We study quantum Hall interferometers in which the interference loop encircles a quantum anti-dot. We base our study on thermodynamic considerations, which we believe reflect the essential aspects of interference transport phenomena. We find that similar to the more conventional Fabry–Perot quantum Hall interferometers, in which the interference loop forms a quantum dot, the anti-dot interferometer is affected by the electro-static Coulomb interaction between the edge modes defining the loop. We show that in the Aharonov–Bohm regime, in which effects of fractional statistics should be visible, is easier to access in interferometers based on anti-dots than in those based on dots. We discuss the relevance of our results to recent measurements on anti-dots interferometers. 相似文献

Using the Jordan-Wigner transformation and cut-off approximation, the Letter studies the one-dimensional spin-1/2 XXZ double chain with z-directional uniform long-range interactions in the external magnetic field. Thermodynamic properties as the Helmholtz free energy, internal energy, specific heat and magnetization of the system are obtained. The first and second-order phase transition of the system at a finite temperature are also given. Our results agree with those of the other literatures. 相似文献

A numerical and analytical investigation of thermodynamic properties of a magnetized superconducting quantum cylinder has been carried out. The dependence of the difference in the magnetizations of the superconducting and normal phases on the parameters of the nanotube, temperature, and magnetic field has been analyzed. The jump in the heat capacity of the superconducting and normal states at the critical temperature has been calculated. The fluctuation contribution to the thermodynamic properties of the nanotube at a temperature above the transition point has been studied. 相似文献

The current controversy over the need for an
experimental test of String Theory is considered. We report recent
experiments on quasi-bound electrons in crossed electric and
magnetic fields, in which states of very large electric dipole
moment are excited. The excited electron is confined to one side
of the atomic nucleus in the outer well of a controllable
double-well potential. These states are discussed in relation to a
recent theoretical proposal to test the spatial non-commutativity
underpinning String Theory by studying Penning orbits of Rydberg

The exact solutions for the energy spectrum of the XX model with a periodic
coupling and an external transverse magnetic field h are obtained. The
diagonalization procedure is discussed, and analytical and numerical solutions
are given. Using the solutions for period-two coupling, the free energy,
entropy, and specific heat are calculated as functions of temperature and
applied transverse external magnetic field. Their expressions show that below
a particular value v and above a value u of the magnetic field |h|, the
entropy and the specific heat vanish exponentially in the low temperature

Exact results for the thermodynamic quantities of the one-dimensional classical Heisenberg model with nearest- and next-nearest-neighbor exchange interactions are obtained by means of the numerical transfer matrix method. For a wide range of exchange constants, the system exhibits helical short-range order on which we focus our attention. We find that the Fourier-transformed spin correlation function shows a maximum with asymmetric shape at the characteristic wave-number ±q
m (0, ±). The correlation length defined as the inverse of the width atq=q
m obeys a simple scaling law and shows a power-law singularity at zero temperature. Results for the heat capacity and the susceptibility are also presented and discussed in connection with the helical short-range order. 相似文献

The two-dimensional GaAs parabolic quantum dot (QD) is investigated in the static fluctuation approximation (SFA) where both the magnetic field and the electron-electron interaction are fully taken into account. The thermodynamic properties of the system are computed as functions of the temperature and magnetic field for different numbers of electrons (N). It is noted that the mean internal energy increases with increasing number of electrons and magnetic field. This increase is not smooth, and a sudden change in slope is observed at a certain value of magnetic field for N≥4. It is found that the magnetization has sharp jumps for N≥4; for N≤3 a smooth monotonic diamagnetism is exhibited. A sharp peak is observed in the specific heat when the magnetic field is increased. It is found that the lowest-state transitions occur at a critical value of magnetic field. These transitions appear in the mean internal energy and magnetization. 相似文献

The recently proposed model of statistical associated-fluid theory (SAFT) by Tang, Y. and Lu, B. C.-Y. (2000, Fluid Phase Equilibria, 171, 27) is applied to phase diagram calculations of non-associating and associating linear chain molecules in which n-alkanes and n-alkenes (representing the non-associating type) and water, 1-alkanols, acids and amines (representing the associating type) are investigated. For polar molecules, the dipole-dipole interaction is taken into consideration. Overall, the proposed model yields similar accuracy to the original SAFT model, It is found that the volume and energy parameters of non-associating chain segments in the same family follow certain linear relations with the carbon number. Remarkably, these linear relations are found to hold equally well in associating chain molecules. These observations suggest that SAFT may be implemented in a more predictive manner. Furthermore, the inclusion of the contribution from dipole-dipole interaction improves the calculated values for strong polar molecules like water. 相似文献

We construct the quantum versions of the monodromy matrices of KdV theory. The traces of these quantum monodromy matrices, which will be called as “T-operators,” act in highest weight Virasoro modules. TheT-operators depend on the spectral parameter λ and their expansion around λ=∞ generates an infinite set of commuting Hamiltonians of the quantum KdV system. TheT-operators can be viewed as the continuous field theory versions of the commuting transfermatrices of integrable lattice theory. In particular, we show that for the values $c = 1 - 3\frac{{3(2n + 1)^2 }}{{2n + 3}}$ ,n=1,2,3 .... of the Virasoro central charge the eigenvalues of theT-operators satisfy a closed system of functional equations sufficient for determining the spectrum. For the ground-state eigenvalue these functional equations are equivalent to those of the massless Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz for the minimal conformal field theoryM 2,2n+3; in general they provide a way to generalize the technique of the Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz to the excited states. We discuss a generalization of our approach to the cases of massive field theories obtained by perturbing these Conformal Field Theories with the operator Φ1,3. The relation of theseT-operators to the boundary states is also briefly described. 相似文献
