure was optimised to favour the specific interactions of the MIP with BPA and to remove the non-selectively bound matrix components. The MISPE method has proven to be effective for selective preconcentration of BPA in aqueous samples (recoveries >84% obtained in the eluate for 10–100 mL sample volumes) enabling detection and quantification limits of 1.0 and 3.3 ng mL–1, respectively (based on 25 mL sample size). Analytical recoveries were between 92 and 101% for river water samples spiked with known amounts of BPA (30, 60, and 80 ng mL–1); relative standard deviations (RSD) were lower than 5.0%.  相似文献

A novel multi-templates molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP), using acidic pharmaceuticals mixture (ibuprofen (IBP), naproxen (NPX), ketoprofen (KEP), diclofenac (DFC), and clofibric acid (CA)) as the template, was prepared as solid-phase extraction (SPE) material for the quantitative enrichment of acidic pharmaceuticals in environmental samples and off-line coupled with liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). Washing solvent was optimized in terms of kind and volume for removing the matrix constituents nonspecifically adsorbed on the MIP. When 1 L of water sample spiked at 1 μg/L was loaded onto the cartridge, the binding capacity of the MIP cartridge were 48.7 μg/g for KEP, 60.7 μg/g for NPX, 52 μg/g for CA, 61.3 μg/g for DFC and 60.7 μg/g for IBP, respectively, which are higher than those of the commercial single template MIP in organic medium (e.g. toluene) reported in the literature. Recoveries of the five acidic pharmaceuticals extracted from 1 L of real water samples such as lake water and wastewater spiked at 1 μg/L were more than 95%. The recoveries of acidic pharmaceuticals extracted from 10-g sediment sample spiked at the 10 ng/g level were in the range of 77.4–90.6%. To demonstrate the potential of the MIP obtained, a comparison with commercial C18 SPE cartridge was performed. Molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE) cartridge showed higher recoveries than commercial C18 SPE cartridge for acidic pharmaceuticals. These results showed the suitability of the MISPE method for the selective extraction of a group of structurally related compounds such as acidic pharmaceuticals.  相似文献

Two different molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were prepared by precipitation polymerization using linuron or isoproturon (phenylurea herbicides) as templates and trifluormethacrylic acid as functional monomer. These materials were used as selective sorbents in the development of molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE) procedures for the determination of several phenylurea herbicides (fenuron, metoxuron, chlortoluron, isoproturon, metobromuron, and linuron) in plant samples extracts. The MISPE procedures were fully optimized and applied to the clean up of selected phenylurea herbicides in carrot, potato, corn, and pea sample extracts and finally determined by HPLC-UV at 244 nm. Although a high degree of clean up was obtained, a decrease of the MIP recognition capabilities was observed in subsequent runs. Thus, a previous clean up protocol based on the use of a non-imprinted polymer was used to prevent the loss of MIP performance and to ease the removal of interferences. Following this procedure, namely two-step MISPE, matrix compounds were almost completely removed by the non-imprinted polymer retaining the ability of MIPs to selectively rebind target analytes unaltered. The developed MISPE procedures allowed the screening of phenylurea herbicides in plant samples at concentration levels required by established European maximum residue limits.  相似文献

Surface modified molecularly imprinted polymers (SM-MIPs) for 17beta-estradiol (E2), utilizing 6-ketoecradiol as a pseudo template were prepared. MIPs for E2 were synthesized using 4-vinyl pyridine and ethylene dimethacrylate as a functional monomer and cross-linking agent, respectively. MIPs selectively retained E2 and provided excellent chromatographic resolution from interfering compounds inherent in river water sample matrices. Therefore, freshly prepared MIPs were applied to quantitative mass spectrometric (negative electrospray ionization mode) detection of low levels of E2 in river water sample. In order to pre-concentrate the target compound for HPLC analysis, column switching was coupled with a pretreatment column packed with the MIPs. The repeatability of actual determinations of river water sample, in which background E2 was not detected, spiked with 50 ng/L of E2 was 2.2% RSD with a detection limit and qualification limit of 1.8 and 5.4 ng/L, respectively. Surface modification of MIP particlefs packed in the pretreatment column provided selective affinity and on-line concentration of low levels of E2 while simultaneously eliminating sample matrix interference, resulting in a significant increase in sensitivity and reproducibility for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis of E2 in river water sample.  相似文献

Coumarin, 7-hydroxycoumarin and dicoumarol molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) were synthesized by bulk polymerization. Methacrylic acid and 4-vinylpyridine were tested as functional monomers and methanol, ethanol, acetonitrile, toluene and chloroform were tested as porogens. The binding capabilities of the imprinted polymers were assessed by equilibrium binding analysis. Highest binding capacity was obtained for MIP prepared for the template 7-hydroxycoumarin synthesized in methacrylic acid as functional monomer, chloroform as porogen and methanol/water as analyte solvent. Scanning electron microscopy analysis documented its appropriate morphology. ATR-FTIR spectra confirmed successful polymerization of MIP. Coumarin structural analogues were employed to evaluate the polymer selectivity and it was found that polymer prepared for 7-hydroxycoumarin was selective for its template molecule. Kinetic studies showed relatively fast adsorption of analytes to MIPs (1 h). Rebinding properties of MIPs were evaluated by adsorption isotherms. The calculated data fitted well with experimental data showing that Freundlich isotherm is suitable for modelling the adsorption of tested coumarins on prepared MIPs. Applicability of polymer prepared for 7-hydroxycoumarin was tested for the selective extraction of coumarins from the sample of chicory.  相似文献

Six molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) of erythromycin (ERY) were prepared by noncovalent bulk polymerization using methacrylic acid (MAA) as the functional monomer. On the basis of binding analysis, the MIPs with 1:2 optimum ratio of template to MAA were selected for subsequent scanning electron microscopy and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller analyses, which indicated that the MIPs had more convergent porous structures than the nonimprinted polymers. The equilibrium binding experiments showed that the binding sites of MIPs were heterogeneous, with two dissociation constants of 0.005 and 0.63 mg mL−1, respectively. Furthermore, the performance of the MIPs as solid-phase extraction (SPE) sorbents was evaluated, and the selectivity analysis showed that the MIPs could recognize ERY with moderate cross-reactivity for other macrolides. The overall investigation of molecularly imprinted SPE for cleanup and enrichment of the ERY in pig muscle and tap water confirmed the feasibility of utilizing the MIPs obtained as specific SPE sorbents for ERY extraction in real samples. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were prepared by precipitation polymerization using tebuconazole (TBZ) as a template. Frontal chromatography and selectivity experiments were used to determine the binding capabilities and binding specificities of different MIPs. The polymer that had the highest binding selectivity and capability was used as the solid-phase extraction (SPE) sorbent for the direct extraction of TBZ from different biological and environmental samples (cabbage, pannage, shrimp, orange juice and tap water). The extraction protocol was optimized and the optimum conditions were: conditioning with 5 mL methanol:acetic acid (9:1), 5 mL methanol and 5 mL water respectively, loading with 5 mL aqueous samples, washing with 1.2 mL acetonitrile (ACN):phosphate buffer (5:5, pH3), and eluting with 3 mL methanol. The MIPs were able to selectively recognize, effectively trap and preconcentrate TBZ over a concentration range of 0.5–15 μmol/L. The intraday and interday RSDs were less than 9.7% and 8.6%, respectively. The limit of quantification was 0.1 μmol/L. Under optimum conditions, the MISPE recoveries of spiked cabbage, pannage, shrimp, orange juice and tap water were 62.3%, 75.8%, 71.6%, 89% and 93.9%, respectively. MISPE gave better HPLC separation efficiencies and higher recoveries than C18 SPE and strong cation exchange (SCX) SPE. Figure HPLC analysis of spiked pannage after MISPE (A) and after C18 SPE (B). To assess the potential risks associated with the environmental exposure of β-lactam antibiotics (BLAs), the monitoring of the occurrence, distribution, and fate of these emerging contaminants in the environment is required. Herein, we demonstrate a molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE) method for selective and reliable screening of trace BLAs in river and tap water. By developing a low-temperature photopolymerization, highly selective molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for five BLAs (penicillin G, amoxicillin, ampicillin, nafcillin and mezlocillin) were synthesized. Nafcillin was chosen as a pseudo template to make the MIP sorbent (Nafc-MIP), which was used in pseudo-template MISPE for preconcentration of the other four BLAs from river and tap water. The application of pseudo-template MISPE overcomes the template bleeding, which significantly elevates the sample background and restricts the application of MIP for detection of the target BLA below 2 μg/L. The average recoveries of BLAs are in the range of 60–90% when Nafc-MIP was adopted as the selective MISPE sorbent. The developed method was validated, and applied to the screening of trace β-lactam antibiotics in river and tap water. The linearity of the calibration curve for each BLA was observed over the range of 0.1–20 μg/L (r > 0.998). The β-lactam antibiotics were found within the range of 0–9.56 μg/L in river water at the downstream of antibiotics manufacturers, and none were detected in the tap water.  相似文献

An analytical methodology for the analysis of four polar organophophorus pesticides (monocrotophos, mevinphos, phosphamidon, omethoate) in water and soil samples incorporating a molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE) process using a monocrotophos-imprinted polymer was developed. Binding study demonstrated that the polymer showed excellent affinity and high selectivity to monocrotophos. The MISPE procedure including the clean-up step to remove any interferences was optimized. The accuracy and selectivity of the MISPE process developed were verified using a non-imprinted (blank) polymer and a classical ENVI-18 cartridge as the SPE matrix during control experiments. The use of MISPE improved the accuracy and precision of the GC method and lowered the limit of detection. The recoveries of four polar organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) extracted from 1 L of river water at a 100 ng/L spike level were in the range of 77.5-99.1%. The recoveries of organophosphorus pesticides extracted from a 5-g soil sample at the 100 microg/kg level were in the range of 79.3-93.5%. The limit of detection varied from 10 to 32 ng/L in water and from 12 to 34 microg/kg in soil samples. The molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) enabled the selective extraction of four organophosphorus pesticides successfully from water and soil samples, demonstrating the potential of molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction for rapid, selective, and cost-effective sample pretreatment.  相似文献

Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are synthetic polymers designed to selectively extract target analytes from complex matrices (including biological matrices). The literature shows that MIPs have a degree of cross-selectivity from analytes within the same class of compounds. A commercially available MIP for tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNAs) is designed to be class selective for four TSNA compounds. This study sought to characterize the extent of cross-selectivity of the TSNA MIPs with other tobacco alkaloids. Cross-selectivity and recovery of the SupelMIP™ TSNA SPE cartridges was assessed with N-nitrosonornicotine (NNN), nicotine, cotinine and morphine. Their recoveries were compared with the recoveries of a nonimprinted polymer SPE cartridge, and two traditional SPE cartridges: a Waters mixed-mode cation exchange cartridge and a Waters hydrophilic–lipophilic balance cartridge. NNN and cotinine had the highest recoveries with the MIP cartridge, over 80%, and cotinine samples in urine had >80% recoveries. Nicotine had highly variable recoveries, possibly owing to differing chemical properties from the TSNAs. All three analytes had significantly different recoveries with the MIP cartridges compared with the traditional SPE cartridges. Morphine displayed nonspecific interactions with the MIP cartridges. Utilization of the TSNAs’ cross-selectivity allows for simultaneous extraction and identification of multiple tobacco biomarkers using one extraction technique.  相似文献
