In this paper, we will introduce a new collection of subgroups; which induces a generalized Burnside ring. This collection arises from the normalizers of certain p-radical subgroups.  相似文献

Given a saturated fusion system on a finite p-group S we define a ring modeled on the Burnside ring of finite groups. We show that these rings have several properties in common. When is the fusion system of G we describe the relationship between these rings.  相似文献

Ifn2 the MoravaK-theoryK(n) * of an algebraicK-theory spectrumKX vanishes for any ring or schemeX. This is proved using thev n -complexes of Hopkins and Smith, together with the following theorem. The natural mapf:Q 0S0BGL+ factors through the space ImJ. In particularf *: * s K * annihilates CokerJ. These results are closely related to the Lichtenbaum-Quillen conjectures.Partially supported by an NSF grant.  相似文献

For finitely generated groups G and H, we prove that there is a weak equivalence G H (G × H) of ku-algebra spectra, where denotes the “unitary deformation K-theory” functor. Additionally, we give spectral sequences for computing the homotopy groups of G and HG in terms of connective K-theory and homology of spaces of G-representations.  相似文献

J. Dixmier asked in 1950 whether every non-amenable group admits uniformly bounded representations that cannot be unitarised. We provide such representations upon passing to extensions by abelian groups. This gives a new characterisation of amenability. Furthermore, we deduce that certain Burnside groups are non-unitarisable, answering a question raised by G. Pisier.  相似文献

For an arbitrary group G, a (semi-)Mackey functor is a pair of covariant and contravariant functors from the category of G-sets, and is regarded as a G-bivariant analog of a commutative (semi-)group. In this view, a G-bivariant analog of a (semi-)ring should be a (semi-)Tambara functor. A Tambara functor is firstly defined by Tambara, which he called a TNR-functor, when G is finite. As shown by Brun, a Tambara functor plays a natural role in the Witt–Burnside construction. It will be a natural question if there exist sufficiently many examples of Tambara functors, compared to the wide range of Mackey functors. In the first part of this article, we give a general construction of a Tambara functor from any Mackey functor, on an arbitrary group G. In fact, we construct a functor from the category of semi-Mackey functors to the category of Tambara functors. This functor gives a left adjoint to the forgetful functor, and can be regarded as a G-bivariant analog of the monoid-ring functor. In the latter part, when G is finite, we investigate relations with other Mackey-functorial constructions — crossed Burnside ring, Elliott?s ring of G-strings, Jacobson?s F-Burnside ring — all these lead to the study of the Witt–Burnside construction.  相似文献

We study arithmetical properties of homotopy groups of thel-adic completion of Quillen'sK-theory space of number field, with a view on the Dwyer-Friedlander comparison map into étaleK-theory. The relation of these groups toK-theory is a complete analogy to the relation of continuous étale cohomology to étale cohomology. We identify the torsion subgroup of the resulting term with the subgroup of divisible elements inK 2n (F). We prove that this term is sent isomorphically into étaleK-theory, giving some further evidence for the Lichtenbaum-Quillen conjectures.  相似文献

To anycontrolled space over the metric spaceB we can associate itsboundedly controlled algebraic K-theory, a functor designed to give information about the space of stable bounded concordances of manifolds homotopy equivalent toX. Generalizing a construction of D. R. Anderson, F. X. Connolly, S. Ferry, and E. K. Pedersen, we define another functor, calledcontinuously controlled A-theory, which depends only on thetopology of the control space, not itsmetric properties. In the special case whereB=R +, this functor is (more or less by definition) the same asproper A-theory. We prove that under certain conditions on the controlled space the natural transformation from boundedly controlledA-theory to continuously controlledA-theory is a weak homotopy equivalence, and hence defines a generalized homology theory. Continuously controlledK-theory is used in the approaches of G. Carlsson, E. K. Pedersen, and S. Ferry, S. Weinbergervto theK-theory Novikov conjecture.  相似文献

LetR be a commutative, semi-local ring,I 1, ...,I s ideals. In this paper, we define therelative Milnor K-groups of (R;I 1, ...,I s ),K p M (R;I 1, ...,I s ), and show that these groups have many of the properties of the usual MilnorK-groups of a field. In particular, assuming a weak condition on the ideals, we show thatK p M (R;I 1, ...,I s ) is isomorphic to the weightp portion of the relative QuillenK-groupK p (R;I 1, ...,I s ), after inverting (p–1)!. We also define the relative group homology of GL n (R;I 1, ...,I s ), and show thatK p M (R;I 1, ...,I s ) is isomorphic toH p (GLp(R;I 1, ...,I s ))/Im(H p (GL p–1 (R;I 1, ...,I s ))). Finally, we consider a generalization to the relative setting of Kato's conjecture asserting that the Galois symbol gives an isomorphism fromK p M (F)/l v to , and show that this relative version of Kato's conjecture implies the Quillen-Lichtenbaum conjectures asserting the Chern class:

We derive a family of prime ideals of the Burnside Tambara functor for a finite group G. In the case of cyclic groups, this family comprises the entire prime spectrum. We include some partial results towards the same result for a larger class of groups.  相似文献

We verify the weight-two portion of the Quillen-Lichtenbaum conjectures, relating the modn weight-twoK-groups of a field with the appropriate étale cohomology groups. This extends the work of Merkurjev and Suslin onK 2 of a field, and the works of Suslin and the author on the indecomposableK 3 of a field.Partially supported by the NSF.  相似文献

The SU(2) equivariantK 0-Theory of a class ofC*-algebras is studied. These algebras arise from nonhomogeneous actions of SU(2) or SO(3) on uniformly hyperfinite algebras. The problems are shown to be equivalent to studying nonhomogeneous random walks associated with infinite products of characters — in particular, properties related to unimodality and positivity. Concrete sufficient conditions are developed for reducing the problem to the maximal torus action, for which extensive results are known; these become necessary and sufficient when there is a bound on the degree of the characters, or a strong unimodality assumption is made. When the degrees are unbounded, examples are constructed to indicate the range of behavior possible when reduction to the maximal torus is impossible. Finally, limit ratio theorems are obtained for the distribution of irreducibles in products of characters having a unimodality property.Supported in part by an operating grant from NSERC, Canada.  相似文献

We establish a rational isomorphism between certain relative versions of Hermitian K-theory and the dihedral homology of simplicial Hermitian rings. This is the dihedral analogue of Goodwillie's result for cyclic homology and algebraic K-theory. In particular, we describe involutions on (negative) cyclic homology and the K-theory of simplicial rings. We show that Goodwillie's map from K-theory to negative cyclic homology can be chosen to preserve involutions. By work of Burghelea and Fiedorowicz the invariants of the involution on K-theory can be identified with symmetric Hermitian K-theory. Finally, we show how the author's chain complex defining dihedral homology can be extended to the left to capture the invariants of the involution on negative cyclic homology.Supported by New Mexico State University, grant No. RC90-051.  相似文献

For a noncommutative Zariski ringR with associated graded ringG(R) of finite global dimension there is an injectionK o(R) K o (G(R)). The result applies to certain rings of differential operators, in particular to the ring of germs of microlocal differential operators that also provides an example of a nonpositively filtered Zariski ring.Research fellow at UIA, supported by a grant from the Province of Antwerp.Supported by an NFWO grant.  相似文献
