A 100-fold preconcentration procedure based on rare-earth elements (REEs) separation from water samples with an extraction chromatographic column has been developed. The separation of REEs from matrix elements (mainly Fe, alkaline and alkaline-earth elements) in water samples was performed loading the samples, previously acidified to pH 2.0 with HNO3, in a 2 ml column preconditioned with 20 ml 0.01 M HNO3. Subsequently, REEs were quantitatively eluted with 20 ml 7 M HNO3. This solution was evaporated to dryness and the final residue was dissolved in 10 ml 2% HNO3 containing 1 μg l−1 of cesium used as internal standard. The solution was directly analysed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), using ultrasonic nebulization, obtaining quantification limits ranging from 0.05 to 0.10 ng l−1. The proposed method has been applied to granitic waters running through fracture fillings coated by iron and manganese oxy-hydroxides in the area of the Ratones (Cáceres, Spain) old uranium mine.  相似文献

A flow injection analysis system for on-line preconcentration and simultaneous determination of Bi3+, Cd2+, Co2+, Cu2+, Fe3+, Ni2+, Pb2+ and Zn2+ in aqueous samples by inductively coupled plasma (ICP)-atomic emission spectrometry with a charge coupled detector is described. The preconcentration of analytes is accomplished by retention of their chelates with sodium diethyldithiocarbamate in aqueous solution on a solid phase containing octadecyl silica in a minicolumn. Methanol, as eluent, is introduced into the conventional nebulizer of the ICP instrument. The effects of different parameters, including preconcentration flow rate (equal to sample flow rate (SR)), eluent flow rate (ER), weight of solid phase (W) and eluent loop volume (EV), were optimized by the super-modified simplex method. The optimum conditions were evaluated to be SR 7.2 ml min−1, ER 3.5 ml min−1, W of 100 mg and EV of 0.8 ml. An enrichment factor of 312.5 for each analyte was obtained. The detection limits of the proposed method for Bi3+, Cd2+, Co2+, Cu2+, Fe3+, Ni2+, Pb2+ and Zn2+ were evaluated as 1.3, 1.0, 0.8, 0.3, 14.7, 0.5, 5.5 and 0.1 ng l−1, respectively. The effect of several metal ions on percent recovery was also studied. The method was applied to the recovery of these heavy metals from real matrices and to the simultaneous determination of these cations in different water samples.  相似文献

This works reports the use of square-wave adsorptive stripping voltammetry (SWAdSV) for the simultaneous determination of Ni(II) and Co(II) on a rotating-disc bismuth-film electrode (BFE). The metal ions in the non-deoxygenated sample were complexed with dimethylglyoxime (DMG) and the complexes were accumulated by adsorption on the surface of the BFE. The stripping step was carried out by using a square-wave potential-time voltammetric excitation signal. Electrochemical cleaning of the bismuth film was employed, enabling the same bismuth film to be used for a series of measurements. The experimental variables (choice of the working electrode substrate, the presence of oxygen, the DMG concentration, the buffer concentration, the preconcentration potential, the accumulation time, the rotation speed and the SW parameters) as well as potential interferences were investigated and the figures of merit of the methods were established. Using the selected conditions, the 3σ limits of detection were 70 ng l−1 for Co(II) and 100 ng l−1 for Ni(II) (for 300 s of preconcentration) and the relative standard deviations were 2.3% for Co(II) and 3.9% for Ni(II) at the 2 μg l−1 level (n = 8). Finally, the method was applied to the determination of nickel and cobalt in real samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

A simplified micelle-mediated extraction methodology for the preconcentration of ultratrace levels of cadmium as a prior step to its determination by cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry (CV-AAS) has been developed. The methodology is based on the cloud point extraction (CPE) of cadmium at pH 8 by using the non-ionic surfactant polyethyleneglycolmono-p-nonylphenylether (PONPE 7.5) without adding any chelating agent. Cadmium cold vapor was generated from 2 ml of the extracted surfactant-rich phase by means of sodium tetrahydroborate (3%, w/v) as a reducing agent and hydrochloric acid (0.2 mol l−1) as a carrier solution. Several important variables that affect the cloud point extraction and cold vapor cadmium generation efficiency were investigated and optimized. The preconcentration of only 50 ml of solution in the presence of 0.06% (v/v) PONPE 7.5 gives an enhancement factor of 62. The calibration graph using the preconcentration system was linear in the range of 4-100 ng l−1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9992. Detection limit (3 s) obtained in the optimal conditions was 0.56 ng l−1. The relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) for six replicate determinations at 20 ng l−1 Cd level was 3.2%. The proposed method was successfully applied to the ultratrace determination of cadmium in water samples.  相似文献

Coacervative microextraction ultrasound-assisted back-extraction technique (CME-UABE) is proposed for the first time for extracting and preconcentrating organophosphates pesticides (OPPs) from honey samples prior to gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) analysis. The extraction/preconcentration technique is supported on the micellar organized medium based on non-ionic surfactant. To enable coupling the proposed technique with GC, it was required to back extract the analytes into hexane. Several variables including, surfactant type and concentration, equilibration temperature and time, matrix modifiers, pH and buffers nature were studied and optimized over the relative response of the analytes. The best working conditions were as follows: an aliquot of 10 mL 50 g L−1 honey blend solution was conditioned by adding 100 μL 0.1 mol L−1 hydrochloric acid (pH 2) and finally extracted with 100 μL Triton X-114 100 g L−1 at 85 °C for 5 min using CME technique. Under optimal experimental conditions, the enrichment factor (EF) was 167 and limits of detection (LODs), calculated as three times the signal-to-noise ratio (S/N = 3), ranged between 0.03 and 0.47 ng g−1. The method precision was evaluated over five replicates at 1 ng g−1 with RSDs ≤9.5%. The calibration graphs were linear within the concentration range of 0.3–1000 ng g−1 for chlorpirifos; and 1–1000 ng g−1 for fenitrothion, parathion and methidathion, respectively. The coefficients of correlation were ≥0.9992. Validation of the methodology was performed by standard addition method at two concentration levels (2 and 20 ng g−1). The recoveries were ≥90%, indicating satisfactory robustness of the methodology, which could be successfully applied for determination of OPPs in honey samples of different Argentinean regions. Two of the analyzed samples showed levels of methidathion ranged between 1.2 and 2.3 ng g−1.  相似文献

The use of a permeation liquid membrane system for the preconcentration and separation of nickel in natural and sea waters and subsequent determination by atomic absorption spectroscopy is presented. 2-Hydroxybenzaldehyde N-ethylthiosemi-carbazone (2-HBET) in toluene is used as the active component of the liquid membrane. A study strategy based on a simplex design has been followed. Several chemical and physical parameters were optimized. Maximum permeation coefficient was obtained at a feed solution pH of 9.4, 0.3 mol l−1 of HNO3 in the stripping solution and 1.66 mmol l−1 of 2-HBTE in toluene as carrier. The precision of the method was 4.7% at 95% significance level and a detection limit of 0.012 μg l−1 of nickel was achieved. The preconcentration procedure showed a linear response within the studied concentration range from 3 to 500 μg l−1 of Ni in the feed solution. The method was validated with different spiked synthetic seawater and certified reference water samples: TMDA-62 and LGC 6016, without matrix interferences and showing good concordance with the certified values, being the relative errors −5.9% and −2.2%, respectively. Under optimal conditions, the average preconcentration yield for real seawater samples was 98 ± 5%, with a nickel preconcentration factor of 20.83 and metal concentrations ranging between 2.8 and 5.4 μg l−1.  相似文献

A novel method for preconcentration of methylmercury and inorganic mercury from water samples was developed involving the determination of ng l−1 levels of analytes retained on the silica C18 solid sorbent, previous complexation with ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (APDC), by slurry sampling cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry (SS-CVAAS) in a flow injection (FI) system. Several variables were optimized affecting either the retention of both mercury species, such as APDC concentration, silica C18 amount, agitation times, or their determination, including hydrochloric acid concentration in the suspension medium, peristaltic pump speed and argon flow-rate. A Plackett-Burman saturated factorial design permitted to differentiate the influential parameters on the preconcentration efficiency, which were after optimized by the sequential simplex method. The contact time between mercury containing solution and APDC, required to reach an efficient sorption, was decreased from 26 to 3 min by the use of sonication stirring instead of magnetic stirring. The use of 1 mol dm−3 hydrochloric acid suspension medium and 0.75% (m/v) sodium borohydride reducing agent permitted the selective determination of methylmercury. The combination of 5 mol dm−3 hydrochloric acid and 10−4% (m/v) sodium borohydride was used for the selective determination of inorganic mercury. The detection limits achieved for methylmercury and inorganic mercury determination under optimum conditions were 0.96 and 0.25 ng l−1, respectively. The reliability of the proposed method for the determination of both mercury species in waters was checked by the analysis of samples spiked with known concentrations of methylmercury and inorganic mercury; quantitative recoveries were obtained.  相似文献

A system for on-line preconcentration and determination of platinum by ultrasonic nebulization (USN) coupled to inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) was studied. It is based on the chemical sorption of platinum on a column packed with polyurethane foam loaded with thiocyanate reagent. The optimization step was carried out using two level full factorial design. Three variables (pH, loading flow rate (LFR) and eluent concentration) were regarded as factors in the optimization. Results of the two level factorial design 23 with three replicates of the central point for platinum preconcentration, based on the variance analysis (ANOVA), demonstrated that the factors and their interactions are not statistically significant. The proposed procedure allowed the determination of platinum with a detection limit of 0.28 μg l−1. The precision for 10 replicate determinations at 10.0 μg l−1 Pt level was 3.8% relative standard deviation (R.S.D.), calculated from the peak heights obtained. A total enhancement factor of 100 was obtained with respect to ICP-OES using pneumatic nebulization (10 for USN and 10 for preconcentration). A sampling frequency of 50 samples per hour was obtained. The effect of other ions in concentrations agreeing with water samples was studied. The addition/recovery experiments in the samples analyzed demonstrated the accuracy and applicability of the system developed for platinum determination in spiked water samples.  相似文献

We present a comparison of two sensitive methods, HPLC with fluorescence detector (HPLC/FLD) and UPLC with electrospray tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC/MS/MS), for the determination of indoleamine neurotransmitters (NTs) and their metabolites in sea lamprey plasma samples. Liquid–liquid extraction (LLE) and solid-phase extraction (SPE) were also tested for recovery and matrix effect. The recoveries of SPE determined by HPLC/FLD and UPLC/MS/MS ranged from 75 to 123% and 78 to 105%, respectively, while the recoveries of LLE ranged from 45 to 73% and 48 to 75%, respectively. SPE combined with HPLC/FLD and UPLC/MS/MS to determine the target analytes in plasma samples were validated of the sensitivity, reproducibility, accuracy and precision. Both methods exhibited excellent linearity in the range of 0.2–50 ng mL−1 for all analytes. The limits of detection (LOD) varied from 0.04 ng mL−1 to 0.13 ng mL−1 for HPLC/FLD method and 0.003 ng mL−1 to 0.02 ng mL−1 for UPLC/MS/MS method. The inter-day accuracy ranged from 82.5 to 127.0% for HPLC/FLD and 93.0 to 113.0% for UPLC/MS/MS. The inter-day precision ranged from 9.9 to 32.3% for HPLC/FLD and 5.4 to 13.2% for UPLC/MS/MS. These results demonstrated that the values obtained by both methods were within the satisfactory range and the UPLC/MS/MS method provided more accurate and precise measurements than HPLC/FLD method. The comparison is of great importance to determine the available detectors, considering the complexity and expensiveness versus quality parameters. These two methods were applied to the analysis of four important indoleamine neurotransmitter analytes (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-hydroxyindole-3-acetic acid, tryptamine and melatonin) in sea lamprey plasma samples.  相似文献

A simple and highly selective flow injection (FI) on-line preconcentration and separation flame atomic absorption spectrometric (FAAS) method was developed for the determinations of trace amounts of silver, gold and palladium. The selective preconcentration of the noble metals was achieved in a wide range of sample acidity (0.1-6 M HNO3 or HCl) on a microcolumn packed with amidinothioureido-silica gel (ATuSG). The analytes retained on the column were effectively eluted with 5.0% thiourea solution. The analytical procedure was optimized for sample acidity, elution, interferences, flow rate of sampling and eluting, and concentration of sample. Common co-existing cations and anions did not interfere with the preconcentration and determination of the three metals. At a sample loading flow rate of 4.5 ml min−1 with 60 s preconcentration, detection limits (3σ) of 1.1 ng ml−1 Ag, 13 ng ml−1 Au and 17 ng ml−1 Pd were obtained. The precisions (R.S.D., n=11) were 1.2% for Ag, 1.2% for Au and 1.7% for Pd, respectively. The detection limits can be further improved by increasing sample volume. The analytical results obtained by the proposed method for a number of standard reference materials were in good agreement with the certified values.  相似文献

A method for on-line preconcentration of palladium at ultra-trace level on alumina microcolumns and determination by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) has been developed. A sampling time of 10 min (30 ml) and an eluent (KCN) volume of 300 μl provides a limit of detection of 1 ng l−1. The precision was 4% at the 25 ng l−1 level. The proposed system allows the on-line removal of the primary interferents (Cu and Y) providing the credible accuracy of the results. The proposed method is suitable for palladium determination in urban water samples. Platinum concentration in the analysed urban water samples was also determined.  相似文献

A further study on a newly developed flow injection (FI) on-line multiplexed sorption preconcentration (MSP) using a knotted reactor coupled with flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was carried out to demonstrate its applicability and limitation for trace element determination. For this purpose, Cr(VI), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) were selected as the analytes, and detailed comparison was made between the MSP-FAAS and conventional FI on-line sorption preconcentration FAAS in respect to retention efficiency and linear ranges of absorbance versus sample loading flow rate and total preconcentration time. Introduction of an air-flow for removal of the residual solution in the KR after each sub-injection in the MSP procedure played a decisive role in the improvement of retention efficiency. The linearity of absorbance versus sample loading flow rate or total preconcentration time was extended to a more degree for the metal ions with less stability of their PDC (pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate) complexes than those with more stable PDC complexes. It seems that the MSP procedure behaves advantages beyond the inflection points in the diagrams of absorbance versus total preconcentration time and sample loading flow rate obtained by conventional (a single continuous) preconcentration procedure. With a sample loading flow rate of 6.0 ml min−1 and a total preconcentration time of 180 s, the retention efficiencies were increased from 25, 46, 41 and 63% with a single continuous sorption preconcentration to 44, 78, 65 and 75% with a six sub-injection preconcentration procedure for Cr(VI), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II), respectively. The detection limits were 0.40, 0.33, 0.31 and 0.26 μg l−1 for Cr(VI), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II), respectively. The precision (R.S.D.) for eleven replicate determination of 2 μg l−1 Cr(VI), Co(II) and Ni(II), and 1 μg l−1 Cu(II), was 2.1, 4.1, 2.6 and 1.7%, respectively.  相似文献

In the present study, a novel analytical approach for the simultaneous determination of 27 brominated flame retardants (BFRs), namely polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), isomers of hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD), tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) and several novel BFRs (NBFRs), together with 18 perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in indoor dust was developed and validated. To achieve integrated isolation of analytes from the sample and their fractionation, a miniaturized method based on matrix solid phase dispersion (MSPD) was employed. Principally, after mixing the dust (<0.1 g) with the Florisil®, the mixture was applied on the top of a sorbent (Florisil®) placed in glass column and then analytes were eluted using solvents with different polarities. For the identification/quantification of target compounds largely differing in polarity, complementary techniques represented by gas and liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (GC–MS/MS and LC–MS/MS) were used. The results of validation experiments, which were performed on the SRM 2585 material (for PBDEs, HBCDs and TBBPA), were in accordance with the certified/reference values. For other analytes (NBFRs and PFASs), the analysis of an artificially contaminated blank dust sample was realized. The method recoveries for all target compounds ranged from 81 to 122% with relative standard deviations lower than 21%. The quantification limits were in the range of 1–25 ng g−1 for BFRs and 0.25–1 ng g−1 for PFASs. Finally, 18 samples (6 households × 3 sampling sites) were analyzed. The high variability between concentrations of PFASs and BFRs in the dust samples from various households as well as collecting sites in a respective house was observed. The total amounts of PFASs and BFRs were in the range of 1.58–236 ng g−1 (median 10.6 ng g−1) and 39.2–2320 ng g−1 (median 325 ng g−1), respectively. It was clearly shown that dust from the indoor environment might be a significant source of human exposure to various organohalogen pollutants.  相似文献

The paper presents a new HPLC method, with UV and MSn detection, for the determination of seven pesticides, including the sulfonylurea herbicides amidosulfuron, azimsulfuron, nicosulfuron, rimsulfuron, thifensulfuron methyl, tribenuron methyl, and the fungicide azoxystrobin characterised by a methoxyacrilate structure. The methodology consists of a preconcentration/SPE (solid phase extraction) step and HPLC-UV (240 nm detection wavelength)-MSn analysis. Under the optimised conditions and after a 1000/1 preconcentration factor, the limits of detection were lower than 14.5 ng L−1 for UV detection and lower than 8.1 ng L−1 for MS detection. The limits of quantification were lower than 48.3 ng L−1 in UV detection and than 26.9 ng L−1 in MSn detection. The analysis of two samples, spiked with a mixture of the pesticides at threshold level concentrations, gave more than 60% recovery.  相似文献

A procedure based on solid phase extraction (SPE) has been developed for the simultaneous pre-concentration of herbicide mefenacet (MN) and its three photolysis degradation products. Three metabolites studied were hydroxylbenzothiazole (HBT), N-methylaniline (N-MA) and 2-benzothiazoloxyacetic acid (2-BAA). A trimethylsilylation derivatization method was applied for the analysis of HBT and 2-BAA which were derivatized to be corresponding derivatives D-1 and D-2, respectively, and a rapid resolution liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (RRLC-ESI-MS) system was used for the separation, identification and quantification of these four analytes. In the SPE pre-concentration step, three types of cartridges and four kinds of eluents were investigated. The mean recoveries of these four analytes were between 78.6% and 101.2% and relative standard deviations were between 3.2% and 9.2%. The limits of detection (LODs) obtained were 0.02 ng l−1 for MN and N-MA and 0.1 ng l−1 for HBT and 2-BAA which were less than the maximum residue limits (MRLs) in drinking water established by European legislation (0.1 μg l−1). The proposed method was applied to evaluate the presence and evolution with time of herbicide mefenacet and its degradation products in samples of Songhuajiang River of Heilongjiang province, China. The analyses, conducted from April to July of 2008, pointed to the presence of MN, 2-BAA, HBT and N-MA at maximum levels 1.0, 0.08, 0.1 and 0.3 μg l−1.  相似文献

A method of electrothermal vaporization inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ETV-ICP-MS) for the determination of trace lanthanides and yttrium in soil samples with a polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) emulsion as chemical modifier to promote the vaporization of the analytes from the graphite furnace was developed in this paper. The analytical characteristics, spectral interference and matrix effect of the analytical method were evaluated and critically compared with those of pneumatic nebulization inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (PN-ICP-MS). Under the optimized operation conditions, the relative detection limits of lanthanides (La-Lu) and yttrium for ETV-ICP-MS and PN-ICP-MS were 0.4-20 ng l−1 and 1.0-21 ng l−1, respectively, the absolute detection limits for ETV-ICP-MS were 4-200 fg, which were improved by 1-2 orders of magnitude compared with PN-ICP-MS. While the analytical precision of ETV-ICP-MS is worse than that of PN-ICP-MS, with the R.S.D.s (%) of 4.1-10% for the former and 2.9-7.8% for the latter. Regarding to the matrix effect, both conventional method and stepwise dilution method were employed to observe the effect of matrix and the very similar results were obtained. It was found that the highest tolerance concentration of the matrix is 1000 mg l−1 and 800 mg l−1 for ETV-ICP-MS and PN-ICP-MS, respectively. To assess the accuracy, the proposed method was applied to the determination of trace lanthanides and yttrium in three different soil standard reference materials and one soil sample, and the determined values are in good agreement with the certified values or reference values.  相似文献

A sensitive and selective column adsorption method is proposed for the preconcentration and determination of atrazine and simazine. Atrazine and simazine were preconcentrated on heat-treated diatomaceous earth as an adsorbent and then determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Several parameters on the recoveries of the analytes were investigated. The experimental results showed that it was possible to obtain quantitative analysis when the solution pH was 2 using 100 mL of validation solution containing 1.5 μg of triazines and 5 mL of ethanol as an eluent. Recoveries of atrazine and simazine were 95.7 ± 4.2% and 75.0 ± 1.9% with a relative standard deviation for seven determinations of 4.7% and 2.7% under optimum conditions. The maximum preconcentration factor was 100 for triazines when 500 mL of sample solution volume was used. The linear ranges of calibration curves for atrazine and simazine were 1-150 ng mL−1 and 1-300 ng mL−1, respectively, with correlation coefficients of 0.999 and the detection limits (3Signal-to-Noise) were 0.24 ng mL−1 and 0.21 ng mL−1 for atrazine and simazine. The capacity of the adsorbent was also examined and found to be 0.8 mg g−1 and 1.3 mg g−1 for atrazine and simazine, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of triazines in river water and tap water samples with high precision and accuracy.  相似文献

A new chelating resin based on chitosan biopolymer modified with 5-sulphonic acid 8-hydroxyquinoline using the spray drying technique for immobilization is proposed. The chelating resin was characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) and surface area by nitrogen sorption. The efficiency of the chelating resin was evaluated by the preconcentration of metal ions Cu(II) and Cd(II) present in aqueous samples in trace amounts. The metal ions were previously enriched in a minicolumn and the concentrations of the analytes were determined on-line by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The maximum retention for Cu(II) occurred in the pH range 8-10, and for Cd(II) at pH 7. The optimum flow rate for sorption was found to be 7.2 ml min−1 for the preconcentration of the metal ions. The analytes gave relative standard deviations (R.S.D.) of 0.7 and 0.6% for solutions containing 20 μg l−1 of Cu(II) and 15 μg l−1 of Cd (II), respectively (n=7). The enrichment factors for Cu(II) and Cd (II) were 19.1 and 13.9, respectively, and the limits of detection (LOD) were 0.2 μg l−1 for Cd(II) and 0.3 μg l−1 for Cu(II), using a preconcentration time of 90 s (n=11). The accuracy of the proposed method was evaluated by the metal ion recovery technique, in the analysis of potable water and water from a lake, with recoveries being between 97.2 and 107.3%.  相似文献

Inductively coupled plasma quadrupole mass spectrometry (ICP-QMS), ICP sector field mass spectrometry (ICP-SFMS) and ICP atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) were compared with regard to the direct determination of rare earth elements (REEs) in geological samples. In order to reduce the polyatomic interferences occurring in ICP-QMS, the use of a cooled spray chamber was optimized, obtaining a significant decrease of the oxide ions formation (about 50%) and a consequent mitigation of the interfering effects. Precision and accuracy of the method were demonstrated by the analyses of sediment and soil certified reference materials. ICP-SFMS working in high-resolution mode also provided accurate results, with similar precision to ICP-QMS (RSD%: 3-8%) and comparable or better limits of detection. Quantification limits of the procedures were 18-52 ng g−1 and 10-780 ng g−1 for sector field- and quadrupole-ICP-MS, respectively. Accurate and precise determination of most REEs was also achieved by ICP-AES using both pneumatic and ultrasonic nebulization, after a careful selection of the emission lines and compensation for non-spectral interferences by internal standardization. The three techniques were finally applied to glaciomarine sediment samples collected in Antarctica, providing comparable analytical data on REE abundance and depth pattern.  相似文献

An integrated approach for the accurate determination of total, labile and organically bound dissolved trace metal concentration in the field is presented. Two independent automated platforms consisting of an ultraviolet (UV) on-line unit and a chelation/preconcentration/matrix elimination module were specifically developed to process samples on-site to avoid sample storage prior to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) analysis. The speciation scheme allowed simultaneous discrimination between labile and organic stable dissolved species of seven trace elements including Cd, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, U and Zn, using only 5 ml of sample with detection limits ranging between 0.6 ng l−1 for Cd and 33 ng l−1 for Ni. The influence of UV photolysis on organic matter and its associated metal complexes was investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy and validated against natural samples spiked with humic substances standards. The chelation/preconcentration/matrix elimination procedure was validated against an artificial seawater spiked sample and two certified reference materials (SLRS-4 and CASS-4) to ensure homogenous performance across freshwater, estuarine and seawater samples. The speciation scheme was applied to two natural freshwater and seawater samples collected in the Adour Estuary (Southwestern, France) and processed in the field. The results indicated that the organic complexation levels were high and unchanged for Cu in both samples, whereas different signatures were observed for Cd, Mn, Ni, Pb, U and Zn, suggesting organic ligands of different origin and/or their transformation/alteration along estuarine water mixing.  相似文献
