Sources of event-by-event elliptic flow fluctuations in relativistic heavy-ion collisions are investigated in a multiphase parton transport model(AMPT).Besides the well-known initial eccentricity fluctuations, several other sources of elliptic flow dynamical fluctuations are identified. One is fluctuations in initial parton configurations at a given eccentricity.Configuration fluctuations are found to be as important as eccentricity fluctuations in elliptic flow development.A second is quantum fluctuations in parton-parton interactions during system evolution.A third is fluctuations caused by hadronization and final-state hadronic scatterings. The magnitudes of these fluctuations are investigated relative to the eccentricity fluctuations and the average elliptic flow magnitude. The fluctuations from the latter two sources are found to be negative. The results may have important implications for the interpretation of elliptic flow data.  相似文献

The influence of spacetime dynamics in hadronization via parton coalescence at RHIC is investigated using covariant parton transport theory: Key observables, the quark number scaling of elliptic flow and the enhancement of the p/π ratio, show strong dynamical effects and differ from earlier results based on the simple coalescence formulas.  相似文献

We show that hadronization via quark coalescence enhances hadron elliptic flow at large p(perpendicular) relative to that of partons at the same transverse momentum. Therefore, compared to earlier results based on covariant parton transport theory, more moderate initial parton densities dN/deta(b=0) approximately 1500-3000 can explain the differential elliptic flow v(2)(p(perpendicular)) data for Au+Au reactions at sqrt[s]=130 and 200A GeV from BNL RHIC. In addition, v(2)(p(perpendicular)) could saturate at about 50% higher values for baryons than for mesons. If strange quarks have weaker flow than light quarks, hadron v(2) at high p(perpendicular) decreases with relative strangeness content.  相似文献

Effects of partonic interactions in heavy ion collisions at RHIC are studied in a multiphase transport model (AMPT) that includes both initial partonic and final hadronic interactions. It is found that a large parton scattering cross section is needed to understand the measured elliptic flow of pions and two-pion correlation function.  相似文献

We study the phase structure of QCD matter in the framework of a multiphase transport model by implementing a strong local parton density fluctuation scenario. Our calculations on the beam energy dependence of net-proton high moment show that local parton density fluctuation only has a small effect. But it becomes important when all baryons are included. We then study the effect on elliptic flow and find that an enhanced local parton density fluctuation leads to a significant effect on protons but a small effect on pions. Our study provides a reference of transport dynamics on QCD phase transition phenomena and will be relevant for the upcoming phase II of the beam energy scan program at RHIC.  相似文献

Production and space-time evolution of heavy quarks in central and non-central heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and LHC are studied with the partonic transport model Boltzmann Approach of MultiParton Scatterings (BAMPS). In addition to the initially created heavy quarks in hard parton scatterings during nucleon-nucleon collisions, secondary heavy quark production in the quark-gluon plasma is investigated and the sensitivity on various parameters is estimated. In BAMPS heavy quarks scatter with particles of the medium via elastic collisions, whose cross section is calculated with the running coupling and a more precise implementation of Debye screening. In this framework, we compute the elliptic flow and nuclear modification factor of heavy quarks and compare it to the experimental data.  相似文献

Egorov’s theorem for transversally elliptic operators, acting on sections of a vector bundle over a compact foliated manifold, is proved. This theorem relates the quantum evolution of transverse pseudodifferential operators determined by a first-order transversally elliptic operator with the (classical) evolution of its symbols determined by the parallel transport along the orbits of the associated transverse bicharacteristic flow. For a particular case of a transverse Dirac operator, the transverse bicharacteristic flow is shown to be given by the transverse geodesic flow and the parallel transport by the parallel transport determined by the transverse Levi-Civita connection. These results allow us to describe the noncommutative geodesic flow in noncommutative geometry of Riemannian foliations.  相似文献

Comparisons between the additional parton evolution (APE) model and Q2-rescaling (QR) model based on the recombination effect are made by means of investigating deep-inelastic (DIS) structure functions F2A, nuclear Drell-Yan process and nuclear gluon distributions. While explaining experimentally measured F2A(x) structure functions, the difference in the recombination results of the two models mainly lies in their sensitivity to input parton distributions and Q2-dependence. In predicting the nuclear Drell-Yan ratio, the APE model gives more reasonable results in the small x region than those of the QR model. The two motlels offer similar predictions of the nuclear gluon ratio Gsn(x)/Gc(x) which are extracted from the inelastic J/ψ production process.  相似文献

An analytic method for the solution of the evolution equation for generalized parton distributions (GPDs) is presented. The small x, xi asymptotics of GPDs are calculated.  相似文献

The implications of parton rearrangement processes on the dynamics of ultra-relativistic heavyion collisions have been investigated. A microscopic transport approach, namely the quark gluon string model (QGSM) which has been extended for a locally density-dependent partonic rearrangement and fusion procedure served as the tool for this investigations. The model emulates effectively the dynamics of a strongly coupled quark plasma and final hadronic interactions. Main QGSM results on anisotropic flow components v 1 and v 2 at top RHIC energy are compiled. Predictions for the pseudorapidity dependence of directed and elliptic flow in Pb+Pb collisions under LHC conditions are presented.

The transverse profile dependence of elliptic flow is studied in a parton cascade model. We compare results from the binary scaling profile to results from the wounded nucleon scaling profile. The impact parameter dependence of elliptic flow is shown to depend sensitively on the transverse profile of initial particles, however, if elliptic flow is plotted as a function of the relative multiplicity, the nuclear profile dependence disappears. The insensitivity was found previously in a hydrodynamical calculation. Our calculations indicate that the insensitivity is also valid with additional viscous corrections. In addition, the minimum bias differential elliptic flow is demonstrated to be insensitive to the nuclear profile of the system.  相似文献

We analyze elliptic flow from SIS to RHIC energies systematically in a realistic dynamical cascade model. We compare our results with the recent data from STAR and PHOBOS collaborations on elliptic flow of charged particles at midrapidity in Au+ Au collisions at RHIC. In the analysis of elliptic flow at RHIC energy, we find a good fitting with data at 1.5 times a scaling factor to our model, which characterizes that the model is required to have extra pressure generated from the subsequent parton scattering after the initial minijet production. In energy dependence of elliptic flow, we notice re-hardening nature at RHIC energies. Both these two observations would probably imply the possible formation of quark-gluon plasma.  相似文献

We study the correlation between the trigger π and the associated J/ψ on near and away sides in Au+Au collisions at √SNN=200 GeV.In the region of trigger momentum Pt>4 GeV/c,the π spectrum is composed of thermal-shower and shower-shower recombinations in the frame work of the recombination model. We consider the azimuthal anisotropy in the quenched hard parton distribution and then calculate the elliptic flow parameter v<,2> of charmed mesons (J/ψ, D<'0> and D<,s>) for different centralities.  相似文献

The parton-cascade model is a microscopic transport approach in the study of the space-time evolution of the quark–gluon plasma produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions and its experimental manifestations. In the following, parton-cascade calculations on elliptic flow and thermalization will be discussed. Dynamical evolution is shown to be important for the production of elliptic flow including the scaling and the breaking of the scaling of elliptic flow. The degree of thermalization is estimated using both an elastic parton-cascade and a radiative transport model. A longitudinal to transverse pressure ratio of P L /P T ≈0.8 is shown to be expected in the central cell in central collisions. This provides information on viscous corrections to the ideal hydrodynamical approach.

The elliptic flow v_{2} and the ratio of the shear viscosity over the entropy density, eta/s, of gluon matter are calculated from the perturbative QCD (pQCD) based parton cascade Boltzmann approach of multiparton scatterings. For Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s]=200A GeV the gluon plasma generates large v_{2} values measured at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Standard pQCD yields eta/s approximately 0.08-0.15 as small as the lower bound found from the anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory conjecture.  相似文献

We study J/psi production at RHIC and LHC energies with both initial production at energies reached and the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) with regeneration. We solve the coupled set of transport equations for the J/psi distribution in phase space and the hydrodynamic equation for evolution of quark-gluon plasma. At RHIC, continuous regeneration is crucial for the J/psi momentum distribution while the elliptic flow is still dominated by initial production. At energies reached at the LHC energy, almost all the initially created J/psis are dissociated in the medium and regeneration dominates the J/psi properties.  相似文献

We discuss one of the most prominent features of the very recent preliminary elliptic flow data of J/ψ-mesons from the PHENIX Collaboration (PHENIX Collaboration (C. Silvestre), arXiv:0806.0475 [nucl-ex]). Even within the rather large error bars of the measured data a negative elliptic flow parameter (v2) for J/ψ in the range of p T = 0.5-2.5 GeV/c is visible. We argue that this negative elliptic flow at intermediate pT is a clear and qualitative signature for the collectivity of charm quarks produced in nucleus-nucleus reactions at RHIC. Within a parton recombination approach we show that a negative elliptic flow puts a lower limit on the collective transverse velocity of heavy quarks. The numerical value of the transverse flow velocity for charm quarks that is necessary to reproduce the data is (charm) ∼ 0.55-0.6c and therefore compatible with the flow of light quarks.  相似文献
