The interaction of adenosine 5-monophosphate (AMP), adenosine 5-diphosphate (ADP), and adenosine 5-triphosphate (ATP) ions with protons in aqueous solution has been studied calorimetrically from 50 to 125°C and 1.52 MPa. At each temperature, the reaction of acidic AMP with tetramethylammonium hydroxide was combined with the heat of ionization for water to obtain the enthalpy of protonation of AMP, while the reactions of HCl with deprotonated tetramethylammonium salts of ADP and ATP were used to obtain the enthalpies of protonation of ADP and ATP. Equilibrium constant K, enthalpy change Ho, entropy change So, and heat capacity change C p o values were calculated for the stepwise protonation reactions as a function of temperature. The reactions involving the first protonation of AMP, ADP, and ATP and the third protonation of ADP and ATP were endothermic over the temperature range studied, while that involving the second protonation is exothermic for AMP and ADP, but is exothermic below 100°C and endothermic at 125°C in the case of ATP. Consequently, log K values for the first and third protonation reactions (phosphate groups) increase while those for the second protonation reaction (N1-adenine) decrease in the cases of AMP and ADP and go through a minimum in the case of ATP as temperature increases. The Ho values for all protonation reactions increase with temperature. The magnitude and the trend for the Ho, So, and C p o values with temperature are discussed in terms of solvent-solute interactions. The magnitude of the C p o values for the second protonation is consistent with little interaction between the phosphate ion and the protonated N1 site of the adenine moiety in AMP, but indicates moderate interaction between these groups in ADP, and strong interaction in ATP.  相似文献

Specific heat capacities, apparent molar heat capacities, densities, and apparent molar volumes have been determined for cytosine, uracil, thymine, adenine, cytidine, 2-deoxycytidine, uridine, thymidine and adenosine at temperatures from 25°C to 55°C. The results of these measurements have been used to calculate for the first time, the thermodynamic quantities:C p,2 o , (C p,2 o /T)p, (2 C p,2 o T 2)p,V 2 o , (V 2 o /T)p, and (2 V 2 o /T 2)p. The-CH2-group contribution has been calculated at different temperatures. It has also been observed from the data for the nucleic acid bases and nucleosides that the additivity ruleC p,2 o (nucleoside)-C p,2 o (base) +C p,2 o (water)=C p,2 o (ribose) does not hold in these cases.  相似文献

Viscosities of five n-alcohols from 1-hexanol to 1-tetradecanol were determined from 15 to 80°C at 5°C intervals. Plot of the logarithm of viscosity vs. reciprocal absolute temperature were almost linear. The energies of activation for viscous flow were determined for each of the alcohols and found to increase with increase in chain length. The intrinsic molar volumes Vo were determined by extrapolation to zero fluidities. The fluidities of the alcohols were found to obey the equation

The viscosities of n-alkyl chlorides from pentyl to hexadecyl chloride were determined at temperatures between 15 to 80°C at 5°C intervals. The intrinsic volumes of the n-alkyl chlorides were determined by extrapolation of the plot of fluidity against molar volume to zero fluidity. Plots of the logarithm of viscosity vs. reciprocal absolute temperature were almost linear. The energies of activation for viscous flow for the n-alkyl chlorides were calculated and found to increase with increase in chain length. The fluidities, , of the n-alkyl chlorides were found to obey the modified form of Hildebrand's equation. = D[(V-Vo/Vo]\exp(-EB/RT) where D is a constant, V and V o are the molar volume and the intrinsic molar volume, respectively, and E B is an energy term corresponding to the energy required for disrupting the association of the molecules. The activation energy for viscous flow consists of the sum of the energy required for the expansion of the void volume and the energy required to overcome intermolecular interactions. These energies were calculated and discussed.  相似文献

The aqueous reaction, HNO3(aq)=H++NO 3 was studied as a function of ionic strength I at 250, 275, 300 and 319°C using a flow calorimeter and the equilibrium constant K and enthalpy change (H) at I=0 were determined. Using these experimental values, equations describing logK, H, the entropy change S and the heat capacity change C p of reaction at I=0 and temperatures from 250 to 319°C were derived. The increasing importance of ion association as temperature rises was discussed. The use of an equation containing identical numbers of positive and identical numbers of negative charges on both sides of the equal sign (isocoulombic reaction principle) was applied to the logK values reported here and to those determined by others. The resulting plot of logK for the isocoulombic reaction vs. 1/T was fairly linear which supports the postulate that the principle is a useful technique for the extrapolation of logK values from low to high temperatures.Presented at the Second International Symposium on Chemistry in High Temperature Water, Provo, UT, August 1991.  相似文献

The enthalpy changes at zero ionic strength (H°) for the ionization of water (H2O=H++OH) were determined by flow calorimetry from the heats of mixing of aqueous NaOH and HCl solutions in the temperature range 250 to 350°C. Pitzer ion-interaction models developed by other workers were used to calculate enthalpies of dilution of aqueous NaOH, HCl, and NaCl solutions for the extrapolation of H values from the conditions of the experiment to infinite dilution. Equations are derived for thermodynamic quantities (log K, H°, S°, C p ° and V°) for the ionization of water using the H° values determined in this study from 250 to 350°C and literature log K and H° values from 0 to 225°C. Smoothed values of log K, H°, S°, C p ° , and V° are presented at rounded temperatures from 0 to 350°C and at the saturation pressure of water for each temperature. The equations in the present study provide a better representation of experimental thermodynamic data from 0 to 350°C than the Marshall-Franck equation.  相似文献

N-tris[Hydroxymethyl]-4-aminobutanesulfonic acid (TABS) has been investigated for the determination of the values of the second dissociation constant, pK 2, in water at 12 temperatures in the range 5–55°C, including 37°C. This zwitterionic compound is useful as a secondary pH standard in the range of pH (7–9) for physiological applications. The electromotive force (emf) measurements have been carried out using a hydrogen gas electrode and a silver–silver chloride electrode. The values of pK 2 are fitted as a function of temperature with the following results: pK 2 = 1671.305/T+14.8737–2.04383 ln T, where T is the thermodynamic temperature in Kelvins. The experimental values of pK 2 are 8.834 ± 0.0005 and 8.539 ± 0.0004 at 25 and 37°C, respectively. The related thermodynamic quantities, G°, H°, S°, and C p ° characterizing the dissociation process have been derived from the pK 2 and its temperature coefficients.  相似文献

The first and second molal dissociation quotients of oxalic acid were measured potentiometrically in a concentration cell fitted with hydrogen electrodes. The emf of oxalic acid-bioxalate solutions was measured relative to an HCl standard solution from 25 to 125°C over 25o intervals at nine ionic strengths ranging from 0.1 to 5.0 molal (NaCl). The molal dissociation quotients and available literature data were treated in the all anionic form by a five-term equation that yielded the following thermodynamic quantities at infinite dilution and 25°C: logK1a=–1.277±0.010, H 1a o =–4.1±1.1 kJ-mol–1, S 1a o =38±4 J-K–1-mol–1, and C p,1a o =–168±41 J-K–1-mol–1. Similar measurements of the bioxalate-oxalate system were made at 25o intervals from 0 to 175°C at seven ionic strengths from 0.1 to 5.0m. A similar regression of the experimentally-derived and published equilibrium quotients using a seven-term equation yielded the following values at infinite dilution and 25°C: logK2a=–4.275±0.006, H 2a o =–6.8±0.5 kJ-mol–1, S 2a o =–105±2 J-K–1-mol–1, and C p,2a o =–261±12 J-K–1-mol–1.  相似文献

The dissociation quotients of formic acid were measured potentiometrically from 25 to 200°C in NaCl solutions at ionic strengths of 0.1, 0.3 1.0, 3.0, and 5.0 mol-kg–1. The experiments were carried out in a concentration cell with hydrogen electrodes. The resulting molal acid dissociation quotients for formic acid, as well as a set of infinite dilution literature values and a calorimetrically-determined enthalpy of reaction, were fitted by an empirical equation involving an extended Debye Hückel term and seven adjustable parameters involving functions of temperature and ionic strength. This regressional analysis yielded the following thermodynamic quantities for 25°C: logK=–3.755±0.002, Ho=–0.09±0.15 kJ-mol–1, So=–72.2±0.5 J-K–1-mol–1, and C p o =–147±4 J-K–1-mol–1. The isocoulombic form of the equilibrium constant is recommended for extrapolation to higher temperatures.  相似文献

Precise density and viscosity data at 15, 25 and 35°C for solutions of glycine, DL-alanine, L-threonine, -alanine, -aminobutyric acid and -aminocaproic acid in water and in (1m, 3m, 5m) aqueous potassium thiocyanate were measured and the limiting apparent molar volumes V o and the B-coefficients calculated. The V o and B values were split into the contributions from the NH 3 + ,COO and CH2 groups. These data are rationalized on the basis of hydrophillic and hydrophobic interactions between the various groups present in these solutions.Abstracted from the Ph.D Thesis of R. K. The first and second molal dissociation quotients of malonic acid were measured potentiometrically in a concentration cell fitted with hydrogen electrodes. The hydrogen ion molality of malonic acid/bimalonate solutions was measured relative to a standard aqueous HCl solution from 0 to 100°C over 25° intervals at five ionic strengths ranging from 0.1 to 5.0 molal (NaCl). The molal dissociation quotients and available literature data were treated in the all anionic form by a seven-term equation. This treatment yielded the following thermodynamic quantities for the first acid dissociation equilibrium at 25°C: logK 1a =-2.852±0.003, H 1a /o =0.1±0.3 kJ-mol–1, S 1a o =–54.4±1.0 J-mol–1-K–1, and C p,1a o =–185±20 J-mol–1-K–1. Measurements of the bimalonate/malonate system were made over the same intervals of temperature and ionic strength. A similar regression of the present and previously published equilibrium quotients using a seven-term equation yielded the following values for the second acid dissociation equilibrium at 25°C: logK2a=–5.697±0.001, H 2a o =–5.13±0.11 kJ-mol–1, S 2a o =–126.3±0.4 J-mol–1-K–1, and C p,2a o =–250+10 J-mol–1-K–1.Presented at the Second International Symposium on Chemistry in High Temperature Water, Provo, UT, August 1991.  相似文献

The dissociation quotient of benzoic acid was determined potentiometrically in a concentration cell fitted with hydrogen electrodes. The hydrogen ion molality of benzoic acid/benzoate solutions was measured relative to a standard aqueous HCl solution at seven temperatures from 5 to 250°C and at seven ionic strengths ranging from 0.1 to 5.0 molal (NaCl). The molal dissociation quotients and selected literature data were fitted in the isocoulombic (all anionic) form by a six-term equation. This treatment yielded the following thermodynamic quantities for the acid dissociation equilibrium at 25°C and 1 bar: logKa=–4.206±0.006, H a o =0.3±0.3 kJ-mol–1, S a o =–79.6±1.0 J-mol–1-K–1, and C p;a o =–207±5 J-mol–1-K–1. A five-term equation derived to describe the dependence of the dissociation constant on solvent density is accurate to 250°C and 200 MPa.  相似文献

The excess volume V E of binary mixtures of octanol, nonanol and dodecanol in ethylbenzene have been calculated from the densities measured with a vibrating tube densimeter at temperatures from 50 to 100 °C and at pressures from 0.1 to 7.5 MPa. The values of V E are positive for all the three mixtures in the complete temperature, pressure and mole fraction ranges studied. The maxima in V E is observed at 0.4 mole fraction of alkanol. The results are discussed in terms of specific interactions present in the binary mixtures. The second order thermodynamic quantities (V E /T)p,(V E /P)T and (V E /P)T which have been derived from the effect of temperature and pressure on V E , indicate an overall net creation of order in the binary mixtures of ethylbenzene with higher homologues of alkanols.  相似文献

Three kinds of poly amino acids, poly-γ-glutamic acid, poly(ε-L-lysine) and multi-L-arginyl-poly (L-aspartic acid) can be synthesized by enzymatic process independently from ribosomal protein biosynthesis pathways in microorganism. These biosynthesized polymers have attracted more and more attentions because of their unique properties and various applications. In this review, the current knowledge on the biosynthesis, biodegradations and applications of these three poly amino acids are summarized.  相似文献
