We present a theoretical study of the conductance in an Aharonov-Bohm interferometer containing two coupled quantum dots. The interdot tunneling divides the interferometer into two coupled subrings, where opposite magnetic fluxes are threaded separately while the net flux is kept zero. Using the Green function technique we derive the expression of the linear conductance. It is found that the Aharonov-Bohm effect still exists, and when the level of each dot is aligned, the exchange of the Fano and Breit-Wigner resonances in the conductance can be achieved by tuning the magnetic flux. When the two levels are mismatched the exchange may not happen. Further, for some specific asymmetric systems where the coupling strengths between the two dots and the leads are not equal, the flux can change the Fano resonance into an antiresonance, which is absent in symmetric systems.  相似文献

We report a theoretical study of the equilibrium spin current flowing in a quantum dot system. Two electrodes are the two-dimensional electron gas with Rashba or Dresselhaus spin-orbital interaction. By using the Keldysh Green's function technique, we demonstrated that a nonzero spin current can flow in the system without bias. At the weak coupling between electrodes and the quantum dot, the spin current is approximately proportional to the cross product of two average pseudo-magnetizations in two electrodes, which agrees with the result of the linear response theory; whereas at the opposite case, the strong coupling between the quantum dot and electrodes can lead to a non-sinusoidal behavior of the equilibrium spin current. These behaviors of the equilibrium spin current are similar to the Josephson current.  相似文献

The quasiclassical Green function formalism is used to describe charge and spin dynamics in the presence of spin-orbit coupling. We review the results obtained for the spin Hall effect on restricted geometries. The role of boundaries is discussed in the framework of spin diffusion equations.  相似文献

Using the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green function technique, we study the current and shot noise spectroscopy of an interacting quantum dot coupled to two ferromagnetic leads with different polarizations in the Kondo regime. General formulas of current and shot noise are obtained, which can be applied in both the parallel (P) and antiparallel (AP) alignment cases. For large polarization values, it is revealed that the behaviour of differential conductance and shot noise are completely different for spin up and spin down configurations in the P alignment case. However, the differential conductance and shot noise have similar properties for different spin configurations in the P alignment case with the small polarization value and in the AP alignment case with any polarization value.  相似文献

We investigate theoretically the spin-polarized electron transport for a wide-narrow-wide (WNW) quantum wire under the modulation of Rashba spin-orbit interaction (SOI). The influence of both the structure of the quantum wire and the interference between different pairs of subbands on the spin-polarized electron transport is taken into account simultaneously via the spin-resolved lattice Green function method. It is found that a very large vertical spin-polarized current can be generated by the SOI-induced effective magnetic field at the structure-induced Fano resonance even in the presence of strong disorder. Furthermore, the magnitude of the spin polarization can be tuned by the Rashba SOI strength and structural parameters. Those results may provide an effective way to design a spin filter device without containing any magnetic materials or applying a magnetic field.  相似文献

The charge conductance and the shot noise in an Aharonov--Bohm interferometer with double quantum dots embedded and coupled to each other by a capacity are studied in the framework of the equation of motion of Green’s function. From the impurity Anderson model Hamiltonian, the equations of motion of nonequilibrium Green functions are derived and solved including the effects of two body correlations under Lacroix’s approximation. Our results show that the conductance, the shot noise, and the Fano factor (the ratio of the shot noise to the Poisson noise) as functions of the magnetic flux oscillate with the period of h/e, and their oscillation behaviour is similar to the results of the experiment replacing the capacitive coupling by tunnelling between the two dots. The experiment is suggested to test the results.  相似文献

We investigated the potential for high-areal-density recording in current-perpendicular-to-plane giant magnetoresistive (CPP-GMR) heads with a current screen layer. The current screen layer is a nano-oxide layer with confined current paths. We fabricated the current screen CPP-GMR heads with a narrow sensor width of 40–50 nm, a high MR ratio of 17%, and low-resistance-area (RA) product of 0.2 Ω μm2. The fabricated heads showed a sufficiently high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 30–40 dB. No extra noise, such as spin-torque noise, was observed. Linear density of 1360 kFCI from the head with the magnetic read width of 45 nm was obtained. Distribution of sensor resistance due to nano-hole area distribution in the current screen layer can be reduced with low-RA film. Spin-torque noise can be suppressed by reducing the current-induced field and controlling the shape anisotropy. Accordingly, the current screen CPP-GMR head is a promising candidate that has the potential for high-areal-density recording.  相似文献

In terms of Kubo's formula and Green's function method, for the two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) with Rashba spin-orbit coupling (SOC), we study the spin polarization due to the effect from magnetic impurities with anisotropic spin dependent delta type coupling to electrons when an external dc electric field in plane is applied. The vertex correction of impurities in ladder approximation is carried out in the limit of EF?1/τ, Δ. We find that the strength of spin polarization can be significantly modified by vertex correction and the spin polarization is relevant to the anisotropy coefficient γ, but the direction of net spin polarization cannot be changed.  相似文献

The spin dependent electron transmission through a non-magnetic III-V semiconductor symmetric well is studied theoretically so as to investigate the output transmission current polarization at zero magnetic field. Transparency of electron transmission is calculated as a function of electron energy as well as the well width, within the one electron band approximation along with the spin-orbit interaction. Enhanced spin-polarized resonant tunneling in the heterostructure due to Dresselhaus and Rashba spin-orbit coupling induced splitting of the resonant level is observed. We predict that a spin-polarized current spontaneously emerges in this heterostructure. This effect could be employed in the fabrication of spin filters, spin injectors and detectors based on non-magnetic semiconductors.  相似文献

Electron spin-dependent transport properties have been theoretically investigated in two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) modulated by the magnetic field generated by a pair of anti-parallel magnetization ferromagnetic metal stripes and the electrostatic potential provided by a normal metal Schottky stripe. It is shown that the energy positions of the spin-polarization extremes and the width of relative spin conductance excess plateau could be significantly manipulated by the electrostatic potential strength and width, as well as its position relative to the FM stripes. These interesting features are believed useful for designing the electric voltage controlled spin filters.  相似文献

We present experimental investigations on the spatio-temporal nonlinear current flow in the post-breakdown regime of p-germanium at liquid-helium temperatures. The basic nonlinear effects are characterized in terms of the underlying semiconductor physics, taking into account the influence of different experimental parameters.  相似文献

To clarify the contributions of spin-polarized current and spin accumulation to the current-induced magnetization switching, the effects of the top electrode size of the magnetic nanopillar are investigated both theoretically and experimentally. Theoretical calculation demonstrates that the spin-polarized current and the spin accumulation can be adjusted in opposite directions by modifying the size of the top electrode. Increase in the size of the top electrode suppresses the spin accumulation but enhances the spin-polarized current inside the nanopillar. On the other hand, it is shown experimentally that the nanopillar with a wide top electrode exhibits small critical switching current compared to the nanopillar with a narrow top electrode. The results suggest that the spin-polarized current contributes to the current-induced magnetization switching dominantly over the spin accumulation.  相似文献

The spin-polarized tunneling current through a double barrier resonant tunneling diode (RTD) made with a semimagnetic semiconductor is studied theoretically. The calculated spin-polarized current and polarization degree are in agreement with recent experimental results. It is predicted that the polarization degree can be modulated continuously from +1 to −1 by changing the external voltage such that the quasi-confined spin-up and spin-down energy levels shift downwards from the Fermi level to the bottom of the conduction band. The RTD with low potential barrier or the tunneling through the second quasi-confined state produces larger spin-polarized current. Furthermore a higher magnetic field enhances the polarization degree of the tunneling current.  相似文献

We study the spin-polarized current through a vertical double quantum dot scheme. Both the Rashba spin–orbit (RSO) interaction inside one of the quantum dots and the strong intradot Coulomb interactions on the two dots are taken into account by using the second-quantized form of the Hamiltonian. Due to the existence of the RSO interaction, spin-up and spin-down electrons couple to the external leads with different strengths, and then a spin polarized current can be driven out of the middle lead by controlling a set of structure parameters and the external bias voltage. Moreover, by properly adjusting the dot levels and the external bias voltages, a pure spin current with no accompanying charge current can be generated in the weak coupling regime. We show that the difference between the intradot Coulomb interactions strongly influences the spin-polarized currents flowing through the middle lead and is undesirable in the generation of the net spin current. Based on the RSO interaction, the structure we propose can efficiently polarize the electron spin without the usage of any magnetic field or ferromagnetic material. This device can be used as a spin-battery and is realizable using the present available technologies.  相似文献

Ferromagnetic resonance spectra (FMR) on heterostructures of amorphous silicon dioxide films containing cobalt nanoparticles, (SiO2)100−xCox, grown on GaAs and Si substrates have been investigated over a frequency range of 37–41 GHz at room temperature. The FMR linewidth and saturation magnetization dependencies on the cobalt concentration have been analyzed. The impact of the semiconductor type on the FMR linewidth ΔH and a sharp increase in ΔH with a decreasing concentration of cobalt nanoparticles have been noted. The effect of considerable FMR linewidth broadening has been accounted for by the spin-polarized relaxation mechanism.  相似文献

The interplay between spin-orbit interaction in semiconductor valence bands and an adiabatic rotational distortion of the wave function of a charge carrier leads to the scalar spin-orbit-rotation term in the effective-mass Hamiltonian of the conduction-band electron. The physical origin of this result lies in the fact that, similarly to magnetic field effects, the motion of a particle and the phase of its wave function may be affected by the vector potential of the inertial Coriolis field. Here we present a straightforward derivation of this interaction within the multiband envelope function approximation.  相似文献

The spin-polarized tunneling current through a double barrier resonant tunneling diode (RTD) with ferromagnetic GaMnN emitter/collector is investigated theoretically. Two distinct spin splitting peaks can be observed at current-voltage (I-V) characteristics at low temperature. The spin polarization decreases with the temperature due to the thermal effect of electron density of states. When charge polarization effect is considered at the heterostructure, the spin polarization is enhanced significantly. A highly spin-polarized current can be obtained depending on the polarization charge density.  相似文献

Shot noise for entangled and spin-polarized states in a four-probe geometric setup has been studied by adding two rotating magnetic fields in an incoming channel. Our results show that the noise power oscillates as the magnetic fields vary. The singlet, entangled triplet and polarized states can be distinguished by adjusting the magnetic fields. The Berry phase can be derived by measuring the shot noise power.  相似文献

A systematic investigation about the strain distributions around the InAs/GaAs quantum dots using the finite element method is presented. A special attention is paid to influence of an Ino.2 Gao.sAs strain reducing layer. The numerical results show that the horizontal- and vertical-strain components and the biaz~ial strain are reinforced in the InAs quantum dot due to the strain-reducing layer. However, the hydrostatic strain in the quantum dot is reduced. In the framework of eight-band k · p theory, we study the band edge modifications due to the presence of a strain reducing layer. The results demonstrate that the strain reducing layer yields the decreasing band gap, i.e., the redshift phenomenon is observed in experiments. Our calculated results show that degree of the redshift will increase with the increasing thickness of the strain-reducing layer. The calculated results can explain the experimental results in the literature, and further confirm that the long wavelength emission used for optical fibre communication is realizable by adjusting the dependent parameters. However, based on the calculated electronic and heavy-hole wave function distributions, we find that the intensity of photoluminescence will exhibits some variations with the increasing thickness of the strain-reducing layer.  相似文献

We show that the drift-diffusion mechanism in a normal-metal layer in combination with the resonance electron–magnon interactions at ferromagnet-normal interface of F–N–F heterostructure creates spatial instability modes and, out of these modes, a quasi-stable periodic structure of spin-transfer d.c. current can arise with certain channel step and step-to-radius ratio. The ferromagnetic resonance conditions determine spin-transfer current density. Independent nanooscillators creating intersecting arrays of channels can phase-lock on sub-micrometer distance, which depends on multilayer geometry and applied fields. By decreasing the layer thickness, the number of channels affected by each independent d.c.-current source and their radius may be diminished. Phase-locking of multiple independent nanooscillators can be used for enhancement of output power.  相似文献
