The KTeV experiment at Fermilab has isolated a total of 132 events from the rare decay K(L)-->e+ e- mu+ mu-, with an estimated background of 0.8 events. The branching ratio of this mode is determined to be [2.69+/-0.24(stat)+/-0.12(syst)]x10(-9), with a radiative cutoff of M(2)(ee mu mu)/M(2)(K)>0.95. The first measurement using this mode of the parameter alpha from the D'Ambrosio-Isidori-Portolès (DIP) model of the K(L)gamma*gamma* vertex yields a result of -1.59+/-0.37, consistent with values obtained from other decay modes. Because of the limited statistics, no sensitivity is found to the DIP parameter beta. We use this decay mode to set limits on CP and lepton violation.  相似文献

We report the results of a search for pair production of doubly charged Higgs bosons via pp over-->H++H - - X-->mu+ mu+ mu- mu- X at sqrt s=1.96 TeV. We use a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.1 fb(-1) collected from 2002 to 2006 by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. In the absence of an excess above the standard model background, lower mass limits of M(H L +/- +/-) >150 GeV/c2 and M(H R+/- +/-) >127 GeV/c2 at 95% C.L. are set, respectively, for left-handed and right-handed doubly charged Higgs bosons assuming a 100% branching ratio into muons.  相似文献

Results on the lowest-order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly are presented. They are based on the latest published experimental data used as input to the dispersion integral. Thus recent results on τ→υτππ^0 decays from Belle and on e^+e^- annihilation to π^+π^- from BABAR and KLOE are included. The new data, together with improved isospin-breaking corrections for τ decays, result into a much better consistency among the different results. A discrepancy between the Standard Model prediction and the direct g- 2 measurement is found at the level of 3σ.  相似文献

The xi0 muon semileptonic decay has been observed for the first time with nine identified events using the KTeV beam line and detector at Fermilab. The decay is normalized to the xi0 beta decay mode and yields a value for the ratio of decay rates gamma(xi0 --> sigma+ mu- nu(mu))/gamma(xi0 --> sigma+ e- nu(e)) of [1.8(-0.5)(+0.7)(stat) +/- 0.2(syst)] x 10(-2). This is in agreement with the SU(3) flavor symmetric quark model.  相似文献

A search for T-violating transverse muon polarization (P(T)) in the K+-->pi(0)mu(+)nu decay was performed using kaon decays at rest. A new improved value P(T)=-0.0017+/-0.0023(stat)+/-0.0011(syst) was obtained giving an upper limit |P(T)|<0.0050. The T-violation parameter was determined to be Imxi=-0.0053+/-0.0071(stat)+/-0.0036(syst) giving an upper limit |Imxi|<0.016.  相似文献

We report on a search for B0(s) --> mu+ mu- and B0(d) --> mu + mu- decays in pp collisions at square root(s) = 1.96 TeV using 364 pb(-1) of data collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. After applying all selection requirements, we observe no candidates inside the B0(s) or B0(d) mass windows. The resulting upper limits on the branching fractions are B(B0(s) --> mu+ mu-) < 1.5 x 10(-7) and B(B0(d) --> mu+ mu-) < 3.9 x 10(-8) at 90% confidence level.  相似文献

Flavor-specific scalar bosons exist in various Standard Model extensions and couple to a single generation of fermions via a global flavor symmetry breaking mechanism. Given this strategy, we propose a Me V flavor-specific scalar model in dimension-5 operator series, which explains the muon g-2 anomaly and proton radius puzzle by coupling with the muon and down-quark at the same time. The framework is consistent with the null result of high-intensity searches. Specifically, the supernova constraints for muon couplings become weakened by including the contribution of down-quark interaction. The parameter space for explaining muon g-2 discrepancy is available when 10% energy deposition is required in the energy explosion process in the supernova,but this is ruled out by the 1% energy deposition requirement. We also investigate the searches for mediator and dark matter and the resulting constraints on viable parameter space such as nuclear physics constraints, direct detection for light boosted dark matter, and possible CMB constraints. When compared with conventional dark matter production, light dark matter production has two additional modifications: bound state formation and early kinetic equilibrium decoupling. We are now looking into the implications of these effects on the relic density of light dark matter.  相似文献

We apply the Bogoliubov compensation principle to the gauge electro-weak interaction to demonstrate the spontaneous generation of an anomalous three-boson gauge invariant effective interaction. The non-trivial solution of the compensation equations uniquely defines the values of the parameters of the theory and the form factor of the anomalous interaction. The contribution of this interaction to the running EW coupling, α ew(p 2), gives its observable value α ew(M W 2)=0.0374, in satisfactory agreement to the experiment. The anomalous three-boson interaction gives a natural explanation of the well-known discrepancy in the muon g−2. The implications for EW studies at Tevatron and LHC are briefly discussed.  相似文献

We extract a relatively precise value for the decay constant of the meson by measuring B(D+ --> mu+nu) = (4.40 +/-0.66(+0.09)(-0.12) x 10(-4) using 281 pb(-1) of data taken on phi(3770) the resonance with the CLEO-c detector. We find fD+ = (222.6 +/- 16.7(+2.8)(-3.4)) MeV, and compare with current theoretical calculations. We also set a 90% confidence upper limit on B(D+e+nu)< 2.4 x 10(-5) which constrains new physics models.  相似文献

Evidence for the emission of slow muonium atoms from a 3.0-nm-thick SiO2 layer covered on an n-type Si is reported. Also, upon applying an rf-resonance technique at the muon frequency, a time-differential observation of a delayed state-change from muonium to diamagnetic muon at room temperature was observed. Combining results obtained by use of longitudinal field decoupling and transverse spin rotation methods, the conversion rate was estimated to be 5 to 10 μs−1. Both of the above results, namely the observation of the emission and state-change of muonium, suggest a process in which μ+ initially captures an electron from Si, then quickly converts to μ+ again during thermal diffusion in the Si towards the SiO2 layer. Within the oxide layer, muonium is again formed and subsequently is emitted from the SiO2 surface.  相似文献

A search for the nonconservation of lepton flavor number in the decay tau(+/-) --> mu(+/-) has been performed using 2.07 x 10(8) e(+ )e(-) tau(+) tau(-) events produced at a center-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage ring. We find no evidence for a signal and set an upper limit on the branching ratio of Beta(tau(+/-) --> mu(+/-) gamma) < 6.8 x 10(-8) at 90% confidence level.  相似文献

We compare the temperature dependence of the zero-field muon spin precession frequency observed in Sr2CuO2Cl2 and La2CuO4 below the Néel temperature with a 2-d Heisenberg model with an additional small anisotropy. Good agreement of the observed results with this model reflects the highly 2 dimensional magnetic properties of these cuprates. The measured local fields are compared with a simple calculation of dipolar fields in the crystal to search for muon site locations. Our results provide evidence that the muon sites are related to the oxygen atoms in these compounds.  相似文献
