We report output power and frequency measurements of a pulsed free electron laser (FEL) operating as an amplifier at 35 GHz, without guiding field. The experiment used an induction linac, which delivers an 800-A relativistic electron beam (2.2 MeV) with a flat-top of 40 ns into the helical wiggler. The input signal furnished by a 35-GHz magnetron source is amplified to power levels of the order of 80 MW. The experimental results are in good agreement with our simulations. Frequency chirping is observed, and its behavior as a function of the basic FEL parameters is discussed  相似文献

A side band power re-injection locked(SBPRIL) magnetron is presented in this paper. A tuning stub is placed between the external injection locked(EIL) magnetron and the circulator. Side band power of the EIL magnetron is reflected back to the magnetron. The reflected side band power is reused and pulled back to the central frequency. A phase-locking model is developed from circuit theory to explain the process of reuse of side band power in SBPRIL magnetron. Theoretical analysis proves that the side band power is pulled back to the central frequency of the SBPRIL magnetron, then the amplitude of the RF voltage increases and the phase noise performance is improved. Particle-in-cell(PIC) simulation of a 10-vane continuous wave(CW) magnetron model is presented. Computer simulation predicts that the frequency spectrum's peak of the SBPRIL magnetron has an increase of 3.25 d B compared with the free running magnetron. The phase noise performance at the side band offset reduces 12.05 d B for the SBPRIL magnetron. Besides, the SBPRIL magnetron experiment is presented. Experimental results show that the spectrum peak rises by 14.29% for SBPRIL magnetron compared with the free running magnetron. The phase noise reduces more than 25 d B at 45-k Hz offset compared with the free running magnetron.  相似文献

We infer from a model calculation that, to a very good approximation, the XPS spectra from core electrons in simple metals should follow the edge power law up to the first plasmon satellite. The diocotron instability influence on the value of average electron density in a discharge with crossed electric and magnetic fields has been studied in magnetron and inverted magnetron geometries. The obtained results is in agreement with experimental data. It is found that in magnetron with a thin cathode the mode l=1 is unstable in a narrow interval of electron densities. The width of this interval vanishes when the cathode radius tends to zero.  相似文献

We present experimental evidence of the optical spring effect in a silica microtoroid resonator. The variation of the measured mechanical resonant frequency as a function of optical power, optical coupling, and optical detuning is in very good agreement with a model for radiation-pressure-induced rigidity in a silica microtoroid.  相似文献

A novel distributed window for output radiation from a high power 110 GHz gyrotron is made of thin slats of sapphire interleaved and brazed to hollow metal vanes. We report the results of electromagnetic theory and cold test of this distributed window. We calculate the frequency dependence of the reflectivity of a Gaussian beam from the window. The theory indicates a significant frequency shift of the minimum reflectivity with temperature rise of the sapphire slab. This effect is of great importance for high power operation. In cold test, the distributed window reflectivity was measured while the window was heated. The cold test results are in good agreement with the theory.  相似文献

As one of the relativistic electron tubes having compact configuration and high efficient output,the relativistic magnetron with direct axial radiation is very attractive in pulsed power and high power microwave fields for industrial and military applications.In this paper,the experimental investigation of a relativistic magnetron with axial TE 11 mode radiation is reported.Under a total length of ~ 0.3 m,volume of ~ 0.014 m 3,working at an applied voltage of 508 kV and a magnetic field of ~ 0.31 T,the relativistic magnetron radiates a microwave of 540 MW with the TE 11 mode at 2.35 GHz in the axial direction.The power conversion efficiency is 15.0%.After a lot of shots,the detected amplitudes of microwaves are nearly the same.The fluctuations of wave amplitudes are less than 0.3 dB.  相似文献

简要分析了相3对论磁控管的主要特点与问题,编制了谐振系统数值计算程序,通过数值计算与冷测,对不同阴极尺寸与输出结构的磁控管进行了研究,清晰地描述了磁控管的振荡模式与简并现象。制作了A6型相对论磁控管并进行了热测实验,研究了输出功率与工作磁场的关系,经过大量优化工作,在S波段获得了380MW的微波辐射。  相似文献

We consider the problem of scattering of a narrow pulsed wave beam irradiating a randomly rough surface in the atmosphere under conditions of strong shadowing of one surface element by another. Expressions for the average power recorded by a receiver are obtained for the case where a locally Lambertian surface with Gaussian distribution of heights and slopes is irradiated by a delta impulse. It is shown that the shadowing and the atmospheric turbulence give rise to a considerable distortion of the received optical signal. The obtained analytical expressions for the received power are in good agreement with the results of numerical calculations.  相似文献

First- and second-harmonic radiations in frequency regions centered around 120 and 240 GHz, respectively, have been observed from a gyromonotron employing magnetic fields between 34 and 54 kG and a magnetron injection gun preducing a 30-kV, 1- to 2-A electron beam. Extensive redesign of the cavity, electron beam tunnel holders, and vacuum envelope resulted in greatly improved tube performance over that obtained previously. Nine first-harmonic modes and three second-harmonic modes were identified with specific TE cavity modes. These identifications were based on agreement between the measured frequency of a radiation and the calculated resonant frequency of a TE mode, and one or both of the following: (a) the agreement between the magnetic field at which the radiation occurred and that predicted by linear theory calculations of threshold current versus magnetic field for that mode; and (b) the similarity between the far-field antenna pattern measured with calibrated, waveguide-mounted detectors and that predicted for that mode. Output power was measured with a Scientech 362 Calorimeter and also estimated by integrating the far-field antenna patterns measured with the calibrated detectors. The power ranged from a fraction of a watt to 200 W for second-harmonic modes, and from tens of watts to 2 kW for first-harmonic modes.  相似文献

 根据回旋管对电子枪的要求,采用综合法和分析法设计了该单阳极磁控注入电子枪。编制了一套大型的计算程序,利用计算机辅助设计,给出了电极形状、电子轨迹与电子注参量。计算表明,这种电子枪具有速度零散小、层流性较好、体积小等特点。该枪已用于制管实验中。由热测实验表明,它具有明显的优点,并获得了127kW的峰值功率和超过10%的效率。  相似文献

We experimentally study the optical emission of a thin quantum well and its dynamic modulation by a surface acoustic wave (SAW). We observe a characteristic transition of the modulation from one maximum to two maxima per SAW cycle as the acoustic power is increased which we find in good agreement with numerical calculations of the SAW controlled carrier dynamics. At low acoustic powers the carrier mobilities limit electron-hole pair dissociation, whereas at high power levels the induced electric fields give rise to efficient acousto-electric carrier transport. The direct comparison between the experimental data and the numerical simulations provide an absolute calibration of the local SAW phase.  相似文献

We report on 120-mW directly measured cw power at 532 nm from a tunable alpha -distributed-feedback laser diode near 1.064 microm frequency doubled in a KTP crystal operating room temperature inside a ring cavity. Our experimental setup allows us to scan frequencies up to 2 THz in the green-light domain and thus is extremely useful for iodine spectroscopy. We show good agreement between experimental results and theoretical predictions for the second-harmonic generation process.  相似文献

We present measurements of the power noise that is due to optical amplification in a laser-diode-pumped Nd:YAG free-space traveling-wave linear amplifier in a master-oscillator-power-amplifier configuration. The quantum noise behavior of the optical amplifier was demonstrated by use of InGaAs photodetectors in a balanced detection configuration, at a total photocurrent of 100 mA and in a frequency band from 6.25 to 15.625 MHz. C波段高稳定度磁控管是目前磁控管的研究重点。对5.8GHz磁控管进行模拟研究,冷腔计算磁控管π模频率为5.863GHz,阳极用双端双隔模带结构磁控管的工作频率与相邻模式频率分隔度为44%。模拟磁控管输出频率为5.856GHz,输出微波功率约1.2kW。对研制的磁控管进行注入锁定实验研究,输出微波功率1.047kW,效率约为58%。磁控管锁频锁相后输出的频率和相位稳定。  相似文献

We report the observation and study of optical bistability in the power transmitted by a twisted nematic liquid crystal bounded by crossed dichroic polarizers. A detailed study of the dependence of the phenomenon on the sample initial temperature has been performed. The effect is a good test for a simple theoretical model which describes the isotropic droplet formation in a nematic sample under laser illumination. A good agreement is found between experimental results and theoretical predictions. Applications of the effect to realize temperature sensors are envisaged.  相似文献

The evolution of effective force chains percolating through a compressed granular system is investigated. We compressed an ensemble of spherical particles monitoring the macroscopic constitutive behavior and the acoustic signals emitted by microscopic rearrangements of particles. We applied the continuous damage model of fiber bundles to describe the evolution of the array of force chains. The model provides a nonlinear constitutive behavior in good quantitative agreement with the experimental results. The amplitude distribution of acoustic signals was found experimentally to follow a power law of an exponent delta=1.15+/-0.05, which is in good agreement with the analytic solution of the model.  相似文献

We demonstrate a midinfrared source tunable from 6.7 to 12.7 μm via difference frequency generation (DFG) in orientation-patterned GaAs, with 1.3 mW average output power. The input pulses are generated via Raman self-frequency shift of a femtosecond Tm-doped-fiber laser system in a fluoride fiber. We numerically model the DFG process and show good agreement between simulations and experiments. We use this numerical model to show an improved design using longer pump pulses.  相似文献
