This study is concerned with the measurement and interpretation of magnetic hyperfine anomalies in electronic and muonic atoms. i.e. effects of the distribution of nuclear magnetization on the magnetic dipole hyperfine interaction. After a summary of the relevant theory and a review of experimental techniques, hyperfine anomaly results are discussed in terms of various nuclear models. The use of the anomaly for yielding information about the origin of magnetic hyperfine interactions is outlined. Experimental and theoretical hyperfine anomalies are tabulated.  相似文献

The present status of calculations of the hyperfine splitting and the transition probability between the hyperfine splitting components in hydrogen and lithium like ions is discussed. The results of the calculations are compared with recent experimental data. A special attention is focused on the hyperfine splitting in hydrogen like lead and lithium like bismuth. It is shown that the theoretical prediction for the ground state hyperfine splitting in lead based on the single particle nuclear model for the Bohr-Weisskopf effect is in fair agreement with experiment. The theoretical prediction for the ground state hyperfine splitting in lithium like bismuth is improved due to more accurate calculations of the interelectronic interaction, QED, and nuclear corrections. Data for the magnetic dipole hyperfine interaction of essentially single rare earth ions in metals, measured with different experimental methods, are collected and discussed. Depending on the host, the magnetic hyperfine field of these paramagnetic ions remains undisturbed by the environment, or it is enlarged, or weakened or can even become completely lost. If there are magnetic ions in the neighbourhood, the magnetic interaction can enlarge the hyperfine field of the single ion by a transferred hyperfine field. The reason of the demagnetization effect may be crystal field splitting and hybridization. The core polarization field of the free rare earth ions is redetermined from measurements of the hyperfine interaction in nonmagnetic metals at low magnetic ion concentration.  相似文献

The lattice location of ion-implanted radioactive isotopes in metals and their interactions with defects in their own radiation damage cascade are of importance for studies of the hyperfine interactions of such probe atoms by nuclear methods. Recent results from Mössbauer and PAC experiments in particular are reviewed. Emphasis is put on lattice site identifications, which can be inferred from measured lattice-dynamical and hyperfine interaction parameters of probe atoms. Some general conclusions on the hyperfine interactions in interstitial- and vacancy-type complexes are drawn.  相似文献

Theoretical and experimental investigations of the hyperfine structure of deuterated acetaldehyde (CD3COH) are presented. The theoretical approach accounts for the large amplitude internal rotation of the CD3 group. A hyperfine Hamiltonian, depending on the large amplitude torsional angle, is written taking into account quadrupole hyperfine coupling arising from the three deuterium atoms. Effective hyperfine coupling Hamiltonians are derived for A- and E-type rotation-torsion levels. In the former case, a very symmetrical operator arises in which the hyperfine coupling is the same for all three deuterium atoms. In the latter case the operators are less symmetrical. Hyperfine levels are calculated using symmetry adapted hyperfine wavefunctions in order to build total hyperfine-rotation-torsion wavefunctions satisfying the Pauli exclusion principle. The theoretical approach is used to carry out analyses of six hyperfine patterns which were recorded using a pulsed molecular beam Fourier transform microwave spectrometer. The experimental resolution of this apparatus allows us to resolve individual hyperfine components in many cases. The results of the analysis are consistent with deuterium atoms having an effective quadrupole coupling tensor which, except for appropriate rotations, is quite close to that in CH3D.  相似文献

Magnetic properties at surfaces and interfaces have been investigated performing Perturbed Angular Correlation (PAC) measurements in the UHV chamber ASPIC (Apparatus for Surface Physics and Interfaces at CERN) using different PAC probes. The results are: (i) determination of magnetic hyperfine fields of Se on Fe, Co, Ni which are explained by a theoretical study on the magnetic hyperfine fields of 4sp-elements in adatom position on Ni and Fe;(ii) static magnetic hyperfine fields in ultrathin Pd on Ni(0 0 1) which indicate an induced magnetic order in Pd;(iii) the observation of induced fluctuating magnetic interactions in Pd when thick Pd is in contact with Ni. Monolayer-resolved measurements of the magnetic hyperfine fields in magnetized Pd are in accordance with theoretical predictions of the layer dependence of the induced magnetic moments in Pd. One investigates the influence of thermally excited collective modes in incommensurate systems on the temperature dependence of hyperfine interactions. The observed hyperfine fields are reduced by a temperature-dependent Debye-Waller factor and the hyperfine field amplitude can eventually decrease to zero well below the transition temperature.  相似文献

U 2-centers in alkali halides are neutral hydrogen atoms in interstitial lattice sites, as has been shown by EPR measurements. The hyperfine interactions with the proton and with the four nearest halogen nuclei are resolved in the EPR spectrum. In order to resolve hyperfine interactions with further nuclei of the surrounding lattice ENDOR measurements have been performed onU 2-centers in KCl at 77 °K. The analysis of the ENDOR spectra gave precise values for the hyperfine and quadrupole interaction constants of the nearest neighbour chlorine and potassium nuclei. The isotropic hyperfine constant of the chlorine neighbours is 24 times larger than that of the potassium neighbours although both nuclei are on equivalent first shell lattice positions. The hyperfine interactions of second shell potassium nuclei [(1/2, 1/2, 3/2)-position] show an unexpectedly large isotropic hyperfine constant. One expects a pure magnetic dipole-dipole interaction for the outer shell nuclei because of the concentrated hydrogen wave function. Two further chlorine shells could be approximately analysed. A theoretical estimate of the hyperfine and quadrupole interaction constants was made by orthogonalizing the 1s hydrogen wave function to the cores of the surrounding ions. If one takes into account the mutual overlap of neighbouring potassium and chlorine ions, one gets the right order of magnitude of the measured constants and a value of 10.4∶1 for the ratio of the isotropic hyperfine constants of the first shell chlorine and potassium nuclei. The relatively large isotropic constant of the second shell potassium nuclei can also be explained on this basis.  相似文献

This paper reviews the application of the perturbed angular correlation (PAC/D) technique to studies of rare earth hyperfine interactions. First, PAC/D measurements of the interaction of rare-earth nuclei with the large hyperfine fields of their own partially filled 4f electronic shell are discussed. It is shown that PAC/D spectroscopy is particularly useful for the investigation of 4f spin relaxation in liquid and solid environments, and for the study of the formation and stability of 4f magnetic moments in metallic hosts. The second part of the paper deals with the static hyperfine interaction of non-rare-earth impurity nuclei in the hexagonal, magnetically ordered rare-earth metals. The PAC/D contributions to the systematic investigation of impurity electric field gradients and magnetic hyperfine fields in rare earths are discussed. The importance of PAC/D as the main source of information on the temperature dependence of impurity hyperfine interactions in rare earths is stressed. The trends of the electric field gradients are compared to the behaviour of simpler non-cubic metal systems. The magnetic fields are discussed in the context of current theories.  相似文献

The electric multipole hyperfine interaction in muonic atoms is discussed. In particular, the influence of the finite size of the nuclear electric multipole-charge distribution on the values of nuclear spectroscopic multipole moments that are extracted from muonic hyperfine measurements is considered. It is shown that nuclear electric quadrupole moments can be deduced from the observed hyperfine splittings of muonic M X-ray transitions with high precision and practically independently of the model nuclear quadrupole-charge density. Measurements of the ground-state electric quadrupole moments of 11 deformed nuclei in and near the rare-earth region are discussed.  相似文献

The57Fe Mössbauer isomer shifts and magnetic hyperfine fields in Laves phase compounds RFe2 (R=Pr, Nd and Sm) are studied with particular reference to the effect of the Fe–Fe interatomic distance on the hyperfine interactions. It is shown that the charge density at the Fe nuclei scales linearly with fractional volume change up to 20%. The57Fe hyperfine field corrected for the influence of rare-earth moment shows a systematic variation with the distance, which can be understood in terms of the Bethe-Slater curve arguments. The similarity of the atomic volume dependence of the57Fe hyperfine interactions in Lves phase compounds to those in iron with close-packed structure is emphasized.This paper is based on a paper presented at the 5th Int. The origin of ferromagnetism in the transition metal ferromagnets, iron, cobalt, and nickel is discussed, from an ab initio band structure point of view, with proper attention to the explicit roles of exchange, correlation and hybridization effects. The influence of these effects and all the mechanisms such as direct, exchange core polarization and many-body effects that have been found important for the hyperfine properties of atomic systems are included in attempting to understand the experimentally observed hyperfine fields at the nuclei in these metals. Spin-density distributions using calculated spin polarized band wave-functions are used to make comparisons with experimental neutron scattering data. The impact of the results of analyses of hyperfine fields at the nuclei and spin density distributions on the origin of hyperfine fields at muon sites is discussed. This talk, and the corresponding article for the proceedings of this conference, will deal with the theoretical understanding of the hyperfine fields at the nuclei and neutron scattering form factors in the three ferromagnetic metals, iron, cobalt and nickel and the impact of this understanding on that of the origin of the hyperfine fields at positive muon sites in these metals. With these aims in mind, the plan of my talk will be the following.
  1. Discussion of a first-principle principle procedure to obtain the energy bands and electronic wave-functions in these metals and the understanding of the origin of their ferromagnetism from a band point of view.
  2. Mechanisms contributing to hyperfine fields in atomic systems and their relevance for ferromagnetic metals.
  3. The mechanisms for the origin of hyperfine fields in these metals, corresponding theoretical results and comparison with experiment.
  4. Comparison between calculated spin-density distributions and experimental results from neutron scattering data.
  5. Remarks on the origin of hyperfine fields at muon sites in these metals.

The fine structure and the hyperfine structure for some singly-excited and doubly-excited states of helium atom are calculated using Rayleigh-Ritz variational method with multi-configuration-interaction wave functions. The calculated results of the fine structure for the Rydberg series are in good agreement with other theoretical and experimental data. Our ab initio calculations of the hyperfine parameters for negatively charged vacancy-hydrogen and nitrogen-vacancy-hydrogen complexes in diamond compare static defect models and models which account for the quantum tunneling behavior of hydrogen. The static models give rise to hyperfine splittings that are inconsistent with the experimental electron paramagnetic resonance data. In contrast, the hyperfine parameters for the quantum dynamical models are in agreement with the experimental observations. We show that the quantum motion of the proton is crucial to the prediction of symmetry and hyperfine constants for two simple defect centers in diamond. The NMR spin ccho measurements at 4.2 K for YMn2Hx (x=1, 2, 3) compounds are reported. The obtained values of55Mn hyperfine fields are analysed in dependence on the by hydrogen atoms and flips of neighbouring manganese moments. The strong increase of hyperfine field with increasing number of the nearest hydrogen atoms is explained by the change of orbital contribution to hyperfine field.  相似文献

在Λ型三能级系统的基础上引入两个共振射频场, 通过详细讨论系统的探测吸收特性随两个射频场Rabi频率取不同值时的变化规律, 得出电磁诱导透明(EIT)的分裂规律以及EIT上出现增益现象的产生条件.研究结果表明: 两个射频场对系统所起的控制作用不同, 控制基态精细结构能级之间跃迁的射频场对EIT的分裂起作用, 而控制激发态精细结构能级之间跃迁的射频场不会导致EIT的分裂; 而且, 只有当控制基态精细结构能级之间跃迁的射频场的Rabi频率大于控制激发态精细结构能级之间跃迁的射频场的Rabi频率时, 才能产生EIT与增益相叠加的新特性. 关键词: 射频场 电磁诱导透明 增益 精细结构能级  相似文献

在室温下的原子气室中, 基于铯原子6S1/2-6P3/2-7S1/2(852.3 nm+1469.9 nm) 阶梯型能级系统, 利用电光调制器的主频和±1级边带分别产生的三套双共振吸收光谱, 当驱动电光调制器的信号源频率严格等于7S1/2态超精细分裂的能级间隔时, 三套谱线中的一些超精细跃迁谱线重叠且线宽最窄, 利用这一现象很好地避免了激光器频率扫描时非线性效应的影响, 测量出了7S1/2 态超精细分裂能级间隔: 2183.72 MHz±0.23 MHz, 并计算出该态的磁偶极超精细常数: Ahfs= 545.93 m MHz±0.06 MHz, 与文献中报道的测量结果一致.  相似文献

The influence of direct relaxation between the states of an Ising pseudo-doublet on the paramagnetic Mössbauer spectra is examined. An analytic expression for the line shape is obtained, and this is used to show the importance of accounting for the off-diagonal hyperfine coupling, even when the crystal field splitting of the electronic states is very much greater than the hyperfine interaction. The fast relaxation limit is found to be independent of the crystal field splitting, and shows the full magnetic hyperfine structure associated with an unsplit Ising doublet. The influence of a small applied magnetic field is examined and the conditions under which the off-diagonal hyperfine coupling may be ignored are delineated.  相似文献
