A confinement of a Lennard-Jones fluid in a system of slitlike pores separated by semipermeable walls of a finite width is studied. The walls are modelled by square-well repulsive potential wells. The structure of the confined fluid is investigated by means of a density functional method. For high potential barriers separating the pores, the phase behaviour of the system is similar to that for a single slitlike pore with impenetrable walls. For intermediate and low potential barriers the system shows different phase behaviour. Within some temperature range the isotherms exhibit two hysteresis loops, which characterize the condensation of the fluid in different parts of the system, namely in the pore and inside the semipermeable walls. The systems characterized by low and intermediate potential barriers exhibit the triple point, such that at temperatures below that triple point the condensation instantaneously takes place in both the pore and inside the permeable wall.  相似文献

A density functional perturbation approximation based both on second-order perturbation theory and on the pore average density has been proposed to study the adsorption hysteresis of nitrogen in a carbon slit pore. The main advantage of the present approximation is that it is computationally much simpler than the original density functional approximation based on the second-order perturbation theory of liquids, and can be applied to several model fluids confined in a strong external field in order to study their structural and thermodynamic properties. The calculated adsorption hysteresis for the confined Lennard-Jones nitrogen is in very good agreement with computer simulation, even if its accuracy slightly deteriorates for the desorption branch. The calculated equilibrium particle density distributions also compare well with computer simulations, and are better than those of a density functional theory based on the so-called mean-field approximation.  相似文献

We calculate the first-passage time distribution for diffusion through a cylindrical pore with sticky walls. A particle diffusively explores the interior of the pore through a series of binding and unbinding events with the cylinder wall. Through a diagrammatic expansion we obtain first-passage time statistics for the particle’s exit from the pore. Connections between the model and nucleocytoplasmic transport in cells are discussed.  相似文献

An exact expression is derived for the rotational friction coefficient of a cylinder of infinite length and constant permeability immersed in an incompressible viscous fluid. An asymptotic expression for the translational friction coefficient of a permeable cylinder moving in a sheet of viscous fluid embedded on both sides in a fluid of much lower viscosity is also given.  相似文献

The flow of a micropolar fluid in a porous channel with expanding or contracting walls is investigated. The governing equations are reduced to ordinary ones by using similar transformations. Homotopy analysis method (HAM) is employed to obtain the expressions for the velocity fields and microrotation fields. Graphs are sketched for the effects of some values of parameters, especially the expansion ratio, on the velocity and microrotation fields and associated dynamic characteristics are analyzed in detail.  相似文献

A study is reported of adsorption of an associating Lennard-Jones fluid with four associative sites per molecule in a slit-like pore. The density distribution of particles in the pore and thermodynamics properties are evaluated by using a density functional method. It is found that at low temperatures the fluid exhibits a set of layering transitions, followed by capillary condensation. Transitions are localized by analysing the grand canonical potential. The density profiles of particles and the distribution of unbound and differently bonded particles demonstrate changes in the structure of the fluid in the pore along the phase coexistence. The critical temperature is lower for a confined fluid, compared with the bulk counterpart. However, an increase in the energy of association increases the critical temperature. The envelope of the capillary condensation is narrower than the bulk liquid-vapour phase diagram. The dependence of the solvation force on the energy of association and on the bulk density is discussed.  相似文献

A mathematical model for magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of a Johnson-Segalman fluid in a channel with compliant walls is analyzed. The flow is engendered due to sinusoidal waves on the channel walls. A series solution is developed for the case in which the amplitude ratio is small. Our computations show that the mean axial velocity of a Johnson-Segalman fluid is smaller than that of a viscous fluid. The variations of various interesting dimensionless parameters are graphed and discussed.  相似文献

We experimentally observe two separate time scales governing the entropic recoil in the linear force-extension regime of single double-stranded DNA in slit confinement. We demonstrate the existence of two distinct relaxation regimes at different extensions during relaxation. Contrary to bulk measurements, the true longest relaxation time may only be probed very close to equilibrium. A simple model of the relaxation mechanism leads to a scaling analysis that correctly predicts the extension at the crossover between the two regimes.  相似文献

The paper discusses recent experimental results in the liquid-vapour critical region of metals which show that the existence of the metal-non-metal transition noticeably influences the electronic, thermodynamic, structural and interfacial features of the fluid. The main emphasis is on surface-induced phenomena. Reflectivity experiments on mercury against an optically transparent sapphire window close to the vapour-liquid coexistence curve reveal clearly the existence of a prewetting transition of mercury on the sapphire substrate. The transition line, which terminates at high temperatures at a prewetting critical temperature T pwc lying below the bulk critical temperature T c and at low temperatures at the wetting transition temperature T w lies close to the bulk vapour-liquid coexistence curve.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of laminar, isothermal, incompressible and viscous flow in a rectangular domain bounded by two moving porous walls, which enable the fluid to enter or exit during successive expansions or contractions is solved analytically by using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Graphical results are presented to investigate the influence of the nondimensional wall dilation rate α and permeation Reynolds number Re on the velocity, normal pressure distribution and wall shear stress. The obtained solutions, in comparison with the numerical solutions, demonstrate remarkable accuracy. The present problem for slowly expanding or contracting walls with weak permeability is a simple model for the transport of biological fluids through contracting or expanding vessels.   相似文献

The behaviour of an isolated impurity in a crystal undergoing a displacive phase transition is investigated in an exactly soluble spherical-like model. We find, depending on the parameter of the impurity, either a global phase transition at the bulkT c or a freezing-out of local order at a temperatureT c loc >T c driven by a soft local mode. The dynamics of 90-degree interphase domain walls during a first-order Morin-type spin-reorientation phase transition is studied theoretically. It is shown that an oscillatory motion of the walls with an amplitude that depends linearly on the field amplitude, as well as a drift motion of the wall at a velocity proportional to the square of the field amplitude, are driven by an external oscillating magnetic field. In the quasi-ternary CPCl/brine/hexanol lyotropic system, the interface of the lamellar and L3 sponge phases displays a phenomenon of epitaxy: the layers of the lamellar phase tend to make a constant non-trivial angle with the interface. Thin samples of lamellar phase embedded in the sponge phase are thus submitted to oblique anchoring conditions and defects are created in the lamellar phase in order to satisfy the bulk lamellar ordering and the boundary conditions. We have studied small droplets of lamellar phase in the sponge phase. They do not exhibit the classic defects (focal conic domains) but wall defects, which appear in order to satisfy the smectic elasticity and the boundary conditions. Moreover we show through experiments in controlled geometry that, even in the presence of focal conic domains, wall defects control the size and periodicity of the textures which are observed at the interface. Two methods are suggested for writing equations for domain walls in a coordinate system of the ferroelectric phase in ferroelastics and multiaxial ferroelectrics. The equations for domain walls in ferroelectric barium titanate and ferroelastic lead orthophosphate are derived. It is shown that suborientation states are possible in these crystals. The suggested methods make it possible to find the matrices of the transformation from the coordinate system of the paraelectric phase to a coordinate system of the ferroelectric phase for each orientation state.  相似文献
