Finite p-Groups Whose Abelian Subgroups Have a Trivial Intersection

A subgroup H of a finite group G is called a TI-subgroup if H ∩ H^x = 1 or H for all x ∈ G. In this paper, a complete classification for finite p-groups, in which all abelian subgroups are TI-subgroups, is given.

Solutions for the prescribing mean curvature equation

By variational methods, for a kind of Yamabe problem whose scalar curvature vanishes in the unit ball BN and on the boundary S^N-1 the mean curvature is prescribed, we construct multi-peak solutions whose maxima are located on the boundary as the parameter tends to 0^＋ under certain assumptions. We also obtain the asymptotic behaviors of the solutions.     

SU(3) limit ofsdgpf interacting boson model

TheSU(3) limit of thesdg-pf interacting boson model is proposed. Applications to the collective states of^236,238U are discussed. It is shown that the spectra can be well described by the model. Generic diffeomorphisms away from homoclinic tangencies and heterodimensional cycles

The C ¹ density conjecture of Palis asserts that diffeomorphisms exhibiting either a homoclinic tangency or a heterodimensional cycle are C ¹ dense in the complement of the C ¹ closure of hyperbolic systems. The NCTM Process Standards and the Five Es of Science: Connecting Math and Science

This study investigates defining characteristics among the process standards of the Principles and Standards for School Mathematics and the 5 Es from the National Science Education Standards and the Inquiry and the National Science Education Standards. These characteristics are used to demonstrate similarities and differences between the learning of mathematics and science, discuss implications from such, and argue for the integration of mathematics and science curriculum and instruction.     

Finite groups in which elements of the same order outside the center are conjugate

We prove that if G is a finite group in which the elements of the same order outside the center are conjugate,then either G is abelian or G(?)S_3.     

Extrapolation of the Nédélec element for the Maxwell equations by the mixed finite element method

In this paper, we use the integral-identity argument to obtain asymptotic error expansions for the mixed finite element approximation of the Maxwell equations on a rectangular mesh. The extrapolation method is applied to improve the accuracy of the approximation via an interpolation postprocessing technique. With the extrapolation, the approximation accuracy can be improved from O(h) to O(h ⁴) in the L ²-norm. Illustrative numerical results are given to demonstrate the higher order accuracy of the extrapolation method. A New Inequality for Weakly （K1, K2）-Quasiregular Mappings

We obtain a new inequality for weakly （K1,K2）-quasiregular mappings by using the McShane extension method. This inequality can be used to derive the self-improving regularity of （K1, K2）-Quasiregular Mappings.     

On Linear Independence of Theta Values

We prove a linear independence result for the values of theta series and Tschakaloff functions T_q(z) with different values of q.The first named author was supported in part by Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (No. 13640007), The Ministry of Education, Science, Sports, Culture of Japan.     

Crossed Product of a C *-Algebra by a Semigroup of Endomorphisms Generated by Partial Isometries

The paper presents a construction of the crossed product of a C^*- algebra by a semigroup of endomorphisms generated by partial isometries. This work was in part supported by Polish Ministry of Science and High Education grant number N N201 382634.

In this paper the following theorem is proved： Every group L3（q） for q = 3^（2m-1）（m≥2） is characterized by its set of element orders.
