Letf:(X,A)→(X,A) be an extension of a given map ψ:AA, where (X,A) is a pair of compact polyhedra. We shall introduce a special Nielsen number,SN(f|ψ), which is a lower bound for the number of fixed points onX-A for all extensions in the homotopy class off. It is shown that for many space pairs this lower bound is the best possible one, and that it can be realized without the by-passing condition.  相似文献

In this, the first of two papers outlining a Nielsen theory for “two, more readily computable equivariant numbers”, we define and study two Nielsen type numbers N(f,k;X−{Xν}νM) and N(f,k;X,{Xν}νM), where f and k are M-ad maps. While a Nielsen theory of M-ads is of interest in its own right, our main motivation lies in the fact that maps of M-ads accurately mirror one of two fundamental structures of equivariant maps. Being simpler however, M-ad Nielsen numbers are easier to study and to compute than equivariant Nielsen numbers. In the sequel, we show our M-ad numbers can be used to form both upper and lower bounds on their equivariant counterparts. The numbers N(f,k;X−{Xν}νM) and N(f,k;X,{Xν}νM), generalize the generalizations to coincidences, of Zhao's Nielsen number on the complement N(f;XA), respectively Schirmer's relative Nielsen number N(f;X,A). Our generalizations are from the category of pairs, to the category of M-ads. The new numbers are lower bounds for the number of coincidence points of all maps f and k which are homotopic as maps ofM-ads to f, respectively k firstly on the complement of the union of the subspaces Xν in the domain M-ad X, and secondly on all of X. The second number is shown to be greater than or equal to a sum of the first of our numbers. Conditions are given which allow for both equality, and Möbius inversion. Finally we show that the fixed point case of our second number generalizes Schirmer's triad Nielsen number N(f;X1X2).Our work is very different from what at first sight appears to be similar partial results due to P. Wong. The differences, while in some sense subtle in terms of definition, are profound in terms of commutability. In order to work in a variety of both fixed point and coincidence points contexts, we introduce in this first paper and extend in the second, the concept of an essentiality on a topological category. This allows us to give computational theorems within this diversity. Finally we include an introduction to both papers here.  相似文献

Let (Ω, Σ) be a measurable space, X a Banach space whose characteristic of noncompact convexity is less than 1, C a bounded closed convex subset of X, KC(C) the family of all compact convex subsets of C. We prove that a set-valued nonexpansive mapping T: CKC(C) has a fixed point. Furthermore, if X is separable then we also prove that a set-valued nonexpansive operator T: Ω × CKC(C) has a random fixed point.  相似文献

Let X be a connected based space and p be a two-regular prime number. If the fundamental group of X has order p, we compute the two-primary homotopy groups of the homotopy fiber of the trace map A(X) → TC(X) relating algebraic K-theory of spaces to topological cyclic homology. The proof uses a theorem of Dundas and an explicit calculation of the cyclotomic trace map K(ℤ[Cp])→ TC(ℤ[Cp]).  相似文献

Let C(f), Q(f), E(f) and A(f) be the sets of all continuity, quasicontinuity, upper and lower quasicontinuity and cliquishness points of a real function f: X → ℝ, respectively. The triplets (C(f),Q(f),A(f)), (C(f),E(f),A(f) and (Q(f),E(f),A(f)are characterized for functions defined on Baire metric spaces without isolated points.  相似文献

Given a single-valued function f between topological spaces X and Y, we interpret the cluster set C(f;x) as a multivalued function F=C(f;⋅) associated to f – the cluster function of f. For appropriate metrizable spaces X and Y, we characterize cluster functions C(f;⋅) among arbitrary set-valued functions F and show that every cluster function F=C(f;⋅) admits a selection h of Baire class 2 such that F=C(h;⋅). In this paper we define model solvmanifold pairs and their diagonal type selfmaps in the tradition of Heath and Keppelmann. We derive an explicit formula for computing the relative Nielsen number N(F;X,A) on these spaces and selfmaps F:(X,A)→(X,A). We find that model solvmanifold pairs often exhibit interesting Schirmer theory, meaning N(F;X,A)>max{N(F),N(F|A)}.  相似文献

Given a map f: XY and a Nielsen root class, there is a number associated to this root class, which is the minimal number of points among all root classes which are H-related to the given one for all homotopies H of the map f. We show that for maps between closed surfaces it is possible to deform f such that all the Nielsen root classes have cardinality equal to the minimal number if and only if either N R[f]≤1, or N R[f]>1 and f satisfies the Wecken property. Here N R[f] denotes the Nielsen root number. The condition “f satisfies the Wecken property is known to be equivalent to |deg(f)|≤N R[f]/(1−χ(M 2)−χ(M 10/(1−χ(M 2)) for maps between closed orientable surfaces. In the case of nonorientable surfaces the condition is A(f)≤N R[f]/(1−χ(M 2)−χ(M 2)/(1−χ(M 2)). Also we construct, for each integer n≥3, an example of a map f: K n N from an n-dimensionally connected complex of dimension n to an n-dimensional manifold such that we cannot deform f in a way that all the Nielsen root classes reach the minimal number of points at the same time.  相似文献

We prove that the Nielsen fixed point number N(φ) of an n-valued map φ:X?X of a compact connected triangulated orientable q-manifold without boundary is equal to the Nielsen coincidence number of the projections of the graph of φ, a subset of X×X, to the two factors. For certain q×q integer matrices A, there exist “linear” n-valued maps Φn,A,σ:Tq?Tq of q-tori that generalize the single-valued maps fA:TqTq induced by the linear transformations TA:RqRq defined by TA(v)=Av. By calculating the Nielsen coincidence number of the projections of its graph, we calculate N(Φn,A,σ) for a large class of linear n-valued maps.  相似文献

An f-ring A is an SV f-ring if for every minimal prime ?-ideal P of A, A/P is a valuation domain. A topological space X is an SV space if C(X) is an SV f-ring. For normal spaces, several conditions are shown to guarantee the space is an SV space. For example, a normal space of finite rank for which the closure of the set of points of rank greater than 1 is an F-subspace, is an SV space. For normal spaces of rank 2, a characterization of SV spaces is given.  相似文献

Let f be a transcendental meromorphic function and Δf(z) = f(z + 1) − f(z). A number of results are proved concerning the existences of zeros and fixed points of Δ f(z) and Δ f(z)/f(z) when f(z) is of order σ(f)=1. Examples show that some of the results are sharp.  相似文献

Let X be a Banach space, C a bounded closed subset of X, A a convex closed subset of X, E a complete metric space formed by all α-nonexpansive mappings fCA and M a complete metric space formed by α-nonexpansive differentiable mappings fCX. The following assertions are proved in this paper: (1) Properness of I ? f is a generic property in E (2)the subset of E formed by all α-contractive mappings is of Baire first category in E; and (3) for every y?X, the functional equation x ? f(x) = y has generically a finite number of solutions for f in M. Some applications to the fixed point theory and calculation of the topological degree are given.  相似文献

We study the well-posedness of the equations with fractional derivative Dαu(t)=Au(t)+f(t)(0 ≤t≤2π),where A is a closed operator in a Banach space X,0α1 and Dα is the fractional derivative in the sense of Weyl.Although this problem is not always well-posed in Lp(0,2π;X) or periodic continuous function spaces Cper([0,2π];X),we show by using the method of sum that it is well-posed in some subspaces of L p(0,2π;X) or C per([0,2π];X).  相似文献

In the context of vector optimization and generalizing cones with bounded bases, we introduce and study quasi-Bishop-Phelps cones in a normed space X. A dual concept is also presented for the dual space X*. Given a convex subset A of a normed space X partially ordered by a closed convex cone S with a base, we show that, if A is weakly compact, then positive proper efficient points are sequentially weak dense in the set E(A, S) of efficient points of A; in particular, the connotation weak dense in the above can be replaced by the connotation norm dense if S is a quasi-Bishop-Phelps cone. Dually, for a convex subset of X* partially ordered by the dual cone S +, we establish some density results of positive weak* efficient elements of A in E(A, S +).  相似文献

LetX be a closed subset of a topological spaceF; leta(·) be a continuous map fromX intoX; let {x i} be a sequence generated iteratively bya(·) fromx 0 inX, i.e.,x i+1 =a(x i),i=0, 1, 2, ...; and letQ(x 0) be the cluster point set of {x i}. In this paper, we prove that, if there exists a pointz inQ(x 0) such that (i)z is isolated with respect toQ(x 0), (ii)z is a periodic point ofa(·) of periodp, and (iii)z possesses a sequentially compact neighborhood, then (iv)Q(x 0) containsp points, (v) the sequence {x i} is contained in a sequentially compact set, and (vi) every point inQ(x 0) possesses properties (i) and (ii). The application of the preceding results to the caseF=E n leads to the following: (vii) ifQ(x 0) contains one and only one point, then {x i} converges; (viii) ifQ(x 0) contains a finite number of points, then {x i} is bounded; and (ix) ifQ(x 0) containsp points, then every point inQ(x 0) is a periodic point ofa(·) of periodp.  相似文献

LetX be a real linear normed space, (G, +) be a topological group, andK be a discrete normal subgroup ofG. We prove that if a continuous at a point or measurable (in the sense specified later) functionf:XG fulfils the condition:f(x +y) -f(x) -f(y) ∈K whenever ‖x‖ = ‖y‖, then, under some additional assumptions onG,K, andX, there esists a continuous additive functionA :XG such thatf(x) -A(x) ∈K.  相似文献

Let C(X) be the algebra of all real-valued continuous functions on a completely regular Hausdorff space X, and C*(X) the subalgebra of bounded functions. We prove that for any intermediate algebra A between C*(X) and C(X), other than C*(X), there exists a smaller intermediate algebra with the same real maximal ideals as in A. The space X is called A-compact if any real maximal ideal in A corresponds to a point in X. It follows that, for a noncompact space X, there does not exist any minimal intermediate algebra A for which A is A-compact. This completes the answer to a question raised by Redlin and Watson in 1987.  相似文献

In this paper, which is a continuation of Timofte (J. Approx. Theory 119 (2002) 291–299, we give special uniform approximations of functions from CXY(T×S) and C(T×S,XY) by elements of the tensor products CX(T)CY(S), respectively C0(T,X)C0(S,Y), for topological spaces T,S and Γ-locally convex spaces X,Y (all four being Hausdorff).  相似文献

For a bounded linear injectionCon a Banach spaceXand a closed linear operatorA : D(A) XXwhich commutes withCwe prove that (1) the abstract Cauchy problem,u″(t) = Au(t),t R,u(0) = Cx,u′(0) = Cy, has a unique strong solution for everyx,y D(A) if and only if (2)A1 = AD(A2) generates aC1-cosine function onX1(D(A) with the graph norm), if (and only if, in caseAhas nonempty resolvent set) (3)Agenerates aC-cosine function onX. HereC1 = CX1. Under the assumption thatAis densely defined andC−1AC = A, statement (3) is also equivalent to each of the following statements: (4) the problemv″(t) = Av(t) + C(x + ty) + ∫t0 Cg(r) dr,t R,v(0) = v′(0) = 0, has a unique strong solution for everyg L1locandx, y X; (5) the problemw″(t) = Aw(t) + Cg(t),t R,w(0) = Cx,w′(0) = Cy, has a unique weak solution for everyg L1locandx, y X. Finally, as an application, it is shown that for any bounded operatorBwhich commutes withCand has range contained in the range ofC,A + Bis also a generator.  相似文献
