A MHD, symmetrical, nonpotential waves in nonuniform, cylindrical nonisothermal plasma waveguide placed in a finite external magnetic field H 0 directed along the axis of the waveguide are considered. The thermal velocity of the electrons νTe = (kTe/me)1/2 (k — Boltzman's constant, Te — temperature, me — mass of the electron) is not neglected. As a consequence we obtain one more solution in the plasma region and respectively an equation of third power on χ2 — the transverse wave number. As far as we know only equations of second power on χ2 describing non-potential waves are investigated. The dispersion equations are written solving the boundary-value problem. Our results coincide with well known ones when the electron thermal velocity tends to zero.  相似文献

Linear and nonlinear propagation of magnetic electron drift vortex waves in a nonuniform magnetic field is investigated by means of a generalized adiabatic law which takes into account the effect of strong fields and reduces in the appropriate limits to several well known energy conservation equations in a collisionless plasma. In the linear limit, an instability is shown to exist, whereas in the nonlinear regime, steady-state dipole vortices associated with the electron drift vortex waves may appear. The anomalous electron energy transport associated with the unstable magnetic electron drift vortex waves is investigated by means of a quasilinear theory.  相似文献

The interaction of an energetic He plasma beam with a quasi step-like transverse magnetic barrier is reported. When the rate of flow of momentum in the incident beam is less than the pressure of the magnetic field, a collisionless electrostatic shock is observed to form in front of the barrier as a result of the drastic compression of the plasma. The initially cold plasma is substantially thermalized by the shock and the electron density is increased by a factor of four. In the opposite limit the plasma penetrates the barrier in a flute-like manner.  相似文献

Dispersion equations of a nonisothermal plasma waveguide in a constant external magnetic field are derived, when the magnetic field intensity tends to infinity. The plasma electrons' thermal velocity are taken in mind. A numerical analysis of dispersion equations for the E- (TH-) and H- (TE-) waves is made. In the high-frequency range it shows the possibility of the slow E-waves exciting with a higher frequency than the electron Langmuir frequency. In the range near to the ion Langmuir frequency it shows the existence of waves with an anomalous dispersion. These waves are named low-frequency backward E-waves and it is shown, that in some frequency ranges they change the group velocity sign. The dispersion is investigated also in respect to the waveguide plasma filling.  相似文献

The stellar energy loss rate due to the production of neutrino pairs by Bremsstrahlung is calculated for neutron stars in the presence of a strong magnetic field (B ? 1012 G) and the Coulomb field of the positive ions. The calculated energy loss rates are applied to nonrelativistic electrons at low densities ? 105 gm/cm3 and relatively low temperatures T ? 109 K.  相似文献

We study the possibilities of using mutual amplification (at one frequency) of two traveling transverse waveguide-system modes, coupled by a Bragg structure, in electron microwave amplifiers. Based on the universal asymptotic equations, we show that the broadening of the bandwidth of resonant electron–wave interaction in such a device can lead to a significant increase in the efficiency and make the amplifier less sensitive to the electron velocity spread.  相似文献

We study the limiting behavior of a singularly perturbed Schr?dinger-Poisson system describing a 3-dimensional electron gas strongly confined in the vicinity of a plane (x, y) and subject to a strong uniform magnetic field in the plane of the gas. The coupled effects of the confinement and of the magnetic field induce fast oscillations in time that need to be averaged out. We obtain at the limit a system of 2-dimensional Schr?dinger equations in the plane (x, y), coupled through an effective selfconsistent electrical potential. In the direction perpendicular to the magnetic field, the electron mass is modified by the field, as the result of an averaging of the cyclotron motion. The main tools of the analysis are the adaptation of the second order long-time averaging theory of ODEs to our PDEs context, and the use of a Sobolev scale adapted to the confinement operator.  相似文献

Nonlinear behaviour of electron plasma waves propagating in a planar plasma-loaded waveguide immersed in an infinite magnetic field is analysed including finite temperature and mobile ion effects. It is shown that the wave becomes modulationally unstable if the wavenumber exceeds certain critical value Kc, which decreases with rise of temperature. The growth rate of instability is calculated and is found to increase with the rise of temperature.  相似文献

The injection of a plasma bunch into a multipolar trap can be applied to fill the trap with a plasma. The injection of the bunch into a tokamak-like trap can be considered an additional means for controlling the processes of plasma heating and fuel delivery to the central zone of a thermonuclear reactor. In both cases, the bunch is injected normally to the magnetic field of the trap. It has been shown theoretically, experimentally, and by numerical simulation that the depth of plasma bunch penetration into the magnetic field varies in direct proportion to the bunch energy and in inverse proportion to the magnetic pressure and the cross-sectional area of the plasma bunch. The data of this work allow researchers to estimate the values of plasma bunch parameters at which the bunch will be trapped. As a result, the process of plasma bunch trapping has been optimized.  相似文献

The propagation of surface modes in warm non-magnetized quantum plasma is investigated.The surface modes are assumed to propagate on the plane between vacuum and warm quantum plasma.The quantum hydrodynamic model including quantum diffraction effect(the Bohm potential) and quantum statistical pressure is used to derive a new dispersion relation of surface modes.The new dispersion relation of surface modes is analyzed in some special interesting cases.It is shown that the dispersion relation can be reduced to the earlier results in some special cases.The results indicate that the quantum effects can facilitate the propagation of surface modes in such a semi-bounded plasma system.This work is helpful to understand the physical characteristics of the surface modes and the bounded quantum plasma.  相似文献

Within the simplest model of metals, namely a gas of electrons with Coulomb interactions, in the presence of a uniform background of positive charge to enforce electric neutrality of the system, we have derived a mechanism by which the Coulomb interaction between the electrons generates a new kind of magnetism. The ground state of the metal is represented by a magnetically ordered state described by a non-local magnetic field. This non-local magnetic field does not produce spin polarisation of electrons, but induces a special long range correlation between electrons of opposite spin. This mechanism results in a theoretical value for the binding energy per electron, which is lower than the corresponding value for the unmagnetised state of the metal. The new magnetic order, proposed and analysed theoretically here, can in principle be experimentally tested.  相似文献

The effective static dielectric constant of an electron plasma system in the simultaneous presence of two electromagnetic waves and a strong DC magnetic field is calculated. It is found that as the difference Δω of the two electromagnetic wave frequencies matches the plasma frequency ωρ a breakdown in screening occurs thereby increasing the plasma heating rate via the external fields due to inverse Bremmstrahlung. The modulational instability of ion-acoustic wave in a collisionless, unmagnetized plasma consisting ofwarm ions, hot isothermal electrons, and relativistic electron beam is studied. A modified nonlinear Schrodinger equationincluding one additional term that comes from the effect of relativistic electron beam is derived. It is found that theinclusion of a relativistic electron beam would modify the modulational instability of the wave packet and could notadmit any stationary soliton waves.  相似文献

We study the interaction of a rectilinear nonrelativistic electron beam with a solid-state plasma in a rectangular metal waveguide, as well as wave processes in a plasma waveguide of rectangular cross section in the absence of an electron beam.
