We study theoretically the nonlinear responses of one-dimensional photonic crystals (PCs) composed of alternating two kinds of single-negative (permittivity-negative and permeability-negative) materials embedded with a Kerrtype nonlinear defect layer. In conventional PCs, it is difficult to realize a bistable switching with both low threshold and quick response time. However, in PCs with single-negative materials, by changing the ratio of the thicknesses of the two types of layers, with the decreasing size of the structure, the switching response time is shortened and the threshold intensity decreases simultaneously.  相似文献

We propose a photonic heterostructure consisting of two substructures composed of single-negative materials. Calculating the transmission spectra, we find that only the electromagnetic wave within a narrow bandpass and a narrow range of incident directions can be transmitted through this structure. Such structure can be used as a polarization-independent frequency filter integrated with a direction filter.  相似文献

The transmission properties of a double-periodic quasi-crystal containing single-negative materials are investigated with the transfer matrix method and effective medium theory. It is shown that the double-periodic quasi-crystal has a single-negative band gap between the zeros of average permittivity and average permeability of the effective medium. These zeros are affected only by the filling factor of the structure, and are independent from the order of the double-periodic quasi-crystal. Moreover, we show that the periodic structure created by repeating the double-periodic quasi-crystal has some omnidirectional band gaps at the single-negative frequency region. The number of such omnidirectional band gap increases by increasing the order of double-periodic quasi-crystal. Then, the structure can be used as a multichannel filter.  相似文献

从光的电磁理论出发,导出了光在单负材料周期性结构的传输矩阵:利用光学传输矩阵法对由两类单负材料组成的一维光子晶体的光学传输特性进行了数值模拟和理论分析:结果表明,这种结构具有一类新型的光子带隙。与布喇格带隙不同的是,这类光子带隙不会随着品格常数的缩放而移动。  相似文献

We study the transmission of one-dimensional photonic crystals consisting of single-negative permittivity and single-negative permeability media by using transfer matrix method. A pair of transmission modes is found in the gap. The transmission modes are dependent only on the ratio of the thicknesses of the two alternating layers. The separation of a pair of transmission modes can be tuned by varying the thickness of the defect layer or the ratio of thicknesses of the two alternating layers.  相似文献

The band structures of Fibonacci sequence composed of single-negative materials are studied with a transfer matrix method. A new type of omnidirectional single-negative gaps is found in the Fibonacci sequence. In contrast to the Bragg gaps, such an omnidirectional single-negative gap is insensitive to the incident angles and polarization, and is invariant upon the change of the ratio of the thicknesses of two media. It is found that omnidirectional single-negative gap exists in the other Fibonacci sequence, and it is rather stable and independence of the structure sequence.  相似文献

分析了含单负材料的光量子阱结构中的振荡透射模的性质.用两种单负(负介电常量或负磁导率)材料交替周期堆叠形成的两个光子晶体构造了一维光量子阱结构,该结构中仅其中一个光子晶体含有零有效位相带隙.数值计算结果发现,在零有效位相带隙内存在振荡透射模.通过改变井区域光子晶体内单负材料层的厚度及周期数,振荡透射模的数目、频率及频率间隔均可调节.振荡透射模对入射角度的依赖均很弱;随着入射角度的改变,缺陷模频率的相对改变量保持在0.02以下.该研究结果可用于设计多通道全向滤波器.  相似文献

Complete band gaps are found in one-dimensional photonic crystals composed of negative-permittivity and negative-permeability materials. The mechanism of these complete band gaps, unlike the Bragg complete gaps formed by interferences of forward/backward propagating waves, originate from the evanescent wave tunneling in the single-negative materials is reported for the first time. Moreover, it is also reported for the first time that both Bragg complete gaps and evanescent wave tunneling complete gaps exist in a three-constituent one-dimensional photonic structure simultaneously.  相似文献

The tunability of a one-dimensional surface plasmon polariton microcavity is studied theoretically, which is formed by seven silver ridges. The magnitude of the electric-field intensity of the microcavity mode is enhanced by two orders compared with that of the perfect silver ridge array. The localization properties of the surface plasmon polariton microcavity can be tailored by adjusting the structure parameters or by changing the refractive index of the covering material. The potential applications in photonics devices are also discussed.  相似文献

In this review, a brief introduction is given to the development of acoustic superlens cloaks that allow the cloaked object to receive signals while its presence is not sensed by the surrounding, which can be regarded as “cloaking an acoustic sensor”. Remarkably, the designed cloak consists of single-negative materials with parameters independent of the background medium or the sensor system, which is proven to be a magnifying superlens. This has facilitated significantly the design and fabrication of acoustic cloaks that generally require double-negative materials with customized parameters. Such innovative design has then been simplified further as a multi-layered structure comprising of two alternately arranged complementary media with homogeneous isotropic single-negative materials. Based on this, a scattering analyses method is developed for the numerical simulation of such multi-layered cloak structures, which may serve as an efficient approach for the investigation on such devices.  相似文献

In this work, we investigate the angular dependence of transmission and reflection in the single-negative (SNG) materials. We consider a model structure of a SNG bilayer which consists of the epsilon-negative (ENG) and mu-negative (MNG) layers. The wave transmission and reflection properties due to the losses from the ENG and MNG materials are specifically investigated. With the presence of losses in the ENG and MNG materials, some unusual wave properties will be explored and numerically demonstrated.  相似文献

本文分析了由负介电常数材料和负磁导率材料交替排列组成的一维三层结构中的电磁波模式,包括传播模及波导模.传播模对应于入射的行波模,着重研究了发生共振隧穿时场分布和透射谱随入射角度的变化关系,发现改变结构参数时共振隧穿频率会劈裂成两个,且这两个隧穿模的频率间距随着中间层厚度的减小而逐渐加大.波导模是指在结构两边的半无限真空中以倏逝场形式存在的电磁模式,分析了它的存在条件即色散关系,发现这种模在材料的交界面处会出现较强的局域场. 关键词: 单负材料 共振隧穿 传播模 波导模  相似文献

The properties and applications of omnidirectional and independently tunable defect modes in fractal photonic crystals containing single-negative materials are demonstrated. The proposed fractal structures can produce as many defect modes as desired by adjusting its structural parameters. The interaction effect between the defect states of such fractal structures is avoided, so the frequency of each defect mode can be tuned independently. Furthermore, these defect modes inside the zero effective-phase gap are insensitive to the incident angle. With perfect transmission, mode controllability and omnidirectional compatibility, these structures open a promising way for designing omnidirectional multichannel filters with specific channels.  相似文献

研究了介质层厚对含负折射率介质一维光子晶体Bragg微腔的缺陷模和双稳态的影响.在中心频率附近将传输矩阵各矩阵元采用泰勒级数展开并取一级近似,得到了缺陷模频率与介质层厚的关系式及品质因子公式.研究结果表明:一级近似法能很好地解释中心频率附近介质层厚对缺陷模频率的影响.理想Bragg微腔结构的缺陷模品质因子最大;递增正折射率介质层厚和增大缺陷层介质层厚、递减负折射率介质层厚及同时等量递减正和负折射率介质层厚,均可使缺陷模红移,双稳态阈值降低.  相似文献

采用结构Glass/DBR/ITO/NPB/NPB:Alq/Alq/Al制作了有机微腔电致发光器件。将空穴传输材料与发光材料以一定比例混合作为发光层,为了便于对比,在不改变有机层的膜厚的情况下同时制作了传统的异质结微腔器件,发现两种器件的发光光谱有很大不同,器件的复合效率与传统的异质结器件相比也得到了很大提高,这是因为将两种有机材料混合能消除界面势垒,提高器件的复合效率,从而提高了器件的发光性能,实现了微腔双模发射,且两个模式的半峰全宽分别为8nm和12nm。通过进一步优化器件结构可以实现微腔白光发射。  相似文献

The symmetrical confined states are found in photonic quantum-well structures with single-negative materials, in which the photonic barrier is based on the zero-effective-phase gap. The number and frequencies of the symmetrical confined states can be tuned by varying the period number and thicknesses of the well photonic crystal, respectively. Furthermore, the symmetrical confined states of the structures are less sensitive to the incident angle and polarization, compared with previous confined states of photonic quantum-well structures based on the Bragg or zero-average-index gap. The structures open a promising way to fabricate symmetrically tunable and omnidirectional multichannel filters for future dense wavelength division multiplexing applications.  相似文献

We theoretically design a heterostructure with which we can achieve a tunable zero-phase-shift omnidirectional filter. The results show that by simply adjusting the thickness of the defect layer of air, we can achieve adjustability of the tunneling mode. The multichannel filtering properties have been investigated by means of the transfer matrix method in photonic crystals containing two kinds of single-negative materials. Two sets of filtering channels appear simultaneously in the zero effective phase gaps. One is omnidirectional for TE polarization but angle-sensitive for TM polarization, while the other is angle-sensitive for TE polarization but omnidirectional for TM polarization. The resonance modes for different channels can be independently tuned. This structure provides an efficient way to fabricate omnidirectional multichannel filters with independently tunable polarization channels.  相似文献

根据Maxwell电磁场理论,推导出线偏振单色平面波的普适菲涅尔表达式,得到特异材料反射相移计算公式。利用反射相移公式研究了线偏振单色平面波从空气入射到单负材料(ε0或μ0)时分界面处反射相位的特性。结果表明单负材料界面处反射相位连续变化,与传统材料全反射的相位变化特点相似。  相似文献
