The electron impact induced fragmentation of 1,3-diphenyl-2-pyrazoline

The electron impact induced fragmentation of 1,3-diphenyl-2-pyrazoline was studied by nitrogen-15, carbon-13 and deuterium labelling, substitution in the para position of one of the phenyl rings by fluoro and methoxy groups, and ion kinetic energy spectroscopy, as well as accurate mass measurements. In the fragmentation pathway observed all the ions in the mass spectrum of 1,3-diphenyl-2-pyrazoline (except m/e 103) originate from the molecular ion, which in all compounds is the base peak. The formation of prominent fragment ions is discussed.     

The transformations of fluoroalkyl-containing 2-arylhydrazono-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with methylamine

Fluoroalkylated 1,2,3-triketone 2-arylhydrazones and 2-arylhydrazono-3-oxo esters react variously with methylamine depending on the structure of the fluorinated substituent. 2-Arylhydrazono-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds having “short” fluoroalkyl substituents condense with methylamine at the carbonyl group attached to the non-fluorinated substituent whereas ones containing a lengthy polyfluoroalkyl substituent undergo haloformic cleavage as a result of the amine addition at the carbonyl group bearing such a substituent. The resulting 2-arylazo-3-(N-methyl)amino-1-polyfluoroket-2-en-1-ones and 1-(N-methyl)amino-2-arylhydrazono-3-fluoroalkyl-3-oxopropanamides have complexing properties, and they can bind to nickel(II) and copper(II) ions. Nickel chelates can be obtained by a three-component condensation of 2-arylhydrazono-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and methylamine in the presence of nickel(II) cations.     

The interaction of fluorinated 2-arylhydrazono-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with o-phenylenediamine

2-Arylhydrazono-3-fluoroaklyl-3-oxo esters react with o-phenylenediamine under neutral conditions to form mainly o-aminoanilides, from which can be obtained 1,5-benzodiazepin-2-ones. Ethyl-2-(benzimidazol-2-yl)-2-(4-methylphenyl)hydrazonoethanoate was isolated also from the reaction of di(tri)fluoromethyl-containing 2-arylhydrazono-3-oxo esters. The reactions of o-phenylenediamine with 1,2,3-triketone 2-arylhydrazones containing alkyl substituents result in the formation of 1-(benzimidazol-2-yl)-1,2-dioxoalkane arylhydrazones, whereas phenylsubstituted analogues afford 2-phenylbenzimidazole. Nickel(II) chelates of N,N′-phenylene-bis(2-arylazo-1,3-aminovinylketones) were obtained from 1,2,3-triketone 2-arylhydrazones and o-phenylenediamine using a template method.     

Fragmentation of substituted 2-sila-1,3-dioxacycloalkanes under electron impact

The mass spectrometric dissociation of 2-sila-1,3-dioxacycloalkanes takes place mainly with loss of the substituent from position 2 of the heterocycle. Reaction of 1,3-diphenylbarbituric and 1,3 -diphenyl-2-thiobarbituric acids with diazotized sulfanilamides

Fluoroalkyl-containing 2-arylhydrazono-1,3-dicarbonyl compounds in the reactions with ethylenediamine and polyethylenepolyamines

Acyclic N,N′-(poly)ethylene-bis(2-arylazo-1,3-aminovinylketones) are the main products in the reactions of fluoroalkyl-containing 2-arylhydrazono-1,3-diketones with ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine and triethylenetetramine. Nickel(II) and copper(II) chelates were obtained from N,N′-ethylene-bis(2-arylazo-1,3-aminovinylketones). 2-Arylhydrazono-3-fluoroacyl esters formed N,N′-ethylenediamides of 2-arylhydrazono-3-fluoroacylpropionic acids with ethylenediamine. Interaction of 2-arylhydrazono-3-fluoroacyl esters with diethylenetriamine and triethylenetetramine resulted in and decomposition products.     

A novel synthesis of 2-arylhydrazono-6-amino-4-arylbenzene-1,3-dicarbonitriles and their conversion into phthalazines

Compounds 1a-d react with benzylidenemalononitrile 2 to yield dihydroaminopyridazines 3a-d and, in contrast, compounds 1e,f react with 2 under the same conditions to yield aminobenzenedicarbonitriles 8e,f compound 8e underwent intramolecular cyclization to phthalazine 9e. Compound 10e reacted with 2a to yield 11e.     

1,3-Dimethoxy-1,3-dimethyl-1,3-diphenyl- and 1,3-dimethoxy-1,3-tetraphenyldisiloxanes: synthesis and structure

The retro 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition induced by electron impact on 3,5-diphenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole is interpreted as a two-step process on the basis of the energetics and kinetics of the fragments [C₇H₅NO]⁺., [C₆H₅CN]⁺. and [C₆H₅CO]⁺.     

Electron-transfer photochemistry of 2,3-diphenyl-1,3-butadiene

Photoinduced electron-transfer (ET) reaction of 2,3-diphenyl-1,3-butadiene 1 resulted in the formation of [4+2] dimer 8, [4+4] dimer 4, and its secondary product bicyclooctadiene 9. The ET induced dimerization of 1 is suggested to proceed through a stepwise mechanism involving a bis-allylic intermediate 10.
