We have used coherent, resonant, x-ray magnetic speckle patterns to measure the statistical evolution of the microscopic magnetic domains in perpendicular magnetic films as a function of the applied magnetic field. Our work constitutes the first direct, ensemble-averaged study of microscopic magnetic return-point memory, and demonstrates the profound impact of interfacial roughness on this phenomenon. At low fields, the microscopic magnetic domains forget their past history with an exponential field dependence.  相似文献

We consider the formation and the Kondo effect of local magnetic moments in the Anderson-Hubbard model with off-diagonal disorder. The existence of moments at sites weakly coupled to the environment is deduced in effective medium approximation. The distribution of moments is calculated both deep in the metallic phase and near the metal-insulator transition. We discuss the Kondo quenching of the moments and derive a distribution of local Kondo temperatures.  相似文献

磁性斯格明子是拓扑稳定的自旋结构,它的尺寸小,驱动电流阈值小,被广泛认为是下一代磁性存储的基本单元.斯格明子的主要优势在于它奇特的动力学性质,特别是它能够与传导电子相互作用,在低电流密度驱动下可以在赛道上稳定地运动.本文结合磁性斯格明子赛道存储的最新研究成果,对斯格明子在赛道上的写入、驱动和读出三个方面进行了较为详细的综述.重点介绍了注入自旋极化电流这一最常见的驱动方法,分析了斯格明子在赛道上的堵塞和湮没现象,探讨了斯格明子霍尔效应及其可能造成信号丢失的危害和相关的解决方法,并在此基础上详细介绍了几种斯格明子塞道存储的优化设计方案.最后总结了磁性斯格明子赛道存储面临的一些挑战.  相似文献

We propose and analyze a general mechanism of disorder-induced order in two-component Bose-Einstein condensates, analogous to corresponding effects established for XY spin models. We show that a random Raman coupling induces a relative phase of pi/2 between the two BECs and that the effect is robust. We demonstrate it in one, two, and three dimensions at T=0 and present evidence that it persists at small T>0. Applications to phase control in ultracold spinor condensates are discussed.  相似文献

Using model calculations of a disordered d-wave superconductor with on-site Hubbard repulsion, we show how dopant disorder can stabilize novel states with antiferromagnetic order. We find that the critical strength of correlations or impurity potential necessary to create an ordered magnetic state in the presence of finite disorder is reduced compared to that required to create a single isolated magnetic droplet. This may explain why, in cuprates such as La2-xSrxCuO4, low-energy probes have identified a static magnetic component which persists well into the superconducting state, whereas, in cleaner systems such as YBa(2)Cu(3)O(6+delta), it is absent or minimal.  相似文献

The phenomenological approach introduced by Benisty [Appl. Phys. Lett. 76, 532 (2000)] to model out-of-plane radiation losses in planar photonic crystals with a low vertical refractive index contrast is extended to the case of in-plane disorder. The model is experimentally validated by means of optical measurements on GaAs-based structures. For the present fabrication techniques the disorder-induced contribution is found to be negligible compared with the other loss mechanisms.  相似文献

We address soliton transmission and reflection in nonlinear photonic lattices embedded into uniform Kerr nonlinear media. We show that by introducing disorder into the guiding lattice channels, one may achieve soliton transmission even under conditions where regular lattices reflect the input beam completely. In contrast, in the parameter range in which the lattice is almost transparent for incoming solitons, disorder may induce a significant reflection.  相似文献

A new mechanism is proposed to explain the enhancement of conductance in doped nanowires.It is shown that the anomalous enhancement of conductance is due to surface doping.The conductance in doped nanowires increases with dopant concentration,which is qualitatively consistent with the existing experimental results.In addition,the I-V curves are linear and thus suggest that the metal electrodes make ohmic contacts to the shell-doped nanowires.The electric current increases with wire diameter (D) and decreases exponentially with wire length (L).Therefore,the doped nanowires have potential application in nanoscale electronic and optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

We study the influence of quenched disorder on quantum phase transitions in systems with overdamped dynamics. For Ising order-parameter symmetry disorder destroys the sharp phase transition by rounding because a static order parameter can develop on rare spatial regions. This leads to an exponential dependence of the order parameter on the coupling constant. At finite temperatures the static order on the rare regions is destroyed. This restores the phase transition and leads to a double-exponential relation between critical temperature and coupling strength. We discuss the behavior based on Lifshitz-tail arguments and illustrate the results by simulations of a model system.  相似文献

A major challenge to achieving positional control of fluid borne submicron sized objects is regulating their Brownian fluctuations. We present a magnetic-field-based trap that regulates the thermal fluctuations of superparamagnetic beads in suspension. Local domain-wall fields originating from patterned magnetic wires, whose strength and profile are tuned by weak external fields, enable the bead trajectories within the trap to be managed and easily varied between strong confinements and delocalized spatial excursions that are described remarkably well by simulations.  相似文献

We investigate the electron transport through a graphene p-n junction under a perpendicular magnetic field. By using the Landauer-Büttiker formalism combined with the nonequilibrium Green function method, the conductance is studied for clean and disordered samples. For the clean p-n junction, the conductance is quite small. In the presence of disorders, it is strongly enhanced and exhibits a plateau structure at a suitable range of disorders. Our numerical results show that the lowest plateau can survive for a very broad range of disorder strength, but the existence of high plateaus depends on system parameters and sometimes cannot be formed at all. When the disorder is slightly outside of this disorder range, some conductance plateaus can still emerge with its value lower than the ideal value. These results are in excellent agreement with a recent experiment.  相似文献

Properties of excitons confined to potential fluctuations due to indium distribution in the wetting layer which accompany self-assembled InAs/GaAs quantum dots are reviewed. Spectroscopic studies are summarized including time-resolved photoluminescence and corresponding single-photon emission correlation measurements. The identification of charge states of excitons is presented which is based on results of a theoretical analysis of interactions between the involved carriers. The effect of the dots’ environment on their optical spectra is also shown.  相似文献

A numerical analysis of extrinsic diffraction losses in two-dimensional photonic crystal slabs with line defects is reported. To model disorder, a Gaussian distribution of hole radii in the triangular lattice of airholes is assumed. The extrinsic losses below the light line increase quadratically with the disorder parameter, decrease slightly with increasing core thickness, and depend weakly on the hole radius. For typical values of the disorder parameter the calculated loss values of guided modes below the light line compare favorably with available experimental results.  相似文献
