A monoidS is susceptible to having properties bearing upon all right acts overS such as: torsion freeness, flatness, projectiveness, freeness. The purpose of this note is to find necessary and sufficient conditions on a monoidS in order that, for example, all flat rightS-acts are free. We do this for all meaningful variants of such conditions and are able, in conjunction with the results of Skornjakov [8], Kilp [5] and Fountain [3], to describe the corresponding monoids, except in the case all torsion free acts are flat, where we have only some necessary condition. We mention in passing that homological classification of monoids has been discussed by several authors [3, 4, 5, 8].In the following,S will always stand for a monoid. A rightS-act is a setA on whichS acts unitarily from the right in the usual way, that is to saya(rs) = (ar)s, a1 =a (a A,r,s S) where 1 denotes the identity ofS.  相似文献

We compute the divisor class group of the general hypersurface Y of a complex projective normal variety X of dimension at least four containing a fixed base locus Z. We deduce that completions of normal local complete intersection domains of finite type over C of dimension ≥ 4 are completions of UFDs of finite type over C.  相似文献

In this paper we address the problem of estimating θ1 when , are observed and |θ1θ2|?c for a known constant c. Clearly Y2 contains information about θ1. We show how the so-called weighted likelihood function may be used to generate a class of estimators that exploit that information. We discuss how the weights in the weighted likelihood may be selected to successfully trade bias for precision and thus use the information effectively. In particular, we consider adaptively weighted likelihood estimators where the weights are selected using the data. One approach selects such weights in accord with Akaike's entropy maximization criterion. We describe several estimators obtained in this way. However, the maximum likelihood estimator is investigated as a competitor to these estimators along with a Bayes estimator, a class of robust Bayes estimators and (when c is sufficiently small), a minimax estimator. Moreover we will assess their properties both numerically and theoretically. Finally, we will see how all of these estimators may be viewed as adaptively weighted likelihood estimators. In fact, an over-riding theme of the paper is that the adaptively weighted likelihood method provides a powerful extension of its classical counterpart.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the testing problem of generalized multivariate linear hypothesis for the mean in the growth curve model(GMANOVA). Our interest is the case in which the number of the observed points p is relatively large compared to the sample size N. Asymptotic expansions of the non-null distributions of the likelihood ratio criterion, Lawley-Hotelling’s trace criterion and Bartlett-Nanda-Pillai’s trace criterion are derived under the asymptotic framework that N and p go to infinity together, while p/Nc∈(0,1). It also can be confirmed that Rothenberg’s condition on the magnitude of the asymptotic powers of the three tests is valid when p is relatively large, theoretically and numerically.  相似文献

In this paper we study the probability that the commutator of two randomly chosen elements in a finite group is equal to a given element of that group. Explicit computations are obtained for groups G which |G| is prime and GZ(G) as well as for groups G which |G| is prime and GZ(G)=1. This paper extends results of Rusin [see D.J. Rusin, What is the probability that two elements of a finite group commute? Pacific J. Math. 82 (1) (1979) 237-247].  相似文献

It is shown that if 20 (mod P) the set of indices of simple components of the twisted group algebra of finite nilpotent groups of class 2 over the field of P-adic numbers consists of all natural numbers.Translated from Ukrainskii Matematicheskii Zhurnal, Vol. 43, No. 6, pp. 723–727, June, 1991.  相似文献

Sums C = A + B of two finite sets in a (generally non-abelian) group are considered. The following two theorems are proved. 1. ∣C∣ ≥ ∣A∣ + 12 ∣B∣ unless C + (?B + B) = C; 2. There is a subset S of C and a subgroup H such that ∣S∣ ≥ ∣A∣ + ∣B∣ ? ∣H∣, and either H + S = S or S + H = S.  相似文献
