West Spitsbergen fjords have been probed (on shipboard) by a compact Raman lidar (Wave Research Center, Prokhorov General Physics Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences), based on a pulsed diode-pumped Nd3+:YVO4 laser with frequency doubling, in August, 2011. The evolution of lidar signal spectra (Raman, fluorescence, and elastic scattering) when approaching the Paulabreen glacier of the Rinders Fjord has been measured. A new phenomenon was discovered: the formation of an immiscible layer of relict thaw water from the glacier on the sea surface. An increase in the layer thickness (to 5?C10 cm near the glacier) was accompanied by a decrease in the layer temperature (which was determined by measuring the distortion of the OH Raman band) and the content of phytoplankton and dissolved organic matter to zero, with a simultaneous increase in the Rayleigh scattering amplitude and a change in the surface color from blue to gray. Smoothing of the rippled sea surface (covered by relict water) at the border of the wake trace (which it rolled down from) was observed for the first time, as far as we know. The mechanism of the formation of a supercooled (t ? 0°C) layer and screening the heat diffusion, which reduces the contribution of the relatively warm sea water (??3°C) to the thermal balance of Arctic and global climate, is discussed.  相似文献

氮和磷是水环境生物生长和繁殖必须的营养成分,影响水体初级生产力的水平,且水体富营养化水平与氮磷形态密切相关,随着水体环境的改变,沉积物会向水体释放氮磷,造成二次污染。同时,对外源氮磷污染来源的贡献进行定量识别,可有效管理和控制水体氮磷污染负荷。毗河和石亭江是沱江的重要支流,影响着长江母亲河的水质。采用钼锑抗分光光度法和连续提取法研究在枯水期和丰水期毗河和石亭江水体和表层沉积物中总氮(TN)、总磷(TP)及各形态氮磷的分布特性,对比不同土地利用类型河流氮磷行为特性及释放风险,并采用Multiple Linear Regression of the Absolute Principal Component Scores(APCS-MLR)受体模型进行氮磷污染源的识别和量化。研究结果表明:(1)研究区水体和表层沉积物中氮磷均处于不同程度的污染水平,水体枯水期TP的主要贡献者是颗粒态无机磷(PIP)和颗粒态有机磷(POP),而丰水期却是颗粒态无机磷(PIP)和溶解态无机磷(DIP),两水期水体中TN的主要贡献者是硝态氮(NO-3-N)和有机氮(ON)...  相似文献

Floodplain wetlands influence the timing and magnitude of stream responses to rainfall. In managing and sustaining the level of water resource usage in any river catchment as well as when modelling hydrological processes, it is essential that the role of floodplain wetlands in stream flows is recognised and understood. Existing studies on hydrology within the Volta River basin have not adequately represented the variability of wetland hydrological processes and their contribution to the sustenance of river flow. In order to quantify the extent of floodwater storage within riparian wetlands and their contribution to subsequent river discharges, a series of complementary studies were conducted by utilising stable isotopes, physical monitoring of groundwater levels and numerical modelling. The water samples were collected near Pwalugu on the White Volta River and at three wetland sites adjacent to the river using the grab sampling technique. These were analysed for 18O and 2H. The analysis provided an estimate of the contribution of pre-event water to overall stream flow. In addition, the variation in the isotopic composition in the river and wetland water samples, respectively, revealed the pattern of flow and exchange of water between the wetlands and the main river system.  相似文献

Beaver Lake and Radok Lake, the largest known epishelf lake and the deepest freshwater lake on the Antarctic continent, respectively, were isotopically (δ(2)H, δ(18)O) and hydrogeochemically studied. Radok Lake is an isothermal and non-stratified, i.e. homogeneous water body, while Beaver Lake is stratified with respect to temperature, salinity, and isotopic composition. Until now much of the modelling activity around close-coupled gas atomization has been mainly focused on gas-only flow with discrete phase interaction using Lagrangian-based models. However, this approach is unable to supply valuable information regarding the primary break-up mechanism of the melt being injected. Furthermore, much of existing numerical work is based on two-dimensional axisymmetric geometries, and therefore suffers the absence of three-dimensional flow features. In order to overcome these aspects the authors have carried out an analysis using a three-dimensional geometry by means of an Eulerian, Volume of Fluid, model to accurately present the early stages of melt stream behaviour at the atomizer’s melt inlet. The study investigates the mechanisms associated with primary break-up, and the results obtained highlight three modes under which a close-coupled atomizer may operate.  相似文献

The isotopic composition of tree-ring cellulose was obtained over a two-year period from small diameter, riparian zone trees along an elevational transect in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah, USA to test for a possible temperature dependence of net biological fractionation during cellulose synthesis. The isotope ratios of stream water varied by only 3.6% and 0.2% in deltaD and delta18O, respectively, over an elevation change of 810m. The similarity in stream water and macroenvironment over the short (13km) transect produced nearly constant stem and leaf water deltaD and delta18O values. In addition, what few seasonal variations observed in the isotopic composition of source water and atmospheric water vapor or in leaf water evaporative enrichment were experienced equally by all sites along the elevational transect. The temperature at each site along the transect spanned a range of > or = 5 degrees C as calculated using the adiabatic lapse rate. Since the deltaD and delta18O values of stem and leaf water varied little for these trees over this elevation/temperature transect, any differences in tree-ring cellulose deltaD and delta18O values should have been associated with temperature effects on net biological fractionation. However, the slopes of the regressions of elevation versus the deltaD and delta18O values of tree-ring cellulose were not significantly different from zero indicating little or no temperature dependence of net biological fractionation. Therefore, cross-site climatic reconstruction studies using the isotope ratios of cellulose need not be concerned that temperatures during the growing season have influenced results.  相似文献

The investigations performed during several years in the Western Pamir at an altitude of 4000 m above sea level (glacier glade Fortambek and glade Fortambek) have revealed a difference of 20–30% between the fluxes of electrons with energies below 1 MeV and thermal neutrons on the glacier and glade (smaller for the glacier), which is most likely due to the different albedos of thermal neutrons in secondary cosmic rays for the interfaces between two media: air/glacier (water) and air/soil, and, therefore, to the different contributions of electrons from neutron β decay.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of hydrological, physicochemical, biological, and isotopic investigations of the Danube River along the stretch through Serbian territory conducted during four campaigns in September and November 2007, September 2008 and April 2009. The stable isotope values exhibited significant changes both in the Danube (?10.7 to?9.5‰ for δ18O and?73.7 to?67.1 ‰ for δ2H) and in its tributaries (?9.1 to?8.5‰ for δ18O and?69.4 to?59.4‰ for δ2H) depending on the time of survey, which could be partly attributed to the influences of seasonal effects. Results emphasise the dominant role of tributaries inflows from aquifers along the Danube. The very narrow range of δ13CPOC (from?28.9 to?27.4 ‰) was associated with relatively high C/N ratios (C/N>9), and together with δ15NTPN values, the date suggested that, in early spring, a major fraction of particulate organic matter was derived from allochthonous matter. An orthogonal varimax rotation of the principal components analysis identified four latent factors (‘mineral related’, ‘biological’, ‘hardness’, and ‘soil inlets’) which are responsible for the data structure covering 79% of the observed variations among the variables studied. A reliable grouping of samples with respect to the season was found.  相似文献

The thermal conditions for the growth of Ge crystals with a diameter of 50 mm by the vertical Bridgman method in the case of low thermal-gravitational convection are studied using model experiments. Distilled water being hydrodynamically similar to the Ge melt is used as the model liquid. When modelling by means of the light cut method, it is established that mixture particles move along the heat flow direction from top to bottom. It is shown that an axial temperature gradient of 2 K/cm or more increases the contribution of thermal diffusion to mass transfer at a vertical flow rate of 0.09 mm/s or more. The numerical simulation of thermal convection in the Oberbeck–Boussinesq approximation confirms the absence of convection under the given thermal conditions. However, the deviation of the container axis from the vertical by 0.5° during the process of crystal growth contributes to the increase in the flow rates in the liquid phase up to 0.55 mm/s.  相似文献

为了解2017年-2018年非采暖季、采暖季PM2.5污染较轻时期和采暖季PM2.5污染较重时期太原市城区大气PM2.5及其附着的15种金属及类金属元素(铝、砷、钙、镉、铬、铜、铁、钾、镁、锰、钠、镍、铅、钒和锌)的分布特征及主要来源,在太原市城区的尖草坪区解放北路、迎泽区新建南路和双塔寺街三个监测点使用中流量颗粒物采样器连续采集6 d且每天不少于20 h的大气PM2.5滤膜样品。PM2.5滤膜样品用微波消解法进行前处理后,使用电感耦合等离子体质谱(ICP-MS)检测其中15种金属及类金属元素的含量。通过描述性统计方法分析和比较三个监测点大气PM2.5及其附着的15种金属及类金属元素日均浓度在时间和空间上分布的差异,进一步采用富集因子法和主成分分析法分析其聚集特征和主要来源。结果发现各采样点大气PM2.5及其附着的15种金属及类金属元素的日均浓度在整体上呈现的趋势为:采暖季污染较重时期>采暖季污染较轻时期>非采暖季;各监测期大气中PM2.5及其附着的大多数金属及类金属元素的日均浓度在3个监测点间无显著性差异(p<0.01);PM2.5上附着的15种金属及类金属元素的主要来源在非采暖季是土壤扬尘、建筑扬尘和冶金工业,其贡献率分别为32.03%,30.52%和18.26%,在采暖期污染较轻时,主要来源是建筑、土壤和冶金工业的混合源、建筑和生物质燃烧混合源以及土壤,其贡献率分别为37.98%,37.05%和16.55%,在采暖期污染较重时,主要来源是建筑和生物质燃烧混合源,建筑、土壤和冶金工业的混合源以及土壤,其贡献率分别为40.62%,35.52%和13.96%。与往年的相关研究结果相比,虽然近年来太原市对PM2.5的污染源如冶金工业、机动车和燃煤等的污染物排放控制有所成效,但还应进一步加强对生物质燃烧、土壤扬尘、建筑扬尘和冶金工业污染源的管控措施。  相似文献

In the Mansfeld region (Central Germany) copper mining contributed to an enormous pollution of the environment. Metal- and sulphate-bearing sediments and leachates emerge from the former copper smelters and mining waste heaps, spread along local rivers and finally reach the Saale river. A sulphur isotope study on water and stream sediments was performed along the River "B?se Sieben" and from its tributaries to determine the different sulphur sources. Four major sulphur sources exist in the area: metal sulphide mineralisations (Kupferschiefer), met alliferous sulphidic flue dust, slag, and anhydrite and gypsum of Permian and Triassic age. We obtained delta34S(SO4)-values in water samples varying from +4 per thousand to -18 per thousand CDT, clearly reflecting the input of sulphate from different sources. Sulphate from the oxidation of sulphidic mining residues is restricted to the mining area and cannot be traced for more than 5 km downstream. The major source for sulphate is the dissolution of gypsum and anhydrite. The sulphur isotope composition in dissolved and sedimentary adsorbed sulphate differs only slightly from each other. Microbial dissimilatory sulphate reduction can not be excluded in the shallow sediment layers.  相似文献

Summary The complex impedance of a water-filled cell has been measured in the frequency range between 0.01 Hz and 100 kHz at temperatures ranging between 5°C and 80°C. The obtained results have been interpreted according to the Gouy, Chapmann and Stern model describing the water behaviour in the presence of electrode interfaces. The deconvolution of the measured complex impedance allowed to separate the contribution arising from the ?bulk? water from those due to the Helmholtz layer and to the diffuse charge layer occurring at the electrode interface. The capacitance and resistance of the three layers are reported and their frequency and temperature dependences are briefly discussed. The use of this method as a tool to investigate the low-frequency dielectric properties of water is suggested.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The Lake Chad Basin (LCB) is an endorheic transboundary catchment highly vulnerable to drought. For effective groundwater management, recharge areas need identification and replenishment quantification. At present, little research exploring unsaturated zone water flow processes and groundwater recharge are available. In this study, 12 vertical soil profiles were analysed for stable water isotopes and chloride concentration to estimate evaporation and groundwater renewal. Most δ18O and δ2H isotope profiles reveal typical arid environment patterns, with maximum enrichment at depths between 2.5 and 20?cm and depletion towards the surface (atmospheric influence) and depth (mixing and diffusion). Average annual dry season evaporation rates in Salamat and Waza Logone range from 5 to 30?mm, in Bahr el Ghazal and Northern Lake Chad from 14 to 23?mm. According to the chloride mass balance (CMB), the average annual recharge rate is estimated between 3 and 163?mm in Salamat and Waza Logone and less than 1 mm in Bahr el Ghazal and Northern Lake Chad. Based on the CMB results, potential recharge sites were identified, while estimated soil evaporation corresponds to plant water use at the initial growing stage, which is an important component in irrigation water management.  相似文献

The view that the intercalation of a polymer in an unmodified smectite clay is driven by the entropic increase that results from displacement of adsorbed water is re-assessed in the light of experiments that show rapid melt intercalation into a clay that has been heat-treated to remove gallery water. Dehydrated smectite clays with collapsed layers take up poly(ethylene glycol) from the melt in only 1?ks or from aqueous solution in under 18?ks, re-establishing the basal plane spacing to that for intercalation in untreated clay, 1.8?nm. Differential scanning calorimetry showed that the intercalation of poly(ethylene glycol) into montmorillonite is exothermic with an enthalpy change of ?153?J?g?1 based on the intercalated polymer and the heat of wetting for the internal surfaces of montmorillonite by poly(ethylene glycol) is ?0.08?J?m?2. These results confirm the observation of re-expansion of heat-treated clays and imply that the reduction in free energy on intercalation results from a significant enthalpic change as well as an entropic change for clays with interlayer water, and primarily from an enthalpic change for clay in the absence of water.  相似文献

Based on the monthly δ18O value measured over a hydrology period in precipitation, runoff of five tributaries and the main lake of the Poyang Lake Basin, combined with hydrological and meteorological data, the characteristics of δ18O in precipitation (δ18OPPT) and runoff (δ18OSUR) are discussed. The δ18OPPT and δ18OSUR values range from?2.75 to?14.12 ‰ (annual mean value=?7.13 ‰ ) and from?2.30 to?8.56 ‰, respectively. The seasonal variation of δ18OPPT is controlled by the air mass circulation in this region, which is dominated by the Asian summer monsoon and the Siberian High during winter. The correlation between the wet seasonal averages of δ18OSUR in runoff of the rivers and δ18OPPT of precipitation at the corresponding stations shows that in the Poyang Lake catchment area the river water consists of 23% direct runoff (precipitation) and 77% base flow (shallow groundwater). This high proportion of groundwater in the river runoff points to the prevalence of wetland conditions in the Poyang Lake catchment during rainy season. Considering the oxygen isotopic composition of the main body of Poyang Lake, no isotopic enrichment relative to river inflow was found during the rainy season with maximum expansion of the lake. Thus, evaporation causing isotopic enrichment is a minor component of the lake water balance in the rainy period. During dry season, a slight isotopic enrichment has been observed, which suggests a certain evaporative loss of lake water in that period.  相似文献
