In this study, we report the effects of the alkyl chain length on alkanethiol-capped gold nanoparticle Langmuir films. Gold nanoparticles (2-3 nm) capped with C(n)H(2n+1)SH (n = 5-12, 14-16, 18) were prepared via a two-phase synthesis. The films were sampled by Langmuir-Schaefer horizontal transfer at various points in the pressure-area isotherm and monitored with transmission electron microscopy. Changes in surface pressure, temperature, and alkyl chain length did not lead to observable differences in the mesoscale film morphology. Pressure-area isotherms at 22 °C, however, revealed that the work of compression and the collapse pressure are directly dependent on alkyl chain lengths of 14 carbons or greater. Variable temperature isotherms suggest that the work of compression is strongly affected by the phase state (i.e., crystalline vs liquid-like) of the gold-thiolate self-assembled monolayer (SAM) capping the nanoparticles.  相似文献

We present a simple in situ method to fabricate silver (Ag) nanoparticle arrays in a layer-by-layer (LBL) assembled hyaluronan (HA)/poly(dimethyldiallylammonium chloride) (PDDA) multilayer structure, in which the LBL multilayered film is constructed by electrostatic attraction between positively charged PDDA and negatively charged HA, followed by in situ synthesis of embedded Ag nanoparticle arrays in the LBL "nanoreactors," where the abundant negatively charged carboxyl groups of HA bind and further reduce Ag(+) ions under UV-irradiating. The arrays morphology is highly dependent on the number of bilayers, and the surface density of nanoparticles in the arrays can be simply tailored by the number of irradiation/drying cycles during fabrication. The embedded Ag nanoparticle arrays possess good stability for localized surface plasmon resonance (SPR) absorption spectrum-based biosensors and superior antimicrobial capability. These render great potentials for the films in both biosensing and antimicrobial applications.  相似文献

Two-dimensional ordered arrays of gold (Au) nanoparticles were fabricated using two different variants of the nanosphere lithography technique. First, ordered arrays of polystyrene nanospheres on Si substrate were used as deposition masks through which gold films were deposited by electron beam evaporation. After the removal of the nanospheres, an array of triangular Au nanodisks was left on the Si substrate. After thermal annealing at increasing temperature, systematic shape transition of the nanostructures from original triangular Au nanodisks to rounded nanoparticles was observed. This approach allows us to systematically vary the size and morphology of the particles. In the second and novel technique, we made use of reactive ion etching to simultaneously reduce the dimension of the masking nanospheres and create arrays of nanopores on the substrate prior to the deposition of the Au films. These samples were subsequently annealed, which resulted in size-tunable and ordered Au nanoparticle arrays with the nanoparticles nested in the nanopores of the templated substrate. With the nanoparticles anchored in the nanopores, the substrate could be useful as a template for growth of other nanomaterials.  相似文献

The synthesis and operation of a light-operated nanovalve that controls the pore openings of mesoporous silica nanoparticles containing gold nanoparticle cores is described. The nanoparticles, consisting of 20 nm gold cores inside ~150 nm mesoporous silica spheres, were synthesized using a unique one-pot method. The nanovalves consist of cucurbit[6]uril rings encircling stalks that are attached to the ~2 nm pore openings. Plasmonic heating of the gold core raises the local temperature and decreases the ring-stalk binding constant, thereby unblocking the pore and releasing the cargo molecules that were preloaded inside. Bulk heating of the suspended particles to 60 °C is required to release the cargo, but no bulk temperature change was observed in the plasmonic heating release experiment. High-intensity irradiation caused thermal damage to the silica particles, but low-intensity illumination caused a local temperature increase sufficient to operate the valves without damaging the nanoparticle containers. These light-stimulated, thermally activated, mechanized nanoparticles represent a new system with potential utility for on-command drug release.  相似文献

Highly ordered gold nanoparticle multilayer films were achieved conveniently using didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDAB) films as a template. The template was produced by casting DDAB chloroform solution onto the surface of a (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane-modified indium tin oxide substrate and then evaporating the organic solvent. Gold nanoparticle multilayer films were prepared by soaking the template in 2.6 nm colloidal gold solution for 120 min. The well-ordered superlattice structure of the DDAB template and the gold nanoparticle multilayer films was identified by x-ray diffraction. The characterizations of the gold nanoparticle multilayer films by UV-vis spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, and cyclic voltammerty were described in detail. The application of the as-prepared gold nanoparticle multilayer films in surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) was investigated by using Rhodamine 6G as a probe molecule. It was found that the colloidal gold nanoparticle multilayer films exhibit remarkable enhancement ability and can be used as SERS substrates.  相似文献

The preparation of AcA-stabilized Ag nanoparticles and its application to make highly conductive thin films are reported. The AcA-stabilized Ag nanoparticles were prepared through a ligand exchange of original oleylamine (OLA)-coated Ag nanoparticles with acrylic acid (AcA), which acted as both an antisolvent and a modifying ligand during the ligand exchange process. Efficiencies of the ligand exchange as well as the properties of Ag nanoparticles were analyzed using various techniques including TEM, FT-IR, XPS, TGA, and UV-vis methods. The thin films were fabricated by annealing spin-coated AcA-stabilized Ag nanoparticles. Further, the effects of annealing temperature, time, and film thickness on both the film morphology and electrical conductivity have been investigated. In this work, due to the low boiling temperature of stabilizer (AcA) and adjustment of annealing conditions, high electrical conductivity was obtained for the Ag thin films. For example, when annealing at 175 °C for 30 min, a 70 nm thick film showed a maximum electrical conductivity of 1.12 × 10(5) S cm(-1). A conductive layer on a flexible polymer substrate (e.g., PET) sheet has been successfully prepared by annealing a spin-coated film at 140 °C for 30 min. The combined advantages of long-term stability of the AcA-stabilized Ag nanoparticles, low annealing temperature, and high conductivity of the prepared thin films make this relatively simple method attractive for applications in flexible electronics.  相似文献

Inverse opal films with unique optical properties have potential as photonic crystal materials and have stimulated wide interest in recent years. Herein, iridescent hybrid polystyrene/nanoparticle macroporous films have been prepared by using the breath‐figure method. The honeycomb‐patterned thin films were prepared by casting gold nanoparticle‐doped polystyrene solutions in chloroform at high relative humidity. Highly ordered hexagonal arrays of monodisperse pores with an average diameter of 880 nm are obtained. To account for the observed features, a microscopic phase separation of gold nanoparticles is proposed to occur in the breath‐figure formation. That is, individual gold nanoparticles adsorb at the solution/water interface and effectively stabilize condensed water droplets on the solution surface in a hexagonal array. Alternatively, at high nanoparticle concentrations the combination of breath‐figure formation and nanoparticle phase separation leads to hierarchical structures with spherical aggregates under a honeycomb monolayer. The films show large features in both the visible and NIR regions that are attributed to a combination of nanoparticle and ordered‐array absorptions. Organic ligand‐stabilized CdSe/CdS quantum dots or Fe3O4 nanoparticles may be loaded into the honeycomb structure to further modify the films. These results demonstrate new methods for the fabrication and functionalization of inverse opal films with potential applications in photonic and microelectronic materials.  相似文献

Polymer/Au nanoparticle multilayer ultrathin films are fabricated via hydrogen-bonding interaction by a layer-by-layer technique. The Au nanoparticles surface-modified with pyridine groups of poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PVP) are prepared in dimethyl formamide (DMF). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) image shows that uniform nanoparticles are dispersed in the PVP chains. Poly(3-thiophene acetic acid) (PTAA) and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) are utilized to form hydrogen bonds with PVP, respectively. Considering the pH-sensitive dissociation behavior of PTAA and PAA, we investigate the release behavior of the Au-containing multilayers at different pH values in this work. UV-vis spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM) are employed to monitor the buildup and the release of the multilayers. The results indicate that in the films assembled with gold nanoparticles, the polymers are difficult to be removed from the substrate. The interaction between the gold particles and the neighboring PVP chains is responsible for the phenomenon. Gold particles act as physical cross-link points in the multilayers. Due to the additional interaction caused by the gold nanoparticles in the films except the hydrogen-bonding interaction between PTAA (or PAA) and PVP, the stability of the Au-containing multilayer film is ensured even though the changes in pH values may result in the break of the hydrogen bonds.  相似文献

Fluoroalkyl end-capped co-oligomeric nanoparticles, which were prepared by the reaction of fluoroalkanoyl peroxide with 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) and 1-hydroxy-5-adamantylacrylate (Ad-HAc), were applied to the preparation of novel fluorinated co-oligomeric nanocomposite-encapsulated gold nanoparticles. These fluorinated gold nanocomposites were easily prepared by the reductions of gold ions with poly(methylhydrosiloxane) (PMHS) in the presence of the corresponding fluorinated nanoparticles and tri -n-octylamine (TOA) in 1,2-dichloroethane (DE) at room temperature. These fluorinated gold nanoparticles were isolated as wine-red powders and were found to exhibit good dispersibility in a variety of traditional organic solvents such as DE, methanol, and t-butyl alcohol to afford transparent wine-red solutions. The morphology and stability of these fluorinated co-oligomeic nanocomposite-encapsulated gold nanoparticles were characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering measurements (DLS), and UV-vis spectroscopy. DLS measurements and UV-vis spectroscopy showed that these particles are nanometer-size-controlled very fine nanoparticles (185-218 nm) that exhibit a plasmon absorption band at around 530 nm. TEM images also showed that gold nanoparticles are tightly encapsulated into fluorinated co-oligomeric nanoparticle cores. Interestingly, these fluorinated co-oligomeric nanocomposites-encapsulated gold nanoparticles were found to afford linear arrays of these fluorinated nanoparticles with increases in the feed amounts of TOA. More interestingly, these fluorinated gold nanoparticles were able to afford the extremely red-shifted plasmon absorption band at around 960 nm.  相似文献

We combine X-ray reflectivity and scanning electron microscopy measurements to investigate the mechanisms involved in the growth of vertical arrays of phthalocyanine nanowires directed by templates of Au nanoparticles. The study has been carried out for H(16)CuPc at different substrate temperatures. It is shown that three organic morphologies evolve during the growth: 1D nanostructures on top of the Au nanoparticles, a multilayer film on the substrate and a layer wetting the gold nanoparticles. For substrate temperatures below 100 °C there is a coexisting and competing growth of the three structures, whereas beyond this temperature the 1D growth on the nanoparticles is predominantly favored. The observance of two regimes with the temperature is characterized by two different activation energies. Both the length of the 1D structures and the thickness of the multilayer film can be precisely controlled by the substrate temperature which is of importance for application of vertical organic nanowires as donor/acceptor architecture in organic solar cells.  相似文献

Electroless gold island thin films are formed by galvanic replacement of silver reduced onto a tin-sensitized silica surface. A novel approach to create nanoparticle ensembles with tunable particle dimensions, densities, and distributions by thermal transformation of these electroless gold island thin films is presented. Deposition time is adjusted to produce monomodal ensembles of nanoparticles from 9.5 +/- 4.0 to 266 +/- 22 nm at densities from 2.6 x 1011 to 4.3 x 108 particles cm-2. Scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy reveal electroless gold island film structures as well as nanoparticle dimensions, densities, and distributions obtained by watershed analysis. Transmission UV-vis spectroscopy reveals photoluminescent features that suggest ultrathin EL films may be smoother than sputtered Au films. X-ray diffraction shows Au films have predominantly (111) orientation.  相似文献

The breath figure method was used to prepare dodecanethiol‐capped gold nanoparticle macroporous structures with pore diameters from 1.7 to 3.5 μm on an air/water interface. A two‐step procedure is proposed for the fabrication of these macroporous structures, by forming a surfactant monolayer on water, and drop‐casting a gold nanoparticle dispersion in chloroform onto the surfactant monolayer. The self‐assembled films are easily transferred from the water surface onto different substrates and were characterized by TEM, SEM, and AFM. Ordered honeycomb structures with different pore arrays (perforated monolayer films, hexagonal networks and alveoli‐like porous films) were obtained. The change in morphology is concentration dependent, and deformed structures with elliptic honeycomb networks are also observed. In addition, honeycomb films using gold nanoparticles stabilized by a weakly bound ligand (dioctadecyldimethylammonium chloride) were formed by the same technique. These films have potential as substrates for surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles were prepared in the presence of chitosan via reduction of HAuCl4 with sodium borohydride. The gold-chitosan nanocomposite was formed by adsorbing chitosan molecules onto the gold nanoparticle surfaces. The resulting gold nanoparticles were characterized by transmission electron microscopy and UV-vis spectroscopy. Morphology of gold-chitosan nanocomposite films was investigated by polarized optical microscopy. The morphology of chitosan crystal cast from the prepared nanocomposite was much different from that cast from chitosan solution due to the possible nucleation of gold nanoparticles. A branched-like structure or a cross-linked needle-like structure could be formed in nanocomposite films with different casting volumes.  相似文献

Novel organic solar cells have been prepared using quaternary self-organization of porphyrin (donor) and fullerene (acceptor) units by clusterization with gold nanoparticles on nanostructured SnO2 electrodes. First, porphyrin-alkanethiolate monolayer-protected gold nanoparticles (H2PCnMPC: n is the number of methylene groups in the spacer) are prepared (secondary organization) starting from the primary component (porphyrin-alkanethiol). These porphyrin-modified gold nanoparticles form complexes with fullerene molecules (tertiary organization), and they are clusterized in acetonitrile/toluene mixed solvent (quaternary organization). The highly colored composite clusters can then be assembled as three-dimensional arrays onto nanostructured SnO2 films to afford the OTE/SnO2/(H2PCnMPC+C60)m electrode using an electrophoretic deposition method. The film of the composite clusters with gold nanoparticle exhibits an incident photon-to-photocurrent efficiency (IPCE) as high as 54% and broad photocurrent action spectra (up to 1000 nm). The power conversion efficiency of the OTE/SnO2/(H2PC15MPC+C60)m composite electrode reaches as high as 1.5%, which is 45 times higher than that of the reference system consisting of the both single components of porphyrin and fullerene.  相似文献

During recent years investigation on the development of eco-friendly processes for production of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) have received much attention due to hazardous effects of chemical compounds used for nanoparticle preparation. In the present study, the purified laccase from Paraconiothyrium variabile was applied for synthesis of Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) and the properties of produced nanoparticles were characterized. The UV-vis spectrum of formed AuNPs showed a peak at 530 nm related to surface plasmon absorbance of GNPs represented the formation of gold nanoparticles after 20 min incubation of HAuCl(4) (0.6 mM) in the presence of 73 U laccase at 70°C. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) image of AuNPs showed well dispersed nanoparticles in the range of 71-266 nm as determined by the laser light scattering method. The pattern of energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) of the prepared GNPs confirmed the structure of gold nanocrystals.  相似文献

Dodecanethiol-stabilized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were deposited via a gas-expanded liquid (GXL) technique utilizing CO(2)-expanded hexane onto substrates of different surface energy. The different surface energies were achieved by coating silicon (100) substrates with various organic self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). Following the deposition of AuNP films, the films were characterized to determine the effect of substrate surface energy on nanoparticle film deposition and growth. Interestingly, the critical surface tension of a given substrate does not directly describe nanoparticle film morphology. However, the results in this study indicate a shift between layer-by-layer and island film growth based on the critical surface tension of the capping ligand. Additionally, the fraction of surface area covered by the AuNP film decreases as the oleophobic nature of the surfaces increases. On the basis of this information, the potential exists to engineer nanoparticle films with desired morphologies and characteristics.  相似文献

This article presents a synthesis method for nanoparticle-cored dendrimers (NCDs), which have dendritic architectures around a monolayer-protected gold nanoparticle. The synthesis method is based on a strategy in which the synthesis of monolayer-protected nanoparticles is followed by adding dendrons on functionalized nanoparticles by a single coupling reaction. NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) characterizations confirmed the successful coupling reaction between dendrons with different generations ([G1], [G2], and [G3]) and COOH-functionalized nanoparticles ( approximately Au201L71). The dendrimer wedge density also could be controlled by reacting nanoparticles having different loading of COOH groups ( approximately 60 and approximately 10% COOH of the 71 ligands per gold nanoparticle) with functionalized dendrons. Transmission electron microscope results showed that this synthesis strategy maintains the average size of the nanoparticle core during dendron coupling reactions. This control over the composition and core size makes the systematic study of NCDs with different generations possible. The chemical stability of NCDs was found to be affected by dendron generation around the nanoparticle core. The current-potential response of NCD films on microelectrode arrays exhibited better electrical conductivity for NCDs with lower dendron generation.  相似文献

We report a new method in which spontaneous self‐assembly is employed to synthesize monodisperse polymer nanoparticles with controlled size (<50 nm), shape, tunable functionality, and enhanced solvent and thermal stability. Cooperative noncovalent interactions, such as hydrogen bonding and aromatic π–π stacking, assist self‐assembly of amphiphilic macromolecules (polystyrene‐block‐polyvinylpyridine, PS? PVP) and structure directing agents (SDAs) to form both spherical and anisotropic solid polymer nanoparticles with SDAs residing in the particle core surrounded by the polymers. Through detailed investigations by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), we have rationalized nanoparticle morphology evolution and dependence on factors such as SDA concentration and PVP size. By keeping the PS chain size constant, the particle morphology progresses from continuous films to spherical particles, and on to cylindrical nanowires or rods with increasing the PVP chain size. The final nanoparticles are very stable and can be redispersed in common solvents to form homogenous solutions and thin films of ordered nanoparticle arrays through solvent evaporation processes. These nanoparticles exhibit tunable fluorescent colors (or emissions) depending on the choices of the central SDAs. Our method is simple and general without requiring complicated synthetic chemistry, stabilizing surfactants, or annealing procedures (e.g., temperature or solvent annealing), making scalable synthesis feasible.  相似文献

A simple method is described for preparing ultrathin films of carbon-supported platinum nanoparticles on gold and other substrates for examination by electrochemical infrared reflection–absorption spectroscopy (EC-IRAS) in which the anomalous “anti-absorbance” properties commonly observed for metal particle arrays can be minimized as well as controlled. The tactic involves physical deposition as an aqueous suspension, followed by drying and thorough rinsing. The Pt monolayer-level films prepared by this means exhibit largely positive unipolar absorbance bands for CO adlayers, whereas an anomalous inverted band component appears for thicker films, especially those featuring high Pt nanoparticle loadings. These findings demonstrate the value of the film preparation tactic for exploring the electrocatalytic properties of C/Pt materials by using combined electrochemical and EC-IRAS measurements.  相似文献
