First-principles calculations show that monatomic strings of carbon have high cohesive energy and axial strength, and exhibit stability even at high temperatures. Because of their flexibility and reactivity, carbon chains are suitable for structural and chemical functionalizations; they also form stable ring, helix, grid, and network structures. Analysis of electronic conductance of various infinite, finite, and doped string structures reveal fundamental and technologically interesting features. Changes in doping and geometry give rise to dramatic variations in conductance. In even-numbered linear chains, strain induces a substantial decrease of conductance. The double covalent bonding of carbon atoms underlies their unusual chemical, mechanical, and transport properties.  相似文献

微型电子回旋共振(ECR)离子推力器可满足微小航天器空间探测的推进需求. 为此, 本文开展直径20 mm的微型ECR离子源结构优化实验研究. 根据放电室内静磁场和ECR谐振区的分布特点, 研究不同微波耦合输入位置对离子源性能的影响, 结果表明环形天线处在高于ECR谐振强度的强磁场区域时, 微波与等离子体实现无损耦合, 电子共振加热效果显著, 引出离子束流较大. 根据放电室电磁截止特性, 结合微波电场计算, 研究放电容积对离子源性能的影响, 实验表明过长或过短的腔体长度会导致引出离子束流下降甚至等离子体熄灭. 经优化后离子源性能测试表明, 在入射微波功率2.1 W、氩气流量14.9 μg/s下, 可引出离子束流5.4 mA, 气体放电损耗和利用率分别为389 W/A和15%.  相似文献

In this Letter we study the evolution of an initial periodic modulation in the temporal profile of a relativistic electron beam under the effect of longitudinal space-charge forces. Linear theory predicts a periodic exchange of the modulation between the density and the energy profiles at the beam plasma frequency. For large enough initial modulations, wave breaking occurs after 1/2 period of plasma oscillation leading to the formation of short current spikes. We confirm this effect by direct measurements on a ps-modulated electron beam from an rf photoinjector. These results are useful for the generation of intense electron pulse trains for advanced accelerator applications.  相似文献

The structure and properties of pulsating solitons (breathers) in the spiral structures of magnets are analyzed within the sine-Gordon model. The breather core pulsations are shown to be accompanied by local shifts and oscillations of the spiral structure with the formation of “precursors” and “tails” in the moving soliton. The possibilities for the observation and excitation of breathers in the spiral structures of magnets and multiferroics are discussed.  相似文献

<正>Multiple charge ions (MCIs) are necessary for increasing the output energy of particles in accelerators. In general, MCI beams are largely produced by electron beam ion source (EBIS) [1], laser ion source (LIS) [2], or high-frequency (mostly 5 GHz) electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion source [3]. Among these, only ECR ion source can operate in the continuous wave (CW) mode, while EBIS and LIS only support pulses. In addition, ECR ion source with lower frequency (mostly 2.45 GHz) are required primarily for generating single charge state ions, because the corresponding ECR field (875 Gs) is not sufficiently strong for MCI generation [4].  相似文献

利用两维particle-in-cell方法研究了半圆形容器表面等离子体源离子注入过程中鞘层的时空演化规律. 详尽考察了鞘层内随时间变化的电势分布和离子密度分布规律,离子在鞘层中的运动轨迹和运动状态,得到了半圆容器内、外表面和边缘平面上各点离子注入剂量分布规律,获得了工件表面各点注入离子的入射角分布规律. 研究结果揭示了半圆容器边缘附近鞘层中离子聚焦现象,以及离子聚焦现象导致工件表面注入剂量分布和注入角度分布存在很大不均匀的基本物理规律. 关键词: 等离子体源离子注入 鞘层 两维particle-in-cell方法 离子运动轨迹  相似文献

CRYSIS is an electron beam ion source (EBIS) with a superconducting solenoid. Highly charged ions are delivered to the acceleration and storage ring CRYRING [ K. Abrahamsson et al., Nucl. Instr. Methods B 79 (1993) 269.], SMILETRAP [C. Carlberg et al., Phys. Scr. T 59 (1995) 196.] and to low energy atomic and surface physics experiments. Stable electron beam currents up to 700 mA are obtained, in order to enhance the ion yield out of the EBIS. Measurements of the total charge per pulse at different working conditions and electron beam current density measurements were done. At electron beam currents of 600 mA yields up to 2.5 × 1010 charges per pulse could be measured. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Results are presented from a study of physical characteristics of a heavy hydrogen isotope ion source using a gas filled accelerator tube for neutron generation based on a coaxial system with central filament anode. High and low current operating modes of such a source are considered, together with factors affecting its operation. Mass-spectrometer and current-voltage characteristics of orbitron ion sources are considered. The electron temperature gradient mode has been proposed to be a source of experimentally relevant electron thermal transport, via a variety of non-linear phenomena such as the generation of streamers. The question of streamer stability and saturation is revisited, with the effects of geometry and perturbation stability highlighted. It is shown that the streamer saturation level is not determined by the balance of Kelvin–Helmholtz rate vs. linear growth rate, but by balancing the non-linear Kelvin–Helmholtz drive against damping mechanisms of the Kelvin–Helmholtz perturbation, suggesting a significantly lower streamer saturation level. In addition, random shear suppression of ETG turbulence by drift-ion temperature gradient (DITG) modes is studied, and it is found that streamers will be sensitive to shearing by short-wavelength DITG modes. An additional interaction mechanism, modulations of the electron temperature gradient induced by the DITG turbulence, is considered and shown to be quite significant. These considerations are used to motivate a discussion of the requirements for a credible theory of streamer transport.  相似文献

We analyze the effect of a conducting waveguide on the dynamics of the ion hose instability of a relativistic electron beam propagating in a rarefied gas-plasma medium in the ion focusing regime. It is shown using the linear theory of the instability under investigation that a decrease in the waveguide radius noticeably stabilizes the ion hose instability. In addition, it is noted that radial narrowing of the ion channel relative to the beam considerably decreases the amplitude of hose oscillations.  相似文献

Nonlinear oscillations of an electron beam with a virtual cathode in a finite-length drift tube region are examined by numerical simulation (the PIC method). The change in dynamics of the beam complex with decreasing radius of the drift tube is investigated. The dynamical nature of the stochastic oscillations produced by the virtual cathode is demonstrated by an attractor dimension analysis. Physical processes in the electron beam are studied. It is found that one mechanism responsible for the chaotic behavior of the electron beam is due to the nonlinear interaction between the autostructures organized in it.State University, Saratov. Following a suggestion of Kraemmer and Nielsen the possibility that the dual fermion model may be obtained by quantising a classical theory of a twistable string is discussed. Quantisation conditions are obtained which, for one value of a dimensionless constant ?/β, are represented by this dual model, but in consequence the classical limit cannot be taken without departing from the model. The appropriate representation of the algebra of Virasoro gauge conditions is obtained but the additional fermion gauge conditions would seem to be a quantum phenomenon in this picture.  相似文献

本文理论计算了多峰离子源永磁体, 采用二体碰撞模型(binary collision)处理电子之间的库仑碰撞, 采用空碰撞(null-collision)方法处理电子与氢元素相关粒子, 开发了全三维PIC-MCC模拟算法, 并利用该算法模拟了多峰离子源中电子沉积过程, 分析了多峰磁场对电子的空间和能量分布影响, 结果显示: 电子的非均匀分布起源于高能电子在引出区的B× ▽B漂移.  相似文献

We investigate the Ward identities of theW symmetry in the super-Liouville theory coupled to the super-conformal matter of central charge . The theory is classified into two chiralities. For the positive chirality, all gravitationally dressed scaling operators are generated from theq–1 gravitational primaries by one of the ring generators in the R-sector acting on them repeatedly. After fixing the normalizations of the dressed scaling operators, we find that the Ward identities are expressed in the form of theusual W q algebra constraints as in the bosonic case:W n (k+1) ,=0, (k=1,...,q–1;nZ1–k), where the equations for even and oddn come from the currents in the NS- and the R-sector respectively. The non-linear terms come from the anomalous contributions at the boundaries of moduli space. The negative chirality is defined by interchanging the roles ofp andq. A modified electron bombardment type ion source suitable for use with mass spectrometer is described. Ion formation occurs throughout a relatively large volume in the ionisation box, since no magnetic field is used to collimate the ionising electrons. A sensitivity of 2 × 10−5 amp/torr is obtained for an ion extraction energy of 2 keV and 200 mass resolution. Trajectory tracing has been used to study the operation of the ion source. Capability of the ion source to analyse solid samples in microgram quantity was tested by studying evaporation of BaO from tungsten.  相似文献

In this paper, we focus on a PIG source for producing intense H-ions inside a 9 MeV cyclotron. The properties of the PIG ion source were simulated for a variety of electric field distributions and magnetic field strengths using a CST particle studio. After analyzing the secondary electron emission (SEE) as a function of both magnetic and electric field strengths, we found that for the modeled PIG geometry, a magnetic field strength of 0.2 T provided the best results in terms of the number of secondary electrons. Furthermore, at 0.2 T, the number of secondary electrons proved to be greatest regardless of the cathode potential. Also, the modified PIG ion source with quartz insulation tubes was tested in a KIRAMS-13 cyclotron by varying the gas flow rate and arc current, respectively. The capacity of the designed ion source was also demonstrated by producing plasma inside the constructed 9 MeV cyclotron. As a result, the ion source is verified as being capable of producing an intense H- beam and high ion beam current for the desired 9 MeV cyclotron. The simulation results provide experimental constraints for optimizing the strength of the plasma and final ion beam current at a target inside a cyclotron.  相似文献
