We have investigated pure germanium two-dimensional photonic crystals. The photonic crystals which exhibit resonances in the near infrared spectral range were fabricated on germanium-on-insulator substrates using standard silicon-based processing. The germanium-on-insulator substrate consists of a thin layer of pure germanium-on-oxide deposited on a silicon substrate. The optical properties are probed by the direct band gap optical recombination of pure germanium at room temperature. Resonant optical modes are evidenced between 1.68 and 1.53 μm in different type of hexagonal cavities (H1-H5). The spectral position of the modes is controlled by the lattice periodicity and air filling factor of the photonic crystals. Close to the Ge band edge, the quality factors are limited by the bulk material absorption. 相似文献

硅基光子技术的发展为新型微纳光学功能器件和片上系统提供了高可靠、高精度的实现手段.采用硅基光子技术构建的具有连续(准连续)模式微腔与离散模式的微腔耦合产生的Fano共振现象得到了广泛关注.Fano共振光谱在共振波长附近具有不对称且尖锐的谐振峰,传输光的强度在共振波长附近从0突变为1,该机制可显著提高硅基光开关、探测器、传感器,以及光非互易性全光信号处理的性能.本综述分析了Fano共振的一般数学表述,总结了当前硅基光子微腔耦合产生Fano共振的理论模型研究现状,讨论了不同类型硅光器件实现Fano共振的方法,比较各种方案优劣及适用场合,梳理了Fano共振在全光信号处理方面的应用研究情况.最后探讨存在的一些问题及未来可能的相关研究方向. 相似文献

By integrating soft-lithography-based nanofluidics with silicon nanophotonics, we demonstrate dynamic, liquid-based addressing and high deltan/n (approximately 0.1) refractive index modulation of individual features within photonic structures at subwavelength length scales. We show ultracompact tunable spectral filtering through nanofluidic targeting of a single row of holes within a planar photonic crystal. We accomplished this with an optofluidic integration architecture comprising a nanophotonic layer, a nanofluidic delivery structure, and a microfluidic control engine. Variants of this technique could enable dynamic reconfiguration of photonic circuits, selective introduction of optical nonlinearities, or delivery of single molecules into resonant cavities for biodetection. 相似文献

We report on the photonic band gap effect in the visible range in a three-dimensional dielectric lattice formed by closely packed silica spherical clusters and by interconnected cavities filled with various liquids. The spectral position and the spectral width of the optical "stop-band" depend on the lattice period and on the relative sphere/cavity refraction indexn. The stop band peak wavelength shows a linear dependence on n. Transmission characteristics of the lattice have been successfully simulated by numerical calculations within the framework of a quasicrystalline approximation. 相似文献

We introduced a procedure of using local density of states for increasing the quality factor and Purcell factor of photonic crystal cavities. We used multipole expansion method for accurate calculation of local density of photonic states, stationary field profile, Q-factor, mode volume and Purcell factor of photonic crystal cavities. We found out that the quality factor exponentially increases with the number of additional photonic crystal layers around the cavity while the mode frequencies stay unchanged. We also demonstrated the method in studying the defect mode??s behavior in photonic crystal cavities and showed that high Q-factor, small mode volume and high Purcell factor could be obtained with optimization of geometrical parameters of first neighboring layer. 相似文献

We report on experimental measurements of the propagation behavior of short optical pulses in a three-dimensional photonic crystal in the visible spectrum. The propagation delay of 70 fs light pulses transmitted through a sample of a fcc synthetic opal at frequencies lying in a photonic stop band was measured directly using a time-of-flight technique. Taking into account spectral reshaping of the transmitted pulses as well as the residual frequency chirp of the incoming pulses, it is found that the pulses significantly slow down at the photonic band edges. 相似文献

A novel approach realizing an optical spectrum analyzer for photonic detection of an unknown RF carrier signals is presented. The described module may be part of an electronic warfare system in which detection of a narrow band RF signal is required. Moreover, The RF signal is characterized by an unknown time varying carrier frequency embedded in wide band noise. The system uses a passive, fiber based photonic configuration. It allows the spectrum mapping of an incoming electronic RF signal modulated on an optical carrier. The spectral analyzer configuration uses a finite impulse response (FIR) filter that is realized by two different optical paths of parallel fibers which generate a spectral notch filter. Hence, a wavelength coding is realized by chromatic dispersion such that each wavelength is filtered by a different FIR filter. Therefore, the energy at a WDM demux output channels is actually proportional to the spectrum of the input RF signal. This spectral mapping is obtained without lose of temporal RF information. 相似文献

通过平面波展开法对由Al2O3介质棒在空气背景介质中构成含有点缺陷的二维正方光子晶体微腔结构进行研究,计算得出缺陷态能带以及缺陷态模场分布。缺陷模对应的电磁波波长为470~476nm。对该微腔结构的品质因数的求解,得出缺陷态光谱曲线。在光谱曲线中,随着传输波长的增大,将产生几个峰值,并且在475nm处的波动最为明显,反映出在475nm附近的电磁波段在缺陷处的光强较大。进一步利用全矢量等效折射率法研究该结构缺陷模频率的稳定性,得出等效折射率的变化曲线。从等效折射率变化曲线可以看出,当传输波长达到475nm时,该结构已经达到稳定传输的区域。含缺陷模的二维光子晶体微腔结构在光子晶体发光二极管以及高阈值半导体激光器等方面有着重要的应用价值。 相似文献

We theoretically propose a photonic flash based on a linearly coupled cavity system. Via driving the two side cavities by external fields, it forms a cyclic energy-level diagram and therefore the phase difference between the driving fields acts as a controller of the steady state due to the quantum interference effect. In the optical trimer structure, we show that the perfect photonic flash can be realized in the situation of resonant driving. The perfect photonic flash scheme is furthermore generalized to multiple coupled cavity system, where the cavities with odd and even number turn bright and dark alternatively. Our proposal may be applied for designing the quantum neon and realizing a controllable photonic localization. 相似文献

The transmission spectrum of a one-dimensional photonic crystal with structural defects is investigated. An anisotropic layer of a nematic liquid crystal is considered as a defect. The possibility of effective external control of the transmission spectrum of the photonic crystal by changing either the orientational state of the defect liquid crystal layer (for example, using an electric field) or the angle of incidence of light is shown. It is established that the spectral properties of the photonic crystal change radically with a change in the optical characteristics of the defect layer in the vicinity of the temperature phase transition of the nematic liquid crystal to the isotropic state. 相似文献

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a scheme of high-Q microwave photonic filter (MPF) using the techniques of self-phase modulation (SPM) spectrum broadening and third-order dispersion (TOD) compensation. The optical pulses from a mode-locking laser are spectrally broadened by the SPM in the highly nonlinear fiber. A wideband optical frequency comb with 365 spectral lines within 10-dB power variation from the highest spectral power is obtained. By applying a cubic phase modulation via a waveshaper, the effect of TOD which broadens the MPF passband is eliminated. The final implemented MPF has a Q-value as high as 296 and a tuning range of 700 MHz. 相似文献

We present the optical transfer functions for third-order nonlinear cavities that involve an optical carrier frequency and its modulation sideband fields. Our approach is based on linearized transformations and provides a convenient tool to calculate squeezed light sources as well as complex interferometer topologies, containing subsystems that involve intensity dependent phase shifts, i.e., optical Kerr media. As the result we present the noise spectral density of a Michelson interferometer with Kerr nonlinear arm cavities and resonant sideband extraction and find that quantum noise can be squeezed by arbitrary amounts even outside the cavity linewidth. Such a system might apply for future gravitational wave detectors or simply for a continuous wave source of squeezed states. 相似文献

We fabricated a new type of two-dimensional photonic crystal slab filter. The
resonant cavities were directly put into the waveguide arms. The optical
transmissions of the filters were measured and the results show that the optimized
two-channel filters give good intensity distribution at the output ports of the
waveguide. A minimum wavelength spacing of 5~nm of the filter outputs isrealized

The spectral position of the stop bands in photonic crystals based on artificial opals filled with an alcohol solution of potassium iodide is investigated. The energy-band structure of samples with quartz globules 230 nm in diameter is modeled based on the dispersion equation. The spectral position of the stop bands in the [111] direction at different solution concentrations is determined. The conditions for forbidden-band ??collapse?? are established.
