The trivalent chromium centers were investigated by means of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) in SrTiO3 single crystals grown using the Verneuil technique. It was shown that the charge compensation of the Cr3+-VO dominant centers in octahedral environment is due to the remote oxygen vacancy located on the axial axis of the center. In order to provide insight into spin-phonon relaxation processes the studies of axial distortion of Cr3+-VO centers have been performed as function of temperature. The analysis of the trigonal Cr3+ centers found in SrTiO3 indicates the presence of the nearest-neighbor strontium vacancy. The next-nearest-neighbor exchange-coupled pairs of Cr3+ in SrTiO3 has been analyzed from the angular variation of the total electron spin of S=2 resonance lines.  相似文献

Single crystal EPR study of Mn(II) doped in cobalt potassium phosphate hexahydrate has been carried out at room temperature. The impurity shows a 30 line pattern EPR spectra along a particular crystallographic axis suggesting the existence of only one type of impurity in place of Co(II) ion in the host lattice. The spin Hamiltonian parameters have been estimated as: g11=2.011, g22=1.998, g33=1.991, and A11=−8.9, A22=−8.8, A33=−8.4 mT and D11=−15.2, D22=−9.4, D33=24.6 mT, respectively. The sign of A is designated as negative and D as positive. The covalency of metal-oxygen bond has been estimated. The relaxation times, calculated as a function of temperature, indicate spin-lattice relaxation narrowing at room temperature.  相似文献

A theoretical method for studying the inter-relation between electron and molecule structure is proposed on the basis of the complete energy matrices of the electron-electron repulsion, the ligand-field and the spin-orbit coupling for d5 configuration ion in a trigonal ligand-field. As an application, the local distortion structure of (FeCl6)3- coordination complex for Fe3+ ions doped into CdCl2 is investigated. Both the second-order zero-field splitting parameter and fourth-order zero-field splitting parameter are considered simultaneously in the structural investigation. By diagonalizing the complete energy matrices, the local structure distortion parameters ΔR=−0.24 Å, Δθ=2.137° at 26 K and ΔR=−0.203 Å, Δθ=2.515° at 225 K for Fe3+ ions in CdCl2 are determined. These results elucidate a microscopic origin of various ligand-field parameters which are usually used empirically for the interpretation of electron paramagnetic resonance results. It is found that the theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental values.  相似文献

Optical absorption, EPR, Infrared and Raman spectral studies have been carried out on natural clinochlore mineral. The optical absorption spectrum exhibits bands characteristic of Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions. A band observed in the NIR region is attributed to an intervalence charge transfer (Fe2+-Fe3+) band. The room temperature EPR spectrum of single crystal of clinochlore mineral reveals the dominance of Fe3+ ion exhibiting resonance signals at g=2.66; 3.68 and 4.31 besides one isotropic resonance signal at g=2.0. The EPR studies have been carried out for a polycrystalline sample in the temperature range from 103 to 443 K and for a single crystal of clinochlore mineral in the temperature range 123-297 K. The number of spins (N) participating in resonance at g=4.3 signal of the single crystal of clinochlore mineral has been calculated at different temperatures. The paramagnetic susceptibility (χ) is calculated from the EPR data at different temperatures for single crystal of clinochlore mineral. The Curie constant and Curie temperature values are evaluated from 1/χ versus T graph. The infrared spectral studies reveal the formation of Fe3+-OH complexes due to the presence of higher amount of iron in this mineral. The Raman spectrum exhibits bands characteristic of Si-O-Si stretching and Si-O bending modes.  相似文献

X-band electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies on divalent copper ions embedded in KMgClSO4·3H2O single crystals have been performed at low temperature (123 K). The angular variation of the EPR spectra reveals the presence of two Cu2+ sites, which have different orientations. The spin-Hamiltonian parameters of this six-coordinated cupric ion have been evaluated from the EPR spectra at 123 K. The forbidden lines due to ΔmI=±1 transitions are observed in between allowed transitions. The temperature variation EPR studies have also been performed both for a single crystal and a polycrystalline sample. The ground state wavefunction of Cu2+ ions has been estimated and is found to be an admixture of d3z2r2 and dx2y2. The temperature variation of the EPR spectra reveals that Cu2+ ions exhibit dynamic Jahn-Teller effect. From the polycrystalline EPR data, the temperature dependent magnetic susceptibilities are evaluated and discussed.  相似文献

Single crystal EPR study has been carried at room temperature for VO(II) doped zinc sodium phosphate hexahydrate. Single crystal rotations in each of the three mutually orthogonal crystallographic planes namely bc, ac, and ab indicate three chemically inequivalent sites, with intensity ratios of 25:13:1. The spin Hamiltonian parameters obtained for the two intense sites are: Site I: gxx=1.983, gyy=1.985, gzz=1.933; Axx=7.39 mT, Ayy=7.15 mT, Azz=19.03 mT; Site. II: gxx=1.985, gyy=1.985, gzz=1.937; Axx=7.36 mT, Ayy=7.25 mT, Azz=18.67 mT. The two VO bond directions in the two sites are approximately at right angles to each other. The powder spectrum clearly indicates two chemically inequivalent sites, confirming the single crystal analysis. Admixture coefficients, Fermi contact, and dipolar interaction terms have also been evaluated.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), luminescence and infrared spectra of Mn2+ ions doped in zinc gallate (ZnGa2O4) powder phosphor have been studied. The EPR spectra have been recorded for zinc gallate phosphor doped with different concentrations of Mn2+ ions. The EPR spectra exhibit characteristic spectrum of Mn2+ ions (S=I=5/2) with a sextet hyperfine pattern, centered at geff=2.00. At higher concentrations of Mn2+ ions, the intensity of the resonance signals decreases. The number of spins participating in the resonance has been measured as a function of temperature and the activation energy (Ea) is calculated. The EPR spectra of ZnGa2O4: Mn2+ have been recorded at various temperatures. From the EPR data, the paramagnetic susceptibility (χ) at various temperatures, the Curie constant (C) and the Curie temperature (θ) have been evaluated. The emission spectrum of ZnGa2O4: Mn2+ (0.08 mol%) exhibits two bands centered at 468 and 502 nm. The band observed at 502 nm is attributed to 4T16A1 transition of Mn2+ ions. The band observed at 468 nm is attributed to the trap-state transitions. The excitation spectrum exhibits two bands centered at 228 and 280 nm. The strong band at 228 nm is attributed to host-lattice absorption and the weak band at 280 nm is attributed to the charge-transfer absorption or d5→d4s transition band. The observed bands in the FT-IR spectrum are assigned to the stretching vibrations of M-O groups at octahedral and tetrahedral sites.  相似文献

The EPR parameters (g factors and hyperfine structure constants A) for the tetragonal Ti3+ center in cubic phase and the rhombic Ti3+ center in tetragonal phase in the neutron-irradiated SrTiO3 crystals are calculated from the third-order perturbation formulas of EPR parameters for d1 ions. These low-symmetry Ti3+ centers in both phases of SrTiO3 are due to the Ti3+ ion at “off center” on the Sr2+ site. From the calculation, the defect models (including the direction and magnitude of the Ti3+ off-center displacement) of the two Ti3+ centers in SrTiO3 are estimated and the EPR parameters of both Ti3+ centers are reasonably explained on the basis of the defect models. The results are discussed.  相似文献

Solid state 19F NMR in the temperature range from 96 to 366 K and room temperature EPR studies of fluorinated buckminsterfullerene C60F58 have been carried out. The temperature dependence of the line width and the spin-lattice relaxation time show hindered molecular motion with the activation energy of ΔEa=1.9 kcal/mol. Neither phase transition nor random rotation of C60F58 have been obtained. The spin-lattice relaxation rate is strongly affected by the presence of paramagnetic centers, namely, dangling C-C bonds yielding localized unpaired electrons. Such broken bonds are caused by C-C bond rupture in a cage-opened structure of hyperfluorinated species.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance and optical investigations of copper and chromium doped LiRbB4O7 glasses are carried out. From the results and discussions, it is predicted that both the transition metal ions exhibit octahedral environment. In the case of Cr3+, the site symmetry is near octahedral, whereas in the case of Cu2+, it is tetragonally distorted octahedral environment. Crystal field, spin-Hamiltonian and bonding parameters are evaluated. The bonding parameters are suggesting ionic.  相似文献

EPR, 13C NMR and TEM study of ultradisperse diamond (UDD) samples is reported. The compounds show a high concentration of paramagnetic centers (up to 1020 spin/g), which are due to structural defects (dangling C-C bonds) on the diamond cluster surface. The anomalous reduction in the spin-lattice relaxation time of 13C (from several hours in natural diamond to ∼150 ms in UDD clusters) is attributed to the interaction between the unpaired electrons of the paramagnetic centers and nuclear spins. 13C NMR line-width reflects the fact that the structure of the UDD surface is distorted in comparison to the ‘bulk’ diamond structure.  相似文献

We report an electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study at 33.9 GHz and room temperature of oriented single crystal samples of bis(l-asparaginato)Zn(II) doped with Cu(II). The variation of the spectra with magnetic field orientation was measured in three crystal planes (a*b, bc and a*c, with a*=b×c). These spectra display two groups of four peaks arising from the hyperfine interaction with the ICu=3/2 nuclear spins of copper. They were assigned to Cu(II) ions in two lattice sites related by a 180° rotation around the b-crystal axis. The g and hyperfine coupling (A) tensors of the Cu(II) ions were evaluated from the single crystal data. Some indeterminacy in the assignment of the signals was avoided measuring the EPR spectrum of a powder sample. Their principal values are g1=2.060(1), g2=2.068(2), g3=2.283(2), and A1≈0.1×10−4, A2=13×10−4 and A3=165×10−4 cm−1. The eigenvectors corresponding to g3 and A3 are coincident within the experimental error; the other eigenvectors are rotated 5.6° in the perpendicular plane. Considering the crystal structure of bis(l-asparaginato)Zn(II), our EPR results indicate that the Cu(II) impurities replace Zn(II) ions in the host crystal. We propose a molecular model based on the EPR data and the structural information, and analyse the results comparing the measured values with those obtained in similar systems.  相似文献

Crystal structure of [Zn(hydet-en)2]·C4O4·H2O (ZHES) (hydet-en is N-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine) complex has been synthesized and characterized by analytical, spectroscopic (IR, UV/Vis) and voltammetric techniques. After doping Cu2+ ion, its magnetic environment has been identified by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique. The title complex crystalizes in monoclinic system with space group P21/c and with Z=4. Each hydet-en ligand acts as a tridentate ligand through the two N atoms and the hydroxyl O atom, resulting in a six coordinate Zn(II) ion. The EPR spectra were recorded in three perpendicular planes of Cu2+ doped ZHES single crystal. The calculated g and A values indicated that the paramagnetic center is rhombic symmetry with the Cu2+ ion having distorted octahedral environment. The molecular orbital bond coefficients of the Cu(II) ion in d9 state is also calculated by using EPR and optical absorption parameters. The dianion SQ2− is oxidized reversibly in two consecutive steps to the corresponding radical monoanion and neutral form.  相似文献

Magnetic and EPR data have been collected for complex [Cu(L-Arg)2](NO3)2·3H2O (Arg=arginine). Magnetic susceptibility χ in the temperature range 2-160 K, and a magnetization isotherm at T=2.29(1) K with magnetic fields between 0 and 9 T were measured. The observed variation of χT with T indicates predominant antiferromagnetic interactions between Cu(II) ions coupled in 1D chains along the b axis. Fitting a molecular field model to the susceptibility data allows to evaluate g=2.10(1) for the average g-factor and J=−0.42(6) cm−1 for the nearest neighbor exchange coupling (defined as Hex=-∑JijSi·Sj). This coupling is assigned to syn-anti equatorial-apical carboxylate bridges connecting Cu(II) ion neighbors at 5.682 Å, with a total bond length of 6.989 Å and is consistent with the magnetization isotherm results. It is discussed and compared with couplings observed in other compounds with similar exchange bridges. EPR spectra at 9.77 were obtained in powder samples and at 9.77 and at 34.1 GHz in the three orthogonal planes of single crystals. At both microwave frequencies, and for all magnetic field orientations a single signal arising from the collapse due to exchange interaction of resonances corresponding to two rotated Cu(II) sites is observed. From the EPR results the molecular g-tensors corresponding to the two copper sites in the unit cell were evaluated, allowing an estimated lower limit |J |>0.1 cm−1 for the exchange interaction between Cu(II) neighbors, consistent with the magnetic measurements. The observed angular variation of the line width is attributed to dipolar coupling between Cu(II) ions in the lattice.  相似文献

In this work, two d-d transition spectra and four EPR parameters g, g, A, A of K2PdCl4/Cu2+ are uniformly interpreted based on Zhao's crystal-field model. The calculation result is in good agreement with the experiment findings. The ligand spin-orbit coupling is neglected on the calculation, which is consistent with the ab initio result by Hillier et al. [J. Am. Chem. Soc. 98 (1976) 95]  相似文献

The local lattice structure and EPR parameters (D, g, g) have been studied systematically on the basis of the complete energy matrix for a d3 configuration ion in a trigonal ligand field. By simulating the calculated optical and EPR spectra data to the experimental results, the local distortion parameters (ΔR, Δθ) are determined for V2+ ions in CdCl2 and CsMgCl3 crystals, respectively. The results show that the local lattice structure of CdCl2:V2+ system exhibits a compression distortion (ΔR=−0.0868 Å) while that of CsMgCl3:V2+ system exists an elongation distortion (ΔR=0.0165 Å). The different distortion may be ascribed to the fact that the radius of V2+ ion is smaller than that of Cd2+ ion or larger than that of Mg2+ ion. Moreover, the relationships between EPR parameter D and local structure parameters (R, θ) as well as the orbital reduction factor k and gfactors (g, g) are discussed.  相似文献

Glasses with composition xBi2O3·(30−x)M2O·70B2O3 (M=Li, Na) containing 2 mol% V2O5 have been prepared over the range 0≤x≤15 (x is in mol%). The electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of VO2+ of these glasses have been recorded in the X-band (≈9.3 GHz) at room temperature (RT≈300 K). Spin Hamiltonian parameters, g, g, A, A, dipolar hyperfine coupling parameter, P, and Fermi contact interaction parameter, K, have been calculated. The molecular orbital coefficients, α2 and γ2, have been calculated by recording the optical transmission spectra. In xBi2O3·(30−x)Li2O·70B2O3 glasses there is decrease in the tetragonality of the V4+O6 complex for x up to 6 mol% whereas for x≥6 mol%, tetragonality increases. In xBi2O3·(30−x)Na2O·70B2O3 glasses there is increase in the tetragonality of the V4+O6 complex with increasing x. The 3dxy orbit expands with increase in Bi2O3:M2O ratio. Values of the theoretical optical basicity, Λth, have also been reported. The DC conductivity increases with increase in temperature. The order of conductivity is 10−5 ohm−1 m−1 at low temperature and 10−3 ohm−1 m−1 at high temperature. The DC conductivity decreases and the activation energy increases with increase in Bi2O3:M2O ratio.  相似文献

Two Ce3+-doped scintillator crystals, LSO (Lu2SiO5:Ce) and LPS (Lu2Si2O7:Ce), are studied by EPR spectroscopy. The analysis indicates that Ce3+ substitutes for Lu3+ ion in a C2-symmetry site for LPS and in two C1-symmetry sites for LSO, with a preference for the largest one, with 6+1 oxygen neighbors. Angular dependence of the EPR spectrum shows that the electronic ground state of Ce3+ is different in these two matrices. It is mainly composed of |MJ|=5/2 state in LPS and |MJ|=3/2 state in LSO. The temperature dependence of the linewidth shows a noticeably long spin lattice relaxation time, especially in LPS, which is the result of a stronger crystal field in LPS than in LSO.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and optical absorption spectral investigations have been carried out on Fe3+ ions doped sodium borophosphate glasses (NaH2PO4-B2O3-Fe2O3). The EPR spectra exhibit resonance signals with effective g values at g=2.02, g=4.2 and g=6.4. The resonance signal at g=4.2 is due to isolated Fe3+ ions in site with rhombic symmetry whereas the g=2.02 resonance is due to Fe3+ ions coupled by exchange interaction in a distorted octahedral environment. The EPR spectra at different temperatures (123-295 K) have also been studied. The intensity of the resonance signals decreases with increase in temperature whereas linewidth is found to be independent of temperature. The paramagnetic susceptibility (χ) was calculated from the EPR data at various temperatures and the Curie constant (C) and paramagnetic Curie temperature (θp) have been evaluated from the 1/χ versus T graph. The optical absorption spectrum exhibits bands characteristic of Fe3+ ions in octahedral symmetry. The crystal field parameter (Dq) and the Racah interelectronic repulsion parameters (B and C) have also been evaluated and discussed.  相似文献

X-band EPR measurements were performed at room temperature on layered Cu(Hippurate)24H2O single crystals. Despite the dimeric molecular structure the EPR spectra are characteristic for individual Cu-complexes with square-pyramidal structure and g-factors: gx=2.045, gy=2.085 and gz=2.346. The anticipated zero-field splitting from dimers with S=1 is averaged out by interdimer exchange coupling within the layers. The dimers in adjacent layers are not exchange coupled as we determined from the two-component EPR spectra. Thus, the crystal is an ideal 2D magnetic system and shows a strong spin diffusion effect in the EPR line width. The spin diffusion contribution to the line width is described as P(3cos2Θ−1)2 with which is much higher compared to other 2D copper(II) crystals. The background line width is due to dipolar coupling and non-resolved hyperfine structure. Exchange coupling was determined from the exchange narrowing effect as of about 0.1 cm−1.  相似文献
