Modifications to a cyclic interferometer have been made in order to obtain interference with lateral displacement, or linear compression, of the wavefronts in orthogonal axes. The interference patterns recorded with these shears are compared to the interference patterns obtained with conventional lateral and linear compressive shears.  相似文献

A new method for studying transparent objects with a small transverse size is considered. The method is based on lateral-shift holographic interferometry combining the displacement of the transparent object under investigation between the recordings of a pair of holographic interference patterns and their optical treatment. The interference patterns of the transparent object under investigation with a lateral shift equal to or larger than the linear size of the object are equivalent to the interference patterns obtained in a double-beam interferometer with a reference wave. In addition, such patterns are characterized by a higher sensitivity of imaging of optical inhomogeneities of the object under investigation. The results of experiments on testing this method for monitoring optical inhomogeneities of the active medium crystal of a solid-state laser are reported. The resultant interference patterns depict optical inhomogeneity of the crystal with a sensitivity 12 times higher.  相似文献

Two-dimensional (2D) polarization patterns are achieved by the interference of two pairs of beams with perpendicular planes of incidence and orthogonal polarizations (i.e. linear or circular). In both cases, imposing a phase shift of π/2 between consecutive beams contains the amplitude modulation of the optical field in the superposition region and, thus, pure 2D polarization patterns are created. The recording of these interference fields in a polarization-sensitive material, namely an amorphous azopolymer, creates reconfigurable 2D periodic microstructures with peculiar diffraction properties.  相似文献

一般国内的大学物理和大学物理实验教材都只介绍干涉圆条纹和直线干涉条纹,用迈克耳孙干涉仪可以调制出椭圆和双曲线干涉条纹;但对条纹形成的理论推导很少涉及.本文根据点光源双光束干涉理论,分析基于点光源照明的迈克耳孙干涉实验中所产生的各种可能的干涉条纹:双曲线形干涉条纹、圆形干涉纹、椭圆形干涉纹及直线形干涉纹的形成条件.本文也对等倾干涉条纹、等厚干涉条纹与既非等倾也非等厚干涉条纹的机理进行分析和比较.通过对每一种干涉图样的解析分析和比较,旨在对迈克耳孙干涉实验有更全面和更深刻的了解.  相似文献

The principle and the method of a new automatic focusing system are presented in this paper. The system is constructed relying on the relationship between laser wave interference patterns and defocusing displacement. A CCD linear array receives interference patterns in the form of light intensity, which are converted into digital signals afterwards. Then the computer controls a stepping motor to complete auto-focusing process according to the digital results. The system has been applied in a kind of film resolution testing instrument and it shows that it has the advantage of high accuracy, high speed and wide applications.  相似文献

Instabilities in the operation of a two-mode He-Ne laser are observed with the help of interference of polarized beams. Two interference patterns created by two radiation modes alternatively appear. The contrast of the interference pattern increases under the action of an external constant magnetic field on the laser. If one of the interfering beams is delayed sufficiently long, the instability manifests itself in the motion of interference fringes in a direction that depends on which of the two beams is delayed. The particular features of the evolution of the interference pattern are explained based on interference equations for the two modes that take into account the orthogonality of the linear polarizations of the modes, as well as changes in their amplitudes and frequencies.  相似文献

A method for obtaining interference patterns of increased sensitivity in optical processing of holographic lateral shear interferograms recorded under linear conditions at a shear exceeding the size of a phase object under study is proposed. Cases of reconstruction of interference patterns of increased sensitivity using matched and optically conjugate holographic lateral shear interferograms are considered. It is shown that two-and fourfold increases in sensitivity, respectively, are obtained in these cases. The validity of the method proposed is confirmed experimentally  相似文献

We demonstrate a method for reconstruction of the modal intensity distribution of light at the output of an optical fiber. Spatial modes of the optical fiber are separated in time as a result of differences in group velocity and are detected experimentally by observation of the interference of the modal field distribution with the time-gating reference field. The detected interference patterns of the modal fields are analyzed, providing the spatial impulse response of the fiber. We also use interferometric correlation to determine the spatiotemporal characteristics of the fiber modes, such as pulse width, linear chirp, and group velocity, for each mode.  相似文献

We study a scheme for Mach-Zehnder(MZ) interferometer as a quantum linear device by injecting two-mode squeezed input states into two ports of interferometer.Two-mode squeezed states can be changed into two types of inputs for MZ interferometer:two squeezed states and Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen(EPR) entangled states.The interference patterns of the MZ interferometer vary periodically as the relative phase of the two arms of the interferometer is scanned,and are measured by the balanced homodyne detection system.Our experiments show that there are different interference patterns and periodicity of the output quantum states for two cases which depend on the relative phase of input optical fields.Since MZ interferometer can be used to realize some quantum operations,this work will have the important applications in quantum information and metrology.  相似文献

Nonlinear effects in the interference of Bose-Einstein condensates are studied using exact solutions of the one-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equation, which is applicable when the lateral motion is confined or negligible. With the inverse scattering method, the interference pattern is studied as a scattering problem with the linear Schrodinger equation, whose potential is profiled by the initial density distribution of the condensates. Our theory not only provides an analytical framework for quantitative predictions for the one-dimensional case, it also gives an intuitive understanding of some mysterious features of the interference patterns observed in experiments and numerical simulations.  相似文献

晶体会聚偏光干涉图包含了晶体特性的许多信息,建立偏光干涉图的定量分析方法可以使这些信息得到充分利用。基于双轴晶体折射时满足的波矢关系,导出了两折射光波相位差的精确计算公式。分析了光波在各界面折射时偏振态的变化,提出了会聚偏光干涉合成振幅的计算方法。针对任意取向的双轴晶体,计算了完整的偏光干涉图,反映了相位分布决定等色线、振幅分布决定消光影的规律。用数字图像模似了干涉图,并讨论了干涉图的变化情况。对4块不同取向的KTP晶片进行实验,实验干涉图与理论干涉图的特征完全一致,两者仔细对比可判断现有KTP晶体色散方程的优劣。  相似文献

In this research we implemented a two windows interferometer based on polarization phase shifting and grating interferometry techniques in order to retrieve the phase data profile of the object in a single capture. The optical configuration has two optical beams with circular polarization in opposite directions, and it is coupled with a 4-f system. An amplitude grid is used as a filter which is placed at the Fourier plane to obtain replicas of each beam which can properly interfere, depending on the separation between beams. The interferometer presents the capability of changing the beam separation in order to make different orders interfere properly. The interference patterns produced can be separately modulated through the operation of linear polarizer's placed on each interference replica. In order to present the capabilities of the system we will select four interferograms result of contiguous orders interference.  相似文献

We investigate the coherence properties of a linear array of white-light sources produced in bulk media by ultrashort laser pulses. The array is generated out of the spatial interference pattern between two laser pump pulses, so that the number of supercontinuum sources and their separations can be easily manipulated by varying the geometry of the laser beam interaction. We find that all the secondary white-light sources which arise from the generation of filaments in the optical medium are well phase-locked and are thus able to generate stable and high-visibility multiple-beam interference patterns in the far-field. Observations are compared to the results of a simple model which takes into account a clamping of the peak laser intensity inside the filaments and includes intensity-dependent phase shifts among the different sources. The results of experimental and theoretical investigations of the X-ray diffraction patterns from double- or triple-crystal systems and a thick absorbing crystal are presented. The period of the fringe patterns from the double-crystal system is calculated. An expression for calculating the linear enlargement factor in the presence of a crystal-magnifier is deduced. It is proved that the crystal-magnifier does not change the interference pattern but only increases its angular sizes in the scattering plane.  相似文献

We show that single and multislit experiments involving matter waves may be constructed to assess dispersively generated correlations between the position and momentum of a single free particle. These correlations give rise to position dependent phases which develop dynamically as a result of dispersion and may play an important role in the interference patterns. To the extent that initial transverse coherence is preserved throughout the proposed diffraction setup, such interference patterns are noticeably different from those of a classical dispersion free wave.  相似文献

In this article, a simple and efficient technique for the wideband shaped beam and sector beam pattern generation with their adaptive interference rejection is proposed. A microcontroller controlled and time delay based beam forming network for simultaneously generating multiple beams, shaped beam and sector beam is conceptualized. The antenna patterns considered here is formed by linear array of isotropic elements grouped as subarray. The shaped and sector beam synthesis procedure is practically simplified by simultaneous adding the constituents beams from the subarrays, was theoretically established by Woodward and Lawson (Proc. IEE. 95(1):362–370, 1948). Apart from the shaped beam generation a technique for adaptive interference rejection in shaped patterns using combination of time delay and phase shifter is discussed. This topic promises good prospect for wideband pattern generation and interference rejection.  相似文献

We study the temporal evolution of speckle patterns in transmission of short wave pulses through a disordered waveguide. In the diffuse regime, the short-range spatial structure of speckles is the same as for the continuous-wave (cw) illumination, whereas the long-range correlation between distant speckle spots grows linearly with time and can exceed its cw value. We discuss the physical origin of this phenomenon, compare our results to recent microwave experiments, and suggest that a similar linear growth with time should also be characteristic for other mesoscopic interference phenomena.  相似文献

Wave properties of solitons in a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate are investigated in detail.We demonstrate that dark solitons in one of components admit interference and tunneling behavior,in sharp contrast to the scalar dark solitons and vector dark solitons.Analytic analyses of interference properties show that spatial interference patterns are determined by the relative velocity of solitons,while temporal interference patterns depend on the velocities and widths of two solitons,differing from the interference properties of scalar bright solitons.Especially,for an attractive interactions system,we show that interference effects between the two dark solitons can induce some short-time density humps(whose densities are higher than background density).Moreover,the maximum hump value is remarkably sensitive to the variation of the solitons' parameters.For a repulsive interactions system,the temporal-spatial interference periods of dark-bright solitons have lower limits.Numerical simulation results suggest that interference patterns for the dark-bright solitons are more robust against noises than bright-dark solitons.These explicit interference properties can be used to measure the velocities and widths of solitons.It is expected that these interference behaviors can be observed experimentally and can be used to design matter wave soliton interferometer in vector systems.  相似文献
