Let G be a simple connected graph of order n   with degree sequence d1,d2,…,dnd1,d2,,dn in non-increasing order. The signless Laplacian spectral radius ρ(Q(G))ρ(Q(G)) of G   is the largest eigenvalue of its signless Laplacian matrix Q(G)Q(G). In this paper, we give a sharp upper bound on the signless Laplacian spectral radius ρ(Q(G))ρ(Q(G)) in terms of didi, which improves and generalizes some known results.  相似文献

We give upper and lower bounds for the spectral radius of a nonnegative matrix using its row sums and characterize the equality cases if the matrix is irreducible. Then we apply these bounds to various matrices associated with a graph, including the adjacency matrix, the signless Laplacian matrix, the distance matrix, the distance signless Laplacian matrix, and the reciprocal distance matrix. Some known results in the literature are generalized and improved.  相似文献

This paper introduces the connection-graph-stability method and uses it to establish a new lower bound on the algebraic connectivity of graphs (the second smallest eigenvalue of the Laplacian matrix of the graph) that is sharper than the previously published bounds. The connection-graph-stability score for each edge is defined as the sum of the lengths of the shortest paths making use of that edge. We prove that the algebraic connectivity of the graph is bounded below by the size of the graph divided by the maximum connection-graph-stability score assigned to the edges.  相似文献

By the signless Laplacian of a (simple) graph G we mean the matrix Q(G)=D(G)+A(G), where A(G),D(G) denote respectively the adjacency matrix and the diagonal matrix of vertex degrees of G. It is known that connected graphs G that maximize the signless Laplacian spectral radius ρ(Q(G)) over all connected graphs with given numbers of vertices and edges are (degree) maximal. For a maximal graph G with n vertices and r distinct vertex degrees δr>δr-1>?>δ1, it is proved that ρ(Q(G))<ρ(Q(H)) for some maximal graph H with n+1 (respectively, n) vertices and the same number of edges as G if either G has precisely two dominating vertices or there exists an integer such that δi+δr+1-i?n+1 (respectively, δi+δr+1-i?δl+δr-l+1). Graphs that maximize ρ(Q(G)) over the class of graphs with m edges and m-k vertices, for k=0,1,2,3, are completely determined.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the largest Laplacian spectral radius of the bipartite graphs with n vertices and k cut edges and the bicyclic bipartite graphs, respectively. Identifying the center of a star K1,k and one vertex of degree n of Km,n, we denote by the resulting graph. We show that the graph (1?k?n-4) is the unique graph with the largest Laplacian spectral radius among the bipartite graphs with n vertices and k cut edges, and (n?7) is the unique graph with the largest Laplacian spectral radius among all the bicyclic bipartite graphs.  相似文献

In this paper, we show that among all the connected graphs with n vertices and k cut vertices, the maximal signless Laplacian spectral radius is attained uniquely at the graph Gn,k, where Gn,k is obtained from the complete graph Kn-k by attaching paths of almost equal lengths to all vertices of Kn-k. We also give a new proof of the analogous result for the spectral radius of the connected graphs with n vertices and k cut vertices (see [A. Berman, X.-D. Zhang, On the spectral radius of graphs with cut vertices, J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 83 (2001) 233-240]). Finally, we discuss the limit point of the maximal signless Laplacian spectral radius.  相似文献

The complexity of a digraph property is the number of entries of the adjacency matrix which must be examined by a decision tree algorithm to recognize the property in the worst case, Aanderaa and Rosenberg conjectured that there is a constant such that every digraph property which is monotone (not destroyed by the deletion of edges) and nontrivial (holds for some but not all digraphs) has complexity at leastv 2 wherev is the number of nodes in the digraph. This conjecture was proved by Rivest and Vuillemin and a lower bound ofv 2/4–o(v 2) was subsequently found by Kahn, Saks, and Sturtevant. Here we show a lower bound ofv 2/2–o(v 2). We also prove that a certain class of monotone, nontrivial bipartite digraph properties is evasive (requires that every entry in the adjacency matrix be examined in the worst case).  相似文献

The distance spectral radius ρ(G)ρ(G) of a graph G   is the largest eigenvalue of the distance matrix D(G)D(G). In this paper, we characterize the graph with minimum distance spectral radius among trees with fixed number of pendent vertices.  相似文献

The energy of a digraph D is defined as , where z1,…,zn are the eigenvalues of D. In this article we find lower bounds for the energy of digraphs in terms of the number of closed walks of length 2, extending in this way the result obtained by Caporossi et al. [G. Caporossi, D. Cvetkovi?, I. Gutman, P. Hansen, Variable neighborhood search for extremal graphs. 2. Finding graphs with extremal energy, J. Chem. Inf. Comput. Sci. 39 (1999) 984-996]: for all graphs G with m edges. Also, we study digraphs with three eigenvalues.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the following problem: of all tricyclic graphs or trees of order n with k pendant vertices (n,k fixed), which achieves the maximal signless Laplacian spectral radius? We determine the graph with the largest signless Laplacian spectral radius among all tricyclic graphs with n vertices and k pendant vertices. Then we show that the maximal signless Laplacian spectral radius among all trees of order n with k pendant vertices is obtained uniquely at Tn,k, where Tn,k is a tree obtained from a star K1,k and k paths of almost equal lengths by joining each pendant vertex to one end-vertex of one path. We also discuss the signless Laplacian spectral radius of Tn,k and give some results.  相似文献

Four essentially different interpretations of a lower bound for linear operators are shown to be equivalent for matrices (involving inequalities, convex sets, minimax problems, and quotient spaces). Properties stated by von Neumann in a restricted case are satisfied by the lower bound. Applications are made to rank reduction, s-numbers, condition numbers, and pseudospectra. In particular, the matrix lower bound is the distance to the nearest matrix with strictly contained row or column spaces, and it occurs in a condition number formula for any consistent system of linear equations, including those that are underdetermined.  相似文献

Let G be a graph with n vertices and m edges. Let λ1λ2, … , λn be the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of G, and let μ1μ2, … , μn be the eigenvalues of the Laplacian matrix of G. An earlier much studied quantity is the energy of the graph G. We now define and investigate the Laplacian energy as . There is a great deal of analogy between the properties of E(G) and LE(G), but also some significant differences.  相似文献

It is well known that the ratio bound is an upper bound on the stability number α(G) of a regular graph G. In this note it is proved that, if G is a graph whose edge is a union of classes of a symmetric association scheme, the Delsarte’s linear programming bound can alternatively be stated as the minimum of a set of ratio bounds. This result follows from a recently established relationship between a set of convex quadratic bounds on α(G) and the number ?′(G), a well known variant of the Lovász theta number, which was introduced independently by Schrijver [A. Schrijver, A comparison of the Delsarte and Lovász bounds, IEEE Trans. Inform. Theory 25 (1979) 425-429] and McEliece et al. [R.J. McEliece, E.R. Rodemich, H.C. Rumsey Jr, The Lovász bound and some generalizations, J. Combin. Inform. System Sci. 3 (1978) 134-152].  相似文献

If G is a connected undirected simple graph on n vertices and n+c-1 edges, then G is called a c-cyclic graph. Specially, G is called a tricyclic graph if c=3. Let Δ(G) be the maximum degree of G. In this paper, we determine the structural characterizations of the c-cyclic graphs, which have the maximum spectral radii (resp. signless Laplacian spectral radii) in the class of c-cyclic graphs on n vertices with fixed maximum degree . Moreover, we prove that the spectral radius of a tricyclic graph G strictly increases with its maximum degree when , and identify the first six largest spectral radii and the corresponding graphs in the class of tricyclic graphs on n vertices.  相似文献

We use ergodic theory to prove a quantitative version of a theorem of M.A. Berger and Y. Wang, which relates the joint spectral radius of a set of matrices to the spectral radii of finite products of those matrices. The proof rests on a structure theorem for continuous matrix cocycles over minimal homeomorphisms having the property that all forward products are uniformly bounded.  相似文献

For positive integers k and m, and a digraph D, the k-step m-competition graph of D has the same set of vertices as D and an edge between vertices x and y if and only if there are distinct m vertices v1,v2,…,vm in D such that there are directed walks of length k from x to vi and from y to vi for 1?i?m. In this paper, we present the definition of m-competition index for a primitive digraph. The m-competition index of a primitive digraph D is the smallest positive integer k such that is a complete graph. We study m-competition indices of primitive digraphs and provide an upper bound for the m-competition index of a primitive digraph.  相似文献

Abstract

A connected graph G is a cactus if any two of its cycles have at most one common vertex. Denote by the set of n-vertex cacti with matching number q. Huang, Deng and Simi? [23] identified the unique graph with the maximum spectral radius among 2q-vertex cacti with perfect matchings. In this paper, as a continuance of it, the largest and second largest spectral radii together with the corresponding graphs among are determined. Consequently, the first two largest spectral radii together with cacti having perfect matchings are also determined.  相似文献
