This research seeks to propose innovative routing and scheduling strategies to help city couriers reduce operating costs and enhance service level. The strategies are realized by constructing a new type of routing and scheduling problem. The problem directly takes into account the inherent physical and operating constraints associated with riding in city distribution networks, which makes the problem involve multiple objectives and visiting specified nodes and arcs. Through network transformations, this study first formulates the city-courier routing and scheduling problem as a multi-objective multiple traveling salesman problem with strict time windows (MOMTSPSTW) that is NP-hard and new to the literature, and then proposes a multi-objective Scatter Search framework that seeks to find the set of Pareto-optimal solutions to the problem. Various new and improved sub-procedures are embedded in the solution framework. This is followed by an empirical study that shows and analyzes the results of applying the proposed method to a real-life city-courier routing and scheduling problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we address a variant of the vehicle routing problem called the vehicle routing problem with time windows and multiple routes. It considers that a given vehicle can be assigned to more than one route per planning period. We propose a new exact algorithm for this problem. Our algorithm is iterative and it relies on a pseudo-polynomial network flow model whose nodes represent time instants, and whose arcs represent feasible vehicle routes. This algorithm was tested on a set of benchmark instances from the literature. The computational results show that our method is able to solve more instances than the only other exact method described so far in the literature, and it clearly outperforms this method in terms of computing time.  相似文献

The multi-criteria scheduling problem is one of the main research subjects in the field of multiple objectives programming. Several procedures have been developed to deal with this type of problem where some conflicting criteria have to be optimized simultaneously. The aim of our paper is to propose an aggregation procedure that integrates three different criteria to find the best sequence in a flow shop production environment. The compromise programming model and the concept of satisfaction functions will be utilized to integrate explicitly the manager’s preferences according to the deviations between the achievement and the aspiration levels of the following criteria: Makespan, total flow time and total tardiness.  相似文献

We investigate the vehicle routing with demand allocation problem where the decision-maker jointly optimizes the location of delivery sites, the assignment of customers to (preferably convenient) delivery sites, and the routing of vehicles operated from a central depot to serve customers at their designated sites. We propose an effective branch-and-price (B&P) algorithm that is demonstrated to greatly outperform the use of commercial branch-and-bound/cut solvers such as CPLEX. Central to the efficacy of the proposed B&P algorithm is the development of a specialized dynamic programming procedure that extends works on elementary shortest path problems with resource constraints in order to solve the more complex column generation pricing subproblem. Our computational study demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed approach using a set of 60 problem instances. Moreover, the proposed methodology has the merit of providing optimal solutions in run times that are significantly shorter than those reported for decomposition-based heuristics in the literature.  相似文献

In this paper, we address a bi-objective vehicle routing problem in which the total length of routes is minimized as well as the balance of routes, i.e. the difference between the maximal route length and the minimal route length. We propose a meta-heuristic method based on an evolutionary algorithm involving classical multi-objective operators. To improve its efficiency, two mechanisms, which favor the diversification of the search, have been added. First, an elitist diversification mechanism is used in cooperation with classical diversification methodologies. Second, a parallel model designed to take into account the elitist diversification is proposed. Our method is tested on standard benchmarks for the vehicle routing problem. The contribution of the introduced mechanisms is evaluated by different performance metrics. All the experimentations indicate a strict improvement of the generated Pareto set.  相似文献

We consider here a NP-hard problem related to the Routing and Wavelength Assignment (RWA) problem in optical networks, dealing with Scheduled Lightpath Demands (SLDs). An SLD is a connection demand between two nodes of the network, during a certain time. Given a set of SLDs, we want to assign a lightpath, i.e. a routing path and a wavelength, to each SLD, so that the total number of required wavelengths is minimized. The constraints are the following: a same wavelength must be assigned all along the edges of the routing path of any SLD; at any time, a given wavelength on a given edge of the network cannot be used to satisfy more than one SLD. To solve this problem, we design a post-optimization method improving the solutions provided by a heuristic. The experimental results show that this post-optimization method is quite efficient to reduce the number of necessary wavelengths.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a solution method for a bi-objective vehicle routing problem, called the vehicle routing problem with route balancing (VRPRB), in which the total length and balance of the route lengths are the objectives under consideration. The method, called Target Aiming Pareto Search, is defined to hybridize a multi-objective genetic algorithm for the VRPRB using local searches. The method is based on repeated local searches with their own appropriate goals. We also propose an implementation of the Target Aiming Pareto Search using tabu searches, which are efficient meta-heuristics for the vehicle routing problem. Assessments with standard metrics on classical benchmarks demonstrate the importance of hybridization as well as the efficiency of the Target Aiming Pareto Search.  相似文献

We compare two different models for multicriterion routing in stochastic time-dependent networks: the classic “time-adaptive” model and the more flexible “history-adaptive” one. This article introduces a new exact algorithm for the capacitated vehicle routing problem with stochastic demands (CVRPSD). The CVRPSD can be formulated as a set partitioning problem and it is shown that the associated column generation subproblem can be solved using a dynamic programming scheme. The optimal routing of a single vehicle with limited capacity that delivers one product to n clients according to a predefined client sequence can be determined using dynamic programming. In the present paper we propose and investigate three practical variations of this problem: (i) the case of multiple-product deliveries when each product is stored in its own compartment in the vehicle, (ii) the case of multiple-product deliveries when all products are stored together in the vehicle’s single compartment, and (iii) the case in which the vehicle picks up from and delivers a single product to each customer. Suitable dynamic programming algorithms that find the optimal routing of the vehicle are developed for each case. The efficiency of the algorithms is studied by solving large problem sets.  相似文献

Manpower scheduling is an intricate problem in production and service environments with the purpose of generating fair schedules that consider employers’ objectives and employees’ preferences as much as possible. However, sometimes, vagueness of information related to employers’ objectives and employees’ preferences leads to the fuzzy nature of the problem. This paper presents a multi-objective manpower scheduling model regarding the lack of clarity on the target values of employers’ objectives and employees’ preferences. Hence, a fuzzy goal programming model is developed for the presented model. Afterwards, two fuzzy solution approaches are used to convert the fuzzy goal programming model to two single-objective models. Finally, the results obtained by both single-objective models are compared with each other to select the solution that has the greatest degree of the satisfaction level of employers’ objectives and employees’ preferences.  相似文献

This paper deals with the bi-objective multi-dimensional knapsack problem. We propose the adaptation of the core concept that is effectively used in single-objective multi-dimensional knapsack problems. The main idea of the core concept is based on the “divide and conquer” principle. Namely, instead of solving one problem with n variables we solve several sub-problems with a fraction of n variables (core variables). The quality of the obtained solution can be adjusted according to the size of the core and there is always a trade off between the solution time and the quality of solution. In the specific study we define the core problem for the multi-objective multi-dimensional knapsack problem. After defining the core we solve the bi-objective integer programming that comprises only the core variables using the Multicriteria Branch and Bound algorithm that can generate the complete Pareto set in small and medium size multi-objective integer programming problems. A small example is used to illustrate the method while computational and economy issues are also discussed. Computational experiments are also presented using available or appropriately modified benchmarks in order to examine the quality of Pareto set approximation with respect to the solution time. Extensions to the general multi-objective case as well as to the computation of the exact solution are also mentioned.  相似文献

We consider the problem of finding the optimal routing of a single vehicle that starts its route from a depot and picks up from and delivers K different products to N customers that are served according to a predefined customer sequence. The vehicle is allowed during its route to return to the depot to unload returned products and restock with new products. The items of all products are of the same size. For each customer the demands for the products that are delivered by the vehicle and the quantity of the products that is returned to the vehicle are discrete random variables with known joint distribution. Under a suitable cost structure, it is shown that the optimal policy that serves all customers has a specific threshold-type structure. We also study a corresponding infinite-time horizon problem in which the service of the customers is not completed when the last customer has been serviced but it continues indefinitely with the same customer order. For each customer, the joint distribution of the quantities that are delivered and the quantity that is picked up is the same at each cycle. The discounted-cost optimal policy and the average-cost optimal policy have the same structure as the optimal policy in the finite-horizon problem. Numerical results are given that illustrate the structural results.  相似文献

We generalize the standard vehicle routing problem with time windows by allowing both traveling times and traveling costs to be time-dependent functions. In our algorithm, we use a local search to determine routes of the vehicles. When we evaluate a neighborhood solution, we must compute an optimal time schedule for each route. We show that this subproblem can be efficiently solved by dynamic programming, which is incorporated in the local search algorithm. The neighborhood of our local search consists of slight modifications of the standard neighborhoods called 2- opt*, cross exchange and Or-opt. We propose an algorithm that evaluates solutions in these neighborhoods more efficiently than the ones computing the dynamic programming from scratch by utilizing the information from the past dynamic programming recursion used to evaluate the current solution. We further propose a filtering method that restricts the search space in the neighborhoods to avoid many solutions having no prospect of improvement. We then develop an iterated local search algorithm that incorporates all the above ingredients. Finally we report computational results of our iterated local search algorithm compared against existing methods, and confirm the effectiveness of the restriction of the neighborhoods and the benefits of the proposed generalization.  相似文献

We investigate a combined routing and scheduling problem for the maintenance of electricity networks. In electricity networks power lines must be regularly maintained to ensure a high quality of service. For safety reasons a power line must be physically disconnected from the network before maintenance work can be performed. After completing maintenance work the power line must be reconnected. Each maintenance job therefore consists of multiple tasks which must be performed at different locations in the network. The goal is to assign each task to a worker and to determine a schedule such that the downtimes of power lines and the travel effort of workers are minimized. For solving this problem, we combine a Large Neighborhood Search meta-heuristic with mathematical programming techniques. The method is evaluated on a large set of test instances which are derived from network data of a German electricity provider.  相似文献

In many rural areas in Germany pupils on the way to school are a large if not the largest group of customers in public transport. If all schools start more or less at the same time then the bus companies need a high number of vehicles to serve the customer peak in the morning rush hours. In this article, we present an integer programming model for the integrated coordination of the school starting times and the public bus services. We discuss preprocessing techniques, model reformulations, and cutting planes that can be incorporated into a branch-and-cut algorithm. Computational results show that in our test counties a much lower number of buses would be sufficient if the schools start at different times.  相似文献

As a result of rapid developments in production technologies in recent years, flexible job-shop scheduling problems have become increasingly significant. This paper deals with two NP-hard optimization problems: flexible job-shop scheduling problems (FJSPs) that encompass routing and sequencing sub-problems, and the FJSPs with process plan flexibility (FJSP-PPFs) that additionally include the process plan selection sub-problem. The study is carried out in two steps. In the first step, a mixed-integer linear programming model (MILP-1) is developed for FJSPs and compared to an alternative model in the literature (Model F) in terms of computational efficiency. In the second step, one other mixed-integer linear programming model, a modification of MILP-1, for the FJSP-PPFs is presented along with its computational results on hypothetically generated test problems.  相似文献

We review research on ship routing and scheduling and related problems during the new millennium and provide four basic models in this domain. The volume of research in this area about doubles every decade as does the number of research outlets. We have found over a hundred new refereed papers on this topic during the last decade. Problems of wider scope have been addressed as well as more specialized ones. However, complex critical problems remain wide open and provide challenging opportunities for future research.  相似文献

In this article, a visual interactive approach based on a new greedy randomised adaptive memory programming search (GRAMPS) algorithm is proposed to solve the heterogeneous fixed fleet vehicle routing problem (HFFVRP) and a new extension of the HFFVRP, which is called heterogeneous fixed fleet vehicle routing problem with backhauls (HFFVRPB). This problem involves two different sets of customers. Backhaul customers are pickup points and linehaul customers are delivery points that are to be serviced from a single depot by a heterogeneous fixed fleet of vehicles, each of which is restricted in the capacity it can carry, with different variable travelling costs.  相似文献

This paper considers the mobile facility routing and scheduling problem with stochastic demand (MFRSPSD). The MFRSPSD simultaneously determines the route and schedule of a fleet of mobile facilities which serve customers with uncertain demand to minimize the total cost generated during the planning horizon. The problem is formulated as a two-stage stochastic programming model, in which the first stage decision deals with the temporal and spatial movement of MFs and the second stage handles how MFs serve customer demands. An algorithm based on the multicut version of the L-shaped method is proposed in which several lower bound inequalities are developed and incorporated into the master program. The computational results show that the algorithm yields a tighter lower bound and converges faster to the optimal solution. The result of a sensitivity analysis further indicates that in dealing with stochastic demand the two-stage stochastic programming approach has a distinctive advantage over the model considering only the average demand in terms of cost reduction.  相似文献
