Appropriate weighted norms in H1 are presented such that the Korn type inequality is asymptotically sharp with respect to relative thickness and stiffness of the elastic plates. The weights depend crucially on the geometric structure of the plates' junction. To cite this article: O.V. Izotova et al., C. R. Mecanique 334 (2006).  相似文献

We derive various models of assemblies of thin linearly elastic plates by abutting or superposition through an asymptotic analysis taking into account small parameters associated with the size and the stiffness of the adhesive. They correspond to the linkage of two Kirchhoff–Love plates by a mechanical constraint which strongly depends on the magnitudes of the previous parameters. To cite this article: C. Licht, C. R. We determine stability boundaries for the wrinkling of highly unidirectionally stretched, finely thin, rectangular elastic sheets. For a given fine thickness and length, a stability boundary here is a curve in the parameter plane, aspect ratio vs. the macroscopic strain; the values on one side of the boundary are associated with stable unwrinkled (flat) states, while stable wrinkled configurations correspond to all values on the other. In our recent work we demonstrated the importance of finite elasticity in the membrane part of such a model in order to capture the correct phenomena. Here we present and compare results for four distinct models: (i) the popular Föppl–von Kármán plate model (FvK), (ii) a correction of the latter, used in our earlier work, in which the approximate 2D Föppl strain tensor is replaced by the exact Green strain tensor, (iii) and (iv): effective 2D finite-elasticity membrane models based on 3D incompressible neo-Hookean and Mooney–Rivlin materials, respectively. In particular, (iii) and (iv) are superior models for elastomers. The 2D nonlinear, hyperelastic models (ii)–(iv) all incorporate the same quadratic bending energy used in FvK. Our results illuminate serious shortcomings of the latter in this problem, while also pointing to inaccuracies of model (ii) – in spite of yielding the correct qualitative phenomena in our earlier work. In each of these, the shortcoming is a due to a deficiency of the membrane part of the model.  相似文献

The formation of ripples along the edge of plant leaves is studied using a model of an elastic strip with spontaneous curvature. The equations of equilibrium of the strip are established in an explicit form. A numerical method of solution is presented and carried out. Owing to the presence of geometric nonlinearities, several equilibrium configurations are found but we show that only one of them is physical. To our knowledge, this is the first investigation of ripples in plant leaves that is based on the equations of elasticity. To cite this article: B. Audoly, A. Boudaoud, C. R. We consider an elastic plate of infinite length and constant width supported simply along its two parallel edges and having a finite length crack along its centreline. In particular, we look for and find trapped modes (localised oscillations) in the presence of the crack. An explicit wide-spacing approximation based on the Wiener–Hopf technique applied to incident wave scattering by semi-infinite cracks is complemented by an exact formulation of the problem in the form of integro-differential equations. An application of a Galerkin method for the numerical calculation of results from the latter method leads to a novel explicit ‘small-spacing’ approximation. In combination with the wide-spacing results this is shown to provide accurate results for all lengths of crack.  相似文献

Extended three-dimensional digital image correlation (X3D-DIC)   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A correlation algorithm is proposed to measure full three-dimensional displacement fields in a three-dimensional domain. The chosen kinematic basis for this measurement is based on continuous finite-element shape functions. It is furthermore proposed to account for the presence of strong discontinuities, similarly to extended finite element schemes, with a suited enrichment of the kinematics with discontinuities supported by a (crack) surface. An optimization of the surface geometry is proposed based on correlation residuals. The procedure is applied to analyze one loading cycle of a fatigue-cracked nodular graphite cast iron sample by using computed tomography pictures. Subvoxel crack openings are revealed and measured. The analytical model derived by Howe assessing the acoustic effect of perforated plates has been implemented in a 3D Helmholtz solver. This solver allows one to compute the acoustic modes of industrial chambers taking into account the multiperforated plates present for the cooling of the walls. An academic test case consisting of two coaxial cylinders, with the inner one being perforated is used to validate the implementation in the general purpose AVSP code. This case is also used to show the effects of the presence of the plates. In particular, the sensitivity of the acoustic damping to the bias flow speed will be studied. A maximum absorption speed is shown, and the behaviour towards an infinite speed will be illustrated by the academic case. Computations are also conducted in the case of an industrial helicopter chamber. The value of the maximum absorption speed is discussed to explain why the modes are in fact not much absorbed by the perforated plates, and that the frequencies are the same as for walls. The method of asymptotic partial domain decomposition for thin tube structures (finite unions of thin cylinders) is revisited. Its application to the Newtonian and non-Newtonian flows in great systems of vessels is considered. The possibility of a parallelization of its algorithm is discussed for linear and non-linear models.  相似文献

This Note is devoted to the experimental verification of the Onsager's reciprocal relations in the particular case of electro-osmosis and electro-filtration. A special set up has been designed to carry out the measurements of both the electro-osmotic permeability and the streaming potential. This has been performed by using a natural material i.e., saturated kaolinite. To cite this article: K. Beddiar et al., C. R. Mecanique 330 (2002) 893–898.  相似文献

Boundary integral equations are well suitable for the analysis of seismic waves propagation in unbounded domains. Formulations in elastodynamics are well developed. In contrast, for the dynamic analysis of viscoelastic media, there are very seldom formulations by boundary integral equations. In this Note, we propose a new and simple formulation of time harmonic viscoelasticity with the Zener model, which reduces to classical elastodynamics if a compatibility condition is satisfied by boundary conditions. Intermediate variables which satisfy the classical elastodynamic equations are introduced. It makes it possible to utilize existing numerical tools of time harmonic elastodynamics. We consider an elasticity problem in a domain Ω()F(), where Ω is an open bounded domain in R3, F() is a connected nonperiodic set in Ω like a net of slender bars, and is a parameter characterizing the microstructure of the domain. We consider the case of a surface distribution of the set F(), i.e., for sufficiently small , the set F() is concentrated in arbitrary small neighbourhood of a surface Γ. Under a hypothesis on the asymptotic behaviour of the energy functional, we obtain the macroscopic (homogenized) model. To cite this article: M. Goncharenko, L. Pankratov, C. R. An experimental mixing layer in water at Reynolds number 440 is investigated. A colored viscoelastic solution is introduced in the shear layer before the roll-up dynamics. On the basis of flow visualization and local velocity measurements, it is found that compared to the Newtonian case, the roll-up process is affected by the non-Newtonian behavior of the viscoelastic solution. The effect consists of the appearance of secondary eddies in the mixing layer corresponding to the production of higher harmonics in the vorticity distribution. Consequently, there is a frequency doubling of the local velocity oscillations in the mixing layer. To cite this article: F. Sausset et al., C. R. Mecanique 332 (2004).

Pour citer cet article : F. Sausset et al., C. R. A large scale experiment has been carried out on an experimental facility to study the mass transfer of trichloroethylene (TCE) in a partially saturated porous medium. 5 liters of TCE have been infiltrated in the vadose zone of the site. The mass transfer of TCE from the vapor plume in the unsaturated zone towards the top of groundwater was quantified based on an analytical and a numerical approach. The mass of the pollutant measured at the exit of the model is well represented by the two mathematical approaches. It is found that the transfer of TCE towards the groundwater from the vapor plume is weak, which corresponds to 285 g of TCE, approximately 4% of the initial mass. Strained flames are commonly used to study the structure of reactive layers and describe the local properties of turbulent combustion. This model is attractive because constant strain rate flames only depend on a transverse coordinate and can be treated as a one-dimensional problem. This configuration is considered in a multidimensional context in which the strained flow is obtained by two counterflowing streams of reactants. It is used to examine the structure of transcritical strained flames in which one or two reactants are injected at a high pressure exceeding the critical value while their temperature is below the critical value. Calculations are carried out in a two-dimensional domain to test numerical models developed for multidimensional simulations and test thermodynamic and transport models devised to deal with high pressure real gas effects. Multidimensional strained flame calculations carried out in this study serve to check the validity of a new version of a Navier–Stokes flow solver (AVBP) conceived to deal with transcritical combustion of interest to liquid propellant rocket applications. This article describes the basic elements of such simulations and discusses results of calculations. It is shown that the calculated multidimensional strained flames have the expected features in terms of structure and response to the imposed strain rate. To cite this article: L. Pons et al., C. R. Large-Eddy Simulations (LES) of an evaporating two-phase flow in an experimental burner are performed using two different solvers, CDP from CTR-Stanford and AVBP from CERFACS, on the same grid and for the same operating conditions. Results are evaluated by comparison with experimental data. The CDP code uses a Lagrangian particle tracking method (EL) while the code AVBP can be coupled either with a mesoscopic Eulerian approach (EE) or with a Lagrangian method (EL). After a validation of the purely gaseous flow in the burner, liquid-phase dynamics, droplet dispersion and fuel evaporation are qualitatively and quantitatively evaluated for three two-phase flow simulations. They are respectively referred as: CDP-EL, AVBP-EE and AVBP-EL. The results of the three simulations show reasonable agreement with experiments for the two-phase flow case. To cite this article: J.M. The present study uses the LES code AVBP, developed at CERFACS, to simulate transcritical flows. Real gas effects are accounted for by the use of a cubic equation of state, in conjunction with appropriate viscosity and thermal conductivity coefficients. First a single nitrogen round jet at supercritical pressure injected in a gaseous reservoir is simulated. Two cases are considered, one demonstrating a transcritical injection (high density injection), the other being directly injected at supercritical temperature (lower density injection). Comparison with available measurements shows good agreement. Finally, the simulation of a reacting case from the Mascotte bench (ONERA) is performed, consisting in a single coaxial injector injecting transcritical oxygen and supercritical hydrogen in a 60 bar chamber. Mean flow characteristics are in good agreement with the experimental observations of OH* emission, whereas temperature comparisons are more difficult to interpret. To cite this article: T. This Note presents an effective and accurate method for numerical calculation of the Green's function G associated with the time harmonic elasticity system in a half-plane, where an impedance boundary condition is considered. The need to compute this function arises when studying wave propagation in underground mining and seismological engineering. To theoretically obtain this Green's function, we have drawn our inspiration from the paper by Durán et al. (2005), where the Green's function for the Helmholtz equation has been computed. The method consists in applying a partial Fourier transform, which allows an explicit calculation of the so-called spectral Green's function. In order to compute its inverse Fourier transform, we separate as a sum of two terms. The first is associated with the whole plane, whereas the second takes into account the half-plane and the boundary conditions. The first term corresponds to the Green's function of the well known time-harmonic elasticity system in (cf. J. Dompierre, Thesis). The second term is separated as a sum of three terms, where two of them contain singularities in the spectral variable (pseudo-poles and poles) and the other is regular and decreasing at infinity. The inverse Fourier transform of the singular terms are analytically computed, whereas the regular one is numerically obtained via an FFT algorithm. We present a numerical result. Moreover, we show that, under some conditions, a fourth additional slowness appears and which could produce a new surface wave. To cite this article: M. Durán et al., C. R.
