Passive mode-locking of a pulsed Nd:YAG laser using a Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber was realized for the first time in a nearly critical stable resonator containing an antiresonant ring structure. The output energy and pulse duration are 13.5 mJ and 180 ps, respectively. The recovery time and saturable intensity for excited-state absorption of Cr4+:YAG under the action of strong laser pulses were calculated from rate equations. 相似文献

Four kinds of currently available Nd:hosted laser passive Q-switch and mode-locking modulators: plastic dye sheet, LiF:F2− color center crystal, Cr+4 :YAG crystal and RG1000 colored glass filter were investigated in detail and summarized for comparison for the first time. By using a LiF:F-2 crystal as a passive Q-switching modulator an average output power of 220 W was achieved from a Nd:YAG slab laser. The oscillator-amplifier resonator configuration under investigation delivered a peak pulse power up to 3 MW and a pulse energy of 0.31 J, pulse width of 100 ns. 相似文献

We report what is to our best knowledge the first Kerr-lens mode-locking of a Nd:silicate glass laser. Pulses as short as 64 fs were generated. For a broadband inhomogeneously broadened laser, the formation of the soliton-like pulses requires a minimum amount of negative group velocity dispersion (GVD), and more negative GVD is needed to have stable, self-sustained mode locking. 相似文献

Corner-pumping is a new pumping scheme in diode-pumped all-solid-state lasers, having such advantages as high pump efficiency, favorable pump uniformity and low cost. Compact corner-pumped Nd:YAG/YAG composite slab lasers at 1064 nm with low or medium output powers and high efficiency are demonstrated in this paper. Combined with intracavity frequency doubling by a LBO crystal, a corner-pumped Nd:YAG/YAG composite slab 532 nm green laser with a stable output is realized successfully. The experimental results show that corner-pumping can reduce laser costs greatly, release the thermal effects of slab crystals and improve the output beam quality, and that the new pumping scheme is feasible in the design of diode-pumped all-solid-state lasers with low or medium output powers. 相似文献

The currently available Nd:hosted lasers utilizing passive Q-switches: a plastic dye sheet, a LiF:F2- color center crystal, a Cr4+:YAG crystal or a RG1000 colored glass filter have been investigated in detail and the results summarized for comparison purposes for the first time. We first briefly summarize our own and others’ past studies, and report on recent new results concerning the use of Cr4+:YAG crystals and RG1000 colored glass filters as Nd:hosted laser passive Q-switchings. We then investigate in detail solid state laser system design using the above four passive modulators. Typical interpretations are given based on characteristic features of the materials, such as their saturation intensity and relaxation times. The results are then explained via adequate equations derived with respect to the relevant physical parameters of the materials. The optical dersity selection of plastic dye sheet passive Q-switching for the Nd:YAG laser system design is verified quantitatively, and the slope efficiencies from plastic dye sheet passive Q-switched operation by single pulse and multiple pulse bursts are investigated. The multi-peak Q-switched pulse timing phenomena are presented as well. The outstanding annealability, long lifetime, inexpensiveness and high repetition rate operation of LiF:F2- crystals are highly recommended. 相似文献

The high efficient laser performance of self-Q-switched laser in the co-doped Cr4+,Nd3+:YAG microchip with 1.8 mm thickness was demonstrated. The slope efficiency is varied with the reflectivity of output coupler at 1064 nm, and the highest slope efficiency of 26% was obtained for 95% reflectivity of output coupler at 1064 nm. The pulse width, the single pulse energy and the pulse repetition rate for different reflectivity of the output couplers were measured, and the experimental results agree with the numerical calculations of the passively Q-switched rate equations. This can lead to develop the diode laser pumped monolithic self-Q-switched solid-state microchip lasers, especially for the intracavity frequency-doubled solid-state microchip lasers. 相似文献

A passively Q-switched laser with Cr4+:YAG/Nd:YAG composite crystal using a corner cube prism cavity has been realized, in which the corner cube prism is the key element as it aids the compensation of the thermal lens effect of laser crystal. Compared with plane–plane mirror cavities under the same conditions, the stability of the laser performance using the corner cube prism cavity was improved remarkably over temperatures ranging from −40 to 65 °C. The decrease of Nd:YAG stimulated emission cross section with temperature was considered to be the main reason for the increase of average output pulse energy under the same cycle for the two different cavities when the ambient temperature changed −40 to 65 °C. The mode properties produced by the prism cavity were analyzed, and the theoretical results were verified by experimental observations. 相似文献

This work describes the experimental results obtained on the Cr4+:YAG crystal used as a passive Q-switch in Nd: YAG lasers. In addition, the combination of a Cr4+: YAG passive Q-switch with an acousto-optical Q-switch operating simultaneously in one cavity was investigated. More than 180 W average output in the passive Q-switched mode was obtained with the C4+: YAG crystal. The pulse-to-pulse stability was better than 1%. 报道了一种适合中小功率输出的全固态激光器的角抽运方法, 抽运光从板条激光器中板条晶体的角部入射, 可获得较高的抽运效率和较好的抽运均匀性.采用单角抽运方式, 首次进行了角抽运Nd:YAG复合板条946 nm连续运转激光器的实验研究. 激光腔采用紧凑型平凹直腔结构, 腔长仅为20 mm. 当注入抽运功率为50 W时, 946 nm激光连续输出功率最高达5.29 W, 光光转换效率为10.6%, 斜效率为12%. 整台激光器结构紧凑, 调谐简单, 成本低, 具有广阔的应用前景.

Cr4+ : YAG crystal was used as a saturable absorber in an active–passive mode-locked Nd : YAG laser. The stable and complete mode-locked pulse train was achieved at 1064 nm. The duration of a single pulse was obtained from 0.8 to 2.4 ns by changing the Cr4+ : YAG crystal with different initial transmission, when there was the shortest pulse width. The mode-locking dynamic process of Cr4+ : YAG crystal was analyzed by the rate equations to explain the experimental result, and the effect of excited-state absorption was considered. 相似文献

The self-Q-switched laser performance of monolithic Cr4+,Nd3+:YAG concave-planar resonator with 5-mm length was studied experimentally and theoretically. The slope efficiency is as high as 24% and pump threshold is as low as 64 mW. The pulse width, the single pulse energy and the pulse repetition rate of monolithic Cr,Nd:YAG self-Q-switched laser were measured as a function of absorbed pump power. With the increase of pump power, the pulse width decreases and the pulse energy and the pulse repetition rate increase. The average output power of 91 mW with pulse width of 7 ns at repletion rate of 35.5 kHz was obtained at the maximum absorbed pump power of 440 mW, the peak power is as high as 370 W. The theoretical prediction of pulse energy, pulse width and pulse repetition rate as a function of absorbed pump power based on rate equations is in a good agreement with our experimental data. This can lead to develop the diode laser-pumped monolithic self-Q-switched solid-state microchip lasers. 相似文献

A compact and simple design for an LDA-end-pumped intracavity doubling high-power blue laser with a composite Nd:YAG laser on the 4F3/2 to 4I9/2 laser transition in a flat-curved cavity is demonstrated. The nonlinear crystal used in the experiment is an LBO crystal cut for phase-matching type I. Through the thermo-lensing effect of the laser crystal at high-pumped power, the optimum mode-matched and efficient intracavity doubling are realized at the same time. The maximum output power at 473 nm was 600 mW when the absorbed, pumped power of 15 W, and the optical-to-optical conversion efficiency is 4%. The stability of blue output power is 3.2% within 2 h. 相似文献

We experimentally demonstrated a diode-pumped Kerr-lens mode-locked femtosecond laser based on an Yb:YAG ceramic. Stable laser pulses with 97-fs duration, 2.8-nJ pulse energy, and 320-mW average power were obtained. The femtosecond oscillator operated at a central wavelength of 1049 nm and a repetition rate of 115 MHz. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of a Kerr-lens mode-locked operation in a diode-pumped Yb:YAG ceramic laser with sub-100 fs pulse duration. 相似文献
