A simple model for the reaction-driven propulsion of a small device is proposed as a model for (part of) a molecular machine in aqueous media. The motion of the device is driven by an asymmetric distribution of reaction products. The propulsive velocity of the device is calculated as well as the scale of the velocity fluctuations. The effects of hydrodynamic flow as well as a number of different scenarios for the kinetics of the reaction are addressed.  相似文献

For medical ultrasonic imaging and for nondestructive testing, the attenuation of pressure waves and the resulting shift in wave velocity are important features in commonly used transmission media such as biological tissue. An algorithm for the numerical evaluation of pressure field distributions generated by ultrasonic transducers is presented. The attenuation and dispersion of the sound transmission medium are taken into consideration. The sound fields are computed numerically for continuous wave as well as pulse excitation. The transducer has plane or gently curved geometry and is embedded in a plane rigid baffle. The numerically determined pressure fields are presented as 3D plots, as gray-scale images for a fixed time stamp (like a snapshot), or as isobars regarding the maximum values over time for each local point in the area under investigation. The algorithm described here can be utilized as a tool for design of ultrasound transducers, especially array antennas.  相似文献

The boundary-value problem is solved for electric field in a channel of a microchannel plate for a preset value of current at the channel entrance. This paper provides a brief review of the status of research in the field of solid nanoparticles. The field may be divided into the broad categories of particle creation, utilization, and manipulation. Several examples are provided for gas- and liquid-phase production of particles, as well as the many uses found for them in manufacturing, microelectronics, and medicine. Electrostatic self-assembly, a phenomenon that occurs in liquids, is discussed as a method for producing uniquely tailored structures. The use of nanoparticles as vehicles for the transdermal administration of medicaments and vaccines is also presented as a topic of ongoing research.  相似文献

We developed high-resolution GaP THz signal generator using Cr:Forsterite lasers with gratings as both a pump and a signal beam for difference-frequency generation. A line width of less than 500 MHz and a wide tunable frequency range (0.6–6.2 THz) provide sufficient resolution for measuring materials with sharp absorption bands using the generator as the light source for a THz spectrometer. This is suitable for materials such as gases or solid samples at low temperatures. We demonstrated the detection of defects in organic materials, as they appear as slight deviations in the absorption frequency in the THz region.  相似文献

FLUOR stands for Fibered Linked Unit for Optical Recombination and is an interferometric instrument which started out as a technology demonstrator, demonstrated the potential of single-mode fiber optics for high precision visibility measurements, and has been operated as a focal instrument of the IOTA interferometer since 1995. After a presentation of the instrument, the programs carried out with FLUOR are reviewed, as well as the perspectives introduced by interferometric observations with a high dynamic range.  相似文献

Long Josephson junctions have for some time been considered as a source of THz radiation. We consider here a stack of Josephson junctions as a model for the anisotropic high temperature superconductors in particular those of the BSCCO family. Solitons (fluxons) moving coherently in such junctions is a possible source for radiation. Analytical computations of the bunched state as well as bunching inducing methods are discussed. A new model for the interpretation of THz radiation experiments is suggested.  相似文献

Kinetic eigenmodes of plasma oscillations in a weakly collisional plasma, described by a collision operator of the Fokker-Planck type, are obtained in closed form for initial-value as well as for boundary-value problems. These eigenmodes, which are smooth and compose a complete discrete spectrum, play the same role for weakly collisional plasmas as the Case-Van Kampen modes do for collisionless plasmas.  相似文献

We present a practical method for calculating the gravitational self-force, as well as the electromagnetic and scalar self-forces, for a particle in a generic orbit around a Kerr black hole. In particular, we provide the values of all the regularization parameters needed for implementing the (previously introduced) mode-sum regularization method. We also address the gauge-regularization problem, as well as a few other issues involved in the calculation of gravitational radiation reaction in Kerr spacetime.  相似文献

Starting from the initial equations derived in a previous paper for an electron-hole plasma in a semiconductor resonantly excited in the interband absorption region by a monochromatic laser, the collision integrals of the Boltzmann equations for the quasiparticles as well as the nonlinearly defined optical functions are discussed in detail and related to each other. Explicit results are presented for the limiting case of linear absorption as well as for a stationary and homogeneous situation and compared with previous results in the literature. Especially for the latter case it is shown that it cannot provide a consistent understanding of the underlying physics and that consideration of inhomogeneous behaviour is essential.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a molecular dynamics study of the glass transition for a soft-core primitive model for ionic liquids, in which cations are fully flexible chains of tangent soft spherical monomers, being the positively charged monomer at one of the ends of the chain, and anions as charged soft spheres. We have monitored transport coefficients such as the self-diffusion coefficients and the shear viscosity, as well as correlation functions such as the mean-square displacement, the self-intermediate scattering function, and probes of heterogeneous dynamics such as the van Hove distribution function and the four-points susceptibility. The analysis of these properties indicates that, for a given pressure, the glass transition shows a weak temperature dependence on the cation length, occurring first for short-chain than for long-chain ionic liquids.  相似文献

We compute fractal dimension and permutation entropy for healthy and people who have experienced heart failure. Our result shows that permutation entropy is a suitable approach as well as detrend fluctuation analysis (DFA). The result of DFA shows that the fractal dimensions for healthy and heart failure are different as well as the permutation entropy result. The fluctuation value for permutation entropy for an individual who has experienced heart failure is bigger than for a healthy person. There is some specific change in the interbeat signal of a person who has experienced heart failure, but there is not previous trend for a healthy person.  相似文献

We designed a compact and large depth of field image scanner targeted for auto document feeders (ADF) by using a compound eye system design with plural optical units in which the ray paths are folded by a reflective optics. Though we have previously proposed the principle concept, we advance the design using a free-form surface mirror to reduce the F-number for less illumination energy and to shrink its optical track width to 40 mm. We achieved large depth of field (DOF) of 1.2 mm, defined as a range exceeding 30% modulation transfer function (MTF) at 300 dpi, which is about twice as large as a conventional gradient index (GRIN) lens array contact image sensor (CIS). The aperture stop has a rectangular-shaped aperture, where one side length is as large as 4.0mm for collecting much light, and another side length is as small as 1.88mm for avoiding interference of folded ray paths.  相似文献

Random Graphs and Mean Field Percolation are two names given to the most general mathematical model of systems composed of a set of connected entities. It has many applications in the study of real life networks as well as physical systems. The model shows a precisely described phase transition, but its solution for finite systems was yet unresolved. However, atomic nuclei, as well as other mesoscopic objects (e.g. molecules, nano-structures), cannot be considered as infinite and their fragmentation does not necessarily occur close to the transition point. Here, we derive for the first time the exact solution of Mean Field Percolation for systems of any size, as well as provide important information on the internal structure of Random Graphs. We show how these equations can be used as a basis to select non-trivial correlations in systems and thus to provide evidence for physical phenomena.  相似文献

为了获得高功率窄脉宽半导体激光,设计了半导体激光器相应的激励单元,论述MOSFET作为高速开关的工作机理,分析基于MOSFET作为高速开关产生窄的大电流脉冲的电路模型.为了使MOSFET开关速度尽可能快,根据前述分析,提出推挽式MOSFET栅极驱动方式并设计了触发窄脉冲的发生电路.当激光二极管接入放电回路时,实验表明:激光二极管输出光的峰值功率可达67.5 W,脉宽约为20 ns.最后,简要分析了影响光脉冲宽度的因素.  相似文献

A focusing optical system for a semiconductor laser-diode-array is described. The high-power array consists of a number of minuscule light sources (quantum wells) as well as a stratified structure, so that it requires several design techniques to focus as a pumping source for a laser-diode-pumped solid state laser. The bulk and surface properties of Ag-Au alloys, for the whole range of concentration and as a function of temperature, is studied by means of a simple modeling scheme using the Bozzolo-Ferrante-Smith method for alloys. The acoustic response of gassy seabed sediment is unique. It is a dispersive and extraordinarily attenuative natural material at frequencies which cause gas bubble resonance. It conceals the structure of the seabed from seismic profiling and it dampens acoustic signals that, for example, trigger acoustic mines. In the past, theoretical studies have formulated the probable cause of this response and crude experimental work has partially corroborated theory. This study measures compressional wave velocity and attenuation in a laboratory soil simulating natural gassy soil, and it investigates the structural properties that cause the unique acoustic response. It was confirmed that below the frequencies which cause resonance the soil behaves as a compressible material (containing gas), and above as a relatively incompressible material (containing no gas). Over the frequency range producing bubble resonance it is suggested that the soil should be modeled as a biphasic material of gas and a relatively incompressible saturated soil matrix (particles and fluid). Velocities for gassy soil were found to be as low as 220 m/s at frequencies below resonance and 1500 m/s above resonance; attenuations were found to be as high as 60 dB/cm for moderately gassy soil and as low as 1 dB/cm for soil with almost no gas.  相似文献

A practical engineering noise control measure that can often be used for plate-like structures is to construct them from perforates. This can dramatically reduce the sound radiation from such structures. Here, a prediction model is developed to quantify this effect. It is an extension of Laulagnet's model for the radiation from an unbaffled plate, which expresses the surface pressure difference as well as the plate velocity as a sum over plate modes. The perforation is included in terms of a continuously distributed surface impedance, which for moderately sized holes is predominantly inertial. Results show that the radiation efficiency reduces, not only as the perforation ratio increases but also as the hole size reduces for a given perforation ratio. Experimental validation is given which shows a good agreement with the predictions. An approximate formula is also proposed for the effect of perforation which corresponds well with the analytical calculations up to half the critical frequency and could be used for an engineering application to predict the noise reduction due to perforation. A model for the case of a perforated plate embedded in an equally perforated baffle is also discussed for comparison.  相似文献

An experiment on a Ramsey resonance for pulsed neutrons is discussed. The separated oscillatory fields for nuclear magnetic resonance were synchronized with a neutron pulse, and then the Ramsey resonance was observed as a function of the neutron velocity. The neutron spin was manipulated as a function of the neutron velocity. The phase of one of the oscillatory fields was modulated as a function of the neutron time of flight for a neutron velocity measurement.  相似文献
