The spallation neutron source induced by intermediate energy proton nucleus interaction is a key point and has not solved yet for the transmutation and applications. To develop the high power proton linear accelerator for the Accelerator Driven System(ADS)program,the preliminary design of the Pi mode accelerating structure(PIMS)has been carried out.It is estimated that PIMS would heat up to 80 ℃ for low duty cycle(0.1%)without water-cooling,which is not acceptable,thus water-cooling is demanded.The structure stability for the high duty cycle or even for CW operation is crucially important for the ADS application.Therefore,thermal analysis with water-cooling for a high duty accelerator in our ADS research is performed to control the frequency shift caused by a temperature rise. 相似文献

A comparative analysis and optimization of energy efficiency for proton and ion beams in ADS systems is performed via simulation using a GEANT4 code with account for energy consumption for different accelerator types. It is demonstrated that for light nuclei, beginning from 7Li, with energies above 1 GeV/nucleon, ion beams are considerably (several times) more efficient than the 1–3 GeV proton beam. The possibility of achieving energy deposition equivalent to 1 GeV protons in a quasi-infinite uranium target with higher efficiency (and twice as small accelerator size) in the case of acceleration of light ions is substantiated. 相似文献

The ADS accelerator in China is a Continuous-Wave(CW) proton linac with 1.5 Ge V beam energy,10 m A beam current, and 15 MW beam power. To meet the extremely low beam loss rate and high reliability requirements, it is very important to study the beam halo caused by beam mismatch, which is one major sources of beam loss. To avoid envelope instability, the phase advances per period are all smaller than 90 degrees in the main linac design. In this paper, simulation results of the emittance growth and the envelope oscillations caused by mismatch in the main linac section are presented. To meet the emittance growth requirement, the transverse and longitudinal mismatch factors should be smaller than 0.4 and 0.3, respectively. 相似文献

XAL is a high level accelerator application framework that was originally developed by the Spallation Neutron Source(SNS), Oak Ridge National Laboratory. It has an advanced design concept and has been adopted by many international accelerator laboratories. Adopting XAL for ADS is a key subject in the long term. This paper will present the modifications to the original XAL applications for ADS. The work includes a proper relational database schema modification in order to better suit the requirements of ADS configuration data, redesigning and re-implementing db2 xal application, and modifying the virtual accelerator application. In addition, the new device types and new device attributes for ADS online modeling purpose are also described here. 相似文献

While a considerable and world-wide growth of the nuclear share in the global energy mix is desirable for many reasons, a
major concern or objection is the long-term burden that is constituted by the radiotoxic waste from the spent fuel. The concept
of Partitioning & Transmutation, a scientific and technological answer, is therefore of high interest. Its deployment may
use dedicated “Transmuter” or “Burner” reactors, using a fast neutron spectrum. For the transmutation of waste with a large
content (up to 50%) of (very long-lived) Minor Actinides, a sub-critical reactor, using an external neutron source is a solution
of high interest. It is constituted by coupling a proton accelerator, a spallation target and a subcritical core. This promising

In the China ADS(CIADS) proton accelerator, multipacting is an issue of concern for the superconducting cavities. The parallel codes Omega3 P and Track3 P, developed at SLAC under the support of the DOE Sci DAC program, have been used to calculate the electromagnetic field distribution and to analyze the multipacting barriers of such cavities. In this paper, two types of 162.5 MHz half wave resonator cavities, HWR-010(cylinder type with β of 0.10) and HWR-015(taper type with β of 0.15) have been analyzed, and the results of the multipacting analyses show that the resonant electrons occur at different regions with different accelerating gradients. The two-point 1st order multipacting on the short plate has also been researched and discussed. 相似文献

Accelerator-driven systems (ADS) have evoked lot of interest the world over because of their capability to incinerate the
MA (minor actinides) and LLFP (long-lived fission products) radiotoxic waste and their ability to utilize thorium as an alternative
nuclear fuel. One of the main subsystems of ADS is a high energy (∼1 GeV) and high current (∼30 mA) CW proton Linac. The accelerator
for ADS should have high efficiency and reliability and very low beam losses to allow hands-on maintenance. With these criteria,
the beam dynamics simulations for a 1 GeV, 30 mA proton Linac has been done. The Linac consists of normal-conducting radio-frequency
quadrupole (RFQ), drift tube linac (DTL) and coupled cavity drift tube Linac (CCDTL) structures that accelerate the beam to
about 100 MeV followed by superconducting (SC) elliptical cavities, which accelerate the beam from 100 MeV to 1 GeV. The details

It is proposed to construct a spallation neutron source (SNS) at Centre for Advanced Technology (CAT) based on a 1 GeV proton
synchrotron with 100 MeV H− LINAC as injector. Additionally, the LINAC can form the first 100 MeV part of a 1 GeV proton LINAC to be built in future
for accelerator driven system (ADS) applications. We are exploring a configuration of the 100 MeV LINAC which will consist
of an H− ion source, a 4–6 MeV RFQ followed either by a 20 MeV drift tube LINAC (DTL) and 100 MeV separated function drift tube LINAC
(SDTL) or a coupled cavity drift tube LINAC (CCDTL) structure. In this paper, we present the results of our preliminary physics
design studies of the RFQ-SDTL, RFQ-CCDTL and RFQ-DTL-SDTL configurations. The design of the 4.5 MeV RFQ is discussed along
with the matching sections between the RFQ-SDTL/DTL and RFQ-CCDTL. The choice of the accelerator configuration and that of
various parameters of the individual accelerator structures under consideration are discussed. The design objectives are to
arrive at a configuration which eases heat removal for CW operation and which is less prone to halo formation in order to

An accelerator-driven subcritical system(ADS) project was launched in China in 2011, aiming to design and build an ADS demonstration facility with the capability of more than 1000 MW thermal power. The driver linac is defined to be a 10 m A current of high energy protons at 1.5 Ge V in continuous wave operation mode. To meet the extremely high power and intense beam accelerator requirements, non-interceptive monitors for the beam transverse profile are required for this proton linac. Taking advantage of the residual gas as active material, the Beam Induced Fluorescence(BIF) monitor exploits gas-excited fluorescence in the visible spectrum region for transverse profile measurements. The advantages of this non-intercepting method are that nothing is installed in the vacuum pipe,component design is compact and there is no need for expensive signal processing electronics. Beam experiments have been performed under constant beam conditions. The helium spectrum has been verified with different optical filters, showing that a proper optical band-pass filter covering 400–500 nm is necessary for fluorescence experiments with helium. By changing gas pressure, it is shown that gas pressure is proportional to the signal amplitude but has no influence on detected profile width. Finally, a comparison experiment between the BIF monitor and a wire scanner shows that the detected profile width results of both methods agree well. 相似文献

利用理论模拟和实验手段对加速器驱动的快中子堆消除常规反应堆排放的核废料碘进行了研究.实验中,利用加速器加速质子使其能量达到1.0GeV,并轰击重金属铅靶,利用靶中产生的次级中子诱发核废料129I的嬗变,使其嬗变为稳定同位素130Xe.对实验嬗变效率进行了理论模拟验证,进而拓宽到研究的驱动堆体系中.堆芯区的核燃料为乏燃料铀和钚,靶和初级热交换剂为液态铅. 相似文献

Long-lived isotopes can be transmuted into stable or short-lived elements either by neutron captures or neutron induced fission. The need of a large excess of neutrons has led to the use of accelerator driven sources (ADS). A series of experiments were carried out at the Synchrophasotron/Nuclotron of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) Dubna, using protons of 1.0 GeV. Solid Lead and Uranium targets surrounded by paraffin moderator were irradiated. On the outer surface of the moderator a number of Solid State Track Detectors were placed to monitor neutron spatial distribution. The results showed that the maximum neutron production was reached within the range of one to two proton mean free paths in the target. Then decreasing neutron production follows the proton beam attenuation along the target. Moreover, the results showed both targets neutron production evolution along the target, to be the same. However, neutron flux per incident proton is depended on the target mass, which was found to be higher for the heavier target. 相似文献

质子辐射生物学效应是太空放射生物学和质子束放疗研究的重要基础,可为空间环境下人员的危险性评估以及质子治疗优化设计提供科学依据。依托加速器建立相应的生物样本辐照技术是开展此类研究的前提条件。中国原子能科学研究院最近建立的100 MeV强流质子回旋加速器提供的中能质子束流为目前国内能量最高,特别适合用于太空放射生物学和质子治疗相关研究。本研究中,利用在束和离线等多种手段建立了中能质子束流诊断和剂量测量方法,对加速器引出的100 MeV质子照射野大小、均匀性等束流品质以及剂量测量系统准确性进行了分析和评估。结果表明,对光子剂量响应好的LiF(Mg, Ti)热释光探测器,对90 MeV质子同样具有良好的剂量响应关系,可作为中能质子剂量准确性评估的手段之一。在5.0 cm×5.0 cm照射野范围内,加速器引出的100 MeV质子束流的均匀性好于90%,在线剂量测量系统准确性好于93%,束流品质和剂量测量条件基本满足辐射生物学的要求,可为质子辐射生物学效应研究的开展提供可靠保障。 相似文献

In recent years, there has been an increasing worldwide interest in accelerator driven systems (ADS) due to their perceived
superior safety characteristics and their potential for burning actinides and long-lived fission products. Indian interest
in ADS has an additional dimension, which is related to our planned large-scale thorium utilization for future nuclear energy
generation.
The physics of ADS is quite different from that of critical reactors. As such, physics studies on ADS reactors are necessary
for gaining an understanding of these systems. Development of theoretical tools and experimental facilities for studying the
physics of ADS reactors constitute important aspect of the ADS development program at BARC. This includes computer codes for
burnup studies based on transport theory and Monte Carlo methods, codes for studying the kinetics of ADS and sub-critical
facilities driven by 14 MeV neutron generators for ADS experiments and development of sub-criticality measurement methods.
The paper discusses the physics issues specific to ADS reactors and presents the status of the reactor physics program and
some of the ADS concepts under study.

针对加速器驱动次临界系统(ADS)中强流质子直线加速器,即ADS注入器Ⅱ,设计了采用现场可编程门阵列(FPGA)切束技术的加速器快保护控制系统。当系统检测到束流异常故障信号时能快速切断束流,并上传故障信息,方便故障排查和后期数据分析。该控制器基于FPGA设计,可实现光纤通信、串口通信、逻辑电平信号输出等功能。其中,光纤通信功能用于控制斩波器电源快速切断束流;串口通信用于实时传输设备状态信息;逻辑电平信号输出用于控制继电器产生开关量信号去远程控制保护设备,以防止运行设备的损害。通过现场运行测试,切束响应时间在10 s之内,达到安全设计要求。 相似文献
