In this paper, a new one-dimensional space-fractional Boussinesq equation is proposed. Two novel numerical methods with a nonlocal operator (using nodal basis functions) for the space-fractional Boussinesq equation are derived. These methods are based on the finite volume and finite element methods, respectively. Finally, some numerical results using fractional Boussinesq equation with the maximally positive skewness and the maximally negative skewness are given to demonstrate the strong potential of these approaches. The novel simulation techniques provide excellent tools for practical problems. These new numerical models can be extended to two- and three-dimensional fractional space-fractional Boussinesq equations in future research where we plan to apply these new numerical models for simulating the tidal water table fluctuations in a coastal aquifer.  相似文献

The paper studies the existence and uniqueness of local solutions and the blowup of solutions to the initial boundary value problem for improved Boussinesq type equation uttuxxuxxtt=σ(u)xx. By a Galerkin approximation scheme combined with the continuation of solutions step by step and the Fourier transform method, it proves that under rather mild conditions on initial data, the above-mentioned problem admits a unique generalized solution uW2,∞([0,T];H2(0,1)) as long as . In particular, when σ(s)=asp, where a≠0 is a real number and p>1 is an integer, specially a<0 if p is an odd number, the solution blows up in finite time. Moreover, two examples of blowup are obtained numerically.  相似文献

A numerical method is developed to solve the nonlinear Boussinesq equation using the quintic B-spline collocation method. Applying the Von Neumann stability analysis, the proposed method is shown to be unconditionally stable. An example has been considered to illustrate the efficiency of the method developed.  相似文献

In this study, numerical simulations of the improved Boussinesq equation are obtained using two finite difference schemes and two finite element methods, based on the second‐and third‐order time discretization. The methods are tested on the problems of propagation of a soliton and interaction of two solitons. After the L error norm is used to measure differences between the exact and numerical solutions, the results obtained by the proposed methods are compared with recently published results. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, many types of exact solutions of a first-order nonlinear ordinary differential equation called Fan sub-equation, is further investigated by using bifurcation method of dynamical systems. As a result, more types of exact solutions to Sawada-Kotera (SK) equation are obtained, which include more general soliton solutions, kink solutions, triangular function solutions, Jacobian elliptic function solutions with double periods and so on.  相似文献

In this paper, we present the approximate solution of damped Boussinesq equation using extended Raviart–Thomas mixed finite element method. In this method, the numerical solution of this equation is obtained using triangular meshes. Also, for discretization in time direction, we use an implicit finite difference scheme. In addition, error estimation and stability analysis of both methods are shown. Finally, some numerical examples are considered to confirm the theoretical results. A predictor–corrector (P-C) scheme is applied successfully to a nonlinear method arising from the use of rational approximants to the matrix-exponential term in a three-time level recurrence relation. The resulting nonlinear finite-difference scheme, which is analyzed for local truncation error and stability, is solved using a P-C scheme, in which the predictor and the corrector are explicit schemes of order 2. This scheme is accelerated by using a modification (MPC) in which the already evaluated values are used for the corrector. The behaviour of the P-C/MPC schemes is tested numerically on the Boussinesq equation already known from the bibliography free of boundary conditions. The numerical results are derived for both the bad and the good Boussinesq equation and conclusions from the relevant known results are derived.   相似文献

In this article, we extend the recently developed weak Galerkin method to solve the second‐order hyperbolic wave equation. Many nice features of the weak Galerkin method have been demonstrated for elliptic, parabolic, and a few other model problems. This is the initial exploration of the weak Galerkin method for solving the wave equation. Here we successfully developed and established the stability and convergence analysis for the weak Galerkin method for solving the wave equation. Numerical experiments further support the theoretical analysis. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 33: 868–884, 2017  相似文献

Nonconforming finite element method is studied for a linearized backward fully-discrete scheme of the Ginzburg–Landau equation with the quadrilateral element. The unconditional convergent result of order O(h + τ) in the broken H1-norm is deduced rigorously based on a splitting technique, by which the ratio between the subdivision parameter h and the time step τ is removed. Furthermore, numerical results are provided to confirm the theoretical analysis. The analysis developed herein can be regarded as a framework to deal with the unconditional convergent analysis of the Ginzburg–Landau equation for other known low order nonconforming elements.  相似文献

In this paper a solution of the nonlinear Boussinesq equation is presented using the potential similarity transformation method. The equation is first written in a conserved form, a potential function is then assumed reducing it to a system of equations which is further solved through the group transformation method. New transformations are found.  相似文献

An a posteriori error analysis for Boussinesq equations is derived in this article. Then we compare this new estimate with a previous one developed for a regularized version of Boussinesq equations in a previous work. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. In this article, we propose a Fourier pseudospectral method for solving the generalized improved Boussinesq equation. We prove the convergence of the semi‐discrete scheme in the energy space. For various power nonlinearities, we consider three test problems concerning the propagation of a single solitary wave, the interaction of two solitary waves and a solution that blows up in finite time. We compare our numerical results with those given in the literature in terms of numerical accuracy. The numerical comparisons show that the Fourier pseudospectral method provides highly accurate results. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, an explicit multistep Galerkin finite element method for the modified regularized long wave equation is studied. The discretization of this equation in space is by linear finite elements, and the time discretization is based on explicit multistep schemes. Stability analysis and error estimates of our numerical scheme are derived. Numerical experiments indicate the validation of the scheme by L2– and L– error norms and three invariants of motion.4 © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, we consider the initial boundary value problem for generalized logarithmic improved Boussinesq equation. By using the Galerkin method, logarithmic Sobolev inequality, logarithmic Gronwall inequality, and compactness theorem, we show the existence of global weak solution to the problem. By potential well theory, we show the norm of the solution will grow up as an exponential function as time goes to infinity under some suitable conditions. Furthermore, for the generalized logarithmic improved Boussinesq equation with damped term, we obtain the decay estimate of the energy. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to a newly developed weak Galerkin finite element method with the stabilization term for a linear fourth order parabolic equation, where weakly defined Laplacian operator over discontinuous functions is introduced. Priori estimates are developed and analyzed in L2 and an H2 type norm for both semi‐discrete and fully discrete schemes. And finally, numerical examples are provided to confirm the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this article, a new weak Galerkin mixed finite element method is introduced and analyzed for the Helmholtz equation with large wave numbers. The stability and well‐posedness of the method are established for any wave number k without mesh size constraint. Allowing the use of discontinuous approximating functions makes weak Galerkin mixed method highly flexible in term of little restrictions on approximations and meshes. In the weak Galerkin mixed finite element formulation, approximation functions can be piecewise polynomials with different degrees on different elements and meshes can consist elements with different shapes. Suboptimal order error estimates in both discrete H1 and L2 norms are established for the weak Galerkin mixed finite element solutions. Numerical examples are tested to support the theory.  相似文献
