We prove the decomposition theorem for the loop homotopy Lie algebra of quantum closed string field theory and use it to show that closed string field theory is unique up to gauge transformations on a given string background and given S-matrix. For the theory of open and closed strings we use results in open-closed homotopy algebra to show that the space of inequivalent open string field theories is isomorphic to the space of classical closed string backgrounds. As a further application of the open-closed homotopy algebra, we show that string field theory is background independent and locally unique in a very precise sense. Finally, we discuss topological string theory in the framework of homotopy algebras and find a generalized correspondence between closed strings and open string field theories.  相似文献

Due to the Cappelli-Itzykson-Zuber classification, the minimal conformally invariant quantum field theories withSU(2) currents are classified by the ADE Lie algebras. Here I give a conceptual proof of the empirically valid relation between their partition functions and the Lie algebra exponents.  相似文献

In recent years it has been realized that effective interactions—those valid over a limited range of energy-momentum—are often preferable even when more complete theories are available. We shall here present examples of such methods over a range of physical applications—from classical and quantum mechanics, to quantum gravity.  相似文献

First, we describe a rather general scheme for constructing three-dimensional euclidean topological quantum field theories, whose basic building blocks are provided by the representation theory of a certain class of (bi-)algebras. Secondly, we discuss in some detail examples, where the algebra is either the function algebra of a finite group, the group algebra of a finite group or a deformation of the enveloping algebra of a classical simple Lie group.  相似文献

The evolution of states of the composition of classical and quantum systems in the groupoid formalism for physical theories introduced recently is discussed. It is shown that the notion of a classical system, in the sense of Birkhoff and von Neumann, is equivalent, in the case of systems with a countable number of outputs, to a totally disconnected groupoid with Abelian von Neumann algebra. The impossibility of evolving a separable state of a composite system made up of a classical and a quantum one into an entangled state by means of a unitary evolution is proven in accordance with Raggio’s theorem, which is extended to include a new family of separable states corresponding to the composition of a system with a totally disconnected space of outcomes and a quantum one.  相似文献

We have unified quantum and classical computing in open quantum systems called qACP which is a quantum generalization of process algebra ACP. But, an axiomatization of quantum and classical processes with an assumption of closed quantum systems is still missing. For closed quantum systems, unitary operator, quantum measurement and quantum entanglement are three basic components of quantum computing. This leads to probability unavoidable. Along the solution of qACP to unify quantum and classical computing in open quantum systems, we unify quantum and classical computing with an assumption of closed systems under the framework of ACP-like probabilistic process algebra. This unification make it can be used widely in verification of quantum and classical computing mixed systems, such as most quantum communication protocols.

Quantum groups play the role of symmetries of integrable theories in two dimensions. They may be detected on the classical level as Poisson-Lie symmetries of the corresponding phase spaces. We discuss specifically the Wess-Zumino-Witten conformally invariant quantum field model combining two chiral parts which describe the left- and right-moving degrees of freedom. On one hand, the quantum group plays the role of the symmetry of the chiral components of the theory. On the other hand, the model admits a lattice regularization (in Minkowski space) in which the current algebra symmetry of the theory also becomes quantum, providing the simplest example of a quantum group symmetry coupling space-time and internal degrees of freedom. We develop a free field approach to the representation theory of the lattice sl (2)-based current algebra and show how to use it to rigorously construct an exact solution of the quantum SL (2) WZW model on lattice.  相似文献

The two-dimensional quantum superintegrable systems with quadratic integrals of motion on a manifold are classified by using the quadratic associative algebra of the integrals of motion. There are six general fundamental classes of quantum superintegrable systems corresponding to the classical ones. Analytic formulas for the involved integrals are calculated in all the cases. All the known quantum superintegrable systems with quadratic integrals are classified as special cases of these six general classes. The coefficients of the quadratic associative algebra of integrals are calculated and they are compared to the coefficients of the corresponding coefficients of the Poisson quadratic algebra of the classical systems. The quantum coefficients are similar to the classical ones multiplied by a quantum coefficient -?2 plus a quantum deformation of order ?4 and ?6. The systems inside the classes are transformed using Stäckel transforms in the quantum case as in the classical case. The general form of the Stäckel transform between superintegrable systems is discussed.  相似文献

The equivalence theorem in quantum field theory is proven on the basis of the field-antifield formalism. It is shown that the equivalence theorem does not contradict the well-known fact that, in quantum theory, some symmetries of the classical action functional are broken (anomalous). By way of example, a model is considered where natural finite counterterms can be chosen in different ways leading to physically nonequivalent quantum theories, but where the equivalence theorem remains valid.  相似文献

The covariant two-dimensional action principle that describes the dynamics of free superstrings in a Minkowski background is reviewed. Covariant gauge conditions are formulated, which simplify the equations of motion of the superspace coordinates to free equations. In this gauge there are bosonic and fermionic constraints whose generators give a supersymmetric generalization of the Virasoro algebra. As in certain supersymmetric field theories, closure of the algebra requires using the equations of motion. Covariant constrained bracket relations are obtained for the classical theory, but it is very difficult to extend them to quantum mechanical commutation relations. Interaction vertices satisfying supersymmetry and the necessary gauge conditions are constructed. They reduce in a special frame to ones found in earlier work in the light-cone gauge, and then can be interpreted quantum mechanically.  相似文献

The symplectic vector spaceE of theq andp's of classical mechanics allows a basis free definition of the Poisson bracket in the symmetric algebra overE. Thus the symmetric algebra overE becomes a Lie algebra, which can be compared with the quantum mechanical Weyl algebra with its commutator Lie structure. The universality of the Weyl algebra is used to study the well-known ‘classical’ Moyal realisation of the Weyl algebra in the symmetric algebra. Quantisations are defined as linear mappings of the underlying vector spaces of the two algebras. It is shown that the classical Lie algebra is −2 graded, whereas the quantum Lie algebra is not. This proves that they are not isomorphic, and hence there is no Dirac quantisation.  相似文献

Twisting of Quantum Differentials and¶the Planck Scale Hopf Algebra   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We show that the crossed modules and bicovariant differential calculi on two Hopf algebras related by a cocycle twist are in 1-1 correspondence. In particular, for quantum groups which are cocycle deformation-quantisations of classical groups the calculi are obtained as deformation-quantisations of the classical ones. As an application, we classify all bicovariant differential calculi on the Planck scale Hopf algebra . This is a quantum group which has an limit as the functions on a classical but non-Abelian group and a limit as flat space quantum mechanics. We further study the noncommutative differential geometry and Fourier theory for this Hopf algebra as a toy model for Planck scale physics. The Fourier theory implements a T-duality-like self-duality. The noncommutative geometry turns out to be singular when and is therefore not visible in flat space quantum mechanics alone. We show that an effect algebra E possess an order-determining set of states if and only if E is semiclassical; that is, E is essentially a classical effect algebra. We also show that if E possesses at least one state, then E admits hidden variables in the sense that E is homomorphic to an MV-algebra that reproduces the states of E. Both of these results indicate that we cannot distinguish between a quantum mechanical effect algebra and a classical one. Hereditary properties of sharpness and coexistence are discussed and the existence of {0,1} and dispersion-free states are considered. We then discuss a stronger structure called a sequential effect algebra (SEA) that we believe overcomes some of the inadequacies of an effect algebra. We show that a SEA is semiclassical if and only if it possesses an order-determining set of dispersion-free states.  相似文献

The integrals of motion of classical two-dimensional superintegrable systems, with polynomial integrals of motion, close in a restrained polynomial Poisson algebra; the general form of the quadratic case is investigated. The polynomial Poisson algebra of the classical system is deformed into a quantum associative algebra of the corresponding quantum system, and the finite-dimensional representations of this algebra are calculated by using a deformed parafermion oscillator technique. The finite-dimensional representations of the algebra are determined by the energy eigenvalues of the superintegrable system. The calculation of energy eigenvalues is reduced to the roots of algebraic equations in the quadratic case.  相似文献

The integrals of motion of the classical two-dimensional superintegrable systems close in a restrained polynomial Poisson algebra, whose general form is discussed. Each classical superintegrable problem has a quantum counterpart, a quantum superintegrable system. The polynomial Poisson algebra is deformed to a polynomial associative algebra, the finite-dimensional representations of this algebra are calculated by using a deformed parafermion oscillator technique. It is conjectured that the finite-dimensional representations of the polynomial algebra are determined by the energy eigenvalues of the superintegrable system. The calculation of energy eigenvalues is reduced to the solution of algebraic equations, which are universal for a large number of two-dimensional superintegrable systems. The four-dimensional metric f(R) theories of gravity are cast into connection-dynamical formalism with real su(2) connections as configuration variables. Through this formalism, the classical metric f(R) theories are quantized by extending the loop quantization scheme of general relativity. Our results imply that the nonperturbative quantization procedure of loop quantum gravity is valid not only for general relativity but also for a rather general class of four-dimensional metric theories of gravity.  相似文献

It is shown that the classical L-operator algebra of the elliptic Ruijsenaars-Schneider model can be realized as a subalgebra of the algebra of functions on the cotangent bundle over the centrally extended current group in two dimensions. It is governed by two dynamical r and ?r-matrices satisfying a closed system of equations. The corresponding quantum R and ?R-matrices are found as solutions to quantum analogs of these equations. We present the quantum L-operator algebra and show that the system of equations on R and ?R arises as the compatibility condition for this algebra. It turns out that the R-matrix is twist-equivalent to the Felder elliptic R F -matrix with ?R playing the role of the twist. The simplest representation of the quantum L-operator algebra corresponding to the elliptic Ruijsenaars-Schneider model is obtained. The connection of the quantum L-operator algebra to the fundamental relation RLL=LLR with Belavin's elliptic R matrix is established. As a byproduct of our construction, we find a new N-parameter elliptic solution to the classical Yang-Baxter equation. Received: 17 March 1997 / Accepted: 8 July 1997  相似文献
