The quantitative assessment of lactic acid in tissue is an important goal for in vivo volume-selective NMR spectroscopy to aid in the noninvasive diagnosis of oxygen deficiency or other metabolic disorders. PRESS localized 1H spectra provide comparatively high signal-to-noise ratio from small volume elements in a single acquisition mode. The quantification of lactate after multipulse excitation is not trivial due to the J-coupling characteristics which do not occur for the substances serving as references. The influence of the timing scheme and of the quality of the refocusing pulses was systematically evaluated for the lactate resonances by volume-selective measurements. Gaussian pulses, Hanning-filtered sinc pulses, and numerically optimized RE-BURP-pulses were applied for refocusing the magnetization in the PRESS sequence and the effects on the lactate AX3 spin system were compared. For these pulses, sequence parameters are presented providing high sensitivity to lactate signals. Timing schemes are shown which provide good quantification of lactate, even in cases with B1-inhomogeneities or slight misadjustment of the transmitter amplitude. The combination of both echo times in the double-echo sequences clearly influences the signal characteristics of lactate at overall echo times near TE = 145 and 290 ms, which may result in pure in-phase magnetization for this weakly coupled homonuclear system. Numerically optimized refocusing pulses (RE-BURP) provided up to 50% higher signal ratio of the methyl protons of lactate to uncoupled nuclei than the often used Hanning-filtered sinc pulses.  相似文献

The polarization properties of the photon echo generated by two linearly polarized pulses of resonant radiation at the (6s6p)3 P 1 ? (6s 2)1 S 0 transition of 174Yb are investigated. A complicated polarization behavior of the photon echo versus an angle between the polarization vectors of the excitation pulses is revealed in a mixture of ytterbium vapor with inert gas. For the angles ranging from 0° to 75°, a conventional echo with its linear polarization coinciding with the second excitation pulse dominates and the echo amplitude decreases with an increasing angle. For the angles ranging from 75° to 89°, the photon echo is elliptically polarized. Finally, for an angle of 90°, the conventional echo disappears and the collision echo becomes linearly polarized along the first excitation pulse.  相似文献

We studied spin echoes formed in the nematic crystalline phase using 90°- τ-β pulse sequence, where τ is the time between pulses and β the rotation produced by the second pulse. The decay of the echoes as a function of 2τ is nearly exponentail with a time constant TE. Both TE and the echo amplitude at a fixed τ were studied as a function of β in two nematics.  相似文献

Two T2-independentJ-difference lactate editing schemes for the PRESS magnetic resonance spectroscopy localization sequence are introduced. The techniques, which allow for simultaneous acquisition of the lactate doublet (1.3 ppm) and edited singlets upfield of and including choline (3.2 ppm), exploit the dependence of the in-phase intensity of the methyl doublet upon the time interval separating two inversion (BASING) pulses applied to its coupling partner after initial excitation. Editing method 1, which allows for echo times TE =n/J(n= 1, 2, 3, …), alters the BASING carrier frequency for each of two cycles so that, for one cycle, the quartet is inverted, whereas, for the other cycle, the quartet is unaffected. Method 2, which also provides water suppression, allows for editing for TE > 1/Jby alternating, between cycles, the time interval separating the inversion pulses. Experimental results were obtained at 1.5 T using a Shinnar Le–Roux-designed maximum phase inversion pulse with a filter transition bandwidth of 55 Hz. Spectra were acquired from phantoms andin vivofrom the human brain and neck. In a neck muscle study, the lipid suppression factor, achieved partly through the use of a novel phase regularization algorithm, was measured to be over 103. Spectra acquired from a primary brain and a metastatic neck tumor demonstrated the presence of lactate and choline signals consistent with abnormal spectral patterns. The advantages and limitations of the methods are analyzed theoretically and experimentally, and significance of the results is discussed.  相似文献

The derivation and investigation of two new J-compensated attached-proton-test experiments, CAPT2 and CAPT3, are presented. These methods incorporate fewer pulses than CAPT and are shown to be more effective over a wider range of 1JCH than spin flip, APT, and CAPT for CH, CH2, and CH3 spin systems. In addition, the magnitude of the flip angle of the initial pulse which creates transverse carbon magnetization is unrestricted in CAPT2 and CAPT3. The compensated CAPT3 sequence, which is patterned after the 90°x90°y90°x composite pulse, is found to be excellent for routine use in 13C spectroscopy.  相似文献

Localized 1H NMR spectroscopy using the 90°−t1−180°−t1+t2−180°−t2−Acq. PRESS sequence can lead to a signal loss for the lactate doublet compared with signals from uncoupled nuclei which is dependent on the choice of t1 and t2. The most striking signal loss of up to 78% of the total signal occurs with the symmetrical PRESS sequence (t1=t2) at an echo time of 2/J (290 ms). Calculations have shown that this signal loss is related to the pulse angle distributions produced by the two refocusing pulses which leads to the creation of single quantum polarization transfer (PT) as well as to not directly observable states (NDOS) of the lactate AX3 spin system: zero- and multiple-quantum coherences, and longitudinal spin orders. In addition, the chemical shift dependent voxel displacement (VOD) leads to further signal loss. By calculating the density operator for various of the echo times TE=n/J, n=1, 2, 3, …, we calculated quantitatively the contributions of these effects to the signal loss as well as their spatial distribution. A maximum signal loss of 75% can be expected from theory for the symmetrical PRESS sequence and TE=2/J for Hamming filtered sinc pulses, whereby 47% are due to the creation of NDOS and up to 28% arise from PT. Taking also the VOD effect into account (2 mT/m slice selection gradients, 20-mm slices) leads to 54% signal loss from NDOS and up to 24% from PT, leading to a maximum signal loss of 78%. Using RE-BURP pulses with their more rectangular pulse angle distributions reduces the maximum signal loss to 44%. Experiments at 1.5 T using a lactate solution demonstrated a maximum lactate signal loss for sinc pulses of 82% (52% NDOS, 30% PT) at TE=290 ms using the symmetrical PRESS sequence. The great signal loss and its spatial distribution is of importance for investigations using a symmetrical PRESS sequence at TE=2/J.  相似文献

The possibility for echo signal switching-off and the switching of echo polarization between the ±45° positions is demonstrated for the photon echo (PE) and stimulated photon echo (SPE) generated in Yb vapor at the (6s6p)3 P 1 ? (6s 2)1 S 0 transition by two pulses of the resonant linearly polarized radiation at appropriate experimental parameters in the weak magnetic field limit. The experimental data are in qualitative agreement with the theoretical analysis and the calculations made for the 1 ? 0 transition. The strong magnetic field limit leads to unpolarized PE and SPE signals generated by linearly polarized radiation pulses. The possibility of the generation of a long-lived echo in ytterbium vapor due to the magnetic field induced mixing of the upper working level with the metastable level is discussed. The results can be employed for the optical data storage and processing.  相似文献

Isotropic depolarizing collisions are studied using a stimulated photon echo with a specific polarization of the excitation radiation pulses in a mixture of ytterbium with krypton for the J = 1 ? J = 0 transition of 174Yb. The difference between the relaxation rates of orientation and alignment γ b (2) ? γ b (1) of the 3 P 1(6s6p) 174Yb level is measured as a function of the krypton pressure. The collision photon echo at the J = 1 ? J = 0 transition induced by the anisotropic relaxation is studied for the Yb + Xe mixture. The power of the collision echo increases from zero with the addition of a buffer gas to ytterbium, reaches an optimal level, and decreases with an increase in the buffer gas pressure. The polarization of this collision-induced echo differs from the polarization of the conventional echo. The experimental results are in qualitative agreement with theoretical predictions.  相似文献

The elastic scattering of α-particles from 32S was studied in the incident energy range between 4 and 8.9 MeV. In order to ascertain whether quasi-molecular states exist, as predicted in the α-32S system, excitation functions were measured, and angular distribution measurements were carried out using targets with different thicknesses in the angular range from θlab = 30° to 175° at each extreme in the excitation functions. The analysis of the angular distribution data at back angles was performed using the Regge-pole method. A resonance with J = 3 was observed at 7.7 MeV in the α-32S system. Evidence was also found for both a broad resonance which can be characterized by an angular momentum J = 1, and for a narrow J = 2 resonance.  相似文献

PurposeMulti-spin echo acquisition cine imaging (MUSACI) is a method used for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics imaging based on the proton phase dispersion and flow void using 3D multi-spin echo imaging. In a previous study, the refocusing flip angle of MUSACI was set at a constant 80°. We conducted the present study to investigate the preservation the CSF signal intensity even in a long echo train and improve the ability to visualize CSF movement by modifying the refocusing flip angle in MUSACI.MethodsThe MUSACI images were acquired in 10 healthy volunteers (7 men and 3 women; age range 24–44 years; mean age 29.4 ± 6.2 years) with a 3.0 Tesla MR scanner. Five refocusing flip angle sets were applied: constant 30°, constant 50°, constant 80°, pseudo-steady state (PSS) 50°–70°–100° (PSS 50°), and PSS 80°–100°–130° (PSS 80°). In all sequences, the in-plane spatial resolution was 0.58 × 0.58 mm2, and the CSF movement for one heartbeat was drawn at 80-msec intervals. The signal intensity (SI) of CSF in the lateral ventricle, the foramen of Monro, the third ventricle, the fourth ventricle, and the pons was measured on MUSACI. Pearson's correlation coefficient was calculated between the CSF SI and effective echo time (TE; TEeff) in the lateral ventricle.ResultsBoth antegrade and retrograde CSF movements on the midsagittal MUSACI images and the retrograde CSF movement in the foramen of Monro was observed in all sequences with the constant flip angles. A strong reverse correlation between the CSF SI in the lateral ventricle and TEeff values was observed with constant 30° (r = −0.96, p < 0.01), constant 50° (r = −0.97, p < 0.01) and constant 80° (r = −0.88, p < 0.01). A weak positive correlation was observed with PSS 50° (r = 0.28, p = 0.43), and a moderate reverse correlation was observed at PSS 80° (r = −0.60, p = 0.07). The SI values of the foramen of Monro, the third ventricle, and the fourth ventricle were significantly lower than that of the lateral ventricle, and those values were higher than that of the pons in both the constant 80° sequence and the PSS 50° sequence.ConclusionPSS 50° could be the optimal flip angle scheme for MUSACI, because the SI changes due to CSF movement and the SI preservation due to a long echo train were large due to the use of the refocusing flip angle method.  相似文献

Integrated intensity data at 300°K for J-multiplets between P(11)and R(11) in the V3-fundamental of 12CH4 are presented, along with the intensity of the entire Q-branch, which also encompasses the Q-branch of the V3-fundamental of 13CH4. These data, together with theoretical estimates for the intensities of J-multiplets of J > 11, sum up to a value of Sband= 284±14cm?2atm?1 at 300°K. This results is in excellent agreement with most of the previously published values for this parameter. Within experimental error, the intensities of the J-multiplets in the V3-fundamental do not seem to exhibit the strong anamolies that were characteristic of lines in the 2V3-band.Line widths have been measured at 100°K, 130°K, 190°K, 250°K, and 300°K for R(0), R(1), and R(2) broadened by He, Ne and Ar. The temperature dependence of the line width is discussed for the three cases of broadening. In neon broadening at 300°K, the ‘effective mean line widths’ for multiplets R(3) through R(11) have also been obtained experimentally; their J-dependence is interpreted using Gordon's theory of line shapes in multiplet spectra.  相似文献

The proton echo responses to resonant 90°-τ-β90° (XY) and 90-τ-β (XX) pulse sequences in powdered crystalline hydrates are reported. The echo produced by the XY sequence consists of two components: one is proportional to sin2 β and the other to sin2 β cos2 β; the former component decays much faster than the latter on increasing the pulse spacing τ. In contrast, the XX sequence produces a single component echo of the form - sin2 β cosβ. The maximum echo amplitudes for the sequences 90°-τ-90°90° and 90°-τ-54°44′ exhibit a gaussian dependence on τ2 over at least 95 per cent of their decays. The decay constant for the 90-τ-90°90° echo corresponds to M 2(inter) = 5/6 M 2 vv(inter), where M 2 vv(inter) is the interpair second moment calculated by the van Vleck procedure. These observations can be explained in terms of a simple model consisting of a planar arrangement of two spin-1/2 pairs provided the interpair dipolar hamiltonian is truncated so that [?o a(intra) + ?o, t d(inter), ?z] = 0 and [?o a(intra), ?o, t d(inter)] = 0.

The model predicts the echo behaviour only if the spin-1 character of the eigenfunctions of ?o d(intra) + ?z is preserved in the presence of the interpair interactions. It is shown that the XX echo and the sin2 β cos2 β components of the XY sequence originate solely in the interpair interactions and contain no contributions from the intrapair interactions. The decay of the maximum echo amplitude with increasing τ is caused by the incomplete refocusing of the interpair interactions by the XX and XY sequences; the correct decay is only determined provided the interpair dipolar hamiltonian is correctly truncated. The model also accounts for the proton echo behaviour in solid hydrogen reported by Metzger and Gaines.

Interestingly, the N.M.R. behaviour observed for these spin-1/2 pair systems is largely determined by the eigenfunctions of the spin Hamiltonian with Mz = 0.  相似文献

Spin waves have been measured in MnO by inelastic scattering of neutrons from 4 °K to a temperature 0·25 °K below TN. The 4 °K spectrum is interpreted in the frame of linear spin wave theory with effective exchange integrals J1? = 0·321 meV, J1+ = 0·424 meV, J21 = 0·446 meV and a phenomenological parameter for anisotropy D1 = 0·059 meV. The effect of the actual dipole-dipole Hamiltonian is shown to give a priori a very good account of the lifting of the degeneracy of spin waves near the Brillouin zone center. The Bloch model for interacting spin waves and theories based on Green function approximations have been adapted to the MnO case, in order to compute the main properties (mean magnetization of a sublattice, anisotropic deformation, extra isotropic contraction and magnon spectrum) at many temperatures. Comparison of these with experimental results tends to favour a generalized Callen renormalization model, which gives an overall fit from 4 °K, to temperalures close to TN.  相似文献

The 3D localized13C spectroscopy methods LINEPT and LODEPT, which are modifications of INEPT and DEPT, are proposed. As long as a13C inversion pulse (180-degree pulse) is applied at 1/(4J) before the proton echo time in LINEPT and a13C excitation pulse (90-degree pulse) is applied at 1/(2J) before the proton echo time in LODEPT, the proton echo time can be set to any value longer than 1/(2J) in LINEPT and longer than 1/Jin LODEPT. As a result, the proton and the13C pulses can be applied separately and these proton pulses can be made slice-selective pulses. These localization features of LINEPT and LODEPT were evaluated using a phantom consisting of a cylinder filled with ethanol placed inside another cylinder filled with oil, and localized ethanol spectra could be obtained.In vivo3D localized13C spectra from the brain of a monkey could be obtained using decoupled LINEPT, and glutamate C-4 appeared directly after the administration of glucose C-1, followed by the appearance of glutamate C-2, C-3 and glutamine C-2, C-3, C-4.  相似文献

Methods for editing spectra based upon maximum-quantum filtering in two-dimensional 1H NMR are presented (MAXY NMR). Separation of 1H resonances from 13CH, 13CH2, and 13CH3 groups is demonstrated, using the coherence of the attached natural-abundance 13C spin. Two-dimensional correlation pulse sequences based on J connectivity (MAXY-COSY), total J connectivity (MAXY-TOCSY), and NOE and exchange processes (MAXY-NOESY) are given and exemplified using dexamethasone as a model compound. In addition, an improved form of a 13CH2 only COSY spectrum (gem-COSY) is shown, and the application of z magnetic-field gradients is demonstrated as an alternative to phase cycling. The approach should have utility in the assignment of complex 1H NMR spectra which arise from peptides or complex mixtures such as biofluids.  相似文献

The 1Н MRS is a unique method allowing in vivo observation of concentrations of proton-containing chemical compounds in human tissues and organs. The main problem of this technique is the signal overlap caused by the similarity of structural fragments of variousmetabolites. To separate overlapped signals, the J-modulation technique for editing spectra, based on the spin–spin interaction can be used. In this study, a method of direct observation of the lifetime aspartate concentration in local regions of the human brain, based on the MEGA-PRESS pulse sequence, is developed for the first time.  相似文献

Ion irradiation effects on improvement of flux-pinning properties for quenched and melt growth YBCO samples (QMG-materials) were studied. Irradiation with 16MeV protons was performed up to a dose of 1×1016 p/cm2. The effective activation energies of vortices are expressed with the formula, Ueff=g(T)h(H)f(J) ∝ (J/Jc)−∝* [1-(T/Tx)2]2/3*H−1/3 at lower irradiation doses below 5×1015 p/cm2. The J-dependence of Ueff changes from power-law to quesi-exponential dependence with an increment of irradiation dose.  相似文献

The appearance of a “liquid-like” proton T2 component above 100°C and the relatively high value of the proton self-diffusion coefficient D = (5–8) × 10-7cm2sec-1 between 175°C and 200°C demonstrate the onset of a super-ionic state in N(CH3)4HSO4. Photon echo generated at the inter-combination transition (6s 2) 1 S 0 ? (6s6p) 3 P 1 of 174Yb was investigated for pure ytterbium vapor and for its mixtures with atomic buffers. In pure ytterbium vapor, the polarization of photon echoes at this 0?C1 transition coincides with the polarization of the second exciting pulse for all combinations of linear and circular polarizations of exciting radiation pulses. Photon echo does not appear either for linear orthogonal or for opposite circular polarizations of exciting pulses in pure ytterbium. In mixtures of ytterbium with atomic buffers (Kr, Xe), collision induced photon echo arises only for exciting pulses of linear orthogonal polarizations, its power is essentially less than that of the ordinary echo generated by pulses with parallel polarizations in the same mixture. Polarization of collision induced echo is linear, and it coincides with polarization of the first exciting pulse. Experimental results agree with calculations, and they confirm that the collision induced photon echo at this transition arises exclusively due to anisotropy of depolarizing collisions.  相似文献
