A solution to the problem of the mean sound field in liquid and elastic media with spherical particles causing monopole scattering of sound is proposed. The integral equation obtained for the field allows passage to the Helmholtz equation with an effective wave number. The characteristic features of the solution are the absence of radiation loss in the mean field wave and the absence of limitations on the particle concentration. The integral equation is used as the basis for solving the problem of the incidence of a plain sound wave at an arbitrary angle on a plane layer of a medium with particles.  相似文献

We study the multiple scattering of short-wavelength ultrasound through the force networks in dry and wet glass bead packings under stress. Over long distance scales, the diffusion approximation is shown to describe adequately the transport of elastic waves dominated by shear waves. The recovered transport mean path reveals a short-range correlation of the force chains. Also we observe the drastic effect of wetting liquids on the energy dissipation in the granular medium. The relevance of these experimental findings for the seismological applications is discussed.  相似文献

A theory describing scattering of particles with low energy E from an arbitrary 3D potential is proposed. An exact expression is derived for the s scattering amplitude in the limit E → 0. We express the effective permittivity tensor for a medium that is, on the average, motionless and nonstationary. It is shown that fast time pulsations of velocity lead to an increase in the average wave field and in the propagation velocity of an electromagnetic wave. Using a computer, we compare the surfaces of the frequency spectra of the strength of the scattered field for the Gaussian and diffusion components of the solenoidal velocity field. A theory is proposed for scattering of particles with a low energy E at an arbitrary 2D potential. This problem is solved using the expansion in the system of zero-energy eigenfunctions. Explicit expressions are obtained for the s-scattering amplitude and for the energy levels of weakly coupled s states. In this paper a kinetic equation is derived for the distribution function in the variable q=2 sin(ϑ/2) for the case of a scattering cross section of general form under the assumption that the region of multiple scattering (the diffusion region) is small. The limits of the kinetic equation are discussed, with no restrictions imposed on the scattering angles. It is found that the equation has a solution in the form of an integral. The long-range correlations in the reflected and transmitted fluxes in the case of the coherent transport of waves in an unordered medium with discrete inhomogeneities are considered. The correlator and spectrum of the intensity fluctuations are expressed in a general form in terms of the one-center scattering amplitude and the propagators of the mean radiated intensity. The random interference of the waves and the fluctuations of the number of scattering centers in a microvolume of the medium are taken into account simultaneously. Detailed calculations are performed for two limiting radiation propagation regimes, viz., spatial diffusion and small-angle multiple scattering. It is shown that the conservation of the total flux upon elastic scattering leads to the formation of a dip in the spectrum and, accordingly, a negative correlation between the intensities at large distances. In the case of spatial diffusion this feature is displayed upon reflection, and in the case of small-angle multiple scattering it is displayed upon transmission through a slab. The relative roles of the various sources of intensity fluctuations, as well as the sensitivity of the correlations to factors that influence the wave propagation regime, viz., the finite size of the scattering sample, absorption in the medium, and the presence of a frequency shift in the incident waves, are analyzed. We find that fluctuations in the distribution of the scatterers show up most strongly in a medium with strong, i.e., “non-Born,” centers, especially if they exhibit absorption. Zh. éksp. Teor. A systematic theory of multiple scattering is given for a nonpolar fluid of point dipoles. Local-field correction factors are consistently accounted for to all orders. To first order (single scattering) Einstein's result is obtained; the theory yields, however, automatically to this order the attenuation of the incoming beam before and of the scattered light after scattering. In the usual theories these effects are hidden in secular (shadow) contributions to multiple scattering. The single-triple and double-scattering intensities are briefly discussed.  相似文献

Relativistic charged particles in a uniform magnetic field and traveling waves of large amplitude can be accelerated limitlessly. Since much of phase space is chaotic the process can be viewed as chaotic scattering on waves. For multiple waves an explicit map arises with unusual properties. It contains infinite island chains around nonperiodic orbits and it is also an example of transient chaos in a Hamiltonian system.  相似文献

综合考虑声学边界层内的热损失和黏性损失,建立处于平面驻波声压波节位置二维球形颗粒外声流计算模型,利用分离时间尺度的数值方法对颗粒外声流流场特征进行模拟。将模拟结果与相应的解析解和实验结果对比,验证了数值模拟的可靠性。在此基础上,研究了雷诺数Re和斯特劳哈尔数Sr对球形颗粒声学边界层内二阶声流流场结构、涡流强度及范围的影响规律。结果表明,随SrRe增大,声学边界层内的涡流结构尺度呈指数形式减小,其涡流尺度与颗粒直径D和激励频率f成反比,与流体介质运动黏度v成正比;且满足低Sr和高Re的声振系统可形成范围较大、更强烈的声流运动。该数值方法可用于对任意物理模型外声流特性的评估。  相似文献

We ask about the possible existence of solitary waves in infinite, homogeneous, isotropic, elastic media. Namely, can a nonlinear localized wave packet propagate without altering its shape in such materials? We consider one- dimensional propagation both of body and surface waves. In the first case we show, under rather general assumptions, that if a wave packet propagates without altering its shape it must, of necessity, be a solution of a linear wave equation and in this sense, (body) solitary waves do not exist. Surface solitary waves may however exist: a model equation is derived in which nonlinear and dispersive effects balance each other to allow for waves-both periodic and solitary-of constant shape. It is conceivable they are of some relevance in seismology.  相似文献
